  • BizTalk server problem

    Hi, we have a biztalk server (a virtual one (1!)...) at our company, and an sql server where the data is being kept. Now we have a lot of data traffic. I'm talking about hundred of thousands. So I'm actually not even sure if one server is pretty safe, but our company is not that easy to convince. Now recently we have a lot of problems. Allow me to situate in detail, so I'm not missing anything: Our server has 5 applications: One with 3 orchestrations, 12 send ports, 16 receive locations. One with 4 orchestrations, 32 send ports, 20 receive locations. One with 4 orchestrations, 24 send ports, 20 receive locations. One with 47 (yes 47) orchestrations, 37 send ports, 6 receive locations. One with common application with a couple of resources. Our problems have occured since we deployed the applications with the 47 orchestrations. A lot of these orchestrations use assign shapes which use c# code to do the mapping. This is because we use HL7 extensions and this is kind of special, so by using c# code & xpath it was a lot easier to do the mapping because a lot of these schema's look alike. The c# reads in XmlNodes received through xpath, and returns XmlNode which are then assigned again to biztalk messages. I'm not sure if this could be the cause, but I thought I'd mention it. The send and receive ports have a lot of different types: File, MQSeries, SQL, MLLP, FTP. Each of these types have a different host instances, to balance out the load. Our orchestrations use the BiztalkApplication host. On this server also a couple of scripts are running, mostly ftp upload scripts & also a zipper script, which zips files every half an hour in a daily zip and deletes the zip files after a month. We use this zipscript on our backup files (we backup a lot, backups are also on our server), we did this because the server had problems with sending files to a location where there were a lot (A LOT) of files, so after the files were reduced to zips it went better. Now the problems we are having recently are mainly two major problems: Our most important problem is the following. We kept a receive location with a lot of messages on a queue for testing. After we start this receive location which uses the 47 orchestrations, the running service instances start to sky rock. Ok, this is pretty normal. Let's say about 10000, and then we stop the receive location to see how biztalk handles these 10000 instances. Normally they would go down pretty fast, and it does sometimes, but after a while it starts to "throttle", meaning they just stop being processed and the service instances stay at the same number, for example in 30 seconds it goes down from 10000 to 4000 and then it stays at 4000 and it lowers very very very slowly, like 30 in 5minutes or something. So this means, that all the other service instances of the other applications are also stuck in here, and they are also not processed. We noticed that after restarting our host instances the instance number went down fast again. So we tried to selectively restart different host instances to locate the problem. We noticed that eventually restarting the file send/receive host instance would do the trick. So we thought file sends would be the problem. Concidering that we make a lot of backups. So we replaced the file type backups with mqseries backups. The same problem occured, and funny thing, restarting the file send/receive host still fixes the problem. No errors can be found in the event viewer either. A second problem we're having is. That sometimes at arround 6 am, all or a part of the host instances are being stopped. In the event viewer we noticed the following errors (these are more than one): The receive location "MdnBericht SQL" with URL "SQL://ZNACDBPEG/mdnd0001/" is shutting down. Details:"The error threshold has been exceeded. The receive location is shutting down.". The Messaging Engine failed to add a receive location "M2m Othello Export Start Bestand" with URL "\m2mservices\Othello_import$\DataFilter Start*.xml" to the adapter "FILE". Reason: "The FILE adapter cannot access the folder \m2mservices\Othello_import$\DataFilter Start. Verify this folder exists. Error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. ". The FILE adapter cannot access the folder \m2mservices\Othello_import$\DataFilter Start. Verify this folder exists. Error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. An attempt to connect to "BizTalkMsgBoxDb" SQL Server database on server "ZNACDBBTS" failed. Error: "Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection." It woould seem that there's a login failure at this time and that because of it other services are also experiencing problems, and eventually they are shut down. The thing is, our user is admin, and it's impossible that it's password is wrong "sometimes". We have concidering that the problem could be due to an infrastructure problem, but that's not really are department. I know it's a long post, but we're not sure anymore what to do. Would adding another server and balancing the load solve our problems? Is there a way to meassure our balance and know where to start splitting? What are normal numbers of load etc?   • Installation of SAP Web Application Server 6.20 fails

    I tried installing a trial version of SAP NetWeaver 7.1 on Windows Vista on my laptop but I couldn't succeed. Then I tried installing SAP Web Application Server 6.20. The installation goes all the way to 91%, at which point I get some errors and the installation stops. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have looked in /usr/local/apache/logs/secure and I don't see the proper error. Should I be looking in a different place? Using the same credentials, no matter what we try we get 401. The server VPN ip is whitelisted in internet explorer intranet settings. Any ideas? Basically HTTP authentication is failing for the VPN although it shouldn't, since the browser works fine!

