  • Network printing -- setting up and printing over network using Mac OS X

    I've connected a USB printer to a Mac OS X (10.4) machine -- this computer is connected to a network with a registered IP address -- and enabled sharing through the System Preferences setting (under "Shared" and "Print & Fax". Is this printer shared through the Bonjour or CUPS protocol (does it matter that I know)? How do I sent a print job to this computer (also from a 10.4 OS X machine)? It does not show up in the list of printers in the Default Network when I go to "add printer"; do I need to do anything else (on either machine)? Thanks much!

  • Jobs stuck in Print Queue on print server

    Hello, I have a Server 2003 machine acting as a print server for about 20 printers. There is 1 printer which we are having issues with and it has 104 documents in its queue. I have attempted the "Cancel All Documents" and tried to manually cancel individual documents without success. The print jobs state "Deleting - Sent to printer" under their status. It has been in this state for about 2 hours. I do not believe restarting the spool is an option without effecting the other printers and we have Hold printer for a specific non windows printing friendly application, in which I can not loose the jobs for. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks, Carl

  • Printing perforated business cards

    I have a Brother MFC 440CN printer with the paper loaded underneath it. The problem with my stack of perforated business cards is that I can't print double-sided. The printer pulls the paper out from under its paper tray below and rolls it through the top for printing. With perforated business cards, they paper breaks at the perforations. Is there a method to preventing the slicing? Also, my printer also has some trouble pulling up the paper in general but I don't seem to understand why other than that the perforations break before the paper is grabbed for printing.

  • Epson XP-600 will not print properly with all new ink recently installed

    I just installed brand new Epson 273 ink cartridges ($64 worth!) in my Epson XP-600 printer. One box had all the colors plus black, and one had the fatter black cartridge. I am not getting ANY black print on paper, although, when I lift the cartridges out, they show ink inside. Now the yellow is saying LOW though all cartridges are less than 2 weeks old. I only use this printer sparingly—not for business or work reasons. I am ready to scream, as the ink cost almost as much as the actual printer (which is barely 7 months old)! Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

  • HP Photosmart 7450 Prints Noise On Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

    I have received a working (in its last location) HP Photosmart 7450 printer. I connected it up to my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit workstation, and the driver was (apparently) installed. The problem is that whenever I try to print from it -- test page, text from notepad, picture, whatever -- it spins through a half dozen sheets of paper, some of which have fractions of text on them, but most of which are either blank or have line noise printed on them. Noise similar to what was printed out on ye olde laserjet printers when the postscript interpreter failed. HP's web site only has a "use the included driver in Windows 7, be happy" instruction. The driver has been removed and added several times. The printer was previously attached to a XP Home computer and worked correctly without incident. Does anyone have any ideas for troubleshooting before I drop this printer in the river?

  • ID Card printers and software

    My company of about 60 people currently uses a Magicard Pronto ID Card printer and the Magicard ID card software. The printer is would be OK (not great) if they released 64 bit drivers for it, but Magicard ID is without a doubt one of the worst pieces of software I have ever used, ever. It would be OK for occasional hiring, but my company is looking to add a lot of people rather quickly. Does anybody know of decent ID-card printing software, and possibly a replacement printer? I might just "accidentally" run over this one with my truck a few times.

  • Can't print graphic from Publisher to pre-printed document

    I have a client who was given a stack of 8.5x11 tri-fold (unfolded) brochures printed on standard printer paper that they need to add their bulk mail permit stamp to. They've created a Publisher document with the stamp. If they print the document to standard paper in the tray, it prints fine. When they load the brochures into the tray, the brochure feeds through the printer but the stamp doesn't print. The stamp document is also 8.5x11. The printer is a Canon MF4300-D44. I can remoted in, but obviously have no access to the hardware. Any ideas?

When I print from my Windows XP the margins are all ok, but when I print from my Windows 7 laptop the top margin is 2x larger for the same document, and as a result the bottom is cropped.     Hello everyone, I am having a ID10T error LOL,. First I am using window server 2003 r2 edition. I installed on a domian controller print managment. So this is where all 48 printers I have are installed. I just got a new printer. I gave it an IP for the machine and when I head into the server room i tried to add it to the server. I can print a test page, when I am logged on to the print server, but on my client computer when he goes to add a printer in window xp pro the printer isn't listed in add print for network. What did I do wrong?

    I have network IPP working on Ubuntu and Windows XP. On my Windows 7 instance, it refuses to acknowledge the remote server connection. Can anyone suggest how to configure this correctly? My install steps are: Add Printer Add a Local Printer Create a New Port and "Standard TCP/IP Port" Enter hostname http://host:631/printers/Printer_Name After that it says the printer is not detected, asks me to pick a driver, and finish up. Trying to use the device does not produce any output? If anyone has got this work, I would really appreciate a fix.

