  • How to handle checkboxes in ASP.NET MVC forms?

    This seems a bit bizarre to me, but as far as I can tell, this is how you do it. I have a collection of objects, and I want users to select one or more of them. This says to me "form with checkboxes." My objects don't have any concept of "selected" (they're rudimentary POCO's formed by deserializing a wcf call). So, I do the following: public class SampleObject{ public Guid Id {get;set;} public string Name {get;set;} } In the view: <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> <%foreach (var o in ViewData.Model) {%> <%=Html.CheckBox(o.Id)%>&nbsp;<%= o.Name %> <%}%> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> <%}%> And, in the controller, this is the only way I can see to figure out what objects the user checked: public ActionResult ThisLooksWeird(FormCollection result) { var winnars = from x in result.AllKeys where result[x] != "false" select x; // yadda } Its freaky in the first place, and secondly, for those items the user checked, the FormCollection lists its value as "true false" rather than just true. Obviously, I'm missing something. I think this is built with the idea in mind that the objects in the collection that are acted upon within the html form are updated using UpdateModel() or through a ModelBinder. But my objects aren't set up for this; does that mean that this is the only way? Is there another way to do it?

  • Recognition source of event in PyQT

    Hi, I`m starting with PyQt4 and right now I have a problem with events. I have one main class let say MainWindow. MainWindow has a list of buttons of type ButtonX (inherence form QPushButton). I would like to achieve one of 2 solutions (depends which is easier). 1) After click one of the button from the list I would like to run a one method of MainWindow. I would like to be able to read a source of event there (recognize clicked button) 2) Second solution is to run a method defined in ButtonX class. What I tried is: QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0).buttonMethod()) QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SLOT("incrementValue()")) and even this line occure suspend Python interpreter QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SLOT("incrementValue"))

    I recently watched a youtube video where a guy got a camera to recognize when a rubik's cube was held up to it, and it captured the 9 square color combination before snapping a picture of the cube and displaying the 3x3 grid on the screen of his computer. What kind of programming is this and where would I start reading to get into this sort of thing? specifically, controlling a camera, and getting it to pick out certain parts of an image and translate that data.

    Hi all. I have a simple problem: I want to construct a regex that matches a form in HTML, but only if the form has any input tags. Example: The following should be matched (ignoring attributes): .. <form> .. <input/> .. </form> .. But the following should not (ignoring attributes): .. <form> .. </form> .. I have tried everything from look-arounds to capture groups but it quickly gets complicated. I want to believe there is a simple regex to capture the problem. Please note that it is important that the regex pairs the opening and closing tags according to the HTML code which means the following does not work: <form>.+<input/>.+</form> because it matches wrongly like this: .. <form> <--- This is wrongly matched as the opening tag .. </form> <form> <-- This is the correct opening tag of the correct form .. <input/> .. </form> <--- This is matched as the closing tag ..

The general idea is that we have 3 levels of security: a simple user - that can only access basic data that is in a data repository a manager - that can open up data repositories a superuser - that can open up repository factories. each repository contains various data types(text, images, etc etc). We are looking for authentication methods that will allow us: 1. Scalability. 2. Customization. 3. To create permissions that will effect the GUI + deny access to certain pages. 4. To create predefined roles - that will allow for easy setup of new users. 5. To create custom roles for specific users - allowing them permission sets that are different from the predefined roles.     Hi Guys, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction here. With a picture of a die (from above) I want to recognize which side is up. I understand the basics in play here, but I'm having trouble grasping the power of OpenCV. I imagine I want a picture of each side of the die.     As a side-project I'm trying to create an app that scans license plates from passing cars from my living-room window. I have hooked up a high resolution camera to my system to capture (moving) images into my c# app. Now all I need is a way to interpret these images into something readable. I´m thinking about some sort of OCR-solution that is fast/accurate enough for moving images. Hope you can give me some direction!

    Im trying to make part of my form/questionnaire appears when hover on image and stay active untill hover another image next to it. and repeat it on 7 images. Of course I need the cheched checkboxes to stay after they'll be hidden so you can come back to them by hover the image and for ex. correct answers and so on..   • Delphi : What is the best way for passing data between forms?

    It may seem a little newbie, but I really have got problem with it. I have a form (not the main one)for getting many different data form the user and I want to pass it to a manager class for creating an object with these. The problem is that I can't have this class to use the other unit (getting circle uses) and also it doesn't have access to the manager class instance (which is in main form). So, what shall I do? I've already considered using public variable but I have a bad feeling about it (regarding OOD patterns). Any ideas? thanks in advance.

  • How to change word recognition in vim spell?

    I like that vim 7.0 supports spell checking via :set spell, and I like that it by default only checks comments and text strings in my C code. But I wanted to find a way to change the behavior so that vim will know that when I write words containing underscores, I don't want that word spell checked. The problem is that I often will refer to variable or function names in my comments, and so right now vim thinks that each piece of text that isn't a complete correct word is a spelling error. Eg. /* The variable proj_abc_ptr is used in function do_func_stuff' */ Most of the time, the pieces seperated by underscores are complete words, but other times they are abbreviations that I would prefer not to add to a word list. Is there any global way to tell vim to include _'s as part of the word when spell checking?

