I am not able to reproduce the error on my machine but on production it is coming a lot of times. We do have stored procedures that run for a long time before they return results (around 15 seconds). does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I dont think raising the # of connections on the application server will fix this issue buecause if connections were running out then we'd see "Error on allocating connections"

This year, we decided to move the Java booth to the App Planet and really engage with the increasing number of developers that are attending the event. Our booth featured 10 demos and a series of nearly 25 workshops featuring a variety of topics ranging from information about Java Verified, to the use of web technologies with Java ME, to sessions hosted by Operators such as Orange and Telefonica (see image to the left).One of the more popular topics in our booth was the use of Java in the Smart Grid. • Working with libpath with java reflection.

  I'm dynamically loading a class and calling a method on it. This class does JNI. When I call the class, java attempts to load the library. This causes an error because the library is not on the libpath. I'm calling from instead a jar so I can't easily change the libpath (especially since the library is not in the same directory or a sub directory of the jar). I do know the path of the library, but how can I load it before I load the class. I also tried to reinstall the java binaries using "apt-get" but I didn't succeed reinstalling it. I would like to post the "apt-get" errors, but unfortunately I don't know how to print out the error messages in English and not in German. My system is a Ubuntu 8.04 ROOT server.

• Difference between jruby AOT classes with --java flag and without

  When I compile a ruby file to a java class using jrubyc, I get different output when compiling with just jrubyc and with jrubyc --java (to generate the java file) and just javac. Why? Example: First Method: $ jrubyc --java myscript.rb $ javac -cp .:./jruby-complete.jar myscript.java Second Method: $ jrubyc myscript.rb I'd expect the generated classes to be exactly the same, but they're not. • ca-certificates-java fails when trying to install openjdk-6-jre

  I use a VPS with Ubuntu Server 10.10 x64. I want to use Java and run the command sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre but it fails because the installation encounted errors while processing ca-certificates-java. I have tried to install the failed package with: sudo apt-get install ca-certificates-java How can I solve this? I have run sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade but I get the same errors after that. I have also installed Ubuntu Server x64 on a VirtualBox, but the two Ubuntu Server 10.10 has different kernel versions (2.6.35 on VirtualBox and 2.6.18 on my VPS). And on VirtualBox I can install Jetty without any problems. The VPS is a fresh install of Ubuntu Server 10.10 x64, the first command I was running was sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre. when running java -version: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine. My VPS had 128MB of Memory, I changed to 256MB but got the same problem. Then I changed to 512MB and got the same problem. I found a related post on a forum: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) And I tried: sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get --reinstall install openjdk-6-jre sudo dpkg --configure -a But I got the same problem, even when I'm using 512MB of Memory. Any suggestions?

• Java doesn't show up in firefox plugins

  I've just installed the newest java, because firefox blocks the old version. I used the tutorial from http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/index.php/Java_Install Because I had some trouble once, I knew that there are multiple library folders, so I linked into all mozilla plugin folders that there are. /root/.mozilla/plugins /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/ /usr/lib/firefox-addons /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins java -version returns java version "1.7.0_07" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_07-b10) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.3-b01, mixed mode) But when I go to firefox plugins, it's not listed. What do I need to do, so that firefox recognizes java?

• Looking Back at PASS Summit 2013 - Location

  Now that it has been a few weeks since the Summit, I wanted to look back at the location "experiment". Convention Center - It seemed to work well for the conference. There were quite a few areas in the area where you could sit down and get some work down or have a discussion. For the larger welcome reception the first night, I really liked the different areas.   Since the MVP Summit was this past week, I decided to head out to the West Coast a little earlier and attended SQLSat#65. I did not submit to speak at the conference, but I did help out some by introducing speakers in one of the rooms and a few other places where I could.   It is almost time to cast your vote in this year's PASS BoD Elections. Things have changed considerably since the first PASS BoD election that I participated in. That was in 2001. I hadn't even been to a Summit or even a chpater meeting yet. I had registered for the PASS Summit 2001 (which was postponed to Jan 2002 btw). • How to handle gender and sexual orientation on a form with select boxes more inclusively?

  The existing question and the answers for it are not satisfying when one wants to be more inclusive. Gender as Male, Female or No Answer works for some sites, but not others. Taking the view that Gender is not the same as Sex (assigned at birth based on bodily characteristics). Would it be more inclusive to include these two options: Transgender Male, Transgender Female? So instead would more inclusive options be the following? Gender Identity Male Female Transgender Male Transgender Female No Answer Sexual Orientation Straight Lesbian Gay Bisexual Asexual No Answer Gender Expression could also be included, but I think most people would find that too confusing (defined on GLAAD's website linked below) I'm going off what I've read on GLAAD's Transgender Glossary of Terms.
