  • Set mouse or keyboard button to simulate left click and hold or rapid left click repeating in Windows?

    Does anyone know a way to configure Windows 7 or use third party software to do this? I would like to click my middle mouse button and have it tell Windows to left click and hold until I click the middle mouse button again. A keyboard key would be fine as well. Some games and apps have me holding down the left mouse button for a long time and I would like to reduce the stress on my mouse hand. Also, I would like to do a similar thing but have it repeatedly click the left mouse button automatically if possible. If none of that is possible, how about temporalily setting a keyboard key to achieve a left mouse button emulation?

  • Can I use MX records to deliver some addresses to Google Apps and some to my server?

    I have whm installed on my VPS, which my domain MX records are pointing to: 0:mail.mydomain.com and whm/cpanel has mail forwarding rules which pipes certain @mydomain email addresses into my CRM software. But for certain email addresses I want to forward into Google Apps. For example, [email protected], [email protected] pipes into cPanel -- CRM (mail.mydomain.com) but [email protected] should be going to Google MX records. Is that possible? The reason why is I want to register for Google Apps such as analytics and other Google services under [email protected]. My initial thoughts were to add a subdomain such as [email protected] and point that subdomain's MX records to Google.. but I want to avoid this if possible.

  • LDAP search filter for Active Directory

    Hello, I'm trying to look for users inside Active Directory through a LDAP query. Basically I'm searching for the user in this way: Search DN: dc=mydomain, dc=com Filter: (sAMAccountName=USER) where USER is replaced with the provided username. Now if USER is only the username without domain (for ex. "Joe") this works fine. However I receive them in the form (domain\username, for ex. "myDomain\Joe") and obviously the search fails. I see two ways: using a regex inside the Search Filter to discard the domain using a completely different search filter I'm no LDAP expert and I don't even know if it's possible to use regular expressions inside the search filters. Does anyone know if it's possible and how? P.S. I cannot pre-process the username to strip the domain. This cannot be changed, as it's all part of a large system.

  • Detecting man-in-the-middle attacks?

    There seem to be many possible ways to create man-in-the-middle attacks on public access points, by stealing the access point's local IP address with ARP spoofing. The possible attacks range from forging password request fields, to changing HTTPS connections to HTTP, and even the recently discovered possibilit of injecting malicious headers in the beginning of secure TLS connections. However, it seems to be claimed that these attacks are not very common. It would be interesting to see for myself. What ways are there to detect if such an attack is being attempted by someone on the network? I guess getting served a plain HTTP login page would be an obvious clue, and of course you could run Wireshark and keep reading all the interesting ARP traffic... But an automated solution would be a tiny bit more handy. Something that analyzes stuff on the background and alerts if an attack is detected on the network. It would be interesting to see for myself if these attack are actually going on somewhere.

    Is it possible on Linux to find out which applications have accessed a certain file in the last 24 hours? I've come with a few possible solutions: Watch lsof. It works, but it's constrained to watch's granularity. inotify sounds good... but no information of the application accessing the file is provided. auditd may be useful, but I haven't checked that yet. What ways can I see which applications have accessed a certain file within a given time period?

    Is there any way how to use multiple SkyDrive accounts on one computer running MAC OS X or Windows 8? I would like to sync data from different accounts to different folder and not to merge these accounts to one. The reason is that every SkyDrive has it's storage limits and I'm using every account for different work data. The result should be the following: I have a number of SkyDrive accounts every for different work, let's say: S1 S2 S3 I would like to sync exactly the same number of folders on computer using different accounts to sync them: SkyDriveS1Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S1 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS2Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S2 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS3Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S3 SkyDrive) Is it possible somehow? I found a workaround for Windows machines (http://superuser.com/questions/525932/running-multiple-instances-of-microsoft-skydrive) but is there anything for MAC OS X machines?     I have a home server, on which I have installed Apache, and several other applications that have a Web GUI (JDownloader, Free Download Manager). In order to access each of these apps (whether be it from the local network or the Internet), I have to enter a different port, e.g., http://server:8085 or http://xxxx.dyndns.org:8085 for Apache http://server:90 or http://xxxx.dyndns.org:90 for FDM http://server:8081 or http://xxxx.dyndns.org:8081 for JDownloader I would like to be able to access them using sub-domains, e.g, http://apache.server or http://apache.xxxx.dyndns.org for Apache, http://fdm.server or http://fdm.xxxx.dyndns.org for FDM, http://jdownloader.server or http://jdownloader.xxxx.dyndns.org for JDownloader First of all, would it be possible like I want it, i.e., both from LAN and Internet, and if yes, how? Even if it's possible only for Internet, I would like to know how to do it, if there's a way.

    Especially with the option to install Server Core in Server 2008 and above, connecting to Windows servers over a CLI is increasingly useful ability, if not one that's very widespread amongst Windows administrators. Practically every Windows GUI management tool has an option to connect to a remote computer, but there is no such option present in the built-in Windows CLI (cmd.exe), which gives the initial impression that this might not be possible. Is it possible to remotely management or administer a Windows Server using a CLI? And if so, what options are there to achieve this?