  • HP LaserJet 1020 doesn't print

    I've got a HP LaserJet 1020 printer connected to my 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate machine. I'm sharing this printer out. Got another 64-bit Windows 7 machine, with Home Premium. I installed the printer driver from HP for 64-bit on both machines. However, the strange thing is that if the Home Premium machine prints something, it never comes out unless I reboot the Ultimate machine. This is less than optimal. Any idea what's causing this and if there's anything I can do about it?

  • Handling null values and missing object properties in Silverlight 4

    Before Silverlight 4 to bind a data object to the UI and display a message associated with either a null value or if the binding path was wrong, you would need to write a Converter.  In Silverlight 4 we find the addition of the markup extensions TargetNullValue and FallbackValue that allows us to display a value when a null value is found in the bound to property and display a value when the property being bound to is not found. This post will show you how to use both markup extensions. Steps: 1. Create a new Silverlight 4 application 2.   • MacBook Pro with Time Capsule can not see Samsung CLX 3175FW wireless printer on Bonjour

    I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6 and another MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5. Neither see my Samsung printer when I click on Bonjour. Needless to say neither will print. I have a Time Capsule connected wirelessly to my MacBook Pros. I have tried reinstalling drivers for the printer but nothing seems to work. I tried this approach because when Apple replaced my Time Capsule and I went to print the way I had initially been running printing requests would get hung up. Any suggestions would be helpful?

  • How can I configure a Linksys EA4500 + usb printer for network printing (without connect cloud)

    The documentation and classic firmware (2.0.37) for Cisco's Linksys EA4500 is a bit sparse on setup details. It says I can connect a USB-printer, but then goes on to try to sell "Connect Cloud" remote management software. I don't want that. I just want to know how to set this up with the existing advanced firmware. Is it possible? AFAIK, to setup a IPP or LDP printer, there is usually some kind of queue configuration on the server (i.e. the ea4500 in this case), but I can't find it in the firmware. I also have been unable to find any existing protocols from win7 or mac osx. (windows network share, IPP/LDP etc.) I'm curious if I need to have the "Storage" accounts active and connect to my router either via the local IP or router name. There's a lot of unknowns here; it would help to know how this particular router actually works.

  • black and white pages not recognized by printer

    I have a document which has color on about 25% of its pages. When I print it in the copy shop, the printer's technically supposed to recognize the b/w pages. However, all pages are registered as colored, i.e. the pages are color-enabled pages which happen to not have any colors on them (but I'm paying for the color-enabled-ness). Regrettably, the staff have to charge me for color because the printer's leased and they have to pay for color pages, so showing them that there's no color doesn't help me. What are possible sources for b/w pages showing up like that?

  • Windows 7 Printing to a network printer

    We have a 2008 server as our print server. Clients that use windows xp with a logon script to map have no problems printing. When I test printing to a network printer on a windows 7 machine it works fine up to a few machines as soon As i get 12-15 workstations trying to print, when they log in they get the yellow exclamation mark and needs troubleshooting against the printer name. It is being deploy by group policy. I have tried to deploy it by group policy also by group policy preferences and by using a script and i get the same error whatever i try. Does anyone have any suggestions to try and troubleshoot? Once again Windows xp clients have no issues printing at all. It is only windows 7 clients. Thanks

    I need to convert to PDF a Word document containing embedded vector EPS images (by printing to PDF printer - I use Word 2003). Several years ago I tested some of commercial and free PDF printers and found none, with except to Acrobat Distiller, which embeds in the generated PDF file real PostScript content of the EPS image instead of the preview showed by Word. Has the situation changed from that time? Do you know any free or commercial PDF printer which handles embedded EPS correctly? Looking at the mprinter project on Kickstarter I started to wonder if there is an app somewhere in the internet already that will allow to prepare an automated daily printout based on some settings. things to be printed could include - weather forecast for my locations, todo`s scheduled for that day, a "quote of a day" or "word of the day", stats from google analytics for my site, and many more ... I would set a printout at 6:15 every work day so its on my printer when I am already up, having a coffee. anyone knows something that can be used for such purpose? While I know this can be done by combining the power of TeX, cron and a script language to manage the dynamic part of the PDF I believe this is a use case someone has already addressed.

    I have a Windows 2008 R2 server with Terminal server role installed. I'm seeing a problem with an ordinary user who is member of local printer operators group on the server. If the user opens a cmd window using ‘run as administrator’ they can run printmanager.msc without needing to enter their password again. In printmanager they can change the ownership of redirected (easy print) printers without problems. If, from the same cmd window, they use subinacl to try and change the onwership of the queue to themselves they get access denied: >subinacl.exe /printer "_#MyPrinter (2 redirected)" /setowner="MyDom\MyUsr" Elapsed Time: 00 00:00:00 Done: 1, Modified 0, Failed 1, Syntax errors 0 Last Done : _#MyPrinter (2 redirected) Last Failed: _#MyPrinter (2 redirected) - OpenPrinter Error : 5 Access denied so, same context, same action but one works and one doesn't. Any ideas for this odd behaviour? I'm using subinacl x86 on an x64 server as I can't find anything more up to date. I've tried with icacls and others but couldn't get them to do anything with printers.
