• how to implement IOC without a global static service (non-service locator solution)?

  Hi, we want to use Unity for IOC. All i've seen is the implementation that there is one global static service which holds a reference to the Unity container, which registers all interface/class combinations and every class asks that object: give me an implementation for Ithis or IThat. Frequently i see a response that this pattern is not good because it leads to a dependency from ALL classes to this service. But what i don't see often, is: what is the alternative way? • Partial compilation of openwrt project

  I would like to get an idea or reference to compile only subset on the openwrt project. i am aware of the menuconfig utility but this is not enough for my goal. i would like to compile only the tool-chain (binutils + gcc + glibc) for a specific target (ar71xx) and also the kernel. now, after looking in the makefiles etc, i have noticed that most of the work in actually patching the toolchain and the kernel and then compile it. is there any option to stop build process after the patching so i can have only the source code patched and i can write my own make file to compile it?

Is using .Include to include all the users, and going through the UsersReference the best way to loop through all the users that are associated with the role? I noticed I could not do a foreach(User user in role.Users) but UsersReference seem to work, but is that how it's supposed to be done? • Seam cache provider with ehcache null

  Hi every one, I'm trying to configure seam/ehcache following the tutorial from jboss page: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.1.2/reference/en-US/html/cache.html I put the ehcache.1.2.3.jar in project.ear/lib and injected CacheProvider as especified, but the CacheProvider always return null. The documentation doesn't show any aditional configuration for ehcache, just for jboss cache. • Errata for Java Language Specification 3rd Edition

  I use JLS extensively both as a learning and teaching resource, but I've noticed that there are some errors in it. There's the simple typos (e.g. JLS 5.1.4 "convesions"), but there's also some that I consider quite serious errors. For example, JLS 18.1 The Grammar of the Java Programming Language is supposed to be the authoritative reference for the grammar of the Java language, but it contains a production rule that never gets used! (e.g. MoreStatementExpressions). Surely this is a sign of more serious errors in other parts of the given grammar, right? So is there an errata for the 3rd edition? Will there ever be? Should we send errors we've found to Sun/Oracle? Will there ever be a 4th edition?

• Problems finding classes in namespace

  I am trying to find all of the types in the Models namespace within an ASP.NET MVC assembly from within a testing assembly. I was trying to use LINQ to find the relevant set for me but it is returning an empty set on me. • Run WF 4.0 as a server-side component

  Hi all, For a new project, we need to use WF 4.0 for deploying and running workflows. Instead of hosting workflows within the application itself, we decided to implement a server-side component that is in charge of running workflows. Before WF 4.0, one had explicit access to the the runtime engine (WorkflowRuntime), which provided some basic management functionalities, such as retrieving the workflows currently running etc ... As far as I could find out, WF 4.0 lacks this explicit access, as workflows are created via the WorkflowInstance class and no reference is immediately available to the WorkflowRuntime ... If I need these management functionalities on the server side, I'm a correct that I will need to implement these myself? Or did I miss out on something ... Thanks in advance for your answers!

• Using a single visual studio 2005 solution with multiple source control applications

  In my recent SO question I was helped tremendously in using git as a front-end to ClearCase. However actually trying the suggested answer(s) led to further complications. Visual Studio keeps a reference to the used source control provider in both the .sln as well as the .csproj files. I tried resolving this issue by keeping a modified copy of the .sln with the source control provider paragraph removed but this did not help since each project also has some source control provider information. I don't want to keep private copies of all the projects since this would be a maintenance nightmare. Do any of you have suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

• Where Are the Release Versions of ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 Templating Files?

