  • Swiping Images with Page Control in Iphone

    - by lakesh
    I am trying to make practice app where i can scroll images with page control. I am able to scroll images and able to include the page control. But the problem i face is i am not able to interlink the two. Meaning to say when I scroll the images, the page control is not affected and when i change the page control, the scrolling of the images is unaffected. I have referred to this: http://www.iosdevnotes.com/2011/03/uiscrollview-paging/ for the scrolling with page control. Viewcontroller.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface ViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate>{ UIScrollView *scrollView; UIPageControl *pageControl; BOOL pageControlBeingUsed; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIScrollView *scrollView; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIPageControl *pageControl; - (IBAction)changePage; @end Viewcontroller.m #import "ViewController.h" @interface ViewController () @end @implementation ViewController @synthesize scrollView,pageControl; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSArray *images = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:[UIImage imageNamed:@"1.jpeg"],[UIImage imageNamed:@"2.jpeg"],[UIImage imageNamed:@"3.jpeg" ], nil]; self.scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(self.scrollView.frame.size.width * images.count, self.scrollView.frame.size.height); for (int i = 0; i < images.count; i++) { CGRect frame; frame.origin.x = self.scrollView.frame.size.width * i; frame.origin.y = 0; frame.size = self.scrollView.frame.size; UIImageView* imgView = [[UIImageView alloc] init]; imgView.image = [images objectAtIndex:i]; imgView.frame = frame; [scrollView addSubview:imgView]; } } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Dispose of any resources that can be recreated. } - (void)viewDidUnload { // Release any retained subviews of the main view. // e.g. self.myOutlet = nil; self.scrollView = nil; } - (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)sender { // Update the page when more than 50% of the previous/next page is visible CGFloat pageWidth = self.scrollView.frame.size.width; int page = floor((self.scrollView.contentOffset.x - pageWidth / 2) / pageWidth) + 1; self.pageControl.currentPage = page; } - (IBAction)changePage{ // update the scroll view to the appropriate page CGRect frame; frame.origin.x = self.scrollView.frame.size.width * self.pageControl.currentPage; frame.origin.y = 0; frame.size = self.scrollView.frame.size; [self.scrollView scrollRectToVisible:frame animated:YES]; pageControlBeingUsed = YES; } - (void)scrollViewWillBeginDragging:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { pageControlBeingUsed = NO; } - (void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { pageControlBeingUsed = NO; } @end Need some guidance on this... Thanks..

  • UIIMageView, warning: check_safe_call: could not restore current frame

    - by lukya
Hi, I am changing the image in UIImageView based on accelerometer input. The images are stored in an array. The application runs fine for a while and then crashes. warning: check_safe_call: could not restore current frame I am not using "UIImage ImageNamed" method when populating the array. The total size of all images is around 12 Mb. But individual images are very light (<100 kb) and i am using only one image at a time from the array. Just in case there are any autoreleases, I have allocated a NSAutoreleasePool in view did load and am draining it in the didReceiveMemoryWarning method (which does get called 2, 3 times before the app crashes?). Following is the code that creates images array: //create autorelease pool as we are creating many autoreleased objects NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSMutableArray *finalarr = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:9]; NSLog(@"start loading"); for(int y = 0; y < 100; y+=10) { NSMutableArray *arr = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:10]; for(int x = 0; x < 10; x++) { NSString *imageName = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"0%d",y + x]; UIImage *img = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:imageName ofType:@"png"]]; [arr addObject:img]; [imageName release]; [img release]; } [finalarr addObject:arr]; [arr release]; } NSLog(@"done loading"); // Override point for customization after app launch viewController.imagesArray = finalarr; [finalarr release]; //retain the array of images [viewController.imagesArray retain]; //release the aurtorelease pool to free memory taken up by objects enqued for release [pool release]; As the app runs smoothly for a while, which means array creation is definitely not the problem. After this the following method is called from [accelerometer didAccelerate] -(BOOL)setImageForX:(int)x andY:(int)y { [self.imageView setImage:(UIImage*)[(NSArray*)[self.imagesArray objectAtIndex:y] objectAtIndex:x]]; return TRUE; } So the only code being executed is the "UIImageView setImage". But no objects are being created here. Please let me know if the code seems to have any leaks or i am doing something wrong. Thanks, Swapnil

