  • Backing up a 22 GB MySQL database daily

    Right now I am able to do the backup using mysqldump. But I have to take down the web server AND it takes around 5 minutes to do the backup. If I don't take down the web server, it takes forever and never finishes + the website becomes inaccessible during the backup. Is there a quicker/better way to backup my 22 GB and growing database? All the tables are MyISAM.

  • 301 redirect from a country specific domain

    I originally started using a .do domain extension for my site, but later realized that this country specific domain would prevent us from appearing in search results for places outside of the Dominican Republic. We started using a .co domain extension and redirected all requests to the new domain using an HTTP 301. The "Crawl Stats" in Google Webmaster Tools shows me that the .co domain is being crawled, but the "Index Status" shows the number of pages indexed at 0. The "Crawl Stats" for the .do domain says that it's being crawled and the "Index Status" shows a number greater than 0. I also set a "Change Of Address" in Google Webmaster Tools to have the .do domain point to the new .co domain. We're still not appearing in search results at all even for very specific strings where I would expect to find us. Am I doing something wrong?

The wikipedia link above is an overview of the concept. The short form explanation is that a co-op is a worker-owned business. Also there is the notion that every worker owns shares in the business. I am interested in knowing whether an example of a "programmer's/IT co-op" even exists. Note: I am not talking about nor asking about a government-funded incubator nor any other socialized, state supported group. I also don't mean "co-working", which is renting an office with other self employed people doing their own thing. I mean a going, profitable IT business operating in a competitive environment that is worker-owned and run.

Now that I've invested too large a chunk of my waking life in crafting our email headers I'm curious to know what an X-YMailISG header is. Can anybody tell me? Does it pose any security / authenticity issues? There's very little intelligible from Google results. Background: After many days tweaking TXT records in our domain's DNS zone file for SPF and DKIM, I have at last succeeded in generating email from our Drupal site that Yahoo! no longer marks as X-YahooFilteredBulk and the excellent service [email protected] returns results that show the emails passing SPF, DKIM and Sender-ID checks and appearing to SpamAssassin as ham. Yahoo! even adds a Received-SPF: pass header.   • Creating typed WSDL’s for generic WCF services of the ESB Toolkit

    source: http://geekswithblogs.net/charliemott Question How do you make it easy for client systems to consume the generic WCF services exposed by the ESB Toolkit using messages that conform to agreed schemas\contracts?  Usually the developer of a system consuming a web service adds a service reference using a WSDL. However, the WSDL’s for the generic services exposed by the ESB Toolkit do not make it easy to develop clients that conform to agreed schemas\contracts. Recommendation Take a copy of the generic WSDL’s and modify it to use the proper contracts. This is very easy.  It will work with the generic on ramps so long as the <part>?</part> wrapping is removed from the WCF adapter configuration in the BizTalk receive locations.  Attempting to create a WSDL where the input and output messages are sent/returned with a <part> wrapper is a nightmare.  I have not managed it.  Consequences I can only see the following consequences of removing the <part> wrapper: ESB Test Client – I needed to modify the out-of-the-box ESB Test Client source code to make it send non-wrapped messages.  Flat file formatted messages – the endpoint will no longer support flat file message formats.  However, even if you needed to support this integration pattern through WCF, you would most-likely want to create a separate receive location anyway with its’ own independently configured XML disassembler pipeline component. Instructions These steps show how to implement a request-response implementation of this.     Hi there Im am trying to use the isapi rewrite tool on my web domain to write some basic rules, but am getting a bit confused. My base url is http://forevr-dev.co.uk/musicexplained/index.cfm and every page on the site follows from this base url. For example http://forevr-dev.co.uk/musicexplained/index.cfm/artist/blondie would be the artist page for blondie.. What I am looking for, is a rewrite rule, that would remove the index.cfm from the url, instead leaving http://forevr-dev.co.uk/musicexplained/artist/blondie. I have put the httpd.ini file in my musicexplained folder, under the root of my forevr-dev.co.uk domain, and I am using the following code below, which I used from the coldbox coldfusion framework application examples.     Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia.     TinyMCE has always been a little difficult to align images. Either the align tag, or adding style="float: left;" has been it solution. Ideally I would just like to add class="left" or class="right" so that I can set the border and margins of the image. Up until now the only way to do this without using the advimage plugin was to insert the image, then select it, the select a style from the style menu. Ideally I should be able to use the align control in the image dialogue to set the alignment class or use the alignment controls on the toolbar when in the main editing window. I have just again started looking at a solution to this, now that IE6 is finally starting to die, I can use CSS attributes in selectors, so IMG[style="float: left;"] {} Works, but I would rather use a class incase there are any other style attributes which will cause the selector to fail. And it doesn't work in IE6, and you know some corporate clients will still be running the bloody thing! So I looked through the TinyMCE documentation and found the formats configuration option, that seems to allow you to specify how tinyMCE applies code for various operations. Here I can add the IMG tag as a selector, and have classes: "left" for the alignleft function. This applies the class correctly when the alignment is selected from the toolbar, but it still writes an inline style when the alignment is selected through the image dialogue. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better way of doing this that will allow my clients to select image alignment from both the image dialogue and the toolbar, whilst applying a class to the image?

