  • How do I combine all lines in a text file into a single line?

    - by John
I want to get all lines in a text into one line. I'm a beginner at coding trying to learn by doing. I've spent four hours trying to solve this problem. I know there's a simple solution to this problem. Here's what I've been trying. sed -e 'N;s/\n//' myfile.txt #Does nothing sed -e :a -e N -e 's/\n/ /' -e ta myfile.txt #output all messed up and I can't make head nor tail of the syntax cat myfile.txt | tr -d '\n' myfile.txt # Deletes all lines Here's the text file: 500212 262578-4-4 23200 GRIFFITH LABORATORIES LTD GRIFFITH LABORATORIES SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL OFFICE OFFICE (INDUSTRIAL) List Rateable 2 Pineview Industrial Estate Firhouse Road Knocklyon 31 Dec 2007 01 Jan 2008" I can't figure out where I've gone wrong....

  • RichFaces rich:insert takes a long time to output large files

    - by Mark Lewis
Hello I'm using a RichFaces <rich:insert like this: <rich:panel header="my head"> <a4j:outputPanel ajaxRendered="true"> <rich:insert src="#{MyBacking.myPath}" highlight="groovy" /> </a4j:outputPanel> </rich:panel> If I have a 60k file to output, it takes 23 seconds. I've got a requirement to output the contents of some larger files than that and obviously the larger the file, the larger the wait for content. The recommendation in the answer to another related question is to introduce paging. I will, but the question is, why does it take so long to output 60k of text using JSF/RichFaces? That is, reading off a local disk with Windows XP SP2 PC - I can see from the log the data has already been written to disk from the network. Other scripting languages appear to be faster than this - is it something to do with the JSF lifecycle having to handle the text maybe? Thanks

  • How to add a rich text box or use html and links in asp.net mvc 2?

    - by VJ
Hi all I wanted to allow the users to enter html and links in textbox. How can I achieve something like this in ASP.NET MVC 2? I have something like this now... <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextAreaFor(model => model.Description) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Description) %> </div> I found this link - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2238393/allow-html-in-text-boxes-asp-net-mvc But I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 and I am looking for something that MVC provides for this by default like a rich textbox or something and not just disable the validation.

  • PhpBB3: adding background to specific php generated text input without affecting the other text inputs

    - by user1780055
I have created a custom PhpBB3 style and desperately since a few hours tried to add a background image to a specific comment text area. With firebug I checked if the comment text area had a class and it does, so I tried some css variations and finally tried: sn-inputComment { background: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/pencil.png") repeat-x left top #FFFFFF;} { I also tried to find and manipulate the php generated text area but no success. Non of my methods worked. I will provide you all with a tinylink url to my forum with a test user and password access. User: test Password: 123456 url: http://tinyurl.com/9yqpxdb Now when you are logged in you should be redirected to the correct url and you will see a a few text boxes with "Write a comment...". I would be very happy if you could tell me what I did wrong, why im not able to add a background to the text input without having my search boxes and "what is on your mind box" affected. I appreciate your time and hope that this can be somehow solved. Sincerely, Daniel

  • Markdown to text/plain and text/html for multipart email

    - by fphilipe
I’m looking for a solution to send DRY multipart emails in Rails. With DRY I mean that the content for the mail is only defined once. I’ve thought about some possible solutions but haven’t found any existing implementations. The solutions I’ve thought about are: load the text from I18n and apply Markdown for the html mail and apply Markdown with a special output type for the text mail where links are put in parenthesis after the link text bold, italic and other formatting that doesn't make sense are removed ordered and unordered lists are maintained generate only the html mail and convert that to text according to the above conditions Is there any available solution out there? Which one is probably the better way to do it?

  • When should an array name be treated as a pointer and when does it just represent the array itself? [duplicate]

    - by user1087373
    This question already has an answer here: When is an array name or a function name 'converted' into a pointer ? (in C) 4 answers I just made a test program after reading the book and the result turned out confusing: #include <stdio.h> int main(void) { char text[] = "hello!"; printf("sizeof(text):%d sizeof(text+2):%d sizeof(text[0]):%d \n",(int)sizeof(text), sizeof(text+2), sizeof(text[0])); printf("text:%p sizeof(text):%d &text:%p sizeof(&text):%d \n",text, sizeof(text), &text, sizeof(&text)); printf("text+1:%p &text+1:%p \n", text+1, &text+1); return 0; } The result: sizeof(text):7 sizeof(text+2):4 sizeof(text[0]):1 text:0xbfc8769d sizeof(text):7 &text:0xbfc8769d sizeof(&text):4 text+1:0xbfc8769e &text+1:0xbfc876a4 What makes me feel confused are: why the value of 'sizeof(text)' is 7 whereas 'sizeof(text+2)' is 4 what's the difference between 'text' and '&text'?

