• How to add deploy.jar to classpath?

  I am facing the problem: I need to add ${java.home}/lib/deploy.jar JAR file to classpath in the runtime (dynamically from java). The solution with Thread#setContextClassLoader(ClassLoader) (mentioned here) does not work because of this bug (if somebody can explain what is really a problem – you are welcome). The solution with -Xbootclasspath/a:"%JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/deploy.jar" does not work well for me, because I want to have "pure executable jar" as a deliverable: no wrapping scripts please (more over %JAVA_HOME% may not be defined in user's environment in Windows for example, plus I need to write a script per platform) The solution with merging deploy.jar file into my deliverable works only if I make a build on Windows platform. Unfortunately, when the deliverable is produced on build server running on Linux, I got Linux-dependant JAR, which does not execute on Windows – it fails with the trace below. I have read How the Java Launcher Finds Classes and Java programming dynamics: Java classes and class loading articles but I've got no extra ideas, how to correctly handle this situation. Any advices or solutions are very welcomed. • Visual Studio crashes when I add a .settings file in a C++ Windows form application

  I'm trying to add a .settings file in a windows form application by adding a (whatever) file in the project and have it named smthng.settings. Right after it is created, it crashes (if I look into the project's directory the file is there, but it's not "in" the project). Am I doing it wrong or could it be that the problem lies elsewhere? Edit: It seems that it's the settings designer that crashes. Partially Solved:If I add a (whatever).config file, then rename it to .settings and change it's file type to C/C++ Code (don't ask how I figured this out..) then I can add to it settings, but if I do add something that has any connection to the form then automatically a (whatever).config with thew same name spawns (which is identical to the (whatever).setting even if change one of them) and at the stdafx.cpp a #include '(whatever).h' appears, which is a problem, because there is not such a header. (if I erase it or just create a blank (whatever).h it doesn't work. Apparently I have to somehow connect all the data in the (w/e).settings to (w/e).h as well or maybe something else) Anyone had this problem before? Anyone has any ideas?

• I just need one dependent module , but don't need its dependencies (Maven)

  In my project , there is a spring XML config that utilizes ehcache to cache method returns. xml snippet : http://www.springmodules.org/schema/ehcache http://www.springmodules.org/schema/cache/springmodules-ehcache.xsd <ehcache:config configLocation="classpath:ehcache.xml"/> <ehcache:proxy id="explainRetriever" refId="explainRetrieverImpl"> <ehcache:caching methodName="get*" cacheName="explainCache"/> </ehcache:proxy> but in runtime , server complains it cannot find definitions of http://www.springmodules.org/schema/ehcache , I know I have to add "spring-modules-cache.jar" to WEB-INF/lib directory. But my project is maintained by maven , if I add "spring-modules-cache" to the runtime dependency , it will bring a lot of dependencies to my WAR file , filling my WAR with a lot of unnecessary jars. I just need one declaration in it , not all of its dependencies ... Is there any way to tell maven not to include its dependencies to the project ? Or ... another way , when packaging WAR , just copy another prepared spring-modules-cache.jar to WEB-INF/lib , how to do this ? Thanks !

• Stop CDATA tags from being output-escaped when writing to XML in C#

  We're creating a system outputting some data to an XML schema. Some of the fields in this schema need their formatting preserved, as it will be parsed by the end system into potentially a Word doc layout. To do this we're using <![CDATA[Some formatted text]]> tags inside of the App.Config file, then putting that into an appropriate property field in a xsd.exe generated class from our schema. Ideally the formatting wouldn't be out problem, but unfortunately thats just how the system is going. The App.Config section looks as follows: <header> <![CDATA[Some sample formatted data]]> </header> The data assignment looks as follows: HeaderSection header = ConfigurationManager.GetSection("header") as HeaderSection; report.header = "<[CDATA[" + header.Header + "]]>"; Finally, the Xml output is handled as follows: xs = new XmlSerializer(typeof(report)); fs = new FileStream (reportLocation, FileMode.Create); xs.Serialize(fs, report); fs.Flush(); fs.Close(); This should in theory produce in the final Xml a section that has information with CDATA tags around it. However, the angled brackets are being converted into &lt; and &gt; I've looked at ways of disabling Outout Escaping, but so far can only find references to XSLT sheets. I've also tried @"<[CDATA[" with the strings, but again no luck. Any help would be appreciated!