  • Objective-C: properties not being saved or passed

    - by Gerald Yeo
Hi, i'm a newbie to iphone development. I'm doing a navigation-based app, and I'm having trouble passing values to a new view. @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController { NSString *imgurl; NSMutableArray *galleryArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *imgurl; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *galleryArray; - (void)showAll; @end #import "RootViewController.h" #import "ScrollView.h" #import "Model.h" #import "JSON/JSON.h" @implementation RootViewController @synthesize galleryArray, imgurl; - (void)viewDidLoad { UIBarButtonItem *showButton = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Show All", @"") style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(showAll)] autorelease]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = showButton; NSString *jsonString = [[Model sharedInstance] jsonFromURLString:@"http://www.ddbstaging.com/gerald/gallery.php"]; NSDictionary *resultDictionary = [jsonString JSONValue]; if (resultDictionary == nil) { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Webservice Down" message:@"The webservice you are accessing is currently down. Please try again later." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; } else { galleryArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; galleryArray = [resultDictionary valueForKey:@"gallery"]; imgurl = (NSString *)[galleryArray objectAtIndex:0]; NSLog(@" -> %@", galleryArray); NSLog(imgurl); } } - (void)showAll { NSLog(@" -> %@", galleryArray); NSLog(imgurl); ScrollView *controller = [[ScrollView alloc] initWithJSON:galleryArray]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; } The RootViewController startup and the json data loads up fine. I can see it from the first console trace. However, once I click on the Show All button, the app crashes. It doesn't even trace the galleryArray and imgurl properyly. Maybe additional pairs of eyes can spot my mistakes. Any help is greatly appreciated! • What is NSString in struct?

    - by 4thSpace
I've defined a struct and want to assign one of its values to a NSMutableDictionary. When I try, I get a EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Here is the code: //in .h file typedef struct { NSString *valueOne; NSString *valueTwo; } myStruct; myStruct aStruct; //in .m file - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; aStruct.valueOne = @"firstValue"; } //at some later time [myDictionary setValue:aStruct.valueOne forKey:@"key1"]; //dies here with EXC_BAD_ACCESS This is the output in debugger console: (gdb) p aStruct.valueOne $1 = (NSString *) 0xf41850 Is there a way to tell what the value of aStruct.valueOne is? Since it is an NSString, why does the dictionary have such a problem with it? ------------- EDIT ------------- This edit is based on some comments below. The problem appears to be in the struct memory allocation. I have no issues assigning the struct value to the dictionary in viewDidLoad, as mentioned in one of the comments. The problem is that later on, I run into an issue with the struct. Just before the error, I do: po aStruct.oneValue Program received signal EXC_BAD_ACCESS, Could not access memory. Reason: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at address: 0x00000000 0x9895cedb in objc_msgSend () The program being debugged was signaled while in a function called from GDB. GDB has restored the context to what it was before the call. To change this behavior use "set unwindonsignal off" Evaluation of the expression containing the function (_NSPrintForDebugger) will be abandoned. This occurs just before the EXC_BAD_ACCESS: NSDateFormatter *formatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [formatter setDateFormat:@"MM-dd-yy_HH-mm-ss-A"]; NSString *date = [formatter stringFromDate:[NSDate date]]; [formatter release]; aStruct.valueOne = date; So the memory issue is most likely in my releasing of formatter. The date var has no retain. Should I instead be doing NSString *date = [[formatter stringFromDate:[NSDate date]] retain]; Which does work but then I'm left with a memory leak.