    I set up a website with my own custom PHP code. It appears that people from places like Ukraine are trying to hack it. They're trying a bunch of odd accesses, seemingly to detect what PHP files I've got. They've discovered that I have PHP files called mail.php and sendmail.php, for instance. They've tried a bunch of GET options like: http://mydomain.com/index.php?do=/user/register/ http://mydomain.com/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=login http://mydomain.com/index.php?act=Login&CODE=00 I suppose these all pertain to something like LiveJournal? Here's what's odd, and the subject of my question. They're trying this URL: http://mydomain.com?3e3ea140 What kind of website is vulnerable to a 32-bit hex number?

  • Mac OS X 10.8 VPN Server: Bypass VPN for LAN traffic (routing LAN traffic to secondary connection)

    I have somewhat of an odd setup for a VPN server with OS X Mountain Lion. It's essentially being used as a bridge to bypass my company's firewall to our extranet connection - certain things our team needs to do require unfettered access to the outside, and changing IT policies to allow traffic through the main firewall is just not an option. The extranet connection is provided through a Wireless-N router (let's call it Wi-Fi X). My Mac Mini server is configured with the connection to this router as the primary connection, thus unfettered access to the internet via the router. Connections to this device on the immediate subnet are possible through the LAN port, but outside the subnet things are less reliable. I was able to configure the VPN server to provide IP addresses to clients in the 192.168.11.150-192.168.11.200 range using both PPTP and L2TP, and I'm able to connect to the extranet through the VPN using the standard Mac OS X VPN client in System Preferences, however unsurprisingly, a local address (let's call it internal.company.com) returns nothing. I tried to bypass the limitation of the VPN Server by setting up Routes in the VPN settings. Our company uses 13.x.x.x for all internal traffic, instead of 10.x.x.x, so the routing table looked something like this: IP Address ---------- Subnet Mask ---------- Configuration 0.0.0.0 248.0.0.0 Private 8.0.0.0 252.0.0.0 Private 12.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 Private 13.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 Public 14.0.0.0 254.0.0.0 Private 16.0.0.0 240.0.0.0 Private 32.0.0.0 224.0.0.0 Private 64.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 Private 128.0.0.0 128.0.0.0 Private I was under the impression that if nothing was entered here, all traffic was routed through the VPN. With something entered, only traffic specifically marked to go through the VPN would go through the VPN, and all other traffic would be up to the client to access using its own default connection. This is why I had to specifically mark every subnet except 13.x.x.x as Private. My suspicion is that since I can't reach the VPN server from outside the local subnet, it's not making a connection to the main DNS server and thus can't be reached on the larger network. I'm thinking that entering hostnames like internal.company.com aren't kicked back to the client to resolve, because the server has no idea that the IP address falls in the public range, since I suspect (probably should ping test it but don't have access to it right now) that it can't reach the DNS server to find out anything about that hostname. It seems to me that all my options for resolving this all boil down to the same type of solution: Figure out how to reach the DNS with the secondary connection on the server. I'm thinking that if I'm able to do [something] to get my server to recognize that it should also check my local gateway (let's say Server IP == 13.100.100.50 and Gateway IP == 13.100.100.1). From there Gateway IP can tell me to go find DNS Server at 13.1.1.1 and give me information about my internal network. I'm very confused about this path -- really not sure if I'm even making sense. I thought about trying to do this client side, but that doesn't make sense either, since that would add time to each and every client side setup. Plus, it just seems more logical to solve it on the server - I could either get rid of my routing table altogether or keep it - I think the only difference would be that internal traffic would also go through the server - probably an unnecessary burden on it. Any help out there? Or am I in over my head? Forward proxy or transparent proxy is also an option for me, although I have no idea how to set either of those up. (I know, Google is my friend.)