• Updating section in ConfigParser (or an alternative)

  I am making a plugin for another program and so I am trying to make thing as lightweight as possible. What i need to do is be able to update the name of a section in the ConfigParser's config file. [project name] author:john doe email: [email protected] year: 2010 I then have text fields where user can edit project's name, author, email and year. I don't think changing [project name] is possible, so I have thought of two solutions: 1 -Have my config file like this: [0] projectname: foobar author:john doe email: [email protected] year: 2010 that way i can change project's name just like another option. But the problem is, i would need the section # to be auto incremented. And to do this i would have to get every section, sort of, and figure out what the next number should be. The other option would be to delete the entire section and its value, and re-add it with the updated values which would require a little more work as well, such as passing a variable that holds the old section name through functions, etc, but i wouldn't mind if it's faster. Which of the two is best? or is there another way? I am willing to go with the fastest/lightweight solution possible, doesn't matter if it requires more work or not.

• custom rss feed suddenly does not work anymore

  I want to make dynamic web service invoker in JSF with CXF. But when I load this simple code I get error. The code: JaxWsDynamicClientFactory dcf = JaxWsDynamicClientFactory.newInstance(); Client client = dcf.createClient("http://ws.strikeiron.com/IPLookup2?wsdl"); The error: No Factories configured for this Application. This happens if the faces-initialization does not work at all - make sure that you properly include all configuration settings necessary for a basic faces application and that all the necessary libs are included. Also check the logging output of your web application and your container for any exceptions! If you did that and find nothing, the mistake might be due to the fact that you use some special web-containers which do not support registering context-listeners via TLD files and a context listener is not setup in your web.xml. A typical config looks like this; org.apache.myfaces.webapp.StartupServletContextListener Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException - No Factories configured for this Application. • Precompile assets for a rails engine

  In a standard app, I have this line in my production.rb, which creates endpoints for non-default precompiled assets: config.assets.precompile += %w( mobile.css ) My rails engine is a standard Sinatra app. It has its own assets. When on development, these assets are served fine, presumably the web requests are handled by rails and sprockets. On production I'm getting 404s on the assets, and think I have to manually tell sprockets to provide the files. How can this be done without tightly linking? It isin't evident how to set up env-specific initializers for engines. Is this done? Not only, for example, is config/development.rb within the engine not loaded, but there's no way to get the application class itself without knowing its name, in order to modify configuration. And even if there was, it seems that having any engine able to reconfigure the main app would be very bad idea. So maybe its better to let assets handling be done by sinatra itself? Or another instance of sprockets for the engine? How do other engines handle this?

• Hello world/Console Project in Visual Studio 2008 64 bit

  So I am trying to run console 64 bit Hello World program. I have Windows 7 Enterprise x64 bit version. I have installed Visual Studio 2008 and have added all of components needed for 64 bit. I want to create simple console application. It turns out to be a problem. I have simple standard hello world project. I have created it using New Project - Empty project. I added main.cpp that contains this: #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { cout << "howdy\n"; } I added new configuration to the project by clicking on Config Manager and added x64 config. Compiled and it compiles. Tried running it and cmd.exe shoots up with following error: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is in correct. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.e xe tool for more detail. Press any key to continue . . . " Which set-up step if any I am missing. What am I doing wrong and how should I go about setting simple console hello world in 64 bit world. Thanks for any help

• Cannot send HTML Emails

  Well I'm trying to send a HTML email using gmail smtp from CI, and it seems to reject my emails when they have any amount of tables. No error is given, they just do not appear in my inbox. If I send an email with light HTML and no tables, they go through. • Product Name Print Several times, How to fix.?

If there are more than one option the products name prints several times. So if I got a product with three options the product name prints three times. • Structuring the UI code of a single-page EXTjs Web app using Rails?

  I’m in the process of creating a large single-page web-app using ext-js for the UI components with Rails on the backend. I’ve come to good solutions for transferring data using Whorm gem and Rails support of RESTful Resources. What I haven’t come to a conclusion on is how to structure the UI and business logic aspects of the application. I’ve had a look at a few options, including Netzke but haven’t seen anything that I really think fits my needs. How should a web-application that uses ext-js components, layouts, and controls in the browser and Rails on the server best implement UI component re-use, good organization, and maintainability while maintaining a flexible layout design. Specifically I’m looking for best-practice suggestions for structuring the code that creates and configures UI components (many UI config options will be based on user data) Should EXT classes be extended in static JS for often re-used customizations and then instantiated with various configuration options by generated JS within html partials? Should partials create javascript blocks that instantiate EXT components? Should partials call helpers that return ruby hashes for EXT component config which is then dumped to Json? Something else entirely? There are many options and I'd love to hear from people who've been down this road and found some methodology that worked for them.

