• Images Not Rendering on Ubuntu

  Everytime I open Firefox and go to deviantART, the images usually look like this: Rarely they don't, and in Google Chrome they never show up that way. Is it a problem with Firefox or Ubuntu? I've updated my graphics drivers.

• Browser not parsing PAC file properly?

  I have a long PAC file. The browser(s) (IE and Chrome) are configured to use it and it generally does what it says on the tin. I have a domain that continues to go through the proxy although it should be going direct. // Match specific hosts and IPs entered as hosts if (buncha stuff || shExpMatch(host,"(*.newmarketinc.com)") || shExpMatch(host,"(newmarketinc.com)") || buncha stuff ) return "DIRECT"; Pactester shows that anything in the domain should be direct. h:\pacparser\pactester.exe -p h:\pacfile -u http://daas.newmarketinc.com DIRECT But we continue to pass traffic to hosts in this domain via the proxy. Wireshark and Fiddler both show this. How do i figure out how my browser has gotten brain-damage? Traffic to other sites in this stanza does properly go direct, as confirmed by Fiddler and Wireshark.

  I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and trying to use .htaccess on a page with apache2 server on it. I have tried to change require valid-user to require user inb351. Still no luck. I also tried AllowOverride with AuthConfig and AuthConfig Indexes. So I don't know what else to do, and yes every step that I have tried I restarted apache.

• Lighttpd mod_accesslog not logging fastcgi requests

  I have recently installed a lighttpd for serving a python script via mod_fastcgi. Everything works fine except that I don't get the requests handled by mod_fastcgi logged in the access.log file (requests on port 80 are logged though). My lighttpd version is 1.4.28 on a Debian 6.0. I used the same working configuration a Ubuntu server 10.04 with lighttpd 1.4.26 and it worked. • Ubuntu12.04 - launched applications, not staying in same desktop

  My question is why a launched application, if it has loading time like netbeans, eclipse jdeveloper etc. If i go to desktop3 and launch an application and then go to desktop 2 while I wait, then when it has loaded the application will launch in desktop2. Is there anyway to change this? I find it highly annoying since i on startup would like to launch 3-4 big applications, leave my computer while loadingf, and then return. But i cant leave since i have to launch them sequential instead of simultaneous... Help please :-)

• Folder default ACLs not inherited when new file is created

  I'm a bit of a beginner with Unix systems, but I'm running Cygwin on my Windows Server, and I am trying to figure out something related to extended ACLs. I have a directory to which I set the following ACLs: Administrator@MyServer ~ $ setfacl -m d:u:Someuser:r-- somedir Administrator@MyServer ~ $ getfacl somedir/ # file: somedir/ # owner: Administrator # group: None user::rwx group::r-x mask:rwx other:r-x default:user::rwx default:user:Someuser:r-- default:group::r-x default:mask:rwx default:other:r-x As you can see mose of the default ACLs have the x bit. Then when I create a fine in it, it doesn't inherit the ACLs it is supposed to: Administrator@MyServer ~ $ touch somedir/somefile Administrator@MyServer ~ $ getfacl somedir/somefile # file: somedir/somefile # owner: Administrator # group: None user::rw- user:Someuser:r-- group::r-- mask:rwx other:r-- It's basically missing the x bit everywhere. • MySQL Not Turning On

  I have an amazon ec2 instance running on the Amazon Linux AMI and its a micro instance. I wanted to install Django onto my server so I entered these commands wget http://www.mlsite.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/go wget http://www.mlsite.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/django.conf chmod 744 go ./go So after I was done, I ran sudo service httpd restart and sudo service mysqld restart and This is what came up for mysqld: Stopping mysqld: [ OK ] MySQL Daemon failed to start. Starting mysqld: [FAILED] So I deleted the django files /usr/local/python2.6.8/site-packages/django_registration.egg and I tried finding the error and I found out that in my /etc/my.cnf for the socket, it said socket=/var/lock/subsys/mysql.sock so I went to /var/lock/subsys/ and there was no mysql.sock. I tried creating one using vim but it still didn't work. Then I checked the error log and it said Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) So I am pretty much lost right now. I know it has something to do with mysql.sock If you might know a reason why this was caused could you please let me know? I have a wordpress site on my server, so i kind of need MySQL to work. • Mac internal mic not working with Xlite

  I've used xlite for a while now but all of the sudden the internal mic from my mac stopped to work with it. It does call, and you can see the red bar rising but the other person can't hear a thing. The mic does work when using Skype so I think it's a problem with Xlite Things I've already tried: Reconfigure Xlite Reinstall Xlite Install Xlite Beta (After every step I rebooted the macbook) Obviously none of them worked. • WAMP can connect to localhost but not 127.0.0.1

  I'm running WAMP which was working fine the other day. Today I tried connecting to 127.0.0.1 and my browser throws a 404. Both firefox and chrome. My hosts file is correct mapping 127.0.0.1 to localhost. I can telnet to both the IP and localhost port 80 and see a response from apache. When I go to localhost I see the WAMP landing page. I can go to localhost/folder and view the applications just fine. What can be causing the 404's when I go to 127.0.0.1?

