• JSF html component on WebSphere 7.0

  We are in the process of upgrading to WebSphere 7.0 on Windows 2008 R2. Our applications currently run on WebSphere 6.1 on Windows 2003. We use custom controls we wrote using JSF 1.1 in our applications. • EWS 2010: Public Folder Problem using .NET

  I've recently coded a .NET Console app using C#. It's purpose was to read the emails within a specific folder, parse them for specific values and save them to a database. Our email system, at the time I originally coded this, was Exchange 2003. However, I was made aware we would soon be upgrading to Exchange 2010: ergo, I built the code to work in both environments. Following the migration to 2010, however, the app has broken. The app uses the EWS API for 2010 functionality. When it attempts to use the ExchangeService's FindFolders method to find the publicfoldersroot, it throws an exception. Here's the code: ExchangeService service = new ExchangeService(); FindFoldersResults findRootFldrs; service.UseDefaultCredentials = true; service.AutodiscoverUrl("[email protected]", delegate(string x) { return true; }); FolderView fview = new FolderView(100); fview.Traversal = FolderTraversal.Deep; if (findRootFldrsSub == null) { //Set to root to test local folders -- findRootFldrs = service.FindFolders(WellKnownFolderName.PublicFoldersRoot, fview); } The exception: "The mailbox that was requested doesn't support the specified RequestServerVersion" I've attempted: -Setting the exchangeservice to 2007 (throws an exception: "An internal server error occurred. The operation failed.") -Giving myself the highest level of permission to the Public Folder (no effect) -Manually setting my credentials (no effect) I can view the public folders in outlook; the publicfoldersroot property is available in the intellisense; the code works on local folders (I can parse my inbox). My current thinking is that it's a setting on the recent setup of Exchange 2010: unfortunately that isn't really my field.

• CreateProcessAsUser doesn't draw the GUI

  Hi, I have a windows service running under "SYSTEM" account that checks if a specific application is running for each logged in user. If the application is not running, the service starts it (under corresponding user name). I'm trying to accomplish my goal using CreateProcessAsUser(). The service does start the application under corresponding user name, but the GUI is not drawn. (Yes, I'm making sure that "Allow service to interact with desktop" check box is enabled). System: XP SP3, labguage: C# Here is some code that might be of interest: PROCESS_INFORMATION processInfo = new PROCESS_INFORMATION(); startInfo.cb = Marshal.SizeOf(startInfo); startInfo.lpDesktop = "winsta0\\default"; bResult = Win32.CreateProcessAsUser(hToken, null, strCommand, IntPtr.Zero, IntPtr.Zero, false, 0, IntPtr.Zero, null, ref startInfo, out processInfo); As far as I understand, setting startInfo.lpDesktop = "winsta0\default"; should have used the desktop of corresponding user. Even contrary to what is stated here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/165194, I tried setting lpDesktop to null, or not setting it at all, both giving the same result: process was started in the name of expected user and I could see a part of window's title bar. The "invisible" window intercepts mouse click events, handles them as expected. It just doesn't draw itself. Is anyone familiar with such a problem and knows what am I doing wrong?

  Hello, I'm going to implement JSON-PRC web service. I need specifications for this. So far I had found only one resource that can be called as real specifications: JSON-RPC 1.0 http://json-rpc.org/wiki/specification Proposal of JSON-PRC 2.0: http://groups.google.com/group/json-rpc/web/json-rpc-2-0 (why is it on google groups?) However I've seen that JavaScript frameworks like Dojo actively use JSON-RPC SMD Service Mapping Description proposal But it requires JSON Schema specifications, but it redirects to incorrect URL as reference. So far I had found following: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-zyp-json-schema-02 And it is still draft... Can anybody point me to spome actual specifications... At least something official updated? Because it looks like that implementing JSON-RPC 1.0 and 2.0 would not be enought, at least for frameworks like Dojo. Or am I wrong? Questions: Is it enough to implement JSON-RPC 1.0 specifications and 2.0 draft to be on safe side, would this work for most JSON-RPC clients? If I should implement SMD, or it is recommended can somebody point to official specifications of Json Schema and Service Mapping Description or links I found are really "specifications?" Note: do not suggest existing JSON-RPC service implementations.

