Need url's to be non secure when moving away from a secured link (without hardcoded url's in html)?

I have an asp.net site. It has an order form which is accessible at https://secure.example.com/order.aspx. The links on the site do not include the domain name. So for example the home page is 'default.aspx'. The issue is that if I click on a link like the home page from the secure page, the url becomes https://secure.example.com/default.aspx instead of http://www.example.com/default.aspx. What's a good way to handle this? The scheme should automatically work using any domain name based on where it's launched from. So if the site is launched from 'localhost', moving away from the secured page, the url's should be http://localhost/... The navigation links are in a master page.

Extending appengine's db.Property with caching

I'm looking to implement a property class for appengine, very similar to the existing db.ReferenceProperty. I am implementing my own version because I want some other default return values. My question is, how do I make the property remember its returned value, so that the datastore query is only performed the first time the property is fetched? What I had is below, and it does not work. I read that the Property classes do not belong to the instances, but to the model definition, so I guess that the return value is not cached for each instance, but overwritten on the model every time. Understanding configuration for parallel calling in web app (IIS + MS SQL)

We have an ASP.NET MVC application + IIS 7.5 + SQL Server 2008 R2. We have to load a lot of aggregate counters on the each page. We decided to use ajax and call with javascript for each counter or groups of counters and return them as JSON result. We solve the problem that user doesn't wait for page loading, page loads fast. User waits for counters loading while seeing other page content. But we thought that if we make calls from javascript - our queries will be make async, but we notice, that it is not. All our javascipt calls runs immediately, but action that they invoke are in queue. If we use Async Controller ability - all counters calculating simultaneously, but user has to wait for the longest counter calculating before page loads. The question: We want to understand what is happens if we use ajax and call two or more actions simultaneously. And how can we configuring this. (also in each action we make some queries to sql server)

I have a page with a link. On clicking the link a page opens up in a separate window. This new page has a form. On submitting this form, some operation takes place at the server. The result of which needs to be redirected to the same page. However after the operation on using the following: return new ModelAndView("newUser"); //This view "newUser" actually maps to the popped up window. A similar new window again pops up and the message gets displayed on this new page. How to go about this?

Creating Pages with unique PageMaps

I have a wicket Application that has long lived Pages. I would like each instance of this Page to be created with a unique PageMap for reasons I won't get into here, but when I try to specify a PageMap on the constructor of my Page I end up getting OOM and StackOverflow errors. Here is the code: public <CTOR>() { super(Session.get().newPageMap("" + System.currentTimeMillis())); ... I'm using a custom BookmarkablePageLink (custom in that it does not pass on the current PageMap name to the new Page) to effectively abandon the old Page/PageMap and create a new one with a new PageMap. The errors seem to be coming from page serialization after only two or three pages have been created. Can anyone find issue with this approach?

I am thinking I need a way to choose an object at "random" from a set X { x1, x2....xn } except that instead of all objects being equally likely the probability of an object being selected is defined beforehand.

Python lxml - returns null list

I cannot figure out what is wrong with the XPATH when trying to extract a value from a webpage table. I have a user control that i have registered to an aspx page. Now from the aspx page, i am trying to access one of the registered usercontrol's hiddenfield value in my aspx page using javacript using the below code: tst = document.getElementById('control1$hdnField').value; I looked into the page's trace, and i could see 'control1$hdnField'. Then why i am not getting its value in my aspx page. I have also ensured that the hidden field exits on the user control and has a default value set. Please help.

Let's say I have a page, http://mydomain.com/mypage.html, with a "Back to page" link. This link should take the user back to the page where they came from only if the previous page URL matches one of the following: http://mydomain.com/one.html, http://mydomain.com/two.html, and http://mydomain.com/three.html. Otherwise, it would take the user back to the homepage, http://mydomain.com. I would like the "Back to page" link to also take the user back to the homepage when http://mydomain.com/mypage.html is pasted onto the browser. How can i accomplish this with Javascript. Thanks!

