    I've a Pc with Ubuntu 14.04 connected to a linkys router through wlan0, and I'd like to share internet connection to an AVR with ethernet port. This is pretty simple if only internet connection is required for the AVR: actually, creating an ethernet connection as "Shared with other computers" and setting up the AVR IP configuration to use DHCP works just fine, but that makes a private class A lan between those two; of course ip addresses are not in the range of the LAN the router is managing. So, I tried with static ip on both sides (Ubuntu eth0 and AVR ip). Tried many combinations, none of them work to provide Internet access to the AVR and at the same time make the AVR accessible over the network through his static ip address (say, 192.168.0.110). Any tips around to share??

  • My website dns_server_failure when using University Connection

    My website used to open just fine in the past when I use my University connection, but now since I transfered my website to another hosting company this problem started to appear. Some times the website open and sometimes I get this alot!: Network Error (dns_server_failure) Your request could not be processed because an error occurred contacting the DNS server. The DNS server may be temporarily unavailable, or there could be a network problem. For assistance, contact your network support team. Do you have any idea? I checked using websites checking tools and my website was running just fine on any other connection , ADSL, 3g but except my University connection. Thanks in advance :) UPDATE: When I open my website using the Real IP Server it does open just fine. But with my domain nope. Also, even other websites that are hosted on my server cannot be opened too

  • DSL connection can't connect once disconnected

    I have setup a DSL PPPoE connection, over my cable modem, connected to my laptop via ethernet. I have saved the user name and password and set it to connect automatically. This works well when ubuntu starts and i am connected to internet. But if i try to disconnect and then reconnect, the connection wont be established. I have to restart or log out and log in, in order for ubuntu to establish the DSL connection. Any idea why this is happening? I am on ubuntu 11.10 64 bit.

    I'm using an Asus G50V and I'm completely new to ubuntu. I just installed it and can connect to the internet with a wired connection and through wireless from my windows vista that I installed wubi on, and I can connect to my wireless network, but I can't actually connect to the internet through my wireless network. Thanks in advance. Network controller is an Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100 according to lspci if that helps Also, the connection somehow started working after I decided to unplug my ethernet cable for the third time and headed upstairs after giving up for the day.. not sure how it happened, but after restarting, the connection stopped working again.. Wifi works on 11.10, but stops working when I upgrade back to 12.04..

    connecting with shared with other computers connection in NetworkManager. Other computer gets IP but NetworkManager disconnects the shared connection after half a second. This same setup worked perfectly fine in 11.04. Is there any fix, workaround or alternative way to share a connection with another computer over an Ethernet cable. (I can downgrade to 11.04 but I'd rather not ). EDIT: found a workaround The workaround for now is to set IPv6 options to Ignore and then sudo killall dnsmasq. Reconnect and it should work.

  • Mail reaches only after closing connection

    I have setup a postfix mail server with saslauthd. I telnet from a windows machine to send a mail. All works fine, I even get the msg 250 Mail queued for delivery. On the mailserver I see connect msgs on /var/log/mail.log for connection but not for the mail queuing or delivery. Only after I close the telnet connection I get all the valid msgs in mail.log. The mail also doesnt arrive in my Maildir/new directory until I close the connection. I am very new to Ubuntu, any pointers will be much appreciated. Many thanks.

    Hi i just got a new notebook and it came with ubuntu 12.04 lts operation system. But it can't make a wireless connection. I plugged in my Ethernet cable and i can reach the Internet with it but I need wireless connection so much. This is the first time I'm using ubuntu so i'm really confused. I can see wireless networks (including mine) but i cannot use them. It seems like it's establishing a connection but soon it gives up. Please help, I don't have much time for this and I do not have any idea about operation systems.

  • Always on VPN connection

    I have a working VPN connection. Works like a dream. What isn't working though, is the 'Connect Automatically' option in the Network Connections Manager Panel. It never connects automatically, not at boot, and not after disconnect. I'm not quite sure what that option is for. And I'll get disconnected from the VPN with no warning whatsoever. Is there a way to make sure my computer only connects to the internet through a VPN? So that if the VPN connection isn't established, my computer can't reach the internet. And is there a way to get ubuntu to attempt to reconnect to the VPN automatically if for some reason the connection drops?

