• Is there a way to get iTerm + Bash usability on Microsoft Windows?

  I've been using Bash for years and I really like iTerm. Is there a way to get that level of console usability for Micosoft's Windows cmd? By that I mean the sane tab completion, history (even if you close the terminal), searching back and so on, and also a terminal I can resize, with tabs, nice fonts, etc.

  I have a VM with TFS 2010 and SCVMM 2008 installed on (I know your told not to do that). I have SCVMM linked to the host and thats working good, and have configured the scvmm on the lab management tab on TFS. My question is, how can you take/roll back snapshots automatically? ie install base take snapshot install patch run tests take snapshot go back to snapshot taken at step 2 Thanks in advance.

• Is it possible to re-order Cygwin tabs in Conemu

  I can re-order 'cmd' tabs in Conemu ( as per Is that possible to reorder tabs in ConEmu?), but the WinAltLeft and WinAltRight shortcuts do not work if the tab has a Cygwin shell in it. I have tried various combinations of hotkey modifiers but none of them seem to work with the Cygwin shell. This is problematic because most of the tabs in my ConEmu have Cygwin shells. I open a Cygwin shell using the following command: C:\cygwin\bin\mintty.exe -i /Cygwin-Terminal.ico -

• How do I force my Graphite Airport to distribute 192.168.x addresses instead of 10.x.x addresses?

  I'm sharing a single IP address but there's no way to change what network it uses for distributing the private addresses via DHCP. My problem is that my VPN to work already uses the 10.x.x network, so I'd like my home to use 192.168.x. I've tried messing with the Network tab within the Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow but nothing works. I'm hoping there's some way to hack the configuration file.

• Notepad++: is there a way to force it to keep the autoindented-whitespace type?

  I wonder if we can force notepad++ to respect the previous whitespace character when it autoindents a new line: list[CR][LF] ····item1[CR][LF] ····item2[CR][LF] --->| (notepadd++ screenshot recreation showing hidden characters, because I don't have enough reputation to post images, sorry xP) If I am indenting with tabs I want a tab when notepad++ does an autoindent. But if I am indenting with spaces, I do want spaces.

  Does anybody know how you could delete the downloaded message bodies from the HDD in Windows Live Mail using a Hotmail/Live e-mail account? I know you can do it with a Gmail account in WLM by right clicking on the inbox, clicking properties, local file tab and clicking remove messages (which deletes the message bodies and not the headers).

• Weird cool screen in FF

  How do you break free of a fullscreen app on MacOS X? There are some, mostly games, that when they become unresponsive won't allow you to switch to another app with Command-Tab, and I know no other way to close that app or get away from it. Command-W or Command-Q won't work either. Is there a shortcut to launch Activity Monitor, or Terminal, to kill the application?

• Windows 7 Remote Desktop Connection Rendering Each Frame?

  When connecting to my work computer over VPN and Remote Desktop Connection, images and videos are sent back one frame at a time, which really slows things down. I'm familiar with the "Experience" tab while connecting and the only options I have checked are "Visual styles" and "Persistent bitmap caching". Isn't it possible to work remotely that is more similar to screen sharing over Skype, where there is a lag but not every single frame has to be rendered and passed back to me one at a time? Both computers are running Windows 7 Professional.

  Is there any way to get rid of the drop down cc bcc reply-to etc. field menu in the compose new message window in Mail in Mac OS X Snow Leopard? The offending menu is the one immediately to the left of the Subject field when composing a new message, and it interrupts me as I try to tab from To: to Subject: to the message body.   I realize for single applications - the application itself has to be designed to take advantage of multiple cores. But what about executing many different applications simultaneously? On my development machine at an average instance, I run multiple servers (a database server, a web server), multiple instance of IDEs (either Visual Studio or NetBeans), Web-browser with multiple tabs (in Chrome, each tab is a process on its own), FTP client, SSH client etc. Does having a multi-core system improve the ability to run multiple applications simultaneously?

• Firefox only shows a black window over RDP

  I have a Windows 7 desktop running Firefox 4. If I remote-desktop (RDP) from another PC into my already-running session, the Firefox window turns black. Flash applications are still visible, if I'm on a tab with one, and I can apparently interact with Firefox normally, I just can't see anything in the window. I'm after an explanation, if possible, and (even better!) a workaround or fix that doesn't involve a different web browser :).

  I'm trying to lock down a kiosk PC and need to disable various 'Ctrl + key' keyboard shortcuts. I started by disabling them individually using AutoHotkey... ^F4::return ^w::return ^+w::return ^Esc::return ^+Esc::return ;etc... but keep discovering new ones shortcuts (did you know that 'Ctrl + Q' in IE8 displays a tab thumbnail page). So I tried to disable the Ctrl key completely using stuff like: LCtrl::return RCtrl::return ~Ctrl::return ^::return with no luck. Any ideas?

• Set default system audio output port (for all accounts)

  The default output audio port Ubuntu doesn't work on my system. It should be "Analog Mono Output/Amplifier", instead of "Analog Output/Amplifier". I can easily change that in sound preferences, just by choosing the right port in the "Output" tab. The problem is this would only apply to a single account, and I would like to change it system-wide, so it applies to all accounts on the system (I have more than 100 users...). I'm after 2 hours of Googling, so any help would be appreciated.

• killing all instances of chrome on the command line?

  In some cases killing a single tab/process doesn't do it and I need to close Chrome entirely. Since Chrome has multiple processes, how can I close all of them at once? I know that... pgrep chrome returns all the pids, can someone tell me a trick that would allow me to close all of them by feeding them to another command or merging them to a csv or something?

I can use notepad, but I have to use mouse or alt-tab extensively in order to switch from notepad to the player to pause the movie. • I have 2 identical windows 2008 r2 servers with 32G RAM, one shows "Installed Memory(Ram): 32.0GB" a

  the server model: HP Poliant DL160 G5, both servers have identical product ID. for some reason one of the servers have 4GB ram reserved. it shows in the memory tab on the Resource monitor as "Hardware Reserved". I've googled it a bit and found some post related to msconfig boot parameters (but mine are properly set) and some post related to memory remap option in the bios but it is not available in my servers bios so in a bit lost... help?