    I recently encountered a problem that is giving me a headache and I need help ... The System consists of two subsystems, called A and B, each running on a standalone Tomcat instance and currently running on the same machine. A invokes B's service via Spring httpInvoker (i.e. over HTTP). B system also invokes the other system's services via HTTP. Symptoms: the system starts to run and appears to work normally for around 10-15 days; the system will run for a period of time after an exception: org.springframework.remoting.RemoteAccessException: Could not access HTTP invoker remote service at [http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/remoting/call]; The nested exception is java. net.SocketException: **Permission denied: connect** when the exception occurs, the system continues. This happens always, not only occasionally. (It looks like some resources are exhausted, but CPU rate < 5%, memory < 15%, network < 5%). when the system call between A and B fails, the B system call over HTTP to an external service also failed, with the same exception. Restarting both Tomcat services makes the whole system work properly. So repeatedly following steps 1 - 5, I have not found the root reason. Environment: windows 2008 R2 tomcat7.0.42 x86_64 oralce-jdk-1.7.0_40 Any ideas?

In router's port forwarding I did the same thing as for the localhost but only changed port number so that it is the same as the one that is assigned to my application, but this doesn't work.   • What could cause a WMV to not play to completion in a browser?

    A realtor has had videos created for a community she is selling homes for, the people who made the videos gave them to us in WMV format. I can play these videos without any problem in Windows Media Player, VLC, and Quicktime (via Flip4Mac). I can play the videos from their location at videohomeguide.com in my browser without any trouble. However when I upload the files to our server the video stops at about the 1 minute mark in Safari and FireFox on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. I'm not sure if Windows browsers have the same issue because they are loaded using Windows Media Player. http://carolepaul.com/images/uploads/cottageslsjamestown.wmv <- our server, will fail at 1:09ish. http://www.videohomeguide.com/media/cottageslsjamestown.wmv <- should play to completion (3:27ish) The files generate the same MD5 hash on my desktop and on our server. Since the files are identical and are playable using VLC/WMP/Quicktime, and playable in the browsers from videohomeguide.com it seems to me that it is some sort of server config... maybe incorrect headers sent to the browsers?   • Apache proxy is modifying the HTTP status code

    I am using Apache as a proxy frontend for a Java web application, which is deployed on WebSphere. The web application is using custom status codes (55x) to signal specific errors to the clients. When accessing the web application directly through the WebSphere HTTP listener, everything works as expected, but when these requests are proxied through an Apache load balancer, the status codes are modified by Apache and replaced with a generic 500 error code (internal server error). In Apache's access.log, the correct status code is logged: <IP> - - [11/Nov/2011:17:24:53 +0100] "POST <URL> HTTP/1.1" 551 36 But the actual response received by the client starts like this (logged with tcpdump): HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error ... Followed by the real status code in the response content: ... Error 551: Berichteter Fehler: 551 ... Is there an obvious reason for this behaviour or does someone have a suggestion on how to modify the Apache configuration to forward the "real" status code instead of 500?

Up until this past week, I've been using Comcast (cable) as an ISP and now that I've moved into an apartment, I'm using AT&T. (DSL) I've set up dynamic DNS and I can verify it works externally. However, I can't seem to access the public address from within the local network. Is there something DSL does differently from Cable that makes this frustration possible?

    I'm trying to connect to a vSphere cluster using the information from the libvirt documentation. $ virsh -c "vpx://[email protected]/dc1/dc1-cluster-e01/dc1-vsphere-e04/?no_verify=1" Enter root's password for 10.51.4.11: error: internal error HTTP response code 400 for call to 'Login' error: failed to connect to the hypervisor I seem to be able to establish a connection, but it fails with a "HTTP code 400". If I provide the incorrect password it fails with a 'login credentials' error, so it looks like I am getting a connection, but it's failing for another reason. Wireshark is no help as it's all done over SSL/TLS. Any thoughts folks? UPDATE: 15:21 28/02/11 FYI - I'm running libvirt-0.8.3 (the Ubuntu package recompiled with the ESX flag enabled).   • HTTP downloads slow - FTP of same file very fast - Windows 2003

    I am having some issues with download speeds on my site via http, i am averaging around 70kbps downloading a file that is around 70mb. But if i connect to my server via FTP and download the same file on the same computer / connection i am averaging about 300+kbps. I know my server has alot of connections at any one time, probably around 400 connections. My server has a 1gbps connection to the internet so there is plenty of bandwidth available, as proven with the FTP. I have no throttling of any kind enabled in IIS.