  I'm doing some maintenance on an older web application written in Monorail v1.0.3. I want to unit test an action that uses RenderText(). How do I extract the content in my test? Reading from controller.Response.OutputStream doesn't work, since the response stream is either not setup properly in PrepareController(), or is closed in RenderText(). • WCF Datacontract, some fields do not deserialize

  Problem: I have a WCF service setup to be an endpoint for a call from an external system. The call is sending plain xml. I am testing the system by sending calls into the service from Fiddler using the RequestBuilder. The issue is that all of my fields are being deserialized with the exception of two fields. price_retail and price_wholesale. What am I missing? All of the other fields deserialize without an issue - the service responds. It is just these fields. • Forms authentication in Silverlight

  I have a website using forms authentication. Everything runs sweet their. I've got a Silverlight app that uses Duplex messaging to talk to a WCF service. I'd like to be able to authenticate users in my service. I realize that by doing this <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true" /> that my service would then have access to the HttpContext.Current context and I could easily authenticate a user. But herein lies the problem. aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true" combined with Duplex messaging results in very, very, very slow communication between silverlight and the website (10 seconds or more). Unless I have a configuration wrong, I'm going to assume that this is a bug in WCF / Silverlight. So basically I'm looking for a workaround. One idea I wanted to try was to read the ASPSESSID cookie from the browser and send that value over the wire. But I don't know what to do with the cookie on the service side. Is there some way to authenticate a user by sending their cookie data over duplex messaging?

• Help using mod_jk to forward to backend app server

  I had mod-jk working a while ago but after switching servers and modifying some files, it no longer works. I am using mod_jk-1.2.28 with JBoss 4.2.3 as the backend. In the JBoss server.xml file I have the AJP 1.3 connector defined on port 8009 and I am binding jboss to the server's new IP address. The app I am trying to forward to is deployed as: [TomcatDeployer] deploy, ctxPath=/ManualAlerts, warUrl=.../tmp/deploy/tmp8097651929280250028ManualAlertsApp.ear-contents/ManualAlerts-exp.war/ On the web server, I have worker.properties with a worker set for the JBoss address and port 8009. The mod-jk.conf has JkMount /ManualAlerts/* worker1. Shouldn't this forward all requests to the web server with the URL http://address/ManualAlerts/ to the backend app named ManualAlerts? • Multiple asynchronous method calls to method while in a loop

  I have spent a whole day trying various ways using 'AddOnPreRenderCompleteAsync' and 'RegisterAsyncTask' but no success so far. I succeeded making the call to the DB asynchronous using 'BeginExecuteReader' and 'EndExecuteReader' but that is missing the point. The asynch handling should not be the call to the DB which in my case is fast, it should be afterwards, during the 'while' loop, while calling an external web-service. I think the simplified pseudo code will explain best: (Note: the connection string is using 'MultipleActiveResultSets') "Select ID, UserName from MyTable" 'Open connection to DB ExecuteReader(); if (DR.HasRows) {     while (DR.Read())     {         'Call external web-service         'and get current Temperature of each UserName - DR["UserName"].ToString()         'Update my local DB         Update MyTable set Temperature = ValueFromWebService where UserName =                                       DR["UserName"]         CmdUpdate.ExecuteNonQuery();     }     'Close connection etc } Accessing the DB is fast. Getting the returned result from the external web-service is slow and that at least should be handled Asynchnously. If each call to the web service takes just 1 second, assuming I have only 100 users it will take minimum 100 seconds for the DB update to complete, which obviously is not an option. There eventually should be thousands of users (currently only 2). Currently everything works, just very synchnously :) Thoughts to myself: Maybe my way of approaching this is wrong?   I've build my own WCF channel with all necessary stuff (like encoders, bindings, etc) to use it with ServiceHost. I just want to build the "channel stack" making no custumizations at "Service Model". To acomplish this, my encoder returns perfect ServiceModel.Messages with a XML infoset just like other channel does. When i use my custom channel the WCF's runtime replay with an faul message telling: "The message with To '' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to an AddressFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. Check that the sender and receiver's EndpointAddresses agree." I read that the default EndPointDispatcher.AddressFilter simply looks to the "TO" header and delivery the message to corresponding service. • Passenger Bundler::PathError

  So I'm going around in circles with this - I'm using a fork of the Paperclip Rails gem to get it to work with Rails3. Works fine on my OSX box with Passenger. But on my server (CentOS 5) I get this this error: git://github.com/lmumar/paperclip.git (at rails3) is not checked out. Please runbundle install(Bundler::PathError)Blockquote I tried Bundle Pack, but that doesnt pack gems from github. I read a post about setting the parh to the BUNDLE_HOME in my application.rb file which I tried: ENV['BUNDLER_HOME']="~/.bundle/ruby/1.8/bundler/gems/" But that doesnt work. Any ideas anyone? I dont know what else to do and have no idea how to debug or trace the problem further :( Passenger version 2.2.11. thanks.

