How can I modify the above query and exclude files that end in bin from the result? I tried the following query but it is not working: (kind:iso OR kind:archive) AND NOT name:*bin Thanks in advance.

  • Is there a way to efficiently yield every file in a directory containing millions of files?

    I'm aware of os.listdir, but as far as I can gather, that gets all the filenames in a directory into memory, and then returns the list. What I want, is a way to yield a filename, work on it, and then yield the next one, without reading them all into memory. Is there any way to do this? I worry about the case where filenames change, new files are added, and files are deleted using such a method. Some iterators prevent you from modifying the collection during iteration, essentially by taking a snapshot of the state of the collection at the beginning, and comparing that state on each move operation. If there is an iterator capable of yielding filenames from a path, does it raise an error if there are filesystem changes (add, remove, rename files within the iterated directory) which modify the collection? There could potentially be a few cases that could cause the iterator to fail, and it all depends on how the iterator maintains state. Using S.Lotts example: filea.txt fileb.txt filec.txt Iterator yields filea.txt. During processing, filea.txt is renamed to filey.txt and fileb.txt is renamed to filez.txt. When the iterator attempts to get the next file, if it were to use the filename filea.txt to find it's current position in order to find the next file and filea.txt is not there, what would happen? It may not be able to recover it's position in the collection. Similarly, if the iterator were to fetch fileb.txt when yielding filea.txt, it could look up the position of fileb.txt, fail, and produce an error. If the iterator instead was able to somehow maintain an index dir.get_file(0), then maintaining positional state would not be affected, but some files could be missed, as their indexes could be moved to an index 'behind' the iterator. This is all theoretical of course, since there appears to be no built-in (python) way of iterating over the files in a directory. There are some great answers below, however, that solve the problem by using queues and notifications. Edit: The OS of concern is Redhat. My use case is this: Process A is continuously writing files to a storage location. Process B (the one I'm writing), will be iterating over these files, doing some processing based on the filename, and moving the files to another location. Edit: Definition of valid: Adjective 1.   • Can Visual Studio manage function prototypes for me in C++ header files?

    In C++, the common practice is to declare functions in header files and define them in cpp files. This leads to always having two copies of every function's prototype. Then whenever I want to change a function's name/return value/parameter, I have to manually change it in both files. This seems unnecessarily tedious and there must be lots of people that share my pain, so is there a way to automate these changes between files in VS? Bonus points for vim solutions as well.

    Hi! I'm doing a INSERT ... ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE but I need the update part to be conditional, only doing the update if some extra condition has changed. However, WHERE is not allowed on this UPDATE. Is there any workaround for this? I can't do combinations of INSERT/UPDATE/SELECT since this needs to work over a replication.

  • Problem interfacing GSM USB modem to Java application

    I am working on an open-source application called FrontlineSMS which can be interfaced with GSM modems to send and receive SMS. The windows installer that is available through their website works fine. Since i wanted to modify it, I got the source code and built the jar and tried to launch it. When I plug in the GSM modem and launch the application, it sometimes detects the GSM device and i am even able to send and receive SMS. Or else 1.)     Possible Duplicate: What to do with random pages after a 301 redirect? Currently, we are working on modifying the contents of a website of one of our products. Since we are re-positioning the product, we would like to delete roughly 50% (around 200) of the pages of the website. My questions, in terms of SEO are: Would it have a negative effect if Google suddenly sees the large page drop? Is it OK to provide a 301 to the start page of the website for all removed pages?

  • ffmpeg 0.5 flv to wav conversion creates wav files that other programs won't open.

    Hi, I am using the following command to convert FLV files to audio files to feed into julian, a speech to text program. cat ./jon2.flv | ffmpeg -i - -vn -acodec pcm_s16le -ar 16000 -ac 1 -f wav - | cat - > jon2.wav The cat's are there for debugging purposes as the final use will be a running program that will pipe FLV into ffmpeg's stdin and the stdout going to julian. The resulting wave files are identified by "file" as: jon3.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 16000 Hz VLC (based on ffmpeg) plays the file, but no other tools will open/see the data. They show empty wav files or won't open/play. For example Sound Booth from CS4. Has anyone else had similar problems? Julian requires wav files 16bit mono at 16000 Hz. Julian does seem to read the file, but doesn't seem to go through the entire file (may be unrelated). Thanks, -rr

  • What's the best way to read/write array contents from/to binary files in C#?

    I would like to read and write the contents of large ( 2GB), raw volume files (e.g. MRI scans). These files are just a sequence of e.g. 32 x 32 x 32 floats so they map well to 1D arrays. I would like to be able to read the contents of the binary volume files into 1D arrays of e.g. float or ushort (depending on the data type of the binary files) and similarly export the arrays back out to the raw volume files. What's the best way to do this with C#? Read/Write them 1 element at a time with BinaryReader/BinaryWriter? Read them piece-wise into byte arrays with FileStream.Read and then do a System.Buffer.BlockCopy between arrays (keeping in mind that I want 2GB arrays)? Write my own Reader/Writer?

  • TortoiseSVN shows red ! decorator for folder, but no files within it are marked with !

    I'm new to SVN. I'm using the latest version (svn 1.6.9, TortoiseSVN 1.6.7.18415). Some folders who a red exclamation point next to them. If I drill down, I find a sub folder with ! as well but no files within that are marked with ! (all are either a green checkmark or no icon (because they are Ignored (like .exe files) . What I've tried: Cleanup {reported success} Add {reports nothing to add. All files either under version control has been ignored per the .ignore property. Commit {succeeds} SVNupdate {succeeds} Restarted computer. Some oddities: -I had a bunch of CVS folders (these files were copied over from a PC that was using CVS but we don't need that version history so I didn't import it into SVN). I deleted those CVS\ folders and they are showing up (as unversioned files) when I CheckIn. Any ideas?

  • Can "\Device\NamedPipe\\Win32Pipes" handles cause "Too many open files" error?

    Continuing from this question: When I am trying to do fopen on Windows, I get a "Too many open files" error. I tried to analyze, how many open files I have, and seems like not too much. But when I executed Process Explorer, I noticed that I have many open handles with similar names: "\Device\NamedPipe\Win32Pipes.00000590.000000e2", "\Device\NamedPipe\Win32Pipes.00000590.000000e3", etc. I see that the number of these handles is exactly equal to the number of the iterations that my program executed, before it returned "Too many open files" and stopped. I am looking for an answer, what are these handles, and could they actually cause the "Too many open files" error? In my program I am loading files from remote drive, and I am creating TCP/IP connections. Could one of these operations create these handles?

  • How to execute an Ant task only when source files have been modified?

    There must be an easy way to do this. I build a Flex app using ant that depends on a SWC library, which works fine except that it rebuilds the library whether it needs to or not. How do I tell ant to only run the task if any of the sources files of the library (*.as, *.mxml) are newer than the SWC? I've looked at <dependset but it only seems to delete files, not determine whether a task should be run or not. <depend seems to expect a one-to-one relationship between the source and target files rather than a one-to-many relationship -- I have many input files and one output file, but no intermediate object files.