  • Flash Displaying Weird Text in a Dynamic Text Field

    - by Andrew M
I am working in Flash CS5 and I have placed a text field (dynamic, classic text) on the stage. I am accessing it through Actionscript on the same frame like this: var ct:TextField = TextField(getChildByName("Temperature")); ct.text = "Hello world"; What ACTUALLY appears is this: eo wor So... The H, Ls, and D are gone. Mysteriously. Without warning. I am sitting here utterly confused. Is this just me? PS. The text field is set to Myriad Pro Bold, a font on my computer, so it isn't like it's a font problem.

  • capture text, including tags from string, and then reorder tags with text

    - by Brian
I have the following text: abcdef<CONVERSION>abcabcabcabc<2007-01-12><name1><2007-01-12>abcabcabcabc<name2><2007-01-11>abcabcabcabc<name3><2007-02-12>abcabcabcabc<name4>abcabcabcabc<2007-03-12><name5><date>abcabcabcabc<name6> I need to use regular expressions in order to clean the above text: The basic extraction rule is: <2007-01-12>abcabcabcabc<name2> I have no problem extracting this pattern. My issue is that within th text I have malformed sequences: If the text doesn't start with a date, and end with a name my extraction fails. For example, the text above may have several mal formed sequences, such as: abcabcabcabc<2007-01-12><name1> Should be: <2007-01-12>abcabcabcabc<name1> Is it possible to have a regular expression that would clean the above, prior to extracting my consistent pattern. In short, i need to find all mal formed patterns, and then take the date tag and put it in front of it, as provided in the example above. Thanks.

  • jQuery way to replace just a text node with a mix of HTML and text

    - by hippietrail
In my web browser userscript project I need to replace just one text node without affecting the other HTML elements under the same parent node as the text. And I need to replace it with more than one node: <div id="target"> some text<img src="/image.png"> </div> Needs to become: <div id="target"> <a href="#">mixed</a> text <a href="#">and</a> HTML<img src="/image.png"> </div> I know jQuery doesn't have a whole lot of support for text nodes. I know I could use direct DOM calls instead of jQuery. And I know I could just do something like $('#target').html(my new stuff + stuff I don't want to change). What I'd like to ask the experts here is, Is there a most idiomatic jQuery way to do this?

  • Unable to center text in IE but works in firefox

    - by greenpool
    Can somebody point out where I'm going wrong with the following code. Text inside td elements need to be centered except for Summary and Experience. This only appears to work in Firefox/chrome. In IE8 all td text are displayed as left-justified. No matter what I try it doesn't center it. Any particular reason why this would happen? Thanks. css #viewAll { font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; width:100%; border-collapse:collapse; margin-left:10px; table-layout: fixed; } #viewAll td, #viewAll th { font-size:1.1em; border:1px solid #98bf21; word-wrap:break-word; text-align:center; overflow:hidden; } #viewAll tbody td{ padding:2px; } #viewAll th { font-size:1.1em; padding-top:5px; padding-bottom:4px; background-color:#A7C942; color:#ffffff; } table <?php echo '<table id="viewAll" class="tablesorter">'; echo '<thead>'; echo '<tr align="center">'; echo '<th style="width:70px;">Product</th>'; echo '<th style="width:105px;">Prob</th>'; echo '<th style="width:105px;">I</th>'; echo '<th style="width:60px;">Status</th>'; echo '<th style="width:120px;">Experience</th>'; echo '<th style="width:200px;">Technical Summary</th>'; echo '<th style="width:80px;">Record Created</th>'; echo '<th style="width:80px;">Record Updated</th>'; echo '<th style="width:50px;">Open</th>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '</thead>'; echo '<tbody>'; while ($data=mysqli_fetch_array($result)){ #limiting the summary text displayed in the table $limited_summary = (strlen($data['summary']) > 300) ? substr(($data['summary']),0,300) . • Loosely Coupled Tabs in Java Editor