• Stuck trying to get Log4Net to work with Dependency Injection

  I've got a simple winform test app i'm using to try some Log4Net Dependency Injection stuff. I've made a simple interface in my Services project :- public interface ILogging { void Debug(string message); // snip the other's. } Then my concrete type will be using Log4Net... public class Log4NetLogging : ILogging { private static ILog Log4Net { get { return LogManager.GetLogger( MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod().DeclaringType); } } public void Debug(string message) { if (Log4Net.IsDebugEnabled) { Log4Net.Debug(message); } } } So far so good. Nothing too hard there. Now, in a different project (and therefore namesapce), I try and use this ... public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { FileInfo fileInfo = new FileInfo("Log4Net.config"); log4net.Config.XmlConfigurator.Configure(fileInfo); } private void Foo() { // This would be handled with DI, but i've not set it up // (on the constructor, in this code example). ILogging logging = new Log4NetLogging(); logging.Debug("Test message"); } } Ok .. also pretty simple. I've hardcoded the ILogging instance but that is usually dependency injected via the constructor. Anyways, when i check this line of code... return LogManager.GetLogger(MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod().DeclaringType); the DeclaringType type value is of the Service namespace, not the type of the Form (ie. X.Y.Z.Form1) which actually called the method. Without passing the type INTO method as another argument, is there anyway using reflection to figure out the real method that called it?

• Managing project configurations in VS 2010

  I'm working on a solution with multiple projects (class libraries, interop, web application, etc) in VS2010. For the web application, I would like to take advantage of the config transformations in VS2010, so at one point I added configurations for each of our environments: Development, Test, Production, and so on. Some time later, after having rearranged the project layout, I noticed that some projects show all of the configurations in the properties page dropdown. Some projects (added since I did that setup) show only the standard Debug & Release configurations. Once I realized that this was going to make build configurations worse, not better, I decided to remove all of the extra configurations I had added. I've removed all of the various configuration options from the solution, but the projects that had the alternate configuration options still have them, and I can't figure out how to get rid of them in individual projects. Also, now that I see that not all projects have to have the same configurations, I would like to create my environmental configurations at the solution level, and in the web application project (for the config transforms), but leave all of the class libraries with the basic Debug/Release configurations. I've been unable to find any tool in the UI, or any information on the 'Net, concerning how to set up such a thing. So, in short, what's the best/easiest way to manage configurations at the project level in VS2010?

• How to make NSIS create a file in an %APPDATA% of another user?

  I wrote an NSIS installer script for postgresql 9.1. The installer works properly, but after the reboot, the service is not started (right after the install, the database started properly though) I guess this is because the postgres service user has no pgpass.conf file in its %APPDATA%. As far as I understand my install script, the pgpass.conf file is added to the %APPDATA% of the user running the installer (an administrator account in my case). This will not help. I tried the following, to add the pgpass.conf to all users, bt I guess this adds it to a kind of wildcard, not to the %APPDATA% of each user : SetShellVarContext "all" SetOutPath "$APPDATA\postgresql" File config\pgpass.conf SetShellVarContext "current" SetOutPath "$APPDATA\postgresql" File config\pgpass.conf I couldn't find the macro name for c:/Users/postgres in the documentation. This could be a way to achieve it. But with WindowsXP, 7, I wish I need a portable way to address the /Users directory. I wish I could use something like SetShellVarContext "postgres", and then have NSIS write the pgpass.conf file in c:\Users\postgres\AppData\postgresql. Is there a way to do this ? Thnk you !

• starting rails in test environment

  I'm trying to load up rails in the test environment using a ruby script. I've tried googling a bit and found this recommendation: require "../../config/environment" ENV['RAILS_ENV'] = ARGV.first || ENV['RAILS_ENV'] || 'test' This seems to load up my environment alright, but my development database is still being used. Am I doing something wrong? Everything seems to be working fine, but for whatever reason rails seems to be loading in the development environment instead of the test environment. • How to avoid hard coding credentials into Sharepoint webpart?

  I am building a Sharepoint web part that will be used by all users. The web part connects to a web service which needs credentials with higher privileges than common users. I hard coded credentials in the web part's code. query.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("username", "password", "domain"); query is an instance of the web service class This may not be a good approach. In regard with security, source code of the web apart is available to people who are not allowed to see the credential. This is bad enough, But is there any other drawback of this approach? A web part doesn't have a .config file associated. The .config file is in application-level of the sharepoint site, and I don't want to modify it for a single webpart. I wonder if there is a webpart-specific way to solve this problem? Say provide a WebBrowsable property to an admin so that he/she can set credentials. Is this possible? Thanks

• Scratch the screen to display an image in android

  i am working on a android project for my assignment. i am trying to make a scratch image application, you know it's like we scratch the screen to get rid the blocking layer to display the image. but the problem is i don't know where to start. i have searching in stackoverflow's questions that related to this but that's not help. from my search there, i found a clue for this project is using Bitmap.getPixel(int x, int y). so, in my thought i have to get pixel from bitmap and paint it to canvas. but i don't know how to implement it? or anyone has a better method for this? Could anyone please help me? Any tutorials on this kind of thing or related topics?
