  • Problem in populating a dictionary object using Enumerable.Range() (C#3.0)

    - by Newbie
    If I do for (int i = 0; i < appSettings.Count; i++) { string key = appSettings.Keys[i]; euFileDictionary.Add(key, appSettings[i]); } It is working fine. When I am trying the same thing using Enumerable.Range(0, appSettings.Count).Select(i => { string Key = appSettings.Keys[i]; string Value = appSettings[i]; euFileDictionary.Add(Key, Value); }).ToDictionary<string,string>(); I am getting a compile time error The type arguments for method 'System.Linq.Enumerable.Select(System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable, System.Func)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly. Any idea? Using C#3.0 Thanks

  • object-oriented question

    - by user522962
    I am attempting to put all my database connections in 1 php file, rather than in each of my individual php pages. I have the following: //conn.php: <?php class conn { var $username = "name"; var $password = "password"; var $server = "localhost"; var $port = "3306"; var $databasename = "db"; var $tablename = "tablename"; var $connection; public function getConnected() { $this->connection = mysqli_connect( $this->server, $this->username, $this->password, $this->databasename, $this->port ); } } ?> // file.php: <?php require_once("conn.php"); class myClass{ public function con() { $conn = new conn(); $conn->getConnected(); } public function myF() { $stmt = mysqli_prepare($conn->connection, "SELECT * FROM $conn->tablename"); mysqli_stmt_execute($stmt); } } ?> I then call this as follows: $myNew = new myClass(); $myNew-con(); $myNew-myF(); When I call this, I get the following error: Undefined property: myClass::$connection What am I doing wrong?

  • const object in c++

    - by Codenotguru
    I have a question on constant objects. In the following program: class const_check{ int a; public: const_check(int i); void print() const; void print2(); }; const_check::const_check(int i):a(i) {} void const_check::print() const { int a=19; cout<<"The value in a is:"<<a; } void const_check::print2() { int a=10; cout<<"The value in a is:"<<a; } int main(){ const_check b(5); const const_check c(6); b.print2(); c.print(); } void print() is constant member function of the class const_check, so according to the definition of constants if any attempt to change int a it should result in an error but the program works fine for me.I think i am having some confusion here, can anybody tell me why the compiler is not flagging it as an error??

  • Asp.net static object behaviour

    - by Circadian
    I have the following class as part of an asp.net application. public sealed class SomeClass { private static string appId = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); public static ReadSomethingFromDb(){} public static WriteSomethingToDb(){} } There are more than one application instances in the same application pool, and they all access the same database. I want the operations performed by the above class to be uniquely tied to the instance that performed it, hence the use of the appId. So adding a record to the database would for example contain a name, address and appId. This has been simplified for discussion purposes. Assuming that I have two instances running at mysite.a and mysite.b the above class would generate two different guids. My problem is that mysite.a sometimes produces more than one guid, which is unexpected. Thank you in advance

  • fast load big object graph from DB

    - by Famos
    Hi I have my own data structure written in C# like: public class ElectricScheme { public List<Element> Elements { get; set; } public List<Net> Nets { get; set; } } public class Element { public string IdName { get; set; } public string Func { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public BaseElementType Type { get; set; } public List<Pin> Pins { get; set; } } public class Pin { public string IdName { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public BasePinType PinType { get; set; } public BasePinDirection PinDirection { get; set; } } public class Net { public string IdName { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public List<Tuple<Element,Pin>> ConnectionPoints { get; set; } } Where Elements count ~19000, each element contain =3 Pin, Nets count ~20000, each net contain =3 pair (Element, Pin) Parse txt (file size ~17mb) file takes 5 minutes. Serilization / Deserialization by default serializer ~3 minutes. Load from DB 20 minutes and not loaded... I use Entity Framework like public ElectricScheme LoadScheme(int schemeId) { var eScheme = (from s in container.ElectricSchemesSet where s.IdElectricScheme.Equals(schemeId) select s).FirstOrDefault(); if (eScheme == null) return null; container.LoadProperty(eScheme, "Elements"); container.LoadProperty(eScheme, "Nets"); container.LoadProperty(eScheme, "Elements.Pins"); return eScheme; } The problem is dependencies between Element and Pin... (for ~19000 elements ~95000 pins) Any ideas?

  • Difference between [object variable] and object.variable in Obj-C?

