• Subversion post-commit hook to sync rep with FTP server ( for a website )

  I've installed a repository on my computer locally. What I'm trying to do is be able to work on a website locally on my computer and see changes using something like MAMP. When I commit a change though I'd like it to sync my repo with the live website source files on a remote FTP server. I've done a bit of digging and I know that people keep saying to use a post-commit hook but I'm not sure how to configure it or even how to install it locally. Also i'm not sure if it's possible to do from my computer to an FTP. Could someone be a huge help and walk me through how to do this I've been trying for hours to figure out how to do it. thanks so much.

  I'm looking for a way to efficiently insert bits into a bitstream and have it 'overflow', padding with 0's. So for example if you had a byte array with 2 bytes: 231 and 109 (11100111 01101101), and did BitInsert(byteArray,4,00) it would insert two bits at bit offset 4 making 11100001 11011011 01000000 (225,219,24). It would be ok even the method only allowed 1 bit insertions e.g. BitInsert(byteArray,4,true) or BitInsert(byteArray,4,false). I have one method of doing it, but it has to walk the stream with a bitmask bit by bit, so I'm wondering if there's a simpler approach... Answers in assembly or a C derivative would be appreciated.

• Walking a hierarchy table with Linq

  I have a table with two columns, GroupId and ParentId (both are GUIDS). The table forms a hierarchy so I can look for a value in the “GroupId” filed, when I have found it I can look at its ParentId. This ParentId will also appear in the GroupId of a different record. I can use this to walk up the hierarchy tree from any point to the root (root is an empty GUID). What I’d like to do is get a list of records when I know a GroupId. This would be the record with the GroupId and all the parents back to the root record. Is this possible with Linq and if so, can anyone provide a code snippet?

• How can I keep gnu screen from becoming unresponsive after losing my SSH connection?

  I use a VPN tunnel to connect to my work network and then SSH to connect to my work PC running cygwin. Once logged in I can attach to a screen session and everything works great. Now, after a while, I walk away from my computer and sooner or later, the VPN tunnel times out. The SSH connection on each end eventually times out and then I eventually come back to my computer to do some work. Theoretically, this should be a simple matter of just restarting the VPN, reconnecting via SSH, and then running "screen -r -d". However apparently when the sshd daemon times out on the cygwin PC, it leaves the screen session in some kind of hung state. I can reproduce a similar hung state by clicking the close box on a cygwin bash shell window while it's running a screen session. Is there any way to get the screen session to recover once this has happened, so that I don't lose anything?

• Need help creating flash animation with clickable buttons at the end.

  Very inexperienced with Flash, but I hope this is simple enough for someone to walk me through. I'm ultimately trying to create a flash page for an html website that has a brief five-second animation during which 3 buttons fade in (buttons then become clickable after the animation is over). The animation part is done. Right now, I am trying to get my movie to stop and hold on the last frame, where I want to add the 3 buttons that the user can click on to take them to one 3 different html pages of my website. All instructions that I've found online have said to create a new layer for actions, insert a keyframe on the last frame of the movie, and add stop(); in the actionscript window. However, when I have the keyframe selected, my actionscript window says "current selection cannot have actions applied to it". Any ideas? I definitely don't have any objects selected, just the keyframe. Or, am I approaching this totally wrong?

  Hi, Does anyone know of a solid C# library / approach to manage a hierarchy/web type collection? This would be a library that would basic consist of the concept of nodes & relationships, for example to model web pages/files linked under a URL, or modeling IT infrastructure. It would have key methods such as: Node.GetDirectParents() Node.GetRootParents() Node.GetDirectChildren() Node.GetAllChildren() So it's smarts would include the ability to "walk the tree" of nodes based on the relationships when someone does ask for "give me all the children under this node" for example. It ideally include a persistence layer, to save/retrieve such data to/from a databases (e.g. with a Nodes and Relationships table). Thanks

• jquery - lose click() event after ajax call???

