• How to handle multiple delegates

  I've got a view in my app that does pretty much everything, and I like it that way. The problem however is that it's implementing 5 or 6 different delegates, which seems a little bit messy. My question is, does the view controller have to implement all of the delegates? or is there some way I can separate the code out into different files (without having to do a major restructure or rewrite)?   Following the howto Extending the Active Directory Schema To Track Custom Info I'm able to setup a single-value schema attribute that is easily changeable via a context menu in ADUC. Multi-value schema attributes get considerably more complicated. Say (for the sake of argument) my value is "Projects" and each user may be a list as many projects as necessary. • How do I protect myself?

  I was poking around at my work computer this evening and was looking at my timesheets. I noticed that all my timesheets had variables in the URLs and I could figure out the numbering scheme for the pages. Then I got a little curious about SQL injection and thought of trying out adding simple SQL injections like "OR 1=1" etc. to see how protected we really were with our timesheet info. One of these strings yielded a friendly error page saying that an error email was sent to the developer. I am concerned that my ID, and request will be seen by the developer , immediately recognized as SQL injection and will be reported to network security officer as a malicious attempt by an employee to hack the timesheet dB. what is my defense? I am really worried.

• Windows threading: _beginthread vs _beginthreadex vs CreateThread C++

  What's a better way to start a thread? I'm trying to determine what are the advantages/disadvantages of _beginthread, _beginthreadex and CreateThread. All of these functions return a thread handle to a newly created thread, I already know that CreateThread provides a little extra information when an error occurs (it can be checked by calling GetLastError)... but what are some things I should consider when I'm using these functions? I'm working with a windows application, so cross-platform computability is already out of the question. I have gone through the msdn documentation and I just can't understand, for example, why anybody would decide to use _beginthread instead of CreateThread or vice versa. Cheers! Update: OK, thanks for all the info, I've also read in a couple of places that I can't call WaitForSingleObject() if I used _beginthread(), but if I call _endthread() in the thread shouldn't that work? What's the deal there?

CS0103: The name 'item' does not exist in the current context I can't see why it would be doing this as I'm passing item into the partial view?

• 3D effect to distort paper

  This may be a little hard to describe since I don't have a sample. I'm trying to find a math function or full 3d function in php or a similar language that can help me with the following effect: imagine if you were to take a flat sheet or paper and glue it on a glass of water. It wouldn't be flat any more. It would have a curve, and one of its sides might end up being slightly hidden.   Can someone please help me out with a JavaScript/jQuery solution for this arithmetic problem: I need to subtract one number from the other. The problem is that the numbers have a dollar sign (because its money), therefore jQuery is treating them as strings instead of numbers. I have created two variables - toalAssets and totalLiabilites. I would like to subtract the latter from the former and place the result into another variable called netWorth. Perhaps i need to use parseFloat()? But I'm not sure how - This is all a little over my head!

  Hi, I need a little help with ClientDatasets in Delphi. What I want to achieve is a grid showing customers, where one of the columns shows the number of orders for each customer. I put a ClientDataset on a form and load Customers.xml from Delphi demo-data. Another ClienDataset is loaded with orders.xml. Relatively simple, I can define an aggregate on the orders CDS showing the total amount per customer (or the count). (See Cary Jensens article on this: http://edn.embarcadero.com/article/29272) The problem is getting this aggregate result from orders dataset into the customer dataset. It is kind of an reverse lookup, since there is a 1-n relationship between customers and orders, not an n-1 as normally in lookup scenarios. Any ideas ? Søren

• Is there a DOS command for verifying what version of .NET is installed

  I have set of scripts for doing scripted installs. You can use the scripts on any server 2008 machine. However, I need to check if .NET 3.5 has been installed (before the scripts run) using a dos batch file. Is that possible? I know I can check if a file in the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5 exists, but it would be nice to have something a little more reliable. I would like to check if it's actually installed, not just if the dir/file exists. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance.

• Whats faster in Javascript a bunch of small setInterval loops, or one big one?

  Just wondering if its worth it to make a monolithic loop function or just add loops were they're needed. The big loop option would just be a loop of callbacks that are added dynamically with an add function. adding a function would look like this setLoop(function(){ alert('hahaha! I\'m a really annoying loop that bugs you every tenth of a second'); }); setLoop would add the function to the monolithic loop. so is the is worth anything in performance or should I just stick to lots of little loops using setInterval?

• jQuery tooltips on a dynamically generated page.

  Him I'm trying to add a jQuery tooltip to a dynamically generated list, the text I want to display the tooltip on is in a table, so my CSS tooltip doesn't work: CSS tooltip. I tried to add this jQuery tooltip to the page, it works on my local test page, but I think the problem has something to do with uniqur ids, and I'm not sure how to implement the bind all function explained there: "To bind all of the targets to their corresponding content, it takes only one line: $(".tooltip-target").ezpz_tooltip(); Calling ezpz_tooltip() on a class will bind the hover event to each element, and because of the naming convention it will know which content to display." Can someone help me to understand what exactly I have to do to make this work on a dynamic page? The page is Euroworker's checkout product page. (You'll have to add some items to the basket, click the home button on the left of the bnav bar and click the little white button "kjøp" then the orange button "handlevogn".) Thanks.

