  • Installing rtorrent on my ubuntu server

    - by Shishant
Hello, I am try to install rtorrent on my ubuntu server. I ran these commands and they worked fine. ./autogen.sh ./configure --with-xmlrpc-c make and then when i tried to use make install i guess it didnt get install because no .rtorrent.rc' was created in home directory and running rtorrent returned this error rtorrent: error while loading shared libraries: libtorrent.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory below is the log of my make install. root@ubuntu:~/rtorrent-0.8.6# make install Making install in doc make[1]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/doc' make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/doc' make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. test -z "/usr/local/share/man/man1" || /bin/mkdir -p "/usr/local/share/man/man1" /usr/bin/install -c -m 644 './rtorrent.1' '/usr/local/share/man/man1/rtorrent.1 ' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/doc' make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/doc' Making install in src make[1]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src' Making install in core make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/core' make[3]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/core' make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/core' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/core' Making install in display make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/display' make[3]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/display' make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/display' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/display' Making install in input make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/input' make[3]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/input' make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/input' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/input' Making install in rpc make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/rpc' make[3]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/rpc' make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/rpc' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/rpc' Making install in ui make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/ui' make[3]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/ui' make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/ui' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/ui' Making install in utils make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/utils' make[3]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/utils' make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/utils' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src/utils' make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src' make[3]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src' test -z "/usr/local/bin" || /bin/mkdir -p "/usr/local/bin" /bin/bash ../libtool --mode=install /usr/bin/install -c 'rtorrent' '/usr/loc al/bin/rtorrent' libtool: install: /usr/bin/install -c rtorrent /usr/local/bin/rtorrent make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src' make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src' make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6/src' make[1]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6' make[2]: Entering directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6' make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'. make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6' make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/rtorrent-0.8.6' Thank You.

  • Active Directory: how to be SURE users can change their own passwords?

    - by Latro
Working on some project where a tool we have has to authenticate against AD connecting via LDAPS and perform password changes if required or requested. IN THEORY, the tool does that, and we have seen it work in other projects. IN PRACTICE, against this particular directory, it fails. Been driving me crazy. The particulars of the situation: Windows 2003 AD Defined a "technical user" for the LDAP connection with rights to change users passwords When password change is required - in this case, because pwdLastSet is 0 - the tool uses the technical account to go, bind to the controller and change the user password. If password change is not required but the user request it, then the bind is done with the user account. That last condition is the one that doesnt work. With the technical user the password change is possible, but with the user itself, it isnt. We get an error like this: LDAP access failed: javax.naming.directory.InvalidAttributeValueException: [LDAP: error code 19 - 0000052D: AtrErr: DSID-03190F00, #1: 0: 0000052D: DSID-03190F00, problem 1005 (CONSTRAINT_ATT_TYPE), data 0, Att 9005a (unicodePwd) no idea what DSID-03190F00 means cause it doesnt seem to be anywhere in google :-/ Been looking at several MS documentation pages and frankly, I'm not understanding one bit of it. There is some "control access right" called User-Change-Password that may, or may not, control what objects have the right to change their own password, which may, or may not, have to do with ACE and ACLs... There is GPO. There is maybe the password policy but it is only set to ask for passwords of 6 chars or more... Can anybody explain to me in easy-to-check steps how can I go and tell the AD admin guy (who is as lost as me) what to do to ensure that users in the AD directory (objectClass top, person, organizationalPerson and user) are able to change their own passwords by themselves? Thanks in advance

  • ASP.Net Application Trust Medium File IO Outside Virtual Directory

    - by Trey Gramann
I am trying to determine how suicidal this is... I have a hosting environment where a custom ASP.Net CMS application needs to access the files in the root folder of a website even though it is in a virtual folder so it can be shared accross many sites. I can modify the Medium trust on the server and came up with this... <IPermission class="FileIOPermission" version="1" Read="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." Write="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." Append="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.." PathDiscovery="$AppDir$;$AppDir$\.."/> Oddly enough, it works. Yes, I understand it is doing this for all the Apps. I am a bit at a loss as to easy ways to test what else is being exposed. Feels dangerous. Opinions?

  • How to use Windows login for single-sign-on and for Active Directory entries for Desktop Java applic

    - by Touko
I'd like to have my desktop Java application to have single sign on related to Active Directory users. In two steps, I'd like to : Be sure that the particular user has logged in to Windows with some user entry. Check out some setup information for that user from the Active Directory With http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31394/java-programatic-way-to-determine-current-windows-user I can get the name of the current Windows user but can I rely to that? I think the System.getProperty("user.name") won't be secure enough? ("user.name" seems to be got from environment variables, so I can't rely on that, I think?) Question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/390150/authenticating-against-active-directory-with-java-on-linux provides me the authentication for given name+pass but I'd like to authenticate based on the Windows logon? For the Active Directory access, the LDAP would probably be the choise? I'm not totally sure if I'm asking the right questions but hopefully somebody has some ideas to forward me on.

