How do I POST/GET from rails to API with either ActiveResource or rest-client (preferred)?

Hi, this is a pretty basic question but I'm not entirely clear how to do this. I am trying to use a third-party service that has RESTful service. The service is called Postful. But I'm not clear what exactly to do? I've looked at ActiveResource (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveResource/Base.html) and rest-client, but I'm still not clear exactly what steps, code, and files to create. http://www.postful.com/service/mail is one of the services (details found http://www.postful.com/developer/guide#rest ), but to upload an image I have to post the following (but I'm not sure how I actually do this?). Making pygtksourceview work in windows

So, I'm trying to get gtksourceview python bindings work under windows (I'm developing a cross platform gtk application that shows code, so gtksourceview seemed like a natural choice). I have pygtk installed and working (I followed the instructions in http://www.pygtk.org/downloads.html) I tried the instructions in http://projects.gnome.org/gtksourceview/ for gtksourceview. Here is what I did: Downloaded and extracted the latest gtksourceview window binaries from: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/gtksourceview/2.10/gtksourceview-2.10.0.zip The website said gtksourceview needs libxml, so I downloaded and extracted the latest libxml window binaries from: http://xmlsoft.org/sources/win32/libxml2-2.7.6.win32.zip Added the folders containing dll files to the PATH (in my computer they were c:\opt\gtksourceview\bin; C:\opt\libxml2-2.7.6.win32\bin) Installed pygtksourceview with the windows installer: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/pygtksourceview/2.10/pygtksourceview-2.10.0.win32-py2.6.exe Renamed the file libxml2.dll to libxml2-2.dll (after running depends on the gtksourceview dll) Now, the gtksouceview widget seems to work, until I'm trying to set the code's language. When I do that python crashes. I can't seem to work out how to get m2eclipse to see the snapshot and offer it as an option in the Add Dependencies search panel. How do I do that? Thanks! Huge amount of time sending data with suds and proxy

Hi everyone, I have the following code to send data through a proxy using suds: import suds t = suds.transport.http.HttpTransport() proxy = urllib2.ProxyHandler({'http': 'http://192.168.3.217:3128'}) opener = urllib2.build_opener(proxy) t.urlopener = opener ws = suds.client.Client('http://xxxxxxx/web.asmx?WSDL', transport=t) req = ws.factory.create('ActionRequest.request') req.SerialNumber = 'asdf' req.HostName = 'hola' res = ws.service.ActionRequest(req) I don't know why, but it can be sending data above 2 or 3 minutes, or even more and it raises a "Gateway timeout" exception sometimes. If I don't use the proxy, the amount of time used is above 2 seconds or less. Here is the SOAP reply: (ActionResponse){ Id = None Action = "Action.None" Objects = "" } The proxy is running right with other requests through urllib2, or using normal web browsers like firefox. Does anyone have any idea what's happening here with suds? Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Flex 4 front end connecting to Java Jersey Web Service

I created a Java REST service using Jersey. I use three of the HTTP "verbs" GET, POST and DELETE. I want to create several prototype front ends for the service. After much research, a lot dating to 2008 and 2009, I have been unable to find anything remotely simple. My three options are: 1) resthttpservice. This project hasn't been updated in a year. The only activity are one off suggestions that individual users have implemented. http://code.google.com/p/resthttpservice/ 2) Create an AIR application. This isn't unfeasible. 3) Writing my own socket level code but there is a security restriction with flash players and I need to implement a policy server. I have already read the question posted about asking whether using Flex for REST services were worth it. That information is old as well. I want to introduce REST services to my company but Flex's limited support for HTTP PUT and DELETE are discouraging. My service also uses the Accept header to determine if JSON or XML will be returned to the client. I can't seem to change HTTP headers without doing socket programming. I'm fine with that but the security policy thing is annoying. Is there an easy way to use Flex 4 with RESTful services that uses PUT/DELETE and the Accept HTTP header? Please help. I'm very frustrated.

Anyway, I would like to modify image A in the GIMP such that it will look like it did originally after being stacked on top of image B. Both image A and image B have their opacities set to 50%. Image B is a solid color throughout, whereas image A has some minor details such as a gradient. How can I write a "user can only access own profile page" type of security check in Play Framework?

I have a Play framework application that has a model like this: A Company has one and only one User associated with it. I have URLs like http://www.example.com/companies/1234, http://www.example.com/companies/1234/departments, http://www.example.com/companies/1234/departments/employees and so on. The numbers are the company id's, not the user id's. I want that normal users (not admins) should only be able to access their own profile pages, not other people's profile pages. So a user associated with the company with id 1234 should not be able to access the URL http://www.example.com/companies/6789 I tried to accomplish this by overriding Secure.check() and comparing the request parameter "id" to the ID of the company associated with the logged in user. However, this obviously fails if the parameter is called anything else than "id". Does anyone know how this could be accomplished?

Hi, I'm doing a simple widget for WordPress that fetches the most recent tweets from the RSS feed provided by Twitter. This widget parses any link posted on a tweet, it also parses mentions (ie: @username) and trending topics (ie: #nowplaying). For these 3 situations, it creates links pointing to some Twitter feature. For instance: "Hi @UserA, check out the song Foo from FooBar that I'm listening, it's awesome. #nowplaying" And it will parse into this: Hi <a href="http://twitter.com/UserA">@UserA</a>, check out the song Foo from FooBar that I'm listening, it's awesome. <a href="http://twitter.com/#search?q=nowplaying">#nowplaying</a> Now now I need to add a global link to the whole message, like this: <a href="http://twitter.com/UserA/statuses/1234567890"> Hi <a href="http://twitter.com/UserA">@UserA</a>, check out the song Foo from FooBar that I'm listening, it's awesome. <a href="http://twitter.com/#search?q=nowplaying">#nowplaying</a> </a> But this code does not validate and it doesn't work anyways (the browsers don't really seem to know what to do with it). Any suggestions how could I fix this?