  • Delphi - Frac function losing precision.

    - by PeteDaMeat
I have a TDateTime variable which is assigned a value at runtime of 40510.416667. When I extract the time to a TTime type variable using the Frac function, it sets it to 0.41666666666. Why has it changed the precision of the value and is there a workround to retain the precision from the original value ie. to set it to 0.416667.

  • Prevent PowerPoint from pausing when focus is lost

    - by great_llama
I've written an app that allows me to start multiple PowerPoint presentations, each on its own monitor (this particular config has 4 monitors). The problem I have now is that only the presentation that has focus has any animation. The other 3 pause until they receive focus via mouse click. Is there any way to keep this pause behavior from happening? (trick PowerPoint into thinking that all 4 retain focus, or anything else to accomplish 4 simultaneously animated presentations...)

  • Is it possible for a java.lang.Process to inherit the environement variables from another java.lang.

    - by Eric Leung
I am trying to use groovy to do shell scripting on unix, but I am not having any luck having one process retain the environment variables changed by another process. For example, def p1 = ["bash", "-c", "source /some/setEnv.sh"].execute() Now, I would like a second process, p2, to inherit the environment variables that was set in p1. How can I do this? I don't see anything in java.lang.Process or its groovy extension that would spit out the environment variables after the process has executed.

  • NSMutableArray can't be added to

    - by Dan Ray
I've had this sort of problem before, and it didn't get a satisfactory answer. I have a viewcontroller with a property called "counties" that is an NSMutableArray. I'm going to drill down a navigation screen to a view that is about selecting the counties for a geographical search. So the search page drills down to the "select counties" page. I pass NSMutableArray *counties to the second controller as I push the second one on the navigation stack. I actually set that second controller's "selectedCounties" property (also an NSMutableArray) with a pointer to my first controller's "counties", as you'll see below. When I go to addObject to that, though, I get this: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: mutating method sent to immutable object' Here's my code: in SearchViewController.h: @interface SearchViewController : UIViewController { .... NSMutableArray *counties; } .... @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *counties; in SearchViewController.m: - (void)getLocationsView { [keywordField resignFirstResponder]; SearchLocationsViewController *locationsController = [[SearchLocationsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SearchLocationsView" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:locationsController animated:YES]; [locationsController setSelectedCounties:self.counties]; [locationsController release]; } in SearchLocationsViewController.h: @interface EventsSearchLocationsViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource> { ... NSMutableArray *selectedCounties; } ... @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *selectedCounties; in SearchLocationsViewController.m (the point here is, we're toggling each element of a table being active or not in the list of selected counties): -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; if ([self.selectedCounties containsObject:[self.counties objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]) { //we're deselcting! [self.selectedCounties removeObject:[self.counties objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; cell.accessoryView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"red_check_inactive.png"]]; } else { [self.selectedCounties addObject:[self.counties objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; cell.accessoryView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"red_check_active.png"]]; } [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; } We die at [self.selectedCounties addObject.... there. Now, when I NSLog myself [self.selectedCounties class], it tells me it's an NSCFArray. How does this happen? I understand about class bundles (or I THINK I do anyway), but this is explicitly a specific type, and it's losing it subclassing at some point in a way that kills the whole thing. I just completely don't understand why that would happen.

  • how do you make a "concurrent queue safe" lazy loader (singleton manager) in objective-c