  • Sort and display directory list alphabetically using opendir() in php

    - by felixthehat
    Hi there, php noob here - I've cobbled together this script to display a list of images from a folder with opendir, but I can't work out how (or where) to sort the array alphabetically <?php // opens images folder if ($handle = opendir('Images')) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { // strips files extensions $crap = array(".jpg", ".jpeg", ".JPG", ".JPEG", ".png", ".PNG", ".gif", ".GIF", ".bmp", ".BMP", "_", "-"); $newstring = str_replace($crap, " ", $file ); //asort($file, SORT_NUMERIC); - doesnt work :( // hides folders, writes out ul of images and thumbnails from two folders if ($file != "." && $file != ".." && $file != "index.php" && $file != "Thumbnails") { echo "<li><a href=\"Images/$file\" class=\"thickbox\" rel=\"gallery\" title=\"$newstring\"><img src=\"Images/Thumbnails/$file\" alt=\"$newstring\" width=\"300\" </a></li>\n";} } closedir($handle); } ?> Any advice or pointers would be much appreciated!

  • Ideal directory structure for web application

    - by rno
I'm about to create a user based website and will have to store photo, docs and other data for each user. If I take a silly number like 1 000 000 000 users, I believe than one folder with 1 000 000 000 won't be the fastest thing in the world! So I was thinking of creating something like 1st level : [a-z] 2nd level : [a-z] 3rd level : [a-z] Therefor bobby will be in /b/o/b/by But this also mean that it won't be spread equaly, because there will be very few user starting with a z and many more with a m,s,l ... so I was thinking of using a user id such as "000000000001", "000000000001" etc... 1st level : [000-999] 2nd level : [000-999] 3rd level : [000-999] therefore data of the user 000000000001 will be store in /data/000/000/000/001 then I will be sure to have a maximum of 1000 folder in each level. What do you guys think about it, what I should do or not do ? The server will be running Centos 5.4 with EXT3 on raid 1, if the I/O get's too bad i will probably go for a raid 10.

  • Domain migration - 301 Redirect of all contentes of directory)

    - by Trufa
Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to do the following considering that I would like to migrate domains. I have lets say: one.com/files/one.html one.com/files/two.php one.com/other/three.html one.com/other/four.doc one.com/other/subdirectory/five.doc I am migrating to two.com So I would like to make RESPECTIVE 301 redirects to the following: two.com/old/files/one.html two.com/old/files/two.php two.com/old/other/three.html two.com/old/other/four.doc two.com/old/other/subdirectory/five.doc I've tried with cPanel and although I come "close" with the redirects option I can't seem to make it happen. The folders are not much (10 -12) the file are a lot, and obviously impossible to make it manually. How would you proceed? Can this/ should this be done with regex from the .htaccess?? Can you direct all the elements of a subdirectory in the manner expressed above? I hope the question is clear enough, if not please ask for any clarification needed!! Thanks in advance!!

  • Getting the names of all files in a directory with PHP

    - by Greelmo
    For some reason, I keep getting a '1' for the file names with this code: if (is_dir($log_directory)) { if ($handle = opendir($log_directory)) { while($file = readdir($handle) !== FALSE) { $results_array[] = $file; } closedir($handle); } } When I echo each element in $results_array, I get a bunch of '1's, not the name of the file. How do I get the name of the files?

  • Manipulating Directory Paths in Python

    - by G Ullman
Basically I've got this current url and this other key that I want to merge into a new url, but there are three different cases. Suppose the current url is localhost:32401/A/B/foo if key is bar then I want to return localhost:32401/A/B/bar if key starts with a slash and is /A/bar then I want to return localhost:32401/A/bar finally if key is its own independent url then I just want to return that key = htt p://foo.com/bar - http://foo.com/bar I assume there is a way to do at least the first two cases without manipulating the strings manually, but nothing jumped out at me immediately in the os.path module.

  • Delete directory by referencing symbolic link

    - by Adam
To set up the question, imagine this scenario: mkdir ~/temp cd ~/ ln -s temp temporary rm -rf temporary, rm -f temporary, and rm temporary each will remove the symbolic link but leave the directory ~/temp/. I have a script where the name of the symbolic link is easily derived but the name of the linked directory is not. Is there a way to remove the directory by referencing the symbolic link, short of parsing the name of the directory from ls -od ~/temporary?

  • Active Directory Management with PowerShell in Windows Server 2008 R2

One of the first things you notice with Windows Server 2008 R2 is that PowerShell 2.0 has become central to the admin function There is a powerful Active Directory module for Powershell that contains a provider and cmdlets that are designed to allow you to manage Active Directory from the command line. Now, you can also use versions for previous versions of Windows Server.

