  • CherryPy and RESTful web api

    - by hyperboreean
What's the best approach of creating a RESTful web api in CherryPy? I've been looking around for a few days now and nothing seems great. For Django it seems that are lots of tools to do this, but not for CherryPy or I am not aware of them

  • How to access SharePoint web part properties?

    - by shannon.stewart
I have created a feature for SharePoint 2007 that has a web part. I have added a custom property to the web part like so: [Personalizable(PersonalizationScope.Shared)] [WebBrowsable(true)] [Category("My Custom Properties")] [WebDisplayName("ServiceURL")] [WebDescription("The URL for the Wcf service")] public string ServiceURL { get; set; } Along with this web part, I've added a custom page that the web part will have a link to. I would like to reference the web part property from the custom page, but I don't know where these properties are stored. I've tried to access it using the code below, but both property collections don't have any properties stored. SPFeaturePropertyCollection spProperties = SPContext.Current.Site.Features[this.FeatureGuid].Properties; or SPFeaturePropertyCollection spProperties = SPContext.Current.Site.Features[this.FeatureGuid].Definition.Properties; My question is how can I get a reference to the web part property from other pages?

  • Java Http request on api.stackexchange with json response

    - by taoder
I'm trying to use the api-stackexchange with java but when I do the request and try to parse the response with a json parser I have an error. public ArrayList<Question> readJsonStream(InputStream in) throws IOException { JsonReader reader = new JsonReader(new InputStreamReader(in, "UTF-8")); reader.setLenient(true); try { System.out.println(reader.nextString()); // ? special character return readItem(reader); } finally { reader.close(); } } public ArrayList<Question> readItem(JsonReader reader) throws IOException { ArrayList<Question> questions = new ArrayList<Question>(); reader.beginObject(); while (reader.hasNext()) { System.out.println("here");//not print the error is before String name = reader.nextName(); if (name.equals("items")) { questions = readQuestionsArray(reader); } } reader.endObject(); return questions; } public final static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { URIBuilder builder = new URIBuilder(); builder.setScheme("http").setHost("api.stackexchange.com").setPath("/2.0/search") .setParameter("site", "stackoverflow") .setParameter("intitle" ,"workaround") .setParameter("tagged","javascript"); URI uri = builder.build(); String surl = fixEncoding(uri.toString()+"&filter=!)QWRa9I-CAn0PqgUwq7)DVTM"); System.out.println(surl); Test t = new Test(); try { URL url = new URL(surl); t.readJsonStream(url.openStream()); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } And the error is: com.google.gson.stream.MalformedJsonException: Expected literal value at line 1 column 19 Here is an example of the Json : { "items": [ { "question_id": 10842231, "score": 0, "title": "How to push oath token to LocalStorage or LocalSession and listen to the Storage Event? • How to send a array as a parameter to a web service using SOAP and objective C.

    - by Alejandra Meraz
    I'm working in a iPhone app that needs to send a array as a parameter using SOAP. this is the current request and connection: NSString *soapMessage = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>\n" "<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:xsd=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema\" xmlns:soap=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\">\n" "<soap:Body>\n" "<function xmlns=\"http://tempuri.org/\" />\n" "</soap:Body>\n" "</soap:Envelope>\n"]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://myHost.com/myWebService/service.asmx"]; //the url to the WSDL NsMutableURLRequest theRequest = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:url]; NSString *msgLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",[soapMessage length]]; [theRequest addValue:@"text/xml; charset=utf-8" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [theRequest addValue:msgLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Lenght"]; [theRequest setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [theRequest addValue:@"myhost.com" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Host"]; [theRequest addValue:@"http://tempuri.org/function" forHTTPHeaderField:@"SOAPAction"]; [theRequest setHTTPBody:[soapMessage dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; Now, to send parameters I looked at the WSDL of the function description for the input is like this: <s:complexType name="ArrayOfDictionaryEntry"> <s:sequence> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" name="DictionaryEntry" type="tns:DictionaryEntry" /> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> <s:complexType name="DictionaryEntry"> <s:sequence> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="Key" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="Value" /> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> <s:element name="functionInput"> <s:complexType /> </s:element> I guess then that I need to make a array of dictionary entries. what I would like to send is something like this [ location => USA, module => DEVELOPMENT] But I'm kind of confused. the array is created outside the SOAP, like an NSArray or inside the SoapMessage? if so... How is it done? and the DictionaryEntry, should I make a class? thanks for your time n.n

  • Business Objects: Refresh Data problem with .NET API

    - by jlrolin
I'm currently using the BO API for .NET to connect to our reports database. In .NET, I'm getting the following error: Your security profile does not include permission to refresh Web Intelligence documents. (WIS 30253) Interestingly enough, I can log into BO, and I can refresh the data and grab prompts as I'm logged in. From .NET, with the same username and password, I can't seem to do so. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

  • vim adding new function names for project's API

    - by Flavius
Hi How can I add new function names for .c and .h files to be highlighted, similar to this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2464593/custumizing-syntax-highlighting-in-vim but much easier? (as I don't need to color words in different colors, only in the default color for keywords as defined by my theme). I need this to add highlighting for function names in a project written in C which has a clearly defined API. Thanks

  • Exposing APIs - third party or homegrown?