• "Genie" animation effect in XAML

  What would the XAML look like to create a Genie animation effect? Take an object of any size/shape, and "Genie" it to another Minimized location. Kind of like the OSX window minimize. Maybe even a little fancier through a smoke-like effect where the path is more switch back, instead of a simple funnel (if that makes any sense). I'm guessing that there is some sort of Path that could be drawn, and the shape could move and transform along that path. Just a wild guess. Thanks for your ideas.

  Say I have assembly A. It was modified with Mono.Cecil a little bit. Now say I have assembly B. It has a class named SomeClass. Assembly A also has a class named SomeClass. Now I want to replace SomeClass from assembly A with the one in assembly B. I tried a few things, but I know that for one of my attempts, it actually remapped a method call like this: Console.WriteLine("Test."); ...into this: int.WriteLine("Test."); That can't be right. What is the correct way to replace a class with Mono.Cecil?

  I'm working on an automatic trading system. What sorts of safe-guards should I have in place? The main idea I have is to have multiple pieces checking each other. I will have a second independent little process which will also connect to the same trading account and monitor simple things, like ensuring the total net position does not go over a certain limit, or that there are no more than N orders in 10 minutes for example, or more than M positions open simultaneously. You can also check that the actual open positions correspond to what the strategy process thinks it actually holds. As a bonus I could run this checker process on a different machine/network provider. Besides the checks in the main strategy, this will ensure that whatever weird bug occurs, nothing really bad can happen. Any other things I should monitor and be aware of?

  For a game I need to adjust a price to the given demand. There's a shop which sells one item. If lots of people buy the item, the price should increase. If less people buy it, the price should decrease. How could I achieve this? This is just a little part of the game so I don't need a perfect solution. Just a very easy solution which does it so that the price is adjusted. Something like this: For every sold item, increase the price by 1,000 On every day, decrease the price by 1,500 (only one time) Don't let the price become negative Thank you very much in advance!

• Redirect away from HTTPS with ASP.NET MVC App

  I'm using ASP.NET MVC 2 and have a login page that is secured via HTTPS. To ensure that the user always accesses those pages via SSL, I've added the attribute [RequiresHttps] to the controller. This does the job perfectly. When they have successfully logged in, I'd like to redirect them back to HTTP version. However, there isn't a [RequiresHttp] attribute and I'm struggling to get my head around how I might achieve this. The added (potential) complication is that the website when in production is hosted at the route of the domain, but for development and testing purposes it is within a sub directory / virtual directory / application. Am I over-thinking this and is there an easy solution staring me in the face? Or is it a little more complex?

  I need to store some data that looks a little like this: xyz 123 abc 456 hij 678 rer 838 Now I would just store it as a traditional string and integer model, and put in the datastore. But the data changes regularly, and is ONLY relevant when looked at as a COLLECTION. So it needs to be store as either a list of lists, or a list of objects, both of which can't really be done without pickling as far as I know. Can anyone help? Even storing it as a text file may work :S

  Hi, i am implementing a little Black Jack game in C# and i have the following problem calculating the player's hand value. the problem is Ace may have value of 1 or 11 so if the players has three cards and one Ace if the sum of the cards is <= 10 Ace will have value of 11(Sorry for who doesn't know the scope of the game is to reach 21 with the sum of the cards) Other way value of 1 Up to here is easy Now lets assume i do not know how many Aces the player has got and the game is implemented giving the possibility to the dealer to use more than one deck of cards. the user may have in one hand even 5,6,7,8 ... aces. What is the best way(possibly using Linq) to evaluate all the aces the player has got to get the closest combination to 21 (in addition tot he other cards)?   I want to defined a variable/parameter in CSS and access it by javascript. What is the best way of doing this? One option I thought of would be to place a cutsom attribute on the body element, then access that attribute via jQuery. A little more info: I'm defining colour sets in CSS. I've created a function with RaphaelJS to draw a gradient background on the page. I want this function to use a highlight colour (which is not used elsewhere on the DOM) which will be defined in the CSS along with the other colour elements. Thanks

• Calling https process from ASP Net

  I have an ASP NET web server application that calls another process running on the same box that creates a pdf file and returns it. The second process requires a secure connection via SSL. The second process has issued my ASP NET application with a digital certificate but I still cannot authenticate, getting a 403 error. The code is a little hard to show but here's a simplified method ... • starting subactivity for the second time causes java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

  Hi there, I am developing a simple app which does a little bit of image-processing. It's divided in two activities; the main one with some display elements and the second one which is used to capture images off the phone's camera. To discribe my problem: I start the app, capture an image (by starting a new Intent with the subactivity) and all data is displayed correctly. If I capture another image after this, I run in an java.lang.OutOfMemoryError - bitmap size exceeds VM budget I dont store the captured bitmap, in the second activity I just extract some data from it and pass it to the main-activity; finishing (finish()) the sub-activity afterwards. I really dont know what I can do about it.