  At the following webpage liamharding.com/pgi.php I have an option panel on the left side of the page which opens and closes upon clicking the panels 'arrow', this works fine until you select a market (for testing use one of the 'Random Walk' markets and click 'Show/Refesh Graphs'), this then makes an ajax call using get_graph(forexName, myCount, divIsNew) function. Once this call is completed a graph(s) is displayed and then my options panels click() event does not work? The ajax call returns the data in a variable ajax_data, the problem happens when I perform the following code var jq_ajax_data = $("<div/>").html(ajax_data); . I need to wrap it in a so I can extract data from it using jQuery. If this line of code is commented out the click() event works fine ?? Hope somebody can help, I have spent a lot of time but cant find what the problem is.

  Profiling of some code of mine showed that about 65% of the time I was running the following code. What it does is use the Data.Binary.Get monad to walk through a bytestring looking for the terminator. If it detects 0xff, it checks if the next byte is 0x00. If it is, it drops the 0x00 and continues. If it is not 0x00, then it drops both bytes and the resulting list of bytes is converted to a bytestring and returned. Any obvious ways to optimize this code?   Hi, I need to extract the detail content of a website while preserve all formatting of the division. My current solution is to use HTMLParser from libxml2 and xpath to find the nodes and walk through all the nodes to reconstruct this piece of HTML. This is a long an complicated code. This was published in 2007, however, and the newer reviews say it is not very helpful.   Hello, Here is the problem statement : Calling a setter on the object should result in the object to change to an object of a different class, which language can support this ? Ex. I have a class called "Man" (Parent Class), and two children namely "Toddler" and "Old Man", they are its children because they override a behaviour in Man called as walk.( i.e Toddler sometimes walks using both his hands and legs kneeled down and the Old man uses a stick to support himself). The Man class has a attribute called age, I have a setter on Man,say it is called setAge(int ageValue). I have 3 objects, 2 toddlers, 1 old-Man. (The system is up and running,i guess when we say objects it is obvious) .I will make this call, toddler.setAge(80), I expect the toddler to change to an object of type Old Man. • Animating and rotating an image in a Surface View

  I would like to animate movement on a SurfaceView . Ideally I would like to also be notified once the animation had finished. For example: I might have a car facing North. If I wanted to animate it so that it faces South for a duration of 500ms, how could I do that? I am using a SurfaceView so all animation must be handled manually, I don't think I can use XML or the android Animator classes. Also, I would like to know the best way to animate something continuously inside a SurfaceView (ie. a walk cycle)

But what about putting your IT skills to use at traditional non-profit organizations as a volunteer? I would like to volunteer some time to a worthwhile cause in 2010, but am having a hard time finding organizations who may need IT help. Does anyone do this? Are there any websites out there to help one find organizations looking for such help? I would think some must have a need for free software development type work? I saw a bit on 'WeVolunteer' that publishes a database of volunteer opportunities (http://www.wetv.com/volunteer.html), but it seems to be more 'typical' volunteer opportunities (soup kitchens, walk-a-thons, etc).

  I'm using WordPress as CMS for a site I'm developing. When I'm browsing posts, I can use Next/Previous links to walk between posts. I want to have the same thing on pages. Page A Page B Page C Page A should link to next sibling Page B. Page B should link to previous sibling Page A and next sibling Page C. Page C should link to previous sibling Page B. Is there any plugin you can recommend that generates these links? I know there are some plugins that do this, but I specifically want one that hooks into my current theme automatically.   I'm writing a component that needs to walk large object graphs, sometimes 20-30 levels deep. What is the most performant way of walking the graph? A. Enqueueing "steps" so as to avoid deep recursion or B. A DFS (depth first search) which may step many levels deep and have a "deep" stack trace at times. I guess the question I'm asking is: Is there a performance hit in .NET for doing a DFS that causes a "deep" stack trace? If so, what is the hit? And would I better better off with some BFS by means of queueing up steps that would have been handled recursively in a DFS? Sorry if I'm being unclear. Thanks.

• How do I configure NetBeans to only step through Java code that I've written.

  Am I missing something? I'm delighted that all that code is there showing how the generic collections work etc. However when I want to simply walk my code I'm forever finding myself going deeper into Java's own library code than I care to. Is it possible to simply disable that when stepping code - I want to treat all of that stuff as a Black Box, code stepping is just for stuff I've written. And you know what, now I've got that capability, is it possible to wrap up my own code that way too so that I can step just the bits I'm most interested in?
