  • How to get Atheros ar242x wireless adapter working under Debian Linux?

    Does anybody know how to get the Atheros ar242x wireless adapter working under Debian Linux (5.0.2 and/or 5.0.3)? My Debian live CDs and install CDs both don't like this card at all. Curisouly, it seems to work on other, Debian-based, Linuxes. Is this a free/non-free Driver issue? I know Debian gets mardy about that. Although for what it's worth, the Live CD doesn't seem to detect my wired LAN connection either... Specifically this is on a Samsung R610 laptop (some version of which seem to have an intel wireless adapter - this one definitely doesn't!) I've tried all sorts of things but obviously on a live CD installing software is limited. I've also tinkerering with network config files and kernel modules etc but to no avail.

  • Scaling up an apache server

    I have an Ubuntu server running apache2 which i expect to be hit by around 500-1000 (concurent) users for a limited amount of time. The server serves a mixture of custom (rather light) php pages connected to a postgresql db (around 20 Mb in size) and static content. The hardware is stable and pretty beefy: Intel Xeon E5420 @ 2.5 GHz 12 GB RAM During previous rushes on this server I have increased ServerLimit, the MaxClients for the MPM modules and decreased Timeout and KeepAliveTimeout. It has worked, but been sluggish and I have a feeling more can be done. How would you suggest configuring the Apache server to handle this kind of load?

The url send to nginx by the app is valid, it works in the browser. And nginx is sending a request to s3.

    I am new to distutils.. I am trying to include few data files along with the package.. here is my code.. from distutils.core import setup setup(name='Scrapper', version='1.0', description='Scrapper', packages=['app', 'db', 'model', 'util'], data_files=[('app', ['app/scrapper.db'])] ) The zip file created after executing python setup.py sdist does not include the scrapper.db file. I have scrapper.db file in the app directory.. thanks for the help.

  • Secondary Monitor won't Display at Full Resolution with Primary Display Disconnected

    I have had a bad day. Among today's events, the LCD display on my Dell E6500 notebook failed. It had been working with a secondary monitor connected through a VGA cable at 1600x900 resolution until I removed the LCD from my notebook for repair. Now the max resolution available on the secondary display is 1024x768. If I reconnect the burned out primary display, the secondary monitor is again available at 1600x900. The video card is an onboard Mobil Intel 4. How can I maintain the secondary display at 1600x900 with the primary display disconnected (for repair)? Edit: I just noticed that when Windows boots, it displays at the correct resolution and I can see my desktop in all its glory for a couple seconds then reverts to 1024x768.

    Is there any freeware out there that will allow me to run the desktop that is larger than the resolution of the screen? My situation: Win XP, Dell Mini 10, iirc- Intel GMA950 I need to use a netbook for one specific web site (with firefox) that doesn't render properly if the screen isn't at least 1024x768. It is a netbook, so the res is 1024x600. Is there anything out there that will allow me to use a 1024x768 desktop on this smaller screen WITHOUT shrinking the desktop to fit. I want to pan around.     VMware Fusion v3.0.1 One vm for Windows XP, converted and recently expanded the disk size. Mac OS X 10.5.8, 2 x 3 GHz dual-core intel xeon machine. Immediately after booting, and before VMware Fusion is launched, the Activity Monitor shows eight processes associated with "vm". What caught my eye is the duplicates: netifup and dhcpd. I noticed this while trying to re-establish network connectivity after the upgrade to 3.0.1. I am not sure when the network connection was clobbered, so I cannot say it happend during the upgrade. Is eight processes typcial? I expect about six, as listed in other notes and documents on the web site. Could this be related to the failure to connect to the network?

    well i hope this stackexchange site is the right for my issue. I've an Oracle VirtualBox running on some acer pc Settings for the Acer PC: Windows 7 SP1 64bit Intel G630 @ 2.7Ghz 2GB RAM i used a .vhd image which contains a windows 2000 system with some preconfigured stuff and software for a customer. At the Windows boot time immediately after the "Loading Windows 2000..." - Screen i get the following Error: Sorry for the German Text but it say's something like "Check the Size of your HDD. If the error contains a driver, deactivate it and try again. Or change the graficcard" The HDD Size shouldn't be a problem in my honest opinion. Can anyone give me an adivce what i can try to do? I just tested the same combination of the .vhd image and oracle virtualbox on another computer. Same issue. Greetings

  • Full HD video playback acceleration with mplayer on Ubuntu Lucid

    I know that for an NVidia card I can sudo apt-get install nvidia-current mplayer, reboot, and then use mplayer -vo vdpau -vc ffmpeg12vdpau,ffwmv3vdpau,ffvc1vdpau,ffh264vdpau FILE.mkv to get accelerated video playback of H.264 and other codecs, so even full HD videos can be played back with only little CPU. (And there are many other options, e.g. XBMC also supports VDPAU.) But how do I get accelerated video playback if I have a recent ATI or Intel video card on Ubuntu Lucid? How do I figure out if my video card has acceleration built in? The solution has to work with mplayer or mplayer2. It's OK for me to recompile mplayer(2), but I'd prefer installing both the kernel and the X.org X server from a binary package repository.

  • Why is cpu power management not working in Server 2012 with Hyper-V?

    We've been using Server2008R2 with Hyper-V for a couple of years now and chose it at the time because of its ability to make use of Intel SpeedStep and AMD PowerNow! Now with Server 2012 and Hyper-V V3, all power management abilities seem to be gone. The CPUs are always at full speed and our servers need twice the energy as before while idling. (Yes, the CPU P-states are enabled in the BIOS) Is this by design? Is there a workaround to enable cpu power management again? Despite the great new features of Hyper-V 3, this would be a show-stopper for us since we are very concerned about energy consumption.

