  • Port forwarding in C#/software possible? Isn't it only managed by the router?

    - by Rudi
Isn't port forwarding managed by the router? Like, I've googled up some software applications that seem to port forward with great success, but it technically seems to be impossible. The packet must first go to the router. The router must forward it to the correct computer based on port forwarding rules. So how can a software application manage port forwarding if the packet must GO to the computer running this software application in the first place, meaning that port forwarding already is successful in the first place?

  • Migration from ASP.NET MVC2 Priview 2 to MVC2 RC: Any breaking changes?

    - by Azho KG
Hi, I'm trying to migrate from ASP.NET MVC2 Priview 2 to MVC2 RC, because new version of Telerik is enforcing it. I had big problems while migrating from MVC 1.0 to MVC 2.0 Preview 2, so I wanted to confirm with you guys before continuing. Has anyone migrated from Prev2 to RC? Was there any problems? Are they easy to solve? Any suggestions are greatly welcome. Thanks.

  • Create Excel files from C# without office

    - by tbischel
I am writing a program that generates excel reports, currently using the Microsoft.Interop.Excel reference. My dev computer has Excel on it, but the end user may or may not have Office installed. Will this tool fail if Office isn't installed on the end users computer, or is this interop service separate from the actual application?

  • Network.downloadfile is very slow

    - by user324067
I have tried using the My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile method but unfortunately it is slow. Executing the simple command below takes ~5-10 secs, which I would say is a lot longer than expected for downloading a 9 kb file. `My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("http://www.google.dk", "j:\temp\test.html")` I am connecting via a high-speed connection (10GB) from a Win7 machine. Do anyone know of any explanations for this behavior? Hope that you can help me out with this. Kristoffer

  • httpURLConnection vs apache commons http

    - by Pablo Fernandez
Hi everyone! I just wanted to know if any of you had any problems using java default HttpURLConnection class. Some kind of bug that made you switch to apache commons. Or is it just the (ugly) interface that class exposes that justifies the birth of 3rd party http lib? Disclosure: I heard some arguments against java.net having some serious problems, but I'm finding hard to believe that a class that is part of the java core distribution still has issues after several releases of the JDK

  • Quickest way to run a linux dev-environment inside windows

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I get more and more trouble from running WAMP on my XP computer to solve my local development needs. It feels like as more and more things just go wrong or could not be installed at all to a Windows version of PHP. I have been looking for an alternative and found AndLinux plus this link. Would it be a good idea to get an Ubuntu box running virtually on my XP computer to simulate the production web server?

  • How to process large block data visualization with Flex?

    - by hydra1983
I know that's a big topic. However, it's better to know some general ideas to handle such problems. I have an application which requires Flex to render statistics data calculated instantly on the client side from a downloaded data set. The problems are: the data set is large and needs more than 10 seconds to be downloaded. there are some filters to control the statistics calculation algorithms. If user changes the filters, it would take a long time to recalculate the result and freeze the UI.

  • Why use spaces instead of tabs for indentation? [closed]

    - by erenon
Possible Duplicate: Are spaces preferred over tabs for indentation? Why do most coding standards recommend the use of spaces instead of tabs? Tabs can be configured to be as many characters wide as needed, but spaces can't. Example: Zend cs Pear cs Pear manual: This helps to avoid problems with diffs, patches, SVN history and annotations. How could tabs cause problems?

  • How to prevent arbitrary code execution vulnerability in our programs?

    - by Calmarius
You always read in changelogs when your system or browser or any program updates that they fixed a bug that made possible that an attacker can execute any code in your computer with a forged website, or attacking your computer with carefully forged packets, etc... Because you read it so often that means any program can have similar vulnerabilites... What causes this? how to design our programs to prevent similar issues?

  • retrieving detailed usb midi device information on windows xp

    - by user557353
The function midiOutGetDevCaps returns a structure MIDIOUTCAPS. I'd need more specific information when querying a usb midi device on windows xp, in particular I'd need the information displayed under "Location" when opening the respective device using the Device Manager. I need this information in order to programmatically distinguish between several MIDI Interfaces connected to a computer. Using midiOutGetDevCaps, I uniformly get "USB Audio Device" for every midi usb interface connected to the computer, so distinguishing between the interfaces is impossible.

  • Scrum meeting - dealing with the last question

    - by Wizzard
In the 5/15 minute scrum meeting the 3 questions are asked. For the last question "what impediments are getting in your way" If a dev has problems - the xyz is going to have problems, this is likely going to draw the meeting out past 15 mins and could go into a hour long discussion. Is it the scrum masters job to help this user, is there something to stop this from going on more than 15 mins. Thoughts?

  • I have a feeling that adding fields marked with @Transient annotation to entity is very bug-prone. A

    - by Roman
I have some philosophical feeling that adding to an entity fields which doesn't mapped to the DB is a wrong way of solving problems. But are there any concrete situations where using @Transient fields leads to implicit and hard fixing problems? For example, is it possible that adding/removing 2nd level cache will break our app when there are @Transient fields in our entities?

  • mathing string in python

    - by nani
Write two functions, called countSubStringMatch and countSubStringMatchRecursive that take two arguments, a key string and a target string. These functions iteratively and recursively count the number of instances of the key in the target string. You should complete definitions forthe remaining problems, we are going to explore other substring matching ideas. These problems can be solved with either an iterative function or a recursive one. You are welcome to use either approach, though you may find iterative approaches more intuitive in these cases of matching linear structures