  I'm querying a webserver for RequestsTotal and RequestsPerSec: Select * from Win32_PerfRawData_ASPNET_ASPNETApplications The server is a Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 and I'm querying it from my Windows 7 workstation using a C# program. My problem is that both RequestsPerSec and RequestsTotal show the same value. Running perfmon on that server and selecting the counters there shows the correct values.

• USB AutoRun Dialog: Open a webpage option not shown in dialog

  I am attempting to make our webpage open when someone plugs in our USB device. My Problem: When we plug in the USB device the autorun dialog appears but there is never an option to open/run the webpage we have specified. See below pic of the dialog we see. Isn't there meant to be an option that says something like "Open in Internet Explorer" or etc.? What we are hoping to achieve is to have another option below 'Use this drive for backup' that says something like 'Open in Web Browser' or something that will ultimately open our webpage when the users decides to. • Why would e-mail from our own domain not be forwarded to gmail

  To solve a problem with spam on our server we tried to forward e-mail from our dedicated server's mailserver(matrix smtp service) to gmail, but while most e-mails got through e-mail from our own domain all went missing. They weren't in the inbox or spam or anywhere else. We've had to go back to using the old system, which means my boss gets a huge amount of spam. We have a windows 2003 server with iis 6 and the matrix smtp service installed. I've toyed with the idea of installing a mail proxy like ASSP but it looks pretty complicated. We're hosting 20 domains on the server as well as our own which has an online shop whose payment system depends on email. I can't start playing around with complicated solutions when it could have disastrous consequences and I don't know enough to implement them safely. So my question has two parts: Part One: Why can't we forward e-mails from people using the same domain. If our domain was foobar.com then [email protected] can't receive from [email protected], but he can receive from everyone else. Part Two: Is there a really simple server side solution to spam that would work with matrix? For instance popfile?

• Second monitor not detected

  Hi I have two VGA monitors, my GPU is ATI PowerColor 6850 which has two DVI slots, I use adapters for both VGA monitors. If I connect any the two monitors in the first slot it will work right away (along the plugin confirmation sound). And if I connect any of both monitors to the second slot I won't get anything, nor a signal or confirmation sound. I also tried auto detecting via Catalyst Control Center and Windows Desktop Resolution. I have the latest drivers installed. EDIT: I found this on the Spec Description: Display Connectors DL-DVI-I/SL-DVI-D And in NewEgg: 2 x DVI (1 Single Link, 1 Dual Link) Could this have anything to do with my issue?

• Not able to use FTP acount created with pure ftpd

  I made the new user using this command pure-pw useradd droa -u 52007 -g 52009 -d /home/droa/public_html But when i connect using ftp , it says that Login authentication failed. Which other setting i need to use. I also have cpanel where i sued to create accounts. Even i checked the /etc/pureftpd.passwd File as well , but it only had one user which i created. I don't know which ftp does cpanel uses. The documentation of pureftp says that i need to compile with (--with-everything) Is there any way to do that without re-compiling

• Passenger package not found after adding phusion repo Ubuntu 12.04

  I'm trying to install the official Passenger (and Nginx) packages from Phusion on an Ubuntu 12.04.3 server. I have the following in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/passenger: deb https://oss-binaries.phusionpassenger.com/apt/passenger precise main Even after running apt-get update there is no passenger package found by apt. I did verify that the package info appears in /var/lib/apt/lists/oss-binaries.phusionpassenger.com_apt_passenger_dists_precise_main_binary-amd64_Packages but at this point I'm at a loss as to why the package isn't available via apt-get. There are some packages (libapache2-mod-passenger, passenger-docs) that are available. These packages seem to also exist in universe, but apt-cache show lists both locations.

  Hi, I've created a form in a PDF with Adobe Acrobat Pro. When empy, I want to use it as a template which the user opens, fills in, and saves as a copy to preserve the blank state of the template. Here's the trick : I found both ways to make the document read only - the user can't save the form value, only print them make the document writeable, but in this case the document acting as a template can be modified too. • Sonicwall site-to-site can not access remote network

  I have 2 SonicWall devices (tz100) in 2 different geographical locations. They are connected to each other using site-to-site vpn connection and this works just great. Device A network - 192.168.1.0/24 Device B network - 192.168.2.0/24 When I connect to one device, I can access, from my computer, anything on that specific subnet. However, I am unable to view anything, from my computer, on the other network. Is there a setting somewhere that will forward my requests to the other subnet? Example - I VPN into Device A, but would like to get to a server which is on the Device B network (192.168.2.0/24)

• Emacs eshell over SSH not obeying key commands or elisp

  When SSHing to a remote server Eshell doesn't behave very well, e.g: M-x eshell ssh server <tab> *inserts literal tab instead of trying to complete* Hitting <tab>, for instance, inserts a literal tab. Is there no way to get tab completion, lisp interaction (like find-file blah) etc. over SSH? All the documentation I've read says Eshell is "TRAMP-aware", which I assume meant it could deal with this. Am I just wrong in my assumption that it would work over SSH, or is something broken? This is on Emacs 24.0.94 pretest.