  • Posting from ASP.NET WebForms page to another URL

    Few days ago I had a case when I needed to make FORM POST from my ASP.NET WebForms page to an external site URL. More specifically, I was working on implementing Simple Payment System (like Amazon, PayPal, MoneyBookers). The operator asks to make FORM POST request to a given URL in their website, sending parameters together with the post which are computed on my application level (access keys, secret keys, signature, return-URL… etc). So, since we are not allowed nesting another form inside the <form runat=”server”> … </form>, which is required because other controls in my ASPX code work on server-side, I thought to inject the HTML and create FORM with method=”POST”. After making some proof of concept and testing some scenarios, I’ve concluded that I can do this very fast in two ways: Using jQuery to create form on fly with the needed parameters and make submit() Using HttpContext.Current.Response.Write to write the form on server-side (code-behind) and embed JavaScript code that will do the post Both ways seemed fine. 1. Using jQuery to create FORM html code and Submit it. Let’s say we have ‘PAY NOW’ button in our ASPX code: <asp:Button ID="btnPayNow" runat="server" Text="Pay Now" /> Now, if we want to make this button submit a FORM using POST method to another website, the jQuery way should be as follows: <script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.5.1.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript">     $(function () {         $("#btnPayNow").click(function (event) {             event.preventDefault();             //construct htmlForm string             var htmlForm = "<form id='myform' method='POST' action='http://www.microsoft.com'>" +                 "<input type='hidden' id='name' value='hajan' />" +             "</form>";             //Submit the form             $(htmlForm).appendTo("body").submit();         });     }); </script> Yes, as you see, the code fires on btnPayNow click. Using HttpContext.Current.Response.Write to write the form on server-side (code-behind) and embed JavaScript code that will do the post The C# code behind should be something like this: public void btnPayNow_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {     string Url = "http://www.microsoft.com";     string formId = "myForm1";     StringBuilder htmlForm = new StringBuilder();     htmlForm.AppendLine("<html>");     htmlForm.AppendLine(String.Format("<body onload='document.forms[\"{0}\"].submit()'>",formId));     htmlForm.AppendLine(String.Format("<form id='{0}' method='POST' action='{1}'>", formId, Url));     htmlForm.AppendLine("<input type='hidden' id='name' value='hajan' />");     htmlForm.AppendLine("</form>");     htmlForm.AppendLine("</body>");     htmlForm.AppendLine("</html>");     HttpContext.Current.Response.Clear();     HttpContext.Current.Response.Write(htmlForm.ToString());     HttpContext.Current.Response.End();             } So, with this code we create htmlForm string using StringBuilder class and then just write the html to the page using HttpContext.Current.Response.Write. The interesting part here is that we submit the form using JavaScript code: document.forms["myForm1"].submit() This code runs on body load event, which means once the body is loaded the form is automatically submitted. Note: In order to test both solutions, create two applications on your web server and post the form from first to the second website, then get the values in the second website using Request.Form[“input-field-id”] I hope this was useful post for you. Yes No Google Forms and SurveyMonkey don't seem to allow things like the above. For question one I could ask, "What country are you from?" with a textbox as an answer section and work around it. But how do I go about creating questions five and six? I am not able to figure out how to do it except for having one more question that says "If your answer to the previous question was No, then blah blah (else skip this question)". Any suggestions, apart from creating my own custom website with JavaScript and a backend database?

  • How to make browser offer "remember password"

    What properties login form needs to have to trigger "remember password" for all (or most) browsers? Background: For years I have been using Opera, and the rule has been that almost anything that looks like login form triggers this feature. Now I'm exploring other browsers, and surprisingly find that one of login forms I visit most often, Roundcube login page, does not trigger this feature neither in Chromium nor Firefox (tried various versions and page setups of RC). Since it's on my VPS, I could patch it up and eventually even send that to RC development team, but I have the unnerving feeling that this must have been solved over and over, and it's just me being blind or something. So again: is there any consensus between browser developer as to when this featue should be triggered? Is there a best practice for webmasters to tell the browser "this is the login page"? Or are all browsers doing their own heuristics?

    Hi I'm trying to learn how to load a .obj file using OpenTK in windows Forms. I have seen a lot of examples out there, but I do see almost everyone uses List, and Point[]. Code example show these highlighted like there IDE know what these are; for example List<Tri> tris = new List<Tri>(); but mine just returns "The type or namespace name 'Tri' could not be found" is there an include I need to add or a using I am missing.     I'm using hidden forms, to collects some statistics. Will it have any penalty from search engines ? Update 1: I'm collecting some statistics, based on user interaction with my website. For example, POST requests will be sent to server, when: user stops a playing video user has watched a video till it's end etc. Using form_remote_for in Rails, i'm just rendering the form and keep it invisible. The reason on doing that - is to utilize authencity tokens, and just have less to code. Via JavaScript i'm only filling some hidden fields up and initiating form submission.
