  • Automatic hyperlink in Excel

    Hi All, Is it possible to hyperlink a url in excel automatically. I mean when the cell starts with something like http or www can I hyperlink that. Currently, I have to hit enter in the cell value in the formula bar to make the link as clickable. Also if I change the value in the cell, the link doesnt get refreshed until I hit enter. Is there a way in excel where it will automatically detect and apply a hyperlink.

  • Results copied from SSMS splitting across columns when pasted into Excel

    SSMS 2008 - Excel 2003 This isn't happening all the time, but sometimes when I 'copy with headers' from sql server management studio, the results in Excel look as though I've used the 'text to columns' wizard with 'spaces' and 'brackets' as delimiters, meaning that the results become raggedly distributed across columns making them useless I've looked in the 'grid output' query options but can't see anything which may be causing the issue (not sure if this should be on superuser?)

  • Why can't I "tear" a maximized Excel 2007 window in Windows 7

    In Windows 7, in most applications, when an application is maximized...I can "tear" the window (grab the title bar and drag) from it's maximized size and off the top of the screen and then I can drag it to wherever...but when Excel is maximized I do not have that functionality...Is there some trick to adding this functionality for Excel 2007...I can do it with Word 2007 so it doesn't appear to be Office itself. The machine is a Dell Latitude D820 with the Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M video card...running the latest video drivers...

    So I have a table in MS Word which has two columns. In the second column the text is spread on multiple lines, ie I have pressed 'Enter' to achieve this. When I paste into Excel, it converts these separate lines into separate cells. What I want it to do is to keep the lines in the same cell, just on different lines, ie what would happen if I were to press Alt+Enter in a cell in excel. How would I go about this?

    I have a really nice Amortization Schedule built in Excel using the steps from this page: http://www.wikihow.com/Prepare-Amortization-Schedule-in-Excel It works really nicely, but I am planning to make some large payments and I would love to calculate how much interest I will save, over the life of the loan, for making these larger payment. E.g., if I pay $10k for one payment I will save $4000 in interest over the life of the loan, etc. Is there a way to calculate this?

  • Importing multiline cells from csv file into excel

    I have a csv file (comma delimited and quoted). When csv file is opened directly from explorer excel correctly interprets the cells that are mutliline, but it messes up the character encoding (utf-8). Therefore I have to use import function (Data/Get External Data/From Text). However, when I use import text function in excel (where I can set file encoding explicitly) it interprets the newline as start of the new row instead of putting multiline text into a single cell and breaks the file layout. Can I somehow overcome the situation by either forcing the explorer open command to use 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) encoding forcing the Text Import Wizard to ignore quoted line breaks as record delimiters

    I have the following code from a legacy app which currently reads from an excel 2003 spreadsheet on a server, but I need this to run from my machine which uses excel 2007. When I debug on my machine ADO does not seem to be reading the spreadsheet. I have checked all file paths etc. and location of spreadsheet that is all fine. I've heard that you cannot use the jet db engine for excel 2007 anymore? Can someone confirm this? What do I need to do to get this to work? If I want to use the original standard library module, is there any way to force Python to import from the standard library rather than from the PYTHONPATH directory, short of renaming the custom module and changing every reference to point to the new name?

    In a module residing inside a package, i have the need to use a function defined within the __init__.py of that package. how can i import the package within the module that resides within the package, so i can use that function? Importing __init__ inside the module will not import the package, but instead a module named __init__, leading to two copies of things with different names... Is there a pythonic way to do this?

    I have an ADO.NET Managed Data Provider that is registered in machine.config in DbProviderFactory - It is available for use from, say, Analysis Services, so I know it is correctly registered. However, I need to be able to query the managed provider from Excel, but the managed provider doesn't appear as a choice from Data Link Properties | All Ole Db Providers.