  I'm trying to get the production version of ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 Templating working and can't find the JavaScript files. With the beta version I needed to reference MicrosoftAjaxTemplates.js, MicrosoftAjaxAdoNet.js, and MicrosoftAjaxDataContext.js. I can get everything to work with the beta CDN versions (e.g. http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/beta/0911/MicrosoftAjaxTemplates.js). But for the life of me I can't find 1. The release CDN versions of these files or 2. Where to download the whole Release ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 JavaScript package. The files certainly are not listed on the ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 CDN at http://www.asp.net/ajaxlibrary/CDNAjax4.ashx. Maybe the files have been renamed? Theoretically this should be a rediculously easy question and I'm a little embarrased to even ask it on StackOverflow, but I've had no luck finding an answer on my own. • .NET interop COM DLL behaves differently in VB6 debugger

  I have a .NET v2.0 Dll that exposes a few classes to COM. The assembly is called BLogic.DLL I'm calling these classes from a legacy visual basic 6.0 application. I can generate and EXE file and if I have Blogic.dll in the same folder as the EXE, the program runs without a hitch. However If I try and launch the same program within the VB6 debugger I get a: Automation Error The system cannot find the file specified I assume when I'm running in the debugger, the PLogic.dll file can't be found. I tried putting it in the System32 folder, and the same folder as the VB6.EXE file, but I still get the same error. Other facts that may help: PLogic.dll is NOT a strongly-named assembly. It depends on a 3rd party reference that isn't strongly signed so VS doesn't let me strongly sign it. However the 3rd party functionality isn't being called by the VB6 code, and it is not ComVisible.

• Does a .NET 4.0 website load faster for a reason?

  I have been using DotNetBlogEngine for many years, and today my host (JodoHost.com) officially turned on support for .NET 4.0. What I've noticed immediately is that the website loads tremendously faster on the first load, subsequent loads are only slightly faster. The website is compiled as a .NET 2.0 web application. Is there a known reason for this performance increase? Was there a change in the .NET 4.0 framework that improved the initial load time of websites into an application pool? • Signing an unsigned assembly

  The recent upgrade of NHibernate 2.1 has brought a mega headache situation to the surface. It seems most of the projects build by default as signed assemblies. For example fluentnhibernate references the keyfile fluent.snk. Nhibernate.search builds unsigned from what I can gather and will not build signed that is if you reference a generated keyfile, you get the error: Referenced assembly 'Lucene.Net' does not have a strong name This means projects like castle.activerecord that have nhibernate.search as a dependency will not build as you get the horrendous error referenced assembly nhibernate.search does not have a strong name: Quite a few projects use caslte.activerecord so it is quite important that this builds. Has anyone any idea what to do here as I am totally out of ideas? This is complete madness.

How can I do that manually, some good examples of WCF Systems (mostly on desktop applications over TCP). I'd like a book or documentation or anything else, that can give me advanced knowledge of WCF.   Has anybody some information about accessing Lotus Domino server to fetch entire mail contents by http(s) requests from php linux server? The article by Andrei Kouvchinnikov describes well how to fetch message list in notes mail folders; after obtaining session id during login one can for example select top 100 messages by calling: https://your.server.domain/mail_db/mailbox.nsf/($Inbox)?ReadViewEntries&Start=1&Count=100 And this works perfectly. The problem arises when I am trying to get message contents (0A1DA5EEB7B65277C12576F50055D811 is an example message unique Id): https://your.server.domain/mail_db/mailbox.nsf/($Inbox)/0A1DA5EEB7B65277C12576F50055D811/?OpenDocument Such request in IE shows frameset with data hard to parse, in less common browsers like Opera it informs about unsupported browser. Ideally if it is possible to fetch notes message contents and all attachments by requesting it in the url, has anybody some information what request would it be? Link to Lotus web calls reference would be even more beneficial.

  What are the options for achieving parallelism in Python? I want to perform a bunch of CPU bound calculations over some very large rasters, and would like to parallelise them. Coming from a C background, I am familiar with three approaches to parallelism: Message passing processes, possibly distributed across a cluster, e.g. MPI. Explicit shared memory parallelism, either using pthreads or fork(), pipe(), et. al Implicit shared memory parallelism, using OpenMP. Deciding on an approach to use is an exercise in trade-offs. In Python, what approaches are available and what are their characteristics? Is there a clusterable MPI clone? What are the preferred ways of achieving shared memory parallelism? I have heard reference to problems with the GIL, as well as references to tasklets. In short, what do I need to know about the different parallelization strategies in Python before choosing between them?

