    Hi All, I am very new to Flex/Bison, So it is very navie question. Pardon me if so. May look like homework question - but I need to implement project based on below concept. My question is related to two parts, Question 1 In Bison parser, How do I provide rules for optional input. Like, I need to parse the statment Example : -country='USA' -state='INDIANA' -population='100' -ratio='0.5' -comment='Census study for Indiana' Here the ratio token can be optional. Similarly, If I have many tokens optional, then How do I provide the grammer in the parser for the same? My code looks like, %start program program : TK_COUNTRY TK_IDENTIFIER TK_STATE TK_IDENTIFIER TK_POPULATION TK_IDENTIFIER ... where all the tokens are defined in the lexer. Since there are many tokens which are optional, If I use "|" then there will be many different ways of input combination possible. Question 2 There are good chance that the comment might have quotes as part of the input, so I have added a token -tag which user can provide to interpret the same, Example : -country='USA' -state='INDIANA' -population='100' -ratio='0.5' -comment='Census study for Indiana$'s population' -tag=$ Now, I need to reinterpret Indiana$'s as Indiana's since -tag=$.     Hello, I am looking for a cheap solution to my problem: I need to find either a common device (that is used in restaurants, bars clubs) or a cheap new device that can connect to internet (via the already existing ethernet or wireless based internet) and do HTTP request/receive response and retrieve information ? (For instance can a POS device connect to internet?) For a project, I need to do identity validation on several restaurants and bars and not all of them have computers. So I will be giving "cheap and easy to use devices" and non-IT personal can use it to do http request to my server and get response. All I can think of is Cell phones and SMS.

    I can see how a cipher can be developed using substitutions and keys, and how those two things can become more and more complex, thus offering some protection from decryption through brute-force approaches. But specifically I'm wondering: what other major concepts beyond substitution and key are involved? is the protection/secrecy of the key a greater vulnerability than the strength of the encryption? why does encryption still hold up when the key is 'public' ? are performance considerations a major obstacle to the development of more secure encryption?

  • Basic Subversion questions

    I've just started using subversion, and have read the official documentation (svn book), cheat sheet and a couple of guides. I know how to install subversion (in linux), create a repository (svnadmin create), and import my Eclipse project into the repository (SVN import), view the repository files (using svn list). But I am unable to understand some of the other terminologies. For example, after importing my Eclipse project into the newly created repository I have made changes to my Eclipse project (more than 1 file). Now, how should I update the repository with this added files/changes made to my Eclipse project? The svn update command brings the changes from the repository into your working copy - which is the opposite of what I want i.e. bring the changes I made in my Eclipse project into the previously imported project in repository. If I am correct, you update the repository more often (as you keep extending your project implementation) than your current project (with update). Also, I do not understand when would you use svn merge. The svn book states it applies the differences between 2 sources to a working copy. Is there a scenario which would explain this? Finally, can I have more than 1 project checked into the repository? Or is it better to create a new repository for each project?

    Greetings all, I've written software in the past that uses a stack to check for balanced equations, but now I'm asked to write a similar algorithm recursively to check for properly nested brackets and parenthesis. Good examples: () [] () ([]()[]) Bad examples: ( (] ([)] Suppose my function is called: isBalanced. Should each pass evaluate a smaller substring (until reaching a base case of 2 left)? Or, should I always evaluate the full string and move indices inward?

    I am new to programming PHP and am trying to validate a field in a form. The field if for a RAL color code and so would look something like : RAL 1001. so the letters RAL and then 4 numbers.   • Basic doubt about sensor usage

    Suppose I have a cellphone with accelerometer and magnetometer, and want to determine its absolute (wrt North/East/South/West) 3d position. Imagine the phone is laid vertically, with the screen facing me, the "up" vector pointing to the ceil. Whenever I tilt, the accelerometer allows me to get the "up" vector info change. The problem is that if I tilt the device and put it horizontally (screen now facing ceil, and "up" vector pointing to the opposite of where I am), then the up vector doesn't get updated any more if I rotate the phone horizontally on the table. This is something that clearly is detected by the magnetometer now. So, the question is, when to know where to use acc or mag for each case? Is there a generic way to achieve this?

    How to rotate an ellipse (or any other object) with VB code? In XAML, I designed an ellipse and easily rotated it from the properties (Transform - Rotate - Angle). When I am trying to do it with VB code, I cannot locate the rotate/angle property of that ellipse. So, I tried this: Dim Rotator As RotateTransform Rotator.Angle = 90 Ellipse1.RenderTransform = Rotator It didn’t work. It says: Unable to cast object of type 'Windows.UI.Xaml.Media.MatrixTransform' to type 'Windows.UI.Xaml.Media.RotateTransform'. I think I’m close to the right way. Please give me a push. Thanks

    I have read a few articles mentioning converters from one language to another. I'm a bit more than skeptical about the use of such kind of tools. Does anyone know or have experiences let's say about Visual Basic to Java or vs converters? Just one example to pick http://www.tvobjects.com/products/products.html, claims to be the "world leader" or so in that aspect, However if read this: http://dev.mysql.com/tech-resources/articles/active-grid.html There the author states: "The consensus of MySQL users is that automated conversion tools for MS Access do not work. For example, tools that translate existing Access applications to Java often result in 80% complete solutions where finishing the last 20% of the work takes longer than starting from scratch." Well we know we need 80% of the time to implement the first 80% functionality and another 80% of the time for the other 20 %.... So has anyone tried such tools and found them to be worthwhile?

  • Basic refactoring features (e.g., Rename) unavailable when editing code in an aspx/ascx files

    I was just editing some C# code between <% %> tags in an .ascx file, and I noticed that the Refactor contextual menu is unavailable. And even if I manually add items from this menu to a custom toolbar, they are disabled when viewing aspx/ascx files. I usually only have small snippets of C# code in my aspx/ascx files, but it would still be nice to be able to perform refactoring operations on any code that exists between <% %> tags. I feel like I'm going back to the dark ages when I have to use find/replace to change the name of a variable. Questions Is there a way to enable Visual Studio's refactoring features while viewing aspx/ascx files in Visual Studio? Are there any Visual Studio plug-ins (preferably free) that offer this kind of functionality?

    I'm creating a little photo sharing site for our home's intranet, and I have an upload feature, which uploads the photo at original size into the database. However, I also want to save the photo in four other sizes: W=1024, W=512, W=256 and W=128, but only the sizes smaller than the original size (e.g. if the original width is 511, only generate 256 and 128). How can I implement this?     I want to write a function that geometrically links performance data which is usually provided as percentages, so the function will basically return (1+a)*(1+b)*(1+c)* … *(1+x)-1 This should be done using LibreOffice-calc and it should behave similarly to the regular sum function. As you may throw any number of arguments at sum I would like to be able to do the same with my alternative geoSum function but I am unable to find suitable documentation on handling a variable number of arguments with variable types (i.e. an arbitrary mix of numbers, cells and ranges). How would I have to specify the arguments to my LibreOffice-Basic function and how would I have to interpret it?

    This looks simple but I am confused: The way I create a vector of hundred, say, ints is std::vector<int> *pVect = new std::vector<int>(100); However, looking at std::vector's documentation I see that its constructor is of the form explicit vector ( size_type n, const T& value= T(), const Allocator& = Allocator() ); So, how does the previous one work? Does new call the constructor with an initialization value obtained from the default constructor? If that is the case, would std::vector<int, my_allocator> *pVect = new std::vector<int>(100, my_allocator); where I pass my own allocator, also work?