  • Can I use a wireless-N laptop as an NAS for seamless and fast data transfer and access?

    I have a nice spare laptop (Dell 15R, one year old) that I was wondering if I could use as an NAS. The laptop has an E-Sata port, and I was wondering if I could set it up and plug in a few hard drives permanently (meaning I won't be unplugging it) to the eSata port and use the laptop as a wireless NAS to seamlessly and wirelessly store and access my files. Alternatively, would it be better to sell the laptop and buy a dedicated NAS?

    is it possible that 1024 and 2048 block size read speed is faster than 4096 and 8192 block? I'm using lsi 9361-8i with RAID 10 , with 8 x Kingston E50 250G. result: 1024 = Write: 2,251 MB/s Read: 2,625 MB/s 2048 = Write: 2,141 MB/s Read: 3,672 MB/s 4096 = Write: 2,147 MB/s Read: 231 MB/s 8192 = Write: 2,147 MB/s Read: 442 MB/s is there any possible? and below is the reading when i simply want to test out the RAID 10 function and disaster test by taking out one of the 250G harddisk. the result is different like below: Result: 1024 = Write: 825 MB/s Read: 1,139 MB/s 2048 = Write: 797 MB/s Read: 1,312 MB/s 4096 = Write: 911 MB/s Read: 1,342 MB/s 8192 = Write: 786 MB/s Read: 1,204 MB/s and the result for 4096 and 8192block are different? can any one explain to me is it normal? or I need to do some tuning/configuration? will it affect my host linux performance?

Is it possible to reference other locations. So that I could boot from it, without limitations. because the flash drive can only contain 8gb of data. Is it possible? Anyone here tried this before?

    I was surprised to hear from this Reuters video that it was possible for a page loaded on one tab to access and/or inject data onto another page loaded on a different tab. TL;DW (too lazy; didn't watch) The interviewee in the video suggests that when doing online banking, the user exit his browser (thus closing all windows) and start a new browser session with just your banking page/tab open. Allegedly, malicious sites can check if you have your banking site open and inject commands onto those sites. Can someone confirm and/or deny this claim? Is it only possible even if there is not parent/child relationship between windows/tabs?

    I have two different FreeNAS boxes that are being used for storage. It is possible to link them in a manner that the linked connection can be presented as a single storage destination for clients? For example, I have one FreeNAS installation that has 6 TB of storage and another one that has 4 TB of storage. I would like to be able to present or have a single mapped drive for clients that would be able to span across both of them; however, the client would only see it as one drive. Is this possible? If not, is there a different way I should be approaching this problem? Is there a different OS distribution that would work better for this?

    On debian squeeze, I am trying to do the following : fetch sources package from the wheezy source repository bootstrap a squeeze chroot for several architectures build the packages for several architectures (i386, amd64 + all and any) I want both the fetching, bootstrapping and build operation to be scriptable, repeatable, and run as a normal user. For the environment setup, I want to make as little use of the root account as possible (install the necessary dependencies, and maybe some visudo stuff). If possible I would like to avoid using a VM (pbuilder with user mode linux) So far I have tried several things with pbuilder (require root), debootstrap (require root) with little success.   • NFS failover WITHOUT DRBD?

    So I am trying to set up a redundant NFS share in a cloud environment(all links internal, half gig links), and I am looking into using heartbeat for failover, but all the guides seem to be about combining DRBD and heartbeat to create a robust environment. If need be I can do that, but since my content is almost completely static, I would like to avoid the extra overhead and complexity of DRBD if possible, but still be able to fail over if one of the NFS servers fails. Is it possible to use heartbeat with NFS to achieve high-availability without using DRBD to copy the blocks? I am not married to NFSv4, so if NFSv3 over UDP is necessary, that won't be a problem(only a very small number of clients will be connecting to the share) Any comments are appreciated.

  • Linux: Combine two partitions?

    This workstation is running Fedora 11. It has 4 HDDs raided into 4 partitions: / (31 gig) /boot (134 meg) /data (140 gig) /FC12 (31 gig) The previous employee that used my current workstation set it up this way. He apparently created the FC12 partition to test a Fedora 12 installation. I don't need Fedora 12 so I wiped that partition and now I'm wondering if its possible for me to combine the /FC12 partition into the / partition, so that the / partition will now be 62 gigs. Is this possible? If so, how? Can it be done w/o reinstalling the OS? I've toyed with Fedora's LVM admin interface but it seems very basic and there doesn't seem to be anything about combining partitions. I've also messed with other HDD utilities that are in Fedora (Palimpsest Disk Utlity) but all it seems to be able to do is mount and umount partitions.

I am only wanting to swap the OS onto the other laptop as the other one is faster. Is this possible? and if so how can it be done?