I'm getting into CodeIgniter and trying to figure out the good architecture for my models. What kind of models would you create for the following simple example: list page of blog entries: shows part of the entry data, number of comments blog entry page: shows all the entry data, comment list (with part of the comment data) comment page: shows all the comment data I'm trying to get this right so that it's simple and effective. I don't want to load too much information (from the db) on the pages where I don't need them. E.g. should the same entry model handle both multiple entries as well as a single entry? And how should the comments be loaded? I only need the number of comments on the multiple entries (list) page but some of the comment data on the single entry page. How would you handle this?

So here I have some a setup of kind of CMS. To load the page controller, I have added a condition in routes as below $route[':any'] = "page"; But what it is doing now is, when I try to open admin_panel, it loads the page controller. Say you had the following two constructors: - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title; - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title page:(NSString *)page; The second constructor is no different from the first, except that it sets up the member variable "page". Since it basically has to do the same thing, is there a way to call the first one from the second one to reduce code duplication, or do you have to set up a third method to do the common tasks? DOMNodeInserted or hashchange

I am trying to write a JavaScript script that is "overlayed" on top of a Facebook page. It uses DOMContentLoaded to detect when content is loaded, then adds some extra stuff in. However, because Facebook doesn't actually "reload" the page when going to a new page (it just uses AJAX), the DOMContentLoaded handler doesn't run again, even though there is new stuff to look through. Anyway, to detect the change, I thought about using onhashchange since Facebook used to change the page's hash, but in Firefox 4 (I need to support Firefox 3 and later with this, but no other browsers), Facebook doesn't change the hash anymore and in pre-Firefox 3.6 there is no onhashchange. I thought about using DOMNodeInserted, but would that really slow down the page? (I really can't have any slowdowns in this script.)

Making successive "jQuery.load()"s in nested pages work

The main page ("parent.html") has a link that ajaxloads a page ("page1.html") into a div ("targetdiv") in the main page, like so: parent html: $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page1.html'); This works fine and "page1.html" is loaded into "targetdiv". The "page1.html" also has a link in it that is supposed to ajaxload another page ("page2.html") into "targetdiv" (onto itself), like so: page1.html: (in "targetdiv") $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page2.html'); This does not work; "html(loading)" comes up in "targetdiv" and stays there, "page2.html" is not loaded. The query is: SELECT * FROM `news` ORDER BY `id` LIMIT ($curr_page * 5), ( ($curr_page * 5) + 5 ) Where $curr_page is a php variable which is getting a value from $_GET['page'] I want to make a pagination (5 news on each page), but I don't know why the mysql is returning me extra values. On the first page the result ok: $curr_page = 0 The query would be: SELECT * FROM `news` ORDER BY `id` LIMIT 0, 5 But on the second page, the result from the query is adding extra news, 10 instead of 5. The query on the second page: SELECT * FROM `news` ORDER BY `id` LIMIT 5, 10 Whats wrong? Why the result has 10 values instead of 5? Thank you!

I have a table: id, affiliate Each time somebody clicks a link, a new row is inserted, ID being the ID of the page, and affiliate being the ID of the affiliate. For example: Page ID: 9 Affiliate ID: 1 Page ID: 9 Affiliate ID: 2 Page ID: 9 Affiliate ID: 3 I only have 3 affiliates. I want to select this information, and group them by affiliate, for the ID. I have tried this query: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE id = '9' GROUP BY affiliate It works fine when I do it in php my admin, how do I get the info in PHP? I have tried: $q = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE id = '" . $id . "' GROUP BY affiliate"); $r = mysql_fetch_array($q); When trying to print the data onto the page, I am only getting one result. Do I need to use a foreach/while loop to get all 3? How would I go about doing this? Thank you!

Is this a php memory leak?

