• Creating a CLR UDF with variable number of parameters

  Hi I wanted a function to find the greatest of a list of String values passed in. I want to invoke it as Select greatest('Abcd','Efgh','Zxy','EAD') from sql server. It should return Zxy. The number of parameters is variable.Incidentally it is very similar to oracle GREATEST function. So I wrote a very simple CLR function (Vs2008) and tried to deploy it. See below public partial class UserDefinedFunctions { [Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlFunction] public static SqlString Greatest(params SqlString[] p) { SqlString max=p[0]; foreach (string s in p) max = s.CompareTo(max) > 0 ? s : max; return max; } }; But when I try to compile or deploy it I get the following error Cannot find data type SqlString[]. Is it possible to satisfy my requirement using SQL CLR ?

• Not all parameters get sent in jquery ajax call

  I have a strange error where my jquery ajax request doesn't submit all the parameters. $.ajax({ url: "/ajax/doAssignTask", type: 'GET', contentType: "application/json", data: { "just_a_task": just_a_task, "fb_post_date": fb_post_date, "task_fb_postId": task_fb_postId, "sedia_task_guid": sedia_task_guid, "itemGuid": itemGuid, "itemType": itemType, "taskName": taskName, "assignedToUserGuid": assignedToUserGuid, "taskDescription": taskDescription }, success: function(data, status) { //success code }, error: function(xhr, desc, err) { //error code } }); But using firebug (and debugging) I can see that only these variables are posted: assignedToUserGuid itemGuid itemType just_a_task taskDescription taskName It's missing fb_post_date, task_fb_postId, and sedia_task_guid I have no idea what would cause it to post only some items and not others? Anyone know? Data is sent to asp.net controller that returns jsonresult (hence the contentType) Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

• Using one LINQ statement with different parameters

  I have a pretty complex linq statement I need to access for different methods. Each of these methods may need to see the resulting data with different parameters. For one method it may be a project code, for another it may be language. The statement is pretty much the same it's just the where part which changes. I have not been able to figure out how to use different where statements without duplicating the entire linq statement, and that just isn't dry enough for me. For example (greatly simplified): var r = from c in customer where c.name == "some name" // or it may be var r = from c in customer where c.customerId == 8 Is there a way to have both of these in the same statement so I can use one or the other based on what I am doing? I tried an if statement to use one of the where statements or the other, and that didn't go over very well.

  I have a rewrite that nginx calls like so: location ~* (css)$ { rewrite ^(.*),(.*)$ /min/index.php?f=$1,/min/$2 last; } And it's used on pages like this: http://domain.com/min/framework.css,dropdown.css Works all fine and dandy, but it's not scalable. Adding another element to the URL means I have to directly edit the nginx config. Ideally, I'd like to have nginx rewrite according to how many comma-delimited parameters are passed through the URL, rather than setting a fixed amount in the config. Is this possible?

I need a way to provide a code-block which is executed on-demand/lazy/by-name inside an object and this code-block must be able to access the class-methods as if the code-block were part of the class. • HTTP Digest Authentication Fails With URL Parameters (CakePHP)

  I have a RESTful API set up and working with CakePHP using mapResources() and parseExtensions(). Authentication is handled by CakePHP's security component using HTTP Digest Authentication. Everything works fine, unless I add parameters to the url, in the form: http://example.com/locations.xml?distance=4 Which causes the authentication to always fail. Any ideas? Edit: This seems to be an issue with the regex in parseDigestAuthData(). There's a semi-fix here: http://old.nabble.com/paginator-conflicts-with-Security-%3ErequireLogin---td16301573.html which now allows me to use the format: http://example.com/locations/index/distance:4/.xml But that's not RESTful and doesn't look all that pretty. Still, getting closer!

  I need to create a report in Crystal 2008 and I've haven't developed a report using Crystal in many years. When the user runs the report, I want them to be able to enter a start date and end date. I assume I can do this by using parameters. My question is this. Can I do this with a single parameter value or will it require two parameter values? Ideally what I would like to do is to allow the user to enter a start and end date in one parameter/prompt combination. Is this possible? Thanks - Randy

I'm need to write an stored procedure for SQL Server 2008 for performing some huge select query and I need filter it results with specifying filtering type via procedure's parameters (parameterize where clause).   I thought that compiled queries would perform the same query translation as DataContext. Yet I'm getting a run-time error when I try to use a query with a .Contains method call.   I use $.(ajax) function extensively in my app to call ASP.net web services. I would like to write a wrapper in order to centralize all the ajax calls.   Hey Everyone, This maybe a very mundane question, but this is the first jQuery plugin that I write and I'm a bit fuzzy on understanding the scope rules in Javascript. I'm trying to write an simple jQuery plugin that wraps around the Stack Overflow API. I'm starting off by trying to work with the Flair API. I wanted to make the plugin as configurable as possible so that you can easily pass it the domain and user id, and generate multiple Flairs. var superUser = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"superuser.com", id: 30162, parentId:'#su-flair'}); var stackOverflow = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"stackoverflow.com", id: 55954, parentId:'#so-flair'}); The problem is, when it makes the second call, its somehow using the correct domain and id parameters, but the parentId field that it's using in the callback function to create the html, is using the first parameter.   I want to call a method with certain parameters once an animation is done. The flow is something like this: -(void) myMethod:(int)val { [self performAnimation]; [self doSomethingElse:val]; // This should be done after animation completion } I presume the 'doSomethingElse' method needs to be called from the method defined in 'setAnimationDidStopSelector' - or is there a way to have the animation block until done? What is the best way to let the method called on 'setAnimationDidStopSelector' know about the method it needs to call and its parameter? Can this be done with selectors? Or is the only way of doing this by storing the methods and its params in class temp variables and access them when needed?

What's the best way to simplify this? My Person model has all the validations it needs. Is there a way (assuming the request has multi-model parameters) that I can just do: @person = People.new(params[:person]) and then the initializer can take care of the rest?

(for parameters) on all the dates, it throws an error. "Invalid Parameter Number" :D How can i make this work, within excel? Im using SQL Server and Microsoft Query Connection Data.

  I'm developing report in RS that show top N customers based on some criteria. It also allows to select number of customers and period of time. Is it possible to do it by using report model? Thing that it seems to be difficult is how to pass parameters determined by user. Another thing that in my oppinion is very disappointing is that i cannot use SQL query as dataset query, because it uses odd and elaborate XML. Although report model items seem to map its fields to query or table fields. I m concerning using report models because i need to provide uniform data model (the same tables and fields) for more or less different database schemas. It would be very nice if somebody would explain what can be done with report models and what can not.

  lHi, I'm currently writing a WCF service. One of those methods get's a request object and returns a response object. In the request there are a couple of value-type members. Is there a way to define members are mandatory in the declarative way? I'm in an early stage of development and I don't want to start with versioning now. In addition I don't want to have method sig with 25 parameters, therefore I created the request object. The problem I have is that due to the value-types, I can never be sure if the consumer of the service intended to have the default value in there, or it was just by lazyness. On consumer side you don't easily detect that you probably missed that property. So I would like to have something that forces the caller of the service to provide an value, and if not he ideally get's a compile-time error. any ideas? tia, Martin

The following WSDL for the parameters is being generated: <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="url" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="list" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="query" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="noOfItems" type="s:int" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="titleField" type="s:string" /> Why does the int parameter have minOccurs set to 1 instead of 0 and how do I change it? I've tried using [XmlElementAttribute(IsNullable=false)] in the parameter declaration without success.
