  • How to install debian oldstable from network?

    - by Vi.
I use PXE debian installer and install it from the local network mirror. It only offers to install "squeeze - stable" despite of there are both squeeze and lenny on the mirror. How to force it to install oldstable (lenny)? When I use legacy network-boot installer, it offers both "oldstable - lenny" and "stable - squeeze", but when I use new one it only offers "stable - squeeze". Can the new installer install old Debian?

  • Google Chrome on Mac OS X, full screen option is greyed out, why?

    - by Chris Kimpton
When I first installed Chrome the menu option for "full screen" was enabled and worked, but for the last few months is been greyed out/disabled. Is it just me or perhaps there is a bug which is why its disabled? I tried deleting the installed version and downloading a new copy, to no avail - but perhaps there is a setting in my local preferences that could be disabling it. Thanks in advance, Chris

  • Monitor uSWGI via Nagios: invalid socket

    - by webjay
I'm trying to monitor uSWGI via Nagios, but according to uWSGI I have specified an invalid socket. The socket path I got from the JSON config file which also says chmod-socket: 666 so I have a hunch that the problem is permission based. The socket file is owned by www-data who I don't want to tinker with, so any other ways? uwsgi --socket=/tmp/app.sock --nagios detected binary path: /usr/local/bin/uwsgi UWSGI UNKNOWN: you have specified an invalid socket ls -l /tmp/app.sock srw-rw-rw- 1 www-data www-data 0 2012-10-26 17:00 /tmp/app.sock

  • HTTP caching headers: how should must-revalidate work?

    - by Bobby Jack
Using trac, I'm getting a response with the following header: Cache-control: must-revalidate Moreover, no 'Expires' header is being sent. Our local proxy, however, is caching these responses, so when an edit is made, pages need to be 'hard refreshed' to update. Is the proxy misbehaving? Other headers that might be relevant: Connection Keep-Alive Proxy-Connection Keep-Alive Keep-Alive timeout=15, max=100

  • install software in linux as a non root user

    - by Aki
Hi, What is the best way to install software in a linux machine if you dont have root permissions. I know that we can use few variables like PKG_CONFIG_PATH and switches like --prefix with configure to get a software installed in a local directory, but sometimes when there are recursive dependencies it is becoming tough for me to install all the packages manually. Is there a better automated way? Update: What i meant by recursive dependencies is: to install package A, i should install package B, which in turn requires package C to be installed

  • Best tools for "ssh tail -f" style log file monitoring and analysis

    - by dougnukem
I'm looking for a tool to monitor custom PHP Error logs/Apache and possibly Java logs on remote development servers. I'm not looking for a full production log system like Splunk, but something that's a little more flexible than an ssh terminal doing a "tail -f". Perhaps something that will: * Monitor multiple log files to my local machine for searching/analysis later * Allow "alerts" when certain strings appear in the log * Provide some kind of tabbed/dashboard view of the multiple logs being monitored (in total less than 10 logs).

  • Mercurial browser on Windows 2003 takes several refreshes before displaying repositories

    - by Tim Murphy
When attempt to browse my Mercurial repositories it usually takes several refreshes before the repository list is displayed. The configuration is as follows: Windows Server 2003 (Dedicated machine hosted by http://www.server4you.com/. Site has anonymous password protection with self-signed SSL. Mercurial 1.5.3 Python 2.6.5 Python for Windows 32 extensions 214 py2.6 isapi-wsgi 0.4.2 The repositories are being served via ISAPI using the standard hgwebdir_wspi.py file (copy to follow). Other problems with the repository server: Before doing a clone/push/etc I have to browse the repositories first otherwise hg on my local machine can not locate the site. I have one a repository with a large changeset that after a minute or so throw error "abort: error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". Will be asking another question for this problem. What can I do to start tracking down this problem? hgwebdir_wsgi.py # Configuration file location hgweb_config = r'C:\Public\Mercurial\WebSite\hgweb.config' # Global settings for IIS path translation path_strip = 0 # Strip this many path elements off (when using url rewrite) path_prefix = 0 # This many path elements are prefixes (depends on the # virtual path of the IIS application). import sys # Adjust python path if this is not a system-wide install #sys.path.insert(0, r'c:\path\to\python\lib') # Enable tracing. • How to tell credentials used for a Network Mapping?

    - by shanecourtrille
I have a networking mapping that doesn't appear to work. When I connect to the mapping I get access denied when I try to create a folder. When I created the mapping I told it to login as another account. I have verified that account has the proper rights on the server side of things. How can I verify that my local machine is connecting with the right credentials?

Also, I use Firefox as my primary browser and I am on a proxy server on a Local network.

  • recovering USB printer

    - by shodanex
I have an USB printer, that was discovered and installed properly. At some point, I suppressed it in the printer view of the config panel. If I try to add a new local printer, it says : Only use this option if you don't have an USP printer ( Windows automatically installs USB printer). How can I make windows automatically reinstall the USB printer I accidentally suppressed ? Edit : It is a dell all-in-one 920 printer, and I just tried to download and reinstall dell software.

  • Trying to install Rmagick on Debian

    - by Janak
One of things you need to do to get Rmagick installed apt-get install libmagick9-dev When I try that I get the following errors Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libmagick9-dev: Depends: libjpeg62-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libbz2-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libtiff4-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libwmf-dev (>= 0.2.7-1) but it is not going to be installed Depends: libz-dev Depends: libpng12-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libfreetype6-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libexif-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libdjvulibre-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: librsvg2-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libgraphviz-dev but it is not going to be installed E: Broken packages I don't know what to do to fix this? EDIT 1: I tried sudo apt-get install librmagick-ruby and it worked fine but then I needed to install the fleximage gem gem1.8 install fleximage and I got the following error message Building native extensions. This could take a while...