I have memory_get_usage() in the footer of my page and with each refresh of the page, I watch it increase by about 100k each time. My page load creates many objects and destroys them when done . My parent objects each have __destruct() which uses unset() with all child objects. Child objects with a reference back to the parent, have __destruct() to unset() these references. Inserting memory_get_usage() before and after processing different parts of my page only tells me how much of the total usage was added due to that part of the script. How do I go about determining what memory is lost and not recycled for garbage collection after the page finishes loading? I have one global $_SESSION var containing objects storing user info, but have verified using strlen(serialize($object)) that this object is not growing in size. I presume that what I am seeing is a memory leak and that php garbage collection should be in effect after the script ends. Any ideas how to debug this?

Debugging HTML & JavaScript with Firebug

I made a JSONP widget. However, when one of the partner sites put it in their page, (1) it doesn't render at all in IE and (2) in other browsers (Firefox & Google Chrome), the HTML of the widget renders incorrectly: the <aside> closes prematurely, before the Financial Aid Glossary. It's something specific to that page because it works fine on this example college resource center page. To fix these two issues, I tried saving the page source to a local file and messing around with the local file and with Firebug, deleting DOM elements and stuff. I even tried fixing the errors that The W3C Markup Validation Service found. But, I still couldn't get it to render correctly. How should I tell them to change their page so that the widget renders correctly? Or, how should I update the widget script I wrote? It occurs to any asp.net page in the application, rendering the entire application unusable until the user gets a new session. The cause of the problem is that the ReportViewer uses session state. When a page retrieves session from any out-of-state session, the session variable of type Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportHierarchy is deserialized from the session storage. The deserialization could cause the object to connect to the report server when the report is no longer available. The solution is simple but not pretty. We need to clean up the session variable when the report viewer page is closed. One way is to add some Javascript to the page to handle the window.onunload event. In the event handler, call a web service to clean up the session variable. The name of the session variable appears to be randomly generated. So we need to loop through the session variable to find a variable of the type Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportHierarchy. Microsoft has implemented pinging between the report viewer and the report server to keep the report alive on the server when the report viewer is up; I hope they will go one step further to take care of this problem.

One of the use cases where we use the SharePoint.DesignFactory.ContentFiles tooling is in building SharePoint Publishing (WCM) solutions for SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010 and Office365. Publishing solutions are often solutions that have one instance, the publishing site (possibly with subsites), that in most cases need to go through DTAP. If you dissect a publishing site, in most case you have the following findings: The publishing site spans a site collection The branding of the site is specified in the root site, because: Master pages live in the root site (/_catalogs/masterpage) Page layouts live in the root site (/_catalogs/masterpage) The style library lives in the root site ( /Style Library) and contains images, css, javascript, xslt transformations for your CQWP’s, … Preconfigured web parts live in the root site (/_catalogs/wp) The root site and subsites contains a document library called Pages (or your language-specific version of it) containing publishing pages using the page layouts and master pages The site collection contains content types, fields and lists When using the SharePoint.DesignFactory.ContentFiles tooling it is very easy to create, test, package and deploy the artifacts that can be uploaded to the SharePoint content database. This can be done in a fast and simple way without the need to create and deploy WSP packages. If we look at the above list of artifacts we can use SharePoint.DesignFactory.ContentFiles for master pages, page layouts, the style library, web part configurations, and initial publishing pages (these are normally made through the SharePoint web UI). Some artifacts like content types, fields and lists in the above list can NOT be handled by SharePoint.DesignFactory.ContentFiles, because they can’t be uploaded to the SharePoint content database. The good thing is that these artifacts are the artifacts that don’t change that much in the development of a SharePoint Publishing solution. There are however multiple ways to create these artifacts: Use paper script: create them manually in each of the environments based on documentation Automate the creation of the artifacts using (PowerShell) script Develop a WSP package to create these artifacts I’m not a big fan of the third option (see my blog post Thoughts on building deployable and updatable SharePoint solutions). It is a lot of work to create content types, fields and list definitions using all kind of XML files, and it is not allowed to modify these artifacts when in use. I know… SharePoint 2010 has some content type upgrade possibilities, but I think it is just too cumbersome. The first option has the problem that content types and fields get ID’s, and that these ID’s must be used by the metadata on for example page layouts. No problem for SharePoint.DesignFactory.ContentFiles, because it supports deploy-time resolving of these ID’s using PowerShell. For example consider the following metadata definition for the page layout contactpage-wcm.aspx.properties.ps1: Metadata page layout # This script must return a hashtable @{ name=value; ... } of field name-value pairs # for the content file that this script applies to. # On deployment to SharePoint, these values are written as fields in the corresponding list item (if any) # Note that fields must exist; they can be updated but not created or deleted. # This script is called right after the file is deployed to SharePoint. # You can use the script parameters and arbitrary PowerShell code to interact with SharePoint. # e.g. to calculate properties and values at deployment time. param([string]$SourcePath, [string]$RelativeUrl, $Context) @{ "ContentTypeId" = $Context.GetContentTypeID('GeneralPage'); "MasterPageDescription" = "Cloud Aviator Contact pagelayout (wcm - don't use)"; "PublishingHidden" = "1"; "PublishingAssociatedContentType" = $Context.GetAssociatedContentTypeInfo('GeneralPage') } The PowerShell functions GetContentTypeID and GetAssociatedContentTypeInfo can at deploy-time resolve the required information from the server we are deploying to. I personally prefer the second option: automate creation through PowerShell, because there are PowerShell scripts available to export content types and fields. An example project structure for a typical SharePoint WCM site looks like: Note that this project uses DualLayout. ASP.NET Server-side comments