    - by amelvin
Parts of the project I'm currently working on (I can't give details) will be exposed as an API at some point over the next few months and I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a third party API 'provider' (possibly Mashery or SO advertiser Webservius). And I mean recommend in the 'I've used these people and they are good' sense because although I can google for an answer to this question it is more difficult to get truly unbiased opinions. As an addendum is there much mileage in creating a bespoke API solution and has anyone had any joy going down that road? Thanks in anticipation.

I'm ok with saying ok for the first time but not every 300s :)

  • Javascript and the Google Maps API

    - by Tiny Giant Studios
Hiya coding Ninja's I'm in a spot of bother and my hairline is on the chopping block. When I integrated the maps API on this site, ritaknoetze.com, everything worked perfectly. However, copying that exact code for a different demo website, scarabpaper, the map doesn't show up at all? Could someone show me the ropes on what I'm doing wrong? Here's the code I got from Google itself that I modified for my WordPress theme/installation: JavaScript: <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function initialize() { var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(-34.009839, 22.78101); var myOptions = { zoom: 9, center: myLatlng, navigationControl: true, mapTypeControl: false, scaleControl: false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP } var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); var image = '<?php bloginfo('template_url')?>/assets/googlemaps_marker.png'; var myLatLng = new google.maps.LatLng(-34.009839, 22.78101); var beachMarker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: myLatLng, map: map, icon: image }); } </script> My HTML where the javascript goes: <div class="contact_container"> <div id="map_canvas"></div> <div class="clearfloat"></div> </div> My CSS for the affected divs #map_canvas { width: 880px; height: 300px; margin-left: 10px; margin-bottom: 30px; margin-top: 10px; float: left; border: 1px solid #dedcdc;} .contact_container { /*container for ALL the contact info*/ background-color: #fff; border: 1px solid #dedcdc; width: 900px; margin-top: 30px; padding: 20px; padding-bottom: 0;} Any Help would be greatly appreciated...

  • Web-app currency input/manipulation/calculation with javascript .. there has got to be a better (fra

    - by dreftymac
BACKGROUND: I am of the "user-input-lockdown" school of thought. Whenever possible, I try to mistrust and sanitize user input, both client side and server side; and I try to take multiple opportunities to restrict possible inputs to a known subset of possibilities, usually this means providing a lot of checkboxes and select lists. (This is from the usability side of things, I know security-wise that malicious users can easily bypass fixed user input GUI controls). PROBLEM: Anyway, the problem always arises with non-fixed input of currency. Whenever I have to accept a freely-specified dollar amount as user input, I always have to confront these problems/annoyances and it is always painful: 1) Make sure to give the user two input boxes for each currency_datapoint, one for the whole_dollar_part and another for the fractional_pennies_part 2) Whenever the user changes a currency_datapoint, provide keystroke-by-keystroke GUI feedback to let them know whether the currency_datapoint is well-formed, with context-appropriate validation rules (e.g., no negatives?, nonzero only?, numeric only!, no non-numeric punctuation! no symbols!) 3) For display purposes, every user-provided currency_datapoint should be translated to human-readable currency formatting (dollar sign, period, commas provided by the app, where appropriate) 4) For calculation purposes, every user-provided currency_datapoint has to be converted to integer (all pennies, to avoid floating point errors) and summed into a grand total with zero or more subtotals. 5) Every user-provided currency_datapoint should be displayed or displayable in a nice "tabular" format, which auto-updates as the user enters each currency_datapoint, including a baloon that warns when one or more currency_datapoints is not well-formed. I seem to be re-inventing this wheel every time I have to work with currency in Javascript on the client side (server side is a bit more flexible since most programming languages have higher-level currency formatting logic). QUESTION: Has anyone out there solved the problem of dealing with the above issues, client side, in a way that is server-side-technology-stack agnostic, (preferrably plain javascript or jquery)? This is getting old, there has to be a better way.

  • API to Rank blog articles

    - by mnml
I would like to know if there is any easy way to rank blog articles by counting how many times they have been retweeted / digg'ed / buzz'ed and if there is an existing api for it. The idea would be to keep important 'stories' at the top of the blog timeline.

  • How can I have a web link perform an action in a specific desktop application?

    - by John
The specific situation is I have a .zip file that I want to open with a certain application. However, I don't want all ZIP files associated with that application. I think the answer is that instead of saying, "download this zip file, and open it with application X" I could have the browser basically go well my desktop application to go fetch it on its own (the same way directives like itunes: mailto: or aim: do things like launch the itunes store, add buddies, etc). Thoughts?

  • Create and Call an ASP.NET Asynchronous Web Service and call it from JavaScript

    - by nickyt
Environment: ASP.NET web applicaition jQuery, ASP.NET AJAX Currently using ASP.NET Web Services The title says it all. One, how do i create an ASP.NET web service that is asynchronous? I've seen many articles, that show example with IAsyncResult and BeginMyWebServiceMethod and EndMyWebServiceMethod, some using ThreadPool etc. I would just like to know what is the simplest way to make an asynchronous web service method call (ideally without having to implement other classes, if possible). To me it should be as simple as adding an attribute to the method (but I think that is wishful thinking), e.g. public SomeWebService : WebService { [Asynchronous] public static bool SomeCheck() { // code } } I'm open to using WCF if that makes it easier (we converted to ASP.NET 3.5 around Christmas time). Once I have the asynchronous web service created, what is the best way to call it from client-side script? Via jQuery's $ajax or ASP.NET's auto generated class for a web service that is script method?