  • Virtualizing OpenSolaris with physical disks

    I currently have a OpenSolaris installation with a ~1Tb RaidZ volume made up of 3 500Gb hard drives. This is on commodity hardware (ASUS NVIDIA based board on Intel Core 2). I'm wondering whether anyone knows if XenServer or Oracle VM can be used to install 2009.06 and get given physical access to the three SATA drives so that I can continue to use the zpool and be able to use the Xen bits for other areas. I'm thinking of installing the JeOS version of OpenSolaris, have it manage just my ZFS volume and some other stuff for work(4GB), then have a Windows(2GB) and Linux(1GB) VM (theres 8Gb RAM on that box) virtualised for testing things. Currently I am using VirtualBox installed on OpenSolaris for the Windows and Linux testing but wondered if the above was a better alternative. Essentially, 3 Disks - OpenSolaris Guest VM, it loads the zpool and offers it to the other VMs via CIFS.

  • MS Access MSChart.Graph.8 not printing

    Software: Microsoft Access 2007 SP2 Database File Version: Access 2000 I have an access program that I inherited from a previous employee. It uses forms for reports and since I don't have much experience in access I have continued to do this. I have created a copy of the program for another project and modified it to suit. I am having trouble getting more then one chart to print. All the charts display in form view, they all have the same properties (excepting data, position, etc.) For some reason they are not printing. They don't even show up in the print preview. I am thinking it must be something with the graphs themselves as they sometimes lose all information. I have to open the graphs in edit mode and change the data source from column to row and back again so that it gets redrawn. (Refresh doesn't fix it) So right now I don't even have a clue as to where to look so ideas are welcome. Edit #1 It seems to be a problem with linking to an unbound form. Subform Field Linker: Can't build a link between unbound forms. Is there anything in printing that changes the context of records with respect to parent/child relationships?

  • Creating a vm using Hyper-V causes the host of BSOD

    Hi, Problem description: When I try to create a virtual machine, the host bsod part way through the process. From the logs in lookes to fail/hang on the "Creating new VirtualDisckDriver with new VHD" step. The BSOD error code is SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION : STOP:0x0000003B When the machine has finished restarting, it looks to have created the vhd and XML files for the vm but it isn't accessable. I have two server bothing behaving in exactly the same way, so I don't believe it's a hardware fault. Has anyone had a similar experince? How did you resolve the problem?   • VirtualBox won't use any kind of hardware acceleration

    I see an problem with VirtualBox hardware acceleration functionality... My system configuration: MSI PH67A-C43 (B3) (BIOS: 2.70) Intel Core i5-2400 Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit Oracle VirtualBox 4.1.10 Oracle VirtualBox Extension Pack 4.1.10 I can select the individual acceleration options such as PAE/NX, VT-x/VMD-V or Nested Paging within VM-Settings but if I start the VM the accelerations will be disabled as of the tooltip from CPU (right next to shared folders). Each acceleration is "Disabled". Does this sounds familar to anybody? How can I solve this?

  • Please help with iPhone Memory & Images, memory usage crashing app

    I have an issue with memory usage relating to images and I've searched the docs and watched the videos from cs193p and the iphone dev site on memory mgmt and performance. I've searched online and posted on forums, but I still can't figure it out. The app uses core data and simply lets the user associate text with a picture and stores the list of items in a table view that lets you add and delete items. Clicking on a row shows the image and related text. that's it. Everything runs fine on the simulator and on the device as well. I ran the analyzer and it looked good, so i then starting looking at performance. I ran leaks and everything looked good. My issue is when running Object Allocations as every time i select a row and the view with the image is shown, the live bytes jumps up a few MB and never goes down and my app eventually crashes due to memory usage. Sorting the live bytes column, i see 2 2.72MB mallocs (5.45Mb total), 14 CFDatas (3.58MB total), 1 2.74MB malloc and everything else is real small. the problem is all the related info in instruments is really technical and all the problem solving examples i've seen are just missing a release and nothing complicated. Instruments shows Core Data as the responsible library for all but one (libsqlite3.dylib the other) with [NSSQLCore _prepareResultsFromResultSet:usingFetchPlan:withMatchingRows:] as the caller for all but one (fetchResultSetReallocCurrentRow the other) and im just not sure how to track down what the problem is. i've looked at the stack traces and opened the last instance of my code and found 2 culprits (below).   • VGA no signal on LCD monitor attached to laptop

    I bought a new Asus vh242h LCD monitor for use with my lenevo T60 laptop running XP professional. Display info under control panel says "Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family". I am connecting via VGA. When I connect the monitor I get "VGA no signal" and the monitor screen stays blank. I have selected the monitor as the display device on the laptop. The information on the monitor displays the correct screen resolution from the laptop, so the monitor is communicating in some way with the laptop. I've successfully tried the monitor with my Dell inspirion 1525 running Windows Vista. I've change the VGA cable to one I know works. Tried different resolutions. I cannot find and specific drivers on the internet for this monitor, so I assume it should work with Plug and Play. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

  • Can't get any SMART or temperature data from HDDs

    I have a PC with recently installed Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 MB. I've encountered some weird problem with getting SMART data or temperature for HDDs. Every single tool I've tried in Windows 7 just can't get any data (HDTune, AIDA64...). I was suspecting that SMART feature is disabled in BIOS but it's seems like there is no such option in BIOS settings. I've even tried to update BIOS but still no luck. Same issue with both controllers on that MB (Intel and Marvell). It seems unlikely that both controllers end up with exact same issue. Both controllers are working in AHCI mode. Is there anythig that can interfere with getting SMART ant temp data from HDDs? Or is there any way to check that it's actuall MB issue? Is it even possible that it is hardware issue since all HDDs seems to work normal despite the fact that I can't get any temperature or SMART data from it.