Of the two wires, they are either: Color and white (reset switch, power LED, HDD LED) red and black (speaker, power switch) The manual for the motherboard has a nice diagram of where to plug them in, but has them labeled + or -.     How can I reset the ACLs on a ZFS file system on OpenIndiana that is exported via NFS4 and replace it with inherited permissions? Basically, I want to do the equivalent of icacls "C:\path\to\folder" /reset /T /C on Windows on this machine. However, neither the chmod command on OpenIndiana nor the nfs4_setacl seems to allow for deleting all ACLs although the client correctly interprets inherited ACLs if a node does not have an own one.

  • C socket: problem with connect() and/or accept() between clients. 111: Connection refused

    Hello ladies and gents, I'm having a bit of problem with accept(). I have a multiple clients and one server. The clients can connect and communicate just fine with server. But at one point, I need some clients to be directly connected to each other and I'm having a bit of difficulty there. The clients have bunch of threads going on, where one of them is handle_connection() and it has a while(1), looping forever to listen() and accept() whatever incoming connections. Whenever a client tries to connect() to other client, connect() returns an error, 111: Connection Refused. I know I have the right IP address and right port (I have specified a port just for between-client connections). The client that is waiting for connection doesn't notice anything, no new connection, nada. I copied some parts of the code, in hopes that someone can point out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for any inputs! This is all client side code. void * handle_connections(void * arg) is a thread that loops forever to accept() any incoming connections. My server has a very similar thang going on and it works very well. (not sure why it doesn't work here..)     Hi everyone, Debugging my implementation I found a memory leak issue. I know where is the issue, I tried to solve it but sadly without success. I will try to explain you, maybe someone of you can help with this. First I have two classes involved in the issue, the publish class (where publishing the service and socket configuration is done) and the connection (where the socket binding and the streams configuration is done). The main issue is in the connection via native socket. In the 'publish' class the "server" accepts a connection with a callback. The callback has the native-socket information. Then, a connection with native-socket information is created. Next, the socket binding and the streams configuration is done. When those actions are successful the instance of the connection is saved in a mutable array.   • When connected through a router, a new gateway appears, and I lose my internet connection.

    I have two computers connected to a router, connected to my ADSL modem by PPPoE. One of those computrs use Windows XP, the other uses Windows 7. The computer using Windows 7 keeps getting limited or no connectivity, and I can't use it to connect to the internet. Connecting the computer to the modem without the router 'in the way' worked, and I was able to use the internet - which led me to believe that the problem is with my router. However, I have changed my router, and the problem persists. (Just to be clear: the computer using Windows XP can connect to the internet without any problem). This entire question is about the PC using Windows 7. The only symptom of this problem is that when I see my network devices, in addition to my router (which appears as "Network 4", or something of the sort), I also see an "Unidentified Network". When using ipconfig to check the problem, I see a second gateway, with the IP 0.0.0.0, in addition to the IP of my router.

  • Connecting to a subdomain severs the connection to the domain itself. What's going on?

    Hi all. We have a website on a third-party server (server leased and shared with other websites) and the server provides access to our SQL Server database through a subdomain in the form of mssql.DomainName.com. I was told to use SQL Management Studio Express to connect to this subdomain in order to manage the database. After a few tries and getting many "Timeout" messages, I finally manage to connect to the server; everything's fine. But now I can't connect to DomainName.com anymore. Trying to browse DomainName.com using Firefox, it tries to "lookup" DomainName.com address and fails, telling me "the server was not found". I have to disconnect Management Studio from the server and wait a couple of hour for DomainName.com to become available again, and after that, trying to reconnect to the SQL Server again repeats the scenario. While I can't browse DomainName.com directly, I can use a proxy to connect to it, meaning that the problem is somehow related to a DNS my computer tries to ask to translate the name to the corresponding IP. Anyone seen anything like this before? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The iPad is unable to connect to the public url for the exchange server on the server (www.example.com) and has erratic internet access, where Windows laptops are provided with faultless internet access, even when they are not a member of the domain.   • Is it possible reinstall packages in Ubuntu without an internet connection?

    Hi everyone, While experiencing some massive problems with MYSQL, I completely removed a package called rsyslog, and I can no longer get on the internet to use the package manager to correct my mistake. I also got rid of librdf0 as well (oops). I would like to download the missing packages onto a CD with another computer, and manually reinstall them on my Ubuntu platform. Any ideas where to find these? (I am assuming this is the package I need. Either way, I still need to get access to the correct packages and install them). Thank you all very much in advance. Matt