    - by Rich
Hi, I made this class that turns any object into a singleton, but I know that it's not "concurrent queue safe." Could someone please explain to me how to do this, or better yet, show me the code. To be clear I want to know how to use this with operation queues and dispatch queues (NSOperationQueue and Grand Central Dispatch) on iOS. Thanks in advance, Rich EDIT: I had an idea for how to do it. If someone could confirm it for me I'll do it and post the code. The idea is that proxies make queues all on their own. So if I make a mutable proxy (like Apple does in key-value coding/observing) for any object that it's supposed to return, and always return the same proxy for the same object/identifier pair (using the same kind of lazy loading technique as I used to create the singletons), the proxies would automatically queue up the any messages to the singletons, and make it totally thread safe. IMHO this seems like a lot of work to do, so I don't want to do it if it's not gonna work, or if it's gonna slow my apps down to a crawl. Here's my non-thread safe code: RMSingletonCollector.h // // RMSingletonCollector.h // RMSingletonCollector // // Created by Rich Meade-Miller on 2/11/11. // Copyright 2011 Rich Meade-Miller. • Running out of memory with UIImage creation on an offscreen Bitmap Context by NSOperation

    - by sigsegv
I have an app with multiple UIView subclasses that acts as pages for a UIScrollView. UIViews are moved back and forth to provide a seamless experience to the user. Since the content of the views is rather slow to draw, it's rendered on a single shared CGBitmapContext guarded by locks by NSOperation subclasses - executed one at once in an NSOperationQueue - wrapped up in an UIImage and then used by the main thread to update the content of the views. -(void)main { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc]init]; if([self isCancelled]) { return; } if(nil == data) { return; } // Buffer is the shared instance of a CG Bitmap Context wrapper class // data is a dictionary CGImageRef img = [buffer imageCreateWithData:data]; UIImage * image = [[UIImage alloc]initWithCGImage:img]; CGImageRelease(img); if([self isCancelled]) { [image release]; return; } NSDictionary * result = [[NSDictionary alloc]initWithObjectsAndKeys:image,@"image",id,@"id",nil]; // target is the instance of the UIView subclass that will use // the image [target performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(updateContentWithData:) withObject:result waitUntilDone:NO]; [result release]; [image release]; [pool release]; } The updateContentWithData: of the UIView subclass performed on the main thread is just as simple -(void)updateContentWithData:(NSDictionary *)someData { NSDictionary * data = [someData retain]; if([[data valueForKey:@"id"]isEqualToString:[self pendingRequestId]]) { UIImage * image = [data valueForKey:@"image"]; [self setCurrentImage:image]; [self setNeedsDisplay]; } // If the image has not been retained, it should be released together // with the dictionary retaining it [data release]; } The drawLayer:inContext: method of the subclass will just get the CGImage from the UIImage and use it to update the backing layer or part of it. No retain or release is involved in the process. The problem is that after a while I run out of memory. The number of the UIViews is static. CGImageRef and UIImage are created, retained and released correctly (or so it seems to me). Instruments does not show any leaks, just the free memory available dip constantly, rise a few times, and then dip even lower until the application is terminated. The app cycles through about 2-300 of the aforementioned pages before that, but I would expect to have the memory usage reach a more or less stable level of used memory after a bunch of pages have been already skimmed at fast speed or, since the images are up to 3MB in size, deplete way earlier. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I know the obvious way to do this is a recursive function using lame to encode MP3 at 192 - but lame doesn't maintain the ID3 tags! Does anyone know of another option that will retain ID3 info? Thank you all for your time / help!

  • Implementation of Nib project to Storyboard, Xcode

    - by Blake Loizides
I have made a tabbed bar application in storyboard in xcode. I,m new to xcode. I got a Sample TableView XIB project from apple that I edited to my needs,The project has a UITableView that I Customized with Images, And with help of a certain forum member I was able to link up each image to a New View Controller. I tried to port or integrate My Nib Project Code to my StoryBoard Tabbed Bar Application.I thought I had everything right had to comment out a few things to get no errors, But the project only goes to a Blank Table View. Below are 2 links, 1 to my StoryBoard Tabbed Bar Application with the Table Code that I tried to integrate and the other My Successful Nib Project. Also is some code and pictures. • Disabling JComboBox and retaining original item list

    - by n002213f
My action listener on a JComboBox invokes a thread. I would like the component to be disabled until the thread completes. I have tried calling seEnabled(false) when the thread start and setEnabled(true) when it completes. Unfortunately setEnabled(false) clears the combo box list as well. Is there a way of disabling the component but retain the original list?