  • How to view / enumerate / obtain a list of all effective rights / permissions on an Active Directory object?

    - by Laura
I am new to Server Fault and was hoping to find an answer to a question that I have been struggling with for the past week or so. I have been recently asked by my management to furnish a list of all the effective rights / permissions delegated on the Active Directory object for our Domain Admins group. I initially figured I'd use the Effective Permissions Tab in Active Directory Users and Computers but had two problems with it. The first was that it doesn't seem very accurate and the second was that it requires me to enter the name of a specific user, and it only shows me what it figures are effective permissions for that user. Now, we have more than a 1000 users in our environment so there's no way I can possibly enter 1000 user names one by one. Plus, there is no way to export that information either. I also looked at dsacls from MS but it doesn't do effective permissions. Someone pointed me to a tool called ADUCAdmin but that seems to falsely claim to do effective permissions. Could someone kindly help me find a way to obtain this listing? Basically, I need to generate a list of all the modify effective permissions granted on the Domain Admins group object along with the list of all the admins to which these permissions are granted. In case it helps, I don't need a fancy listing - simple text / CSV output would be enough I would be grateful for any assistance since this is time and security sensitive for us.

  • How to inactive Active Directory users, 1 month after their FIRST LOGIN, instead of defining a solid expiration date

    - by smhnaji
We want to give access to some Active Directory users, so they can remotely have access to our server and download from a special folder of the server. The licenses we give to users, are time base. There should be 1 month, 2 month, ..., 1 year, ... licenses. CURRENT SITUATION (WHAT I DON'T WANT): When users are created and added to the OS, a solid expiration date is given. WHAT I WANT: Users' expiration date should be calculated automatically after the first login. The user might not need his account right when purchases the license. In other words: When a license of the user we create is purchased at Jan 1st, he should use the license until Feb 1st. No matter whether he really logs in or not. He cannot come Feb 5th and begin using his license because that has expired then. What I want is that when he comes at Feb 5th and begins using, the license update until March 5th. Working environment is Windows Server 2012. By the word 'user', I mean Active Directory Users.

  • PAM with KRB5 to Active Directory - How to prevent update of AD password?

    - by Ex Umbris
I have a working Fedora 9 system that's set up to authenticate users via PAM - krb5 - Active Directory. I'm migrating this to Fedora 14, and everything works, but it's working too well :-) On Fedora 9, if a Linux user updated their password, it did not propagate to their Active Directory account. On Fedora 14, it is changing their A/D password. The problem is I don't want A/D to be updated. Here's my password-auth-ac: auth required pam_env.so auth sufficient pam_unix.so nullok try_first_pass auth requisite pam_succeed_if.so uid >= 500 quiet auth sufficient pam_krb5.so use_first_pass auth required pam_deny.so account required pam_unix.so account sufficient pam_localuser.so account sufficient pam_succeed_if.so uid < 500 quiet account [default=bad success=ok user_unknown=ignore] pam_krb5.so account required pam_permit.so password requisite pam_cracklib.so try_first_pass retry=3 type= password sufficient pam_unix.so sha512 shadow nullok try_first_pass use_authtok password sufficient pam_krb5.so use_authtok password required pam_deny.so session optional pam_keyinit.so revoke session required pam_limits.so -session optional pam_systemd.so session [success=1 default=ignore] pam_succeed_if.so service in crond quiet use_uid session required pam_unix.so session optional pam_krb5.so I tried removing the line password sufficient pam_krb5.so use_authtok But then when attempting to change the Linux password, if they provide their A/D password for the authentication prompt, they get the error: passwd: Authentication token manipulation error What I want to achieve is: Allow authentication with either the A/D or Linux password (the Linux password is a fall-back for certain sysadmin users in case A/D is unavailable for some reason). This is working now. Allow users to change their Linux passwords without affecting their A/D passwords. Is this possible?

  • How do we keep Active Directory resilient across multiple sites?

    - by Alistair Bell
I handle much of the IT for a company of around 100 people, spread across about five sites worldwide. We're using Active Directory for authentication, mostly served to Linux (CentOS 5) systems via LDAP. We've been suffering through a spate of events where the IP tunnel between the two major sites goes down and the secondary domain controller at one site can't contact the primary domain controller at the other. It seems that the secondary domain controller starts denying user authentication within minutes of losing connectivity to the primary. How do we make the secondary domain controller more resilient to downtime? Is there a way for it to cache the entire directory and/or at least keep enough information locally to survive a multi-hour disconnection? (We're all in a single organizational unit if that makes any difference.) (The servers here are Windows Server 2003; don't assume that we set this up correctly. I'm a software engineer, not an IT specialist.)