    - by Geertjan
One of the NetBeans Platform 7.1 API enhancements is the @MultiViewElement.Registration annotation. That lets you add a new tab to any existing NetBeans editor. Really powerful since I didn't need to change the sources (or even look at the sources) of the Java editor to add the "Visualizer" tab to it, as shown below: Right now, the tab doesn't show anything, that will come in the next blog entry. The point here is to show how to set things up so that you have a new tab in the Java editor, without needing to touch any of the NetBeans IDE sources: And here's the code, take note of the annotation, which registers the JPanel for the "text/x-java" MIME type: import javax.swing.Action; import javax.swing.JComponent; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JToolBar; import org.netbeans.core.spi.multiview.CloseOperationState; import org.netbeans.core.spi.multiview.MultiViewElement; import org.netbeans.core.spi.multiview.MultiViewElementCallback; import org.openide.awt.UndoRedo; import org.openide.loaders.DataObject; import org.openide.util.Lookup; import org.openide.util.NbBundle; import org.openide.windows.TopComponent; @MultiViewElement.Registration(displayName = "#LBL_Visualizer", iconBase = "org/java/vis/icon.gif", mimeType = "text/x-java", persistenceType = TopComponent.PERSISTENCE_NEVER, preferredID = "JavaVisualizer", position = 3000) @NbBundle.Messages({     "LBL_Visualizer=Visualizer" }) public class JavaVisualizer extends JPanel implements MultiViewElement {     private JToolBar toolbar = new JToolBar();     private DataObject obj;     private MultiViewElementCallback mvec;     public JavaVisualizer(Lookup lkp) {         obj = lkp.lookup(DataObject.class);         assert obj != null;     }     @Override     public JComponent getVisualRepresentation() {         return this;     }     @Override     public JComponent getToolbarRepresentation() {         return toolbar;     }     @Override     public Action[] getActions() {         return new Action[0];     }     @Override     public Lookup getLookup() {         return obj.getLookup();     }     @Override     public void componentOpened() {     }     @Override     public void componentClosed() {     }     @Override     public void componentShowing() {     }     @Override     public void componentHidden() {     }     @Override     public void componentActivated() {     }     @Override     public void componentDeactivated() {     }     @Override     public UndoRedo getUndoRedo() {         return UndoRedo.NONE;     }     @Override     public void setMultiViewCallback(MultiViewElementCallback mvec) {         this.mvec = mvec;     }     @Override     public CloseOperationState canCloseElement() {         return CloseOperationState.STATE_OK;     } } It's a fair amount of code, but mostly pretty self-explanatory. The loosely coupled tabs are applicable to all NetBeans editors, not just the Java editor, which is why the "History" tab is now available to all editors throughout NetBeans IDE. In the next blog entry, you'll see the integration of the Visual Library into the panel I embedded in the Java editor.

  • Visual View for Schema Based Editor

    - by Geertjan
Starting from yesterday's blog entry, make the following change in the DataObject's constructor: registerEditor("text/x-sample+xml", true); I.e., the MultiDataObject.registerEditor method turns the editor into a multiview component. Now, again, within the DataObject, add the following, to register a source editor in the multiview component: @MultiViewElement.Registration(         displayName = "#LBL_Sample_Source",         mimeType = "text/x-sample+xml",         persistenceType = TopComponent.PERSISTENCE_NEVER,         preferredID = "ShipOrderSourceView",         position = 1000) @NbBundle.Messages({     "LBL_Sample_Source=Source" }) public static MultiViewElement createEditor(Lookup lkp){     return new MultiViewEditorElement(lkp); } Result: Next, let's create a visual editor in the multiview component. This could be within the same module as the above or within a completely separate module. That makes it possible for external contributors to provide modules with new editors in an existing multiview component: @MultiViewElement.Registration(displayName = "#LBL_Sample_Visual", mimeType = "text/x-sample+xml", persistenceType = TopComponent.PERSISTENCE_NEVER, preferredID = "VisualEditorComponent", position = 500) @NbBundle.Messages({ "LBL_Sample_Visual=Visual" }) public class VisualEditorComponent extends JPanel implements MultiViewElement {     public VisualEditorComponent() {         initComponents();     }     @Override     public String getName() {         return "VisualEditorComponent";     }     @Override     public JComponent getVisualRepresentation() {         return this;     }     @Override     public JComponent getToolbarRepresentation() {         return new JToolBar();     }     @Override     public Action[] getActions() {         return new Action[0];     }     @Override     public Lookup getLookup() {         return Lookup.EMPTY;     }     @Override     public void componentOpened() {     }     @Override     public void componentClosed() {     }     @Override     public void componentShowing() {     }     @Override     public void componentHidden() {     }     @Override     public void componentActivated() {     }     @Override     public void componentDeactivated() {     }     @Override     public UndoRedo getUndoRedo() {         return UndoRedo.NONE;     }     @Override     public void setMultiViewCallback(MultiViewElementCallback callback) {     }     @Override     public CloseOperationState canCloseElement() {         return CloseOperationState.STATE_OK;     } } Result: Next, the DataObject is automatically returned from the Lookup of DataObject. Therefore, you can go back to your visual editor, add a LookupListener, listen for DataObjects, parse the underlying XML file, and display values in GUI components within the visual editor.
