  • c# performance- create font

    - by user85917
    I have performance issues in this code segment which I think is caused by the "new Font". Will it be faster if fonts are static/global ? if (row.StartsWith(TILD_BEGIN)) { rtbTrace.SelectionColor = Color.Maroon; rtbTrace.SelectionFont = new Font(myFont, (float)8.25, FontStyle.Regular); if (row.StartsWith(BEGIN) ) rtbTrace.AppendText(Environment.NewLine + row + Environment.NewLine); else rtbTrace.AppendText(Environment.NewLine + row.Substring(1) + Environment.NewLine); continue; } if (row.StartsWith(EXCL_BEGIN)) { -- similar block } if (row.StartsWith(DLR_BEGIN)) { -- similar block } . . .

  • Where can I find a useful Unicode fallback font for Mac OS X?

    - by Stephen Jennings
On every browser I've tried (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Omniweb), when I go to a web page containing somewhat less-common characters, I can't see the glyphs. For example, on the Wikipedia page for the Bengali Language, the very first line contains a string of squares; on Windows, I can see the Bengali writing. On Windows, as long as I have the Arial Unicode MS font installed, these characters fall back to that font and display properly. Mac OS X doesn't seem to ship with a font containing these Unicode characters (it has Arial Unicode MS, but it must be a subset of the Windows version because Bengali doesn't display in that font). I checked on my Snow Leopard DVD and I installed "Additional Fonts" from the Optional Installs package, but I'm still missing many languages. Is there any good, free font that contains a large collection of languages? I know creating fonts is difficult and time-consuming, but it seems like including at least one font like this with operating systems should be standard by now.

  • Why do all my browsers default to the "Impact" font?

    - by J Alain Ferry
I've been struggling with a font issue which I hope you can help resolve. A few weeks ago I started seeing "Impact" as the default font on lots of webpages, rendering much of the content illegible. I think this issue began after I installed other fonts, but I'm not sure. The issue occurs on Chrome, IE and Firefox which suggests it is a Windows issue. By the time I tried to revert the changes via System Restore, it was too late. I tried to reset the default font but Windows does not seem to respond to that. When I click "Restore to default font settings" the button greys out but nothing else happens. No dialog box and no change in the issue. I've tried deleting the fonts in my font folder and re-installing them (from backup) but that did not work either. I inititially documented the issue here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/1020796-help-weird-font-all-browsers.html Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Gentoo+urxvt+terminus: How do I change font version?

    - by gaidal
In my Debian installation I can type extended ASCII characters such as åäö by default using the terminus font, however in Gentoo I can't get it to work so far. Nothing happens when I hit those keys, like in this thread: Missing glyphs in Terminus font, how to setup a fallback font ? But in this case I know terminus supports those characters in at least some of its versions, since it's works in Debian. So what I want is to find out how to see and choose which of the many different terminus font files is being used. I set the font in the same way on both Debian and Gentoo, using URxvt*font: xft:terminus:size=xx in .Xdefaults. Both systems use en_US.UTF-8 as default locale.

  • Inline-SVG not rendering when generated by JS

    I want to implement some visual statistics into a jQuery mobile page. If I embed the folowing snippet it will show me the same results as if I would embed it from a separate *.svg-file. <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" height="115" width="100%"> <rect x="0%" y="0" fill="#8cc63f" width="19.2%" height="100" /> <text x="10%" y="115" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">A</text> <text x="10%" y="15" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">100</text> <rect x="20.2%" y="50" fill="#8cc63f" width="19.2%" height="50" /> <text x="30.2%" y="115" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">B</text> <text x="30.2%" y="65" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">50</text> <rect x="40.4%" y="90" fill="#8cc63f" width="19.2%" height="10" /> <text x="50.4%" y="115" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">C</text> <text x="50.4%" y="85" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">10</text> <rect x="60.6%" y="78" fill="#8cc63f" width="19.2%" height="22" /> <text x="70.6%" y="115" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">D</text> <text x="70.6%" y="73" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">22</text> <rect x="80.8%" y="40" fill="#8cc63f" width="19.2%" height="60" /> <text x="90.8%" y="115" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">E</text> <text x="90.8%" y="55" font-family="helvetica, sans-serif" font-size="10" style="text-anchor:middle;">60</text> Now because these statistics obviously change for each site I generate code like the one above using JavaScript. The HTML-Source-Code looks the same but the SVG will not be showing. Instead it looks like this: A 100 B 50 C 10 D 22 E60 so really just a line of text Am I missing something? Thank you for your help!