I believe a good number of you know about Server-side commenting. This blog is just like a revival to refresh your memories. With server-side comments, the compiler ignores everything inside this block. Visual Studio’s Text Editor toolbar also puts comments as server-side ones. If you want to give it a shot, go to your design page and press Ctrl+K, Ctrl+C on some selected text and you’ll see it commented in the server-side commenting style.

Experience the iPad UI On Your PC

Want to test drive iPad without heading over to an Apple store? Here’s a way you can experience some of the iPad UI straight from your browser! The iPad is the latest gadget from Apple to wow the tech world, and people even waited in line all night to be one of the first to get their hands on one. Thanks to a simple JavaScript trick, however, you can get a feel for some of its new features without leaving your computer. This won’t let you try out everything on the iPad, but it will let you see how the new lists and pop-over menus work just like they do in the new apps. Test drive the iPad’s UI from your browser Normally, the Apple iPhone developer library online looks like a standard webpage. But, on the iPad, it looks and feels like a full-blown native iPad app. With a nifty JavaScript trick from boredzo.org you can use this same interface on your PC. Since the iPad uses the Safari browser, we ran this test in Safari for Windows. If you don’t already have it installed, you can download it from Apple (link below) and setup as normal. Now, open Safari and browse to Apple’s developer page at: http://www.developer.apple.com Now, enter the following in the address bar, and press Enter. javascript:localStorage.setItem('debugSawtooth', 'true') Finally, click this link to go to the iPhone OS documentation. http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/iPad/ After a short delay, it should open in full iPad style! The left menu works just like the menus on the iPad, complete with transitions. It feels entirely like a native application, instead of a webpage. To scroll through text, click and pull up or down similar to the way you would use it on a touch screen. Some pages even include a pop-over menu like many of the new iPad apps use. Note that the page will be rendered for the size of your browser, and if you resize your window the page will not resize with it. Simply press F5 to reload the page, and it will resize to fit the new window size. If you resize your window to be tall and narrow, like the iPad in horizontal mode, the webpage will change and the left menu will disappear in lieu of a drop-down menu just like it would if you rotated the iPad. This works in Chrome as well, since it, like Safari, is based on Webkit. However, it didn’t seem to work in our test on Firefox or other browsers.