  I have a WCF Web Service that my ASP.NET app uses. It has been working fine for quite some time. I just added in a Dev Express Grid (and the Dev Express DLLs) and a new page that uses them and now I am getting parsing errors on the WSDL. But the weird part is that it works fine on my machine but fails on the web server machine. (Both are connecting to the same web services WSDL.) • Complex data types in WCF?

  I've run into a problem trying to return an object that holds a collection of childobjects that again can hold a collection of grandchild objects. I get an error, 'connection forcibly closed by host'. Is there any way to make this work? I currently have a structure resembling this: pseudo code: Person: IEnumerable<Order> Order: IEnumberable<OrderLine> All three objects have the DataContract attribute and all public properties i want exposed (including the IEnumerable's) have the DataMember attribute. I have multiple OperationContract's on my service and all the methods returning a single object OR an IEnumerable of an object works perfectly. It's only when i try to nest IEnumerable that it turns bad. Also in my client service reference i picked the generic list as my collection type. I just want to emphasize, only one of my operations/methods fail with this error - the rest of them work perfectly. EDIT (more detailed error description): [SocketException (0x2746): An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host] [IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.] [WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.] [CommunicationException: An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to http://myservice.mydomain.dk/MyService.svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. • nHibernate strategies in a web farm

  Our current project at work is a new MVC web site that will use a WCF service primarily to access a 3rd party billing system via a web service as well as a small SQL database for user personalization. The WCF service uses nHibernate for the SQL database. We'd like to implement some sort of web farm for load balancing as well as failover and maintenance. I'm trying to decide the best way to handle nHibernate's caching and database concurrency if there are multiple WCF services running. Some scenarios I've been thinking about... 1) Multiple IIS servers, one WCF server. With this setup, the WCF server would be a single point of failure, but there would be no issues with nHibernate caching or database concurrency. 2) Multiple IIS servers, each with it's own WCF service. This removes a single point of failure, but now nHibernate on one machine would not know about database changes done by another machine. Some solutions to number 2 would be to use an IStatelessSession so we're not doing any caching and nHibernate is always fetching directly from the database. This might be the most feasible as our personalization database has very few objects in it. I'm also considering a 2nd-level cache such as memcached or Velocity, but it may be overkill for this system. I'm putting this out there to see if anyone has experience doing this sort of architecture and to get some ideas for a solution. Thanks!

I can't seem to Include or Exclude properties within a nested object.

• Factories, or Dependency Injection for object instantiation in WCF, when coding against an interface

  Hi I am writing a client/server application, where the client is a Windows Forms app, and the server is a WCF service hosted in a Windows Service. Note that I control both sides of the application. I am trying to implement the practice of coding against an interface: i.e. I have a Shared assembly which is referenced by the client application. This project contains my WCF ServiceContracts and interfaces which will be exposed to clients. I am trying to only expose interfaces to the clients, so that they are only dependant on a contract, not any specific implementation. One of the reasons for doing this is so that I can have my service implementation, and domain change at any time without having to recompile and redeploy the clients. The interfaces/contracts will in this case not change. I only need to recompile and redeploy my WCF service. The design issue I am facing now, is: on the client, how do I create new instances of objects, e.g. ICustomer, if the client doesn't know about the Customer concrete implementation? I need to create a new customer to be saved to the DB. Do I use dependency injection, or a Factory class to instantiate new objects, or should I just allow the client to create new instances of concrete implementations? I am not doing TDD, and I will typically only have one implementation of ICustomer or any other exposed interface.

• clientaccesspolicy.xml not being requested via HTTPS

  I have a silverlight app that has been using http to communicate w/self-hosted WCF services during development. I am now securing the services via https. I am getting an error I had back at the beginning of the project: "An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'https://localhost:8303/service'. This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. Please see the inner exception for more details." My clientaccesspolicy.xml file is setup to allow access from http://* and https://*. The only difference is using http vs https. The issue is I can usually see (via Fiddler) the clientaccesspolicy.xml file being requested, but now I cannot. I'm assuming it is failing because of this. Any ideas?
