• 12c - flashforward, flashback or see it as of now...

  Oracle 9i exposed flashback query to developers for the first time.  The ability to flashback query dates back to version 4 however (it just wasn't exposed).  Every time you run a query in Oracle it is in fact a flashback query - it is what multi-versioning is all about.However, there was never a flashforward query (well, ok, the workspace manager has this capability - but with lots of extra baggage).  We've never been able to ask a table "what will you look like tomorrow" - but now we do.The capability is called Temporal Validity.  If you have a table with data that is effective dated - has a "start date" and "end date" column in it - we can now query it using flashback query like syntax.  The twist is - the date we "flashback" to can be in the future.  It works by rewriting the query to transparently the necessary where clause and filter out the right rows for the right period of time - and since you can have records whose start date is in the future - you can query a table and see what it would look like at some future time.Here is a quick example, we'll start with a table:ops$tkyte%ORA12CR1> create table addresses  2  ( empno       number,  3    addr_data   varchar2(30),  4    start_date  date,  5    end_date    date,  6    period for valid(start_date,end_date)  7  )  8  /Table created.the new bit is on line 6 (it can be altered into an existing table - so any table  you have with a start/end date column will be a candidate).  The keyword is PERIOD, valid is an identifier I chose - it could have been foobar, valid just sounds nice in the query later.  You identify the columns in your table - • jqgrid with asp.net webmethod and json working with sorting, paging, searching and LINQ

Most topics covering jqgrid and asp.net seem to relate to just receiving JSON, or working in the MVC framework, or utilizing other handlers or web services... but not many dealt with actually passing parameters back to an actual webmethod in the codebehind. Furthermore, scarce are the examples that contain successful implementation the AJAX paging, sorting, or searching along with LINQ to SQL for asp.net jqGrid. To serialize the JSON back from the C-sharp to the JS, I incorporated the James Newton-King JSON.net DLL found here : http://json.codeplex.com/releases/view/37810. In that 6 pages are having more static text and mere direct mapping and remaining two pages consists of table like data. one page contains huge table so i filled it directly with no problem by keeping a single table in detail band. now problem is that remaining one page. that page is having more than 5 small tables (two or four column). is t possible to have more that one table in a page in jasper reports ? i am using jasper reports and for designing jasper assistant/ireports.

  How do you implement a multiselect combobox as part of a Ext.FormPanel using ExtJs? I've been looking, but can't seem to find a solution that is compatible with the latest version of ExtJs (this question is similar, but doesn't have a working/current solution).   I know this topic has been asked, but the posts are all out of date, or not functional on IE8. In brief we basically want to do the excel style locking of column headers in a GridView. I have seen a couple of solutions one jquery+ css(setExpression) which doesn't work in IE8. And another that uses ajax extensions, yet again doesn't work in IE8.   i'm using linq-to-sql and i'm use complied linq for better performance. I have a users table with a INT field called "LookingFor" that can have the following values.1,2,3,12,123,13,23. I wrote a query to return the users based on the "lookingFor" column i want to return all users that contains the "lookingFor" value (not only those equal to it). However , I seem to have seen in old examples direct binding to Uri property. <dg:DataGridHyperlinkColumn IsReadOnly="True" Header="Uri" Binding="{Binding Path=NavigURI}" /> NavigURI is Uri . More recent docs seem to require a converter <DataGridHyperlinkColumn Header="Email" Binding="{Binding Email}" ContentBinding="{Binding Email, Converter={StaticResource EmailConverter}}" /> I tried with a converter also, but in both cases with or without converter column is empty. Debugging showed that value passed to "Convert" method is always null. My question : if for any reason I want binding to Uri property , is it feasible for the latest DataGrid from Codeplex ?

In the jqrid documents http://www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:colmodel_options it says: align: Defines the alignment of the cell in the Body layer, not in header cell. Possible values: left, center, right. Note that it says "not in the header cell". How can I do this for the header cell (grid title cell)? The documentation fails to mention this little detail....

• Reporting Services 2010 RDLC: Passing Querystring Parameters from an RDLC

  I'm trying to build a simple RDLC report that shows some data, and has a 'select' link that sends the browser off to a certain url with some data in the querystring (a key). In the vs2010 report designer, I can double-click on the column, then select action, and there are a bunch of thigns that seem like they might work. But none of them do. Under 'enable as a hyperlink' I can pick 'go to url' but there aren't any parameter options to pass. I also tried 'go to report' on the off chance that I could trick it into doing what I want. Here there are parameter options, but it knows that my url is not a report and the "select" link renders as text (not clickable). Any ideas? I'm pretty sure this used to work in vs2008, and it seems like something that must be doable. But I've been pulling out my hair for several hours on this one.

• Subtotal error on calculated field in a Reporting Services Matrix

  I've got a Reporting Services report that has two row groups: Category and SubCategory. For columns it has LastYearDataA, ThisYearDataA, LastYearDataB, ThisYearDataB. I added two columns (one for A and one for B) to handle an expression calculation (to show a percentage different from LastYear to ThisYear for each). That's working. The problem comes in the SubTotal for each category. The raw numbers are totaling correctly. If SubCat1 has 10//5 for LastYear/ThisYear A, and SubCat2 has 5//1, then I get 15/5 for the totals. But I get the percentage reported in the total column as "50%", matching SubCat1. Percentages for each Subcategory are being calculated correctly (according to my backup math, anyway). But the sub total % always matches the first SubCategory in the group. Is this impossible to do in Reporting Services 2005?
