  • Issues with rake after installing FreeImage on Mac OS X 10.6

    I am trying to setup my dev environment on my Mac (running Mac OS X 10.6) for my work's rails application. It requires FreeImage and now that I have installed that, I run rake db:migrate and receive the following error: dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: _FreeImage_SetOutputMessage Referenced from: /Users/username/.ruby_inline/Inline_ImageScience_cdab.bundle Expected in: flat namespace dyld: Symbol not found: _FreeImage_SetOutputMessage Referenced from: /Users/username/.ruby_inline/Inline_ImageScience_cdab.bundle Expected in: flat namespace Trace/BPT trap I have tried searching around for the error but am at a complete loss as to where to go or what to try in order to resolve this issue.

  • Automatically running thread stopped after the application idling for more than 1 hour

    I have a web application which runs on IIS 6.0 and it has a thread that runs on the applicaion startup. That thread will run continously after the application startup with a sleep time of 10 seconds (This will update the application cache from getting the data from DB). But once the application is idle for more than 1 hour this thread is no longer running. Please give me a solution for continously run this thread.

  • Passing ViewModel for backbone.js from MVC3 Server-Side

    In ASP.NET MVC there is Model, View and Controller. MODEL represents entities which are stored in database and essentially is all the data used in a application (for example, generated by EntityFramework, "DB First" approach). Not all data from model you want to show in the view (for example, hashs of passwords). So you create VIEW MODEL, each for every strongly-typed-razor-view you have in application. Like this: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; namespace MyProject.ViewModels.SomeController.SomeAction { public class ViewModel { public ViewModel() { Entities1 = new List<ViewEntity1>(); Entities2 = new List<ViewEntity2>(); } public List<ViewEntity1> Entities1 { get; set; } public List<ViewEntity2> Entities2 { get; set; } } public class ViewEntity1 { //some properties from original DB-entity you want to show } public class ViewEntity2 { } } When you create complex client-side interfaces (I do), you use some pattern for javascript on client, MVC or MVVM (I know only these). So, with MVC on client you have another model (Backbone.Model for example), which is third model in application. It is a bit much. Why don`t we use the same ViewModel model on a client (in backbone.js or another framework)? Is there a way to transfer CS-coded model to JS-coded? Like in MVVM pattern, with knockout.js, when you can do like this: in SomeAction.cshtml: <div style="display: none;" id="view_model">@Json.Encode(Model)</div> after that in Javascript-code var ViewModel = ko.mapping.fromJSON($("#view_model").get(0).innerHTML); now you can extend your ViewModel with some actions, event handlers, etc: ko.utils.extend(ViewModel, { some_function: function () { //some code } }); So, we are not building the same view model on the client again, we are transferring existing view model from server. At least, data. But knockout.js is not suitable for me, you can`t build complex UI with it, it is just data-binding. I need something more structural, like backbone.js. The only way to build ViewModel for backbone.js I can see now is re-writing same ViewModel in JS from server with hands. Is there any ways to transfer it from server? To reuse the same viewmodel on server view and client view?

  • how to save html to a database field

    i have an tiny editor web page where my users can use this editor and i am saving the html into my database. i am having issues saving this html to my database. for example if there is a name with a "'" or if there are other html character "<,","" etc, my code seems to blow up on the insert. Is there any best practices about taking any arbitrary html and have it persist fully to a db field without worrying about any specific characters.

    I have a list of items stored in the DB, simplified schema is like this: id, parent, name I need to generate a tree structure (in a form of a multi-dimensional array) that can be infinite levels deep. Top level items would have parent = 0. Next level down would have parent equal to the the id of the parent item, fairly straight forward. Can I point multiple WP installs to one database? A harder way would be export a master db and importing it to each install.     Hi, During my file upload process, I found illegal character getting saved in Table. zurück.pdf, C _Word.doc were the file names. Here ü, space between C and _Word was found as ? in the Table Column. I have validate the filename in client side by replacing non-alpha numeric values by _ (underscore), but still it escapes and persist into DB. How can these handled in Client side?

    I have a childwindow with a number of Textboxes, Comboboxes, and DatePickers. I want to know if a user has changed any value in these (to know if I need to save to db) One way I could think of doing this are in the 'on chg' event handlers and set bool. But if a user changes the value, in say a combobox, then changes back to the original this would still be seen as a change. Are there other alternatives?     i have list of student who have Nintendo DSs, and they should log in my website to solve some sheets (by using DS Opera browser), when they logged in , (status filed at my DB will change from 0 to 1),also the status change to 0 if they log out, what i need is when the student didn't log out and Shut down their DS's , the status should be 0,, i don't have an idea to it, any suggestion would be helpful for me ..   • RubyMine Folder Tree doesn't refresh

    Hi Using RubyMine 2.0.2 for the first time today, on Mac OSX Leopard. If I create files in the filesystem (with, say, script/generate) those new files do not appear in rubymine. I have had limited success with restarting the program, in that the files in the db/ folder are added and removed, but unfortunately new folders in the views directory are not shown. Pardon my french, but wtf? Thanks

  • Is it bad to use a model directly from a view in codeigniter?

    I know normally the data is passed thru to the view with the controller. however, currently in my view I load my model ($this-load-model('Db_model');) so i can use it in a loop to retrieve a users profile picture path from a array of IDs that is passed from controller. Will loading the db model in the view to accomplish this make my site more vulnerable or bad form? To me it seems to be outside of MVC concept but its working atm. thanks