    - by John Smith
    I was working on a program today and hit this strange bug. I had a UIButton with an action assigned. The action was something like: -(void) someaction:(id) e { if ([e tag]==SOMETAG) { //dostuff } } What confuses me is that when I first wrote it, the if line was if (e.tag==SOMETAG) XCode refused to compile it, saying error: request for member 'tag' in 'e', which is of non-class type 'objc_object*' but I thought the two were equivalent. So under what circumstances are they not the same?

  • Business object and linq2SQL

    - by Overdose
    What is the optimal way to write the code which interacts with DB using linq2SQL? I need to add some business logic to the entities. So I guess there are two ways: Write some wrapper class. The main minus is that many fields are the same, so i don't feel it as DRY style. Add business logic methods to linq2sql entities(these classes are partial) directly ???

  • Java nullPointerException with getter and setters on an object

    - by 12345
    I'm getting a nullPointerException below. Can someone explain why? Thanks! private SpatialPooler spatialPooler; private Region region; private Column column33; public void setUp() { this.spatialPooler = new SpatialPooler(); this.region = new Region(30, 40, 6, 8, 1.0f, 1, 1); this.column33 = this.region.getColumn(3, 3); } public void addActiveColumn(Column activeColumn) { this.activeColumns.add(activeColumn); // nullPointerException here! } public Column getActiveColumn(int x, int y) { for (Column activeColumn : this.activeColumns) { if (activeColumn.getX() == x && activeColumn.getY() == y) { return activeColumn; } } return null; } // in a test class that is in the same package. public void testGetAndAddActiveColumn() { this.spatialPooler.addActiveColumn(this.column33); assertNull(this.spatialPooler.getActiveColumn(3, 3)); this.column33.setActiveState(true); assertEquals(this.column33, this.spatialPooler.getActiveColumn(3, 3)); }

  • C++ - Creating a god object

    - by Greg Kritzman
    Hypothetical situation that I'm struggling to get my head past. HoldsFooBar.h: #include "foo.h" #include "bar.h" class HoldsFooBar{ foo F; bar B; }; foo.h: //includes? class foo{ HoldsFooBar *H; void Baz(); }; bar.h: //includes? class bar{ HoldsFooBar *H; void Qux(); }; I'm trying to get F to get a hold of B. In all other languages I've worked with, I would be able to H->B.Qux();, but I'm totally lost in C++. At the includes lines in foo.h and bar.h, it seems like my options are to forward-declare class HoldsFooBar; but then I can only access H, and F and B cannot see each other. Likewise, I can #include "HoldsFooBar.h" but because of my include guards, something ends up not getting linked properly, so the program doesn't run. Is what I'm trying to do even possible? Thank you very much! Any help would be appreciated!

    I am currently getting this error on one of my files: /var/www/vhosts/httpdocs/generator/index.php on line 6 Line 6 would be resulting in: echo $results->GetBookCodesResult->BookCodes->BookInfo->ServiceCode; My code: <?php $config['soap_url'] = "http://myservice.com?WSDL"; if(isset($_REQUEST['codes'])) { $results = request_Data(explode("\n",$_REQUEST['codes'])); echo $results->GetBookCodesResult->BookCodes->BookInfo->ServiceCode; } ....   • C++ return object

    I have a class that has a vector of objects. What do I need to do to return one of this objects and change it outside the class, keeping the changings? Is it possible to do with regular pointers? Is there a standard procedure? (And yes, my background is in Java.)

  • Passing enum or object through an intent (the best solution)

    - by jax
    I have an activity that when started needs access to two different ArrayLists. Both Lists are different Objects I have created myself. Basically I need a way to pass these objects to the activity from an Intent. I can use addExtras() but this requires a Parceable compatible class. I could make my classes to be passed serializable but as I understand this slows down the program. What are my options? Can I pass an Enum? As an an aside: is there a way to pass parameters to an Activity Constructor from an Intent?

  • how can i introspect properties and model fields in django?

    - by shreddd
    I am trying to get a list of all existing model fields and properties for a given object. Is there a clean way to instrospect an object so that I can get a dict of fields and properties. class MyModel(Model) url = models.TextField() def _get_location(self): return "%s/jobs/%d"%(url, self.id) location = property(_get_location) What I want is something that returns a dict that looks like this: { 'id' : 1, 'url':'http://foo', 'location' : 'http://foo/jobs/1' } I can use model._meta.fields to get the model fields, but this doesn't give me things that are properties but not real DB fields.