  • ASP.Net ViewState doesn't work when Control become Enable=False

    - by Daok
Why when a control does contain value but it's set to .Enable=False that all controls become disable (that's ok) but why that the ViewState doesn't retain the data on the next post back? If I get the UserControl without modifing its Enable state, the ViewState work between post back. How can we disable a UserControl that all its control become disable (this part work) but all of them KEEP use the ViewState (this doesn't work)?

  • Crash in OS X Core Data Utility Tutorial

    - by vinogradov
I'm trying to follow Apple's Core Data utility Tutorial. It was all going nicely, until... The tutorial uses a custom sub-class of NSManagedObject, called 'Run'. Run.h looks like this: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import <CoreData/CoreData.h> @interface Run : NSManagedObject { NSInteger processID; } @property (retain) NSDate *date; @property (retain) NSDate *primitiveDate; @property NSInteger processID; @end Now, in Run.m we have an accessor method for the processID variable: - (void)setProcessID:(int)newProcessID { [self willChangeValueForKey:@"processID"]; processID = newProcessID; [self didChangeValueForKey:@"processID"]; } In main.m, we use functions to set up a managed object model and context, instantiate an entity called run, and add it to the context. We then get the current NSprocessInfo, in preparation for setting the processID of the run object. NSManagedObjectContext *moc = managedObjectContext(); NSEntityDescription *runEntity = [[mom entitiesByName] objectForKey:@"Run"]; Run *run = [[Run alloc] initWithEntity:runEntity insertIntoManagedObjectContext:moc]; NSProcessInfo *processInfo = [NSProcessInfo processInfo]; Next, we try to call the accessor method defined in Run.m to set the value of processID: [run setProcessID:[processInfo processIdentifier]]; And that's where it's crashing. The object run seems to exist (I can see it in the debugger), so I don't think I'm messaging nil; on the other hand, it doesn't look like the setProcessID: message is actually being received. I'm obviously still learning this stuff (that's what tutorials are for, right?), and I'm probably doing something really stupid. However, any help or suggestions would be gratefully received! ===MORE INFORMATION=== Following up on Jeremy's suggestions: The processID attribute in the model is set up like this: NSAttributeDescription *idAttribute = [[NSAttributeDescription alloc]init]; [idAttribute setName:@"processID"]; [idAttribute setAttributeType:NSInteger32AttributeType]; [idAttribute setOptional:NO]; [idAttribute setDefaultValue:[NSNumber numberWithInteger:-1]]; which seems a little odd; we are defining it as a scalar type, and then giving it an NSNumber object as its default value. In the associated class, Run, processID is defined as an NSInteger. Still, this should be OK - it's all copied directly from the tutorial. It seems to me that the problem is probably in there somewhere. By the way, the getter method for processID is defined like this: - (int)processID { [self willAccessValueForKey:@"processID"]; NSInteger pid = processID; [self didAccessValueForKey:@"processID"]; return pid; } and this method works fine; it accesses and unpacks the default int value of processID (-1). Thanks for the help so far!

  • Profile Image Update Twitter API

    - by jshollax
I am trying to upload a profile image to twitter using their API. I found some good examples on the web on how to format the URLRequest, however I just can't seem to get this to work. Any help would be appreciated. • [Iphone-Dev] Assigning values : difference between properties and class variables ?

    - by gotye
Hey guys, I noticed that I rarely use properties, due to the fact that I rarely need to access my object's variables outside my class ;) So I usually do : NSMutableArray *myArray; // not a property ! My question is : even if i don't declare myArray as a property, does iphone make a retain anyway if I do myArray = arrayPassedToMe; I think so but I just wanted to confirm ;) Any thoughts welcome ! Gotye