  Good Morning, I have a radiobuttonlist in my ASP.NET webforms application that is used as a voting tool. The concept is as follows: Users will vote for the blurb in the contentplaceholder using the radiobuttonlist. My list item values are 1 through 3 and my list item text is something like low, medium and high. Questions: 1. I want to save and accumulate votes for a given blurb. The blurb ID is referenced in a meta tag on the content page. How do I reference the meta tag in my SQL insert statement? 2. When the radiobuttonlist is used, can it cause the next content page to be loaded after the SQL insert is done? That is, I don't necessarily want the user to make the radiobuttonlist selection, then have to click a separate button to cast vote and move to next page. I want all that done in the radiobuttonlist.   hi all, i've a little problem, i've add a default.png in my app and it work. I've modify my file, delete file and reference and upload my new file. On my iphone the image does not appear, only some second of blackscreen and after my app start. In the simulator the splashscreen appear. I've try to delete my app on iphone, make a clean all and rebuild & install but nothing... I've try to make clean all, close xcode, delete default.png to my project directory (sometimes exist, sometimes no), open xcode, add my file and build & install on my iphone but nothing... Any ideas?

• What stage of normalization is this? (moving repeating data into separate table)

  Hi There, I have noticed that when designing a database I tend to shift any repeating sets of data into a separate table. For example, say I had a table of people, with each person living in a state. I would then move these repeating states into a separate table and reference them with foreign keys. However, what if I was not storing any more data about states. I would then have a table with StateID and State in. Is this action correct? State is dependant on the primary key of the users table, so does shifting it into its own table help with anything? Thanks,

  I need a javascript solution to launch only one window, with a Java Applet in it, for a given URL. As I understand it, the hash or array or whatever I use to store the called references to the windows opened this way will be lost if the calling window is closed. Is there a way to make this work even if the calling window is closed and reopened? To basically ask the browser: "Do you have a window open with the following URL?" and if so, "What is the reference to that window?" (so I can raise it).

• Why don't web fonts in Firefox don't work on a different domain?

  I was experimenting with the fancy new OpenType font capability in Firefox 3.5 and I ran into a problem. I was trying to embed a font on a different domain than the page it would be used on, and it didn't work. I thought it may have been a bug, but from what I read on the MDC reference page, I noticed this note: In Gecko, web fonts are subject to the same domain restriction (font files must be on the same domain as the page using them), unless HTTP access controls are used to relax this restriction. It looks like they designed the browser that way on purpose. Out of curiosity, why would they do that? Is there any security risk with embedding a font? Or is it for legal trademark or copyright issues? Or something else?

• can I read exactly one UDP packet off a socket?

  Using UNIX socket APIs on Linux, is there any way to guarantee that I read one UDP packet, and only one UDP packet? I'm currently reading packets off a non-blocking socket using recvmsg, with a buffer size a little larger than the MTU of our internal network. This should ensure that I can always receive the full UDP packet, but I'm not sure I can guarantee that I'll never receive more than one packet per recvmsg call, if the packets are small. The recvmsg man pages reference the MSG_WAITALL option, which attempts to wait until the buffer is filled. We're not using this, so does that imply that recvmsg will always return after one datagram is read? Is there any way to guarantee this? Ideally I'd like a cross-UNIX solution, but if that doesn't exist is there something Linux specific?

  I have run into an interesting problem. I am currently developing php page and need to access a php variable within the javascript onload. $(document).ready(function() { var temp = <?php $page_id ?> } is this valid? I know that this might seem weird and not be allowed but I am developing a page that has two popup windows. The windows are created using the same view template and there is no way to distinguish between each other. If I stored a hidden value on the page with information unique to the page like so <input type="hidden" value="<?php $page_id ?> id="page_id" /> if there are two views open at the same time there is no way for me to get a unique page id like so var temp = $("#page_id").val(); Because there are two views witht he same input id that is not unique. Long story short is it valid to reference a php variable in the javascript.