    There exists an unknown target location (latitude and longitude co-ordinates). I have 3 latitude and longitude co-ordinate pairs and for each pair a distance in kilometers to the target location. How can I calculate the co-ordinates of the target location? For example, say I have the following data points 37.418436,-121.963477 0.265710701754km 37.417243,-121.961889 0.234592423446km 37.418692,-121.960194 0.0548954278262km What I'd like is what would the guts of the function that takes that as input and returns 37.417959,-121.961954 as output look like? I understand how to calculate the distance between two points, from http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html I understand the general principle that with three circles you get exactly one point of overlap. What I'm hazy on is the math needed to calculate that point with this input.

    I have an ASP.NET website with a regular expression validator text box. I have changed the expression in the regular expression validation property "validator expression" and after compiling (rebuild) and running, the validation CHANGEs are not reflecting. The previous validation is working fine but the changed validation is not working.   • Email form isn't sending

    Hi I have an email form that isn't sending out an email to the recipient or a copy to the client. The form can be found at www.kelcos.co.uk/contact and the files associated with this are: /index.php /jquery.js /sendemail.php /submitform.php /thanks.php /verify.php I have used this form on other websites http://www.bowlesgreen.co.uk/contact/ and http://www.arbortectreecare.co.uk/contact/ and it works fine - the only difference is that these other sites use my usual hosting provider and for the one that won't send I'm working through the clients hosting provider, which I can only presume is what is causing the problem. I have contacted the hosting and so far we have eliminated a few things such as: 'The limitation to our systems is that the emails sent using scripts will be blocked if they are not going to or coming from an email address setup on the web hosting account. - so I am now sending the form to an a kelcos.co.uk address, but still no joy. PHP/ASP was originally disabled, but now has been activated the mail() script is enabled I would really appreciated any advise any of you could offer. Thanks

    I have created folders in my root example: http://www.zipholidays.co.uk/Cuba or http://www.zipholidays.co.uk/Florida When I type http://www.zipholidays.co.uk/cuba (Cube in lowercase), it shows page not found. I'm using Apache server. People are linking to pages with lowercase, uppercase, mixed case - whatever. What do I do to make the pages case insensitive?

    Hi, i want to get the domain extention (at least i hope it is called this way) from the site name the user is currently on. so from www.bbc.co.uk it's co.uk and www.google.com = .com http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask = .com etc. especially the ones with the double name (like co.uk) gives me headaches....

  • 2 sites each in a different country with 1 set of content (cloaking)

    Hi, I have a question re: cloaking. I have a friend who has a business in Canada and the UK. Currently the .ca site is hosted on Godaddy. The co.uk domain is registered (with uk ip address) with domainmonster and is using a cloaked/framed redirect to the .ca site. As a result (my assumption) the .ca site is indexed fine by google, the .co.uk is not. The content is generic for both sites. How do I point the .co.uk site directly to the content independently (preferably without duplicating the content hosting in the UK), so that for instance if the .ca domain was taken away altogether the .co.uk domain would remain an entity in itself from Google's point of view? Does Google index a generic set of content and then associate different country domains with that content? I hope I have explained this ok. Thanks, Greg
