  • Why load increase ,ssd iops increase but cpu iowait decrease?

    There is a strange thing on my server which has a mysql running on it. The QPS is more than 4000 but TPS is less than 20. The server load is more than 80 and cpu usr is more than 86% but iowait is less than 8%. The disk iops is more than 16000 and util of disk is more than 99%. When the QPS decreases, the load decreases, the cpu iowait increases.   • Adding UIViewController.view to another view causes orientation problems

    Short version: I'm alloc/init/retaining a new UIViewController in one UIViewControllers viewDidLoad method, adding the new View to self.view. This usually works, but it seems to mess up orientation change handling of my iPad app. Longer version: I'm building a fairly complex iPad application, involving a lot of views and viewcontrollers. After running into some difficulties adjusting to the device orientation, I made a simple XCode project to figure out what the problem is. Firstly, I have read the Apple Docs on this subject (a small document called "Why won't my UIViewController rotate with the device?"), and while I do believe it has something to do with one of the reasons listed there, I'm not really sure how to fix it. In my test project I have an appDelegate, a rootViewController, and a UISplitViewController with two custom viewControllers. I use a button on the rootViewController to switch to the splitViewController, and from there I can use a button to switch back to the rootViewController. So far everything is great, i.e. all views adjust to the device orientation. However, in the right viewController of the splitViewController, I use the viewDidLoad method to initialize some other viewControllers, and add their views to its own view: self.newViewController = [[UIViewController new] autorelease]; [newViewController.view setBackgroundColor:[UIColor yellowColor]]; [self.view addSubview:newViewController.view]; This is where things go wrong. Somehow, after adding this view, adjusting to device orientation is messy. On startup everything is fine, after I switch to the splitViewController everything is still fine, but as soon as I switch back to the rootViewController it's all over. I have tried (almost) everything regarding retaining and releasing the viewcontroller, but nothing seems to fix it. As you can see from the code above, I have declared the newViewController as a property, but the same happens if I don't. Shouldn't I be adding a ViewController's view to my own view at all? That would really mess up my project, as I have a lot of viewControllers doing all sorts of things. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

  • WinForms Menu Toolstrip Get Status

    So I have a project where there is some automatic initialization going on through some classes that are created automatically as global variables (yeah they are static instances). At a point inside this (it has no relation with the C# GUI for the user, so it isn't derived from any C# class) I need to see if a flag is set or not. I use toolstrip menu with checked and unchecked status in order to set or unset the flag. The problem is that I have difficulties to see if the flag is checked or not from this static class. My class is inside a different project/namespace and a DLL is created what later is linked to the GUI of the application. The GUI depends from this Manager class so making the Manager class to depend from the GUI is not an option. Nevertheless, I should be able to see its state knowing its name or through some other means.   • How to capture live camera frames in RGB with DirectShow

    I'm implementing live video capture through DirectShow for live processing and display. (Augmented Reality app). I can access the pixels easily enough, but it seems I can't get the SampleGrabber to provide RGB data. The device (an iSight -- running VC++ Express in VMWare) only reports MEDIASUBTYPE_YUY2. After extensive Googling, I still can't figure out whether DirectShow is supposed to provide built-in color space conversion for this sort of thing. Some sites report that there is no YUV<-RGB conversion built in, others report that you just have to call SetMediaType on your ISampleGrabber with an RGB subtype. Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm going nuts on this one. Code provided below. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131402)". Let's say I'm trying to load this assembly on a child AppDomain, how can I customize the AppDomain's security to allow me pass the policy check?

    Is there a way to determine what kind of data plan a device has so an app provides a less rich experience if a data plan is not available? I imagine the connector factory would still be able to return me an HTTPConnection but it would cost the user serious money for lots of data, and I'd like to be nice and prevent that. I thought there would be a way to query device capabilities in the MIDP API, but maybe it's in CLDC?

    Hi everyone! I am trying to load external SWFs in my Adobe AIR App. The loaded SWF is trying to access an URL to retrieve some informations via XML. When starting the SWF by itself it works fine. When loading the SWF from the File.applicationStorageDirectory i will get an Security-Error because the loaded App is executed in a local-with-filesystem Sandbox appareantly. First Question: Is there a way to change this? That the loaded SWF is running in a network Sandbox? Since that first attempt didn't worked i've moved the SWF to the app:// directory. Now i'll get a Security-Error because there is no policy file on the Server available where the XML data should be retrieved. Second Question: Why is the policy file not necessary when running the SWF by itself, but is necessary when trying to load the data from the application Sandbox? What am i doing wrong? I have server appliaction on may computer(Win Form application) and client applucation as web site(Silverlight application). I use policy server which open port 943. Everything works fine on this application. But now I need to write another client-server application. Server for that application olso use port 943 for policy connection. When I try to run this 2 server applications on the same compyeter an excepten is thrown which says that only one application can work on port 943. How can I solve this problem? Thanks.

  • Determine the 'Overtype' mode using Javascript

    We are creating a web app to replace an old-school green-screen application. In the green-screen app, as the user presses the Insert key to switch between overtype and insert modes, the cursor changes to indicate which input mode the user is currently in. In IE (which is the official browser of the company), overtype mode also works, but there's no visual indication as to whether overtype mode is on or not, until the user starts typing and possibly over-writes existing information unexpectedly. I'd like to put some sort of visual indicator on the screen if in overtype mode. How can you determine if the browser is in 'overtype mode' from Javascript? Is there some property or function i can query to determine if the browser is in overtype mode? Even an IE-specific solution would be helpful, since our corporate policy dictates the browser to use as IE7 (pure torture, btw). (I do know that one solution is to do check for key presses of the Insert key. However, it's a solution that I'd prefer to avoid since that method seems a bit flaky & error-prone because I can't guarantee what mode the user would be in BEFORE he/she hits my page. ) The reasoning behind this question: The functionality of this portion of the green-screen app is such that the user can select from a list of 'preformatted bodies of text'. crude eg. The excess for this policy is: $xxxxxx and max limit is:$xxxxxx Date of policy is: xx/xx/xxxx and expires : xx/xx/xxxx Some other irrelevant text After selecting this 'preformatted text', the user would then use overtype to replace the x's with actual values, without disturbing the alignment of the rest of the text. (To be clear, they can still edit any part of the 'preformatted text' if they so wished. It's just that usually, they just wish to replace specific portions of the text. Keeping the alignment is important since these sections of text can end up on printed documents.) Of course, the same effect can be achieved by just selecting the x's to replace first, but it would be helpful (with respect to easing the transition to the web app) to allow old methods of doing things to continue to work, while still allowing 'web methods' to be used by the more tech-savvy users. Essentially, we're trying to make the initial transition from the green-screen app to the web app be as seemless as possible to minimise the resistance from the long-time green-screeners.

    Hi, I m opening a HttpConnection to a URL. Its working in simulator but when i try it in device, it gives "java.io.IOException: Bad DNS address" while opening the HttpConnection. I serached the forums but havent got the solution yet. That URL is opening in Blackberry device Internet Browser but not getting the HttpConnection (HttpConnection is coming NULL) when i try through my code.