  • mysql_query arguments in PHP

    - by Chris Wilson
I'm currently building my first database in MySQL with an interface written in PHP and am using the 'learn-by-doing' approach. The figure below illustrates my database. Table names are at the top, and the attribute names are as they appear in the real database. I am attempting to query the values of each of these attributes using the code seen below the table. I think there is something wrong with my mysql_query() function since I am able to observe the expected behaviour when my form is successfully submitted, but no search results are returned. Can anyone see where I'm going wrong here? Update 1: I've updated the question with my enter script, minus the database login credentials. <html> <head> <title>Search</title> </head> <body> <h1>Search</h1> <!--Search form - get user input from this--> <form name = "search" action = "<?=$PHP_SELF?>" method = "get"> Search for <input type = "text" name = "find" /> in <select name = "field"> <option value = "Title">Title</option> <option value = "Description">Description</option> <option value = "City">Location</option> <option value = "Company_name">Employer</option> </select> <input type = "submit" name = "search" value = "Search" /> </form> <form name = "clearsearch" action = "Search.php"> <input type = "submit" value = "Reset search" /> </form> <?php if (isset($_GET["search"])) // Check if form has been submitted correctly { // Check for a search query if($_GET["find"] == "") { echo "<p>You did not enter a search query. The BoF developed a MySQL based versatile system for making payments and settlement simulations, used for analyzing liquidity needs, risk issues, changes in authority policies & regulations, and more. Running on Windows, the application has been widely adopted by central bank economists worldwide.   The Simulator is managing large data sets and thus needed a robust database as its foundation. Key requirements to select the database included:   ·       Low Costs ·       Performance & Scalability ·       Ease of Use   You can read more about why the Bank of Finland selected MySQL to power its economic simulator in our case study, posted here.   For more information about MySQL on Windows, check out our MySQL on Windows Resource Center, and, join today's Oracle TechCast Live: "MySQL 5.5 Does Windows" with Mike Frank at 10.00 am PT!

  • Letters seem to be rendered wrongly in Firefox

    - by BloodPhilia
So, when I'm browsing in firefox, some letters look grainy or glowing, does anyone know what might be causing this? It doesn't show on all website, only some. It almost looks like Firefox is trying to render different font colours on top of eachother and blends them in the process somehow. Using Firefox 3.6.13 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits and the problems also arrise when running Firefox in safe mode. http://facelift.mawhorter.net/ (top menu) IE 8: FF 3: https://student.ru.nl/portal/dt (center notification) IE 8: FF 3:

  • trying to validate user input in php

    - by user225269
    I'm trying to validate user input in php. This code will check if the values are null or not. If it is null, this will require the user to input the values that are null. When all the text boxes in the html form that came before this. This code will show the submit button, and that submit button will save the inputted data into the mysql database. But the problem is that the value that is saved is zero zero and zero, what might be the cause of this? <html> <head> <title>Admission Information Sheet</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; Western (ISO-8859-1)"> <meta name="author" content=" "> <title> <style> input { font-size: 16px;} </style> <?php include('header.php'); ?> <div id="main_content"> </div> <?php include('footer.php'); ?> <table border="1" width="900" border="0" align="left" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1" bgcolor="#CCCCCC"> <tr> <form name="form1.1" method="POST" action="aisaction.php"> <?php $NURSE = $_POST[nurse]; $TELNUM = $_POST[telnum]; $HOSPNUM = $_POST[hnum]; $ROOMNUM = $_POST[rnum]; $LASTNAME = $_POST[lname]; $FIRSTNAME = $_POST[fname]; $MIDNAME = $_POST[mname]; $AD = $_POST[ad]; $ADATE = $_POST[adate]; $ADTIME = $_POST[adtime]; $CSTAT = $_POST[cs]; $AGE = $_POST[age]; $BDAY = $_POST[bday]; $SEX = $_POST[sex]; ?> <td> <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <tr> <td colspan="12" style="background:#9ACD32; color:white; border:white 1px solid; text-align: center"><strong><font size="3">ADMISSION INFORMATION SHEET</strong></td> </tr> <tr> </td><br> <td width="54"><font size="3">Hospital #</td> <td width="3">:</td> <td width="168"><input type="display" name="hnum" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$HOSPNUM";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($HOSPNUM)) print "* Hospital Number required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td width="41"><font size="3">Room #</td> <td width="3">:</td> <td width="168"><input type="display" name="rnum" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$ROOMNUM";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($ROOMNUM)) print "* Room Number required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td width="67"><font size="3">Admission Date</td> <td width="3">:</td> <td width="168"><input type="display" name="adate" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$ADATE";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($ADATE)) print "* Admission Date required!<br>"; ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><font size="3">Last Name</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="lname" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$LASTNAME";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($LASTNAME)) print "* Last Name required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td><font size="3">First Name</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="fname" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$FIRSTNAME";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($FIRSTNAME)) print "* First Name required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td><font size="3">Middle Name</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="mname" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$MIDNAME";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($MIDNAME)) print "* Middle Name required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td><font size="3">Admit time</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="mname" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$ADTIME";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($ADTIME)) print "* Adtime required!<br>"; ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><font size="3">Civil Status</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="cs" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$CSTAT";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($CSTAT)) print "* Civil Status required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td><font size="3">Age</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="age" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$AGE";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($AGE)) print "* Age required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td><font size="3">Birthday</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="bday" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$BDAY";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($BDAY)) print "* Birthday required!<br>"; ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><font size="3">Address</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="address" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$AD";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($AD)) print "* Address required!<br>"; ?> </td> <td><font size="3">Telephone #</td> <td>:</td> <td><input type="display" name="telnum" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$TELNUM";?>"></td> <td width="23"><font size="3">Sex</td> <td width="3">:</td> <td width="174"><input type="display" name="sex" disabled="true" value= "<?php print "$SEX";?>"><br> <font color="red"> <?php if(empty($SEX)) print "* Gender required!<br>"; ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><font size="3">Pls. • How to change font/number/bullet format for the whole list

    - by Nam Gi VU
Hi, Let's look at a sample word 2010 file here. In this file you can see that the first group of text has their indent modified. The 2nd, 3rd group keep their default format. I want to apply the changed I've made in the group 1st so group 2nd and 3rd and for the new group I'm going to add instead of recieving the default indent. How can I do that? ps. Currently what I have to do is quite boring: Copy group 1 and paste to create new group to get the formatted, then remove the old text, adding new text :(
