  • pxe boot fails with message: no DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found

    I am trying to pxe-boot a machine (client), and in the process I am trying to setup a tftp server that this machine can boot off. On the server, which runs Ubuntu 10.10, I have setup dhcp, dns, nfs, and tftp-hpa servers. All the servers/deamons start fine. I tested the tftp server by using a tftp client and downloading a file that the server directory hosts. I assume it is referring to OPTIONS or TFTP_OPTIONS, but what am I doing wrong?

  • Error Installing DNS Server Role on Windows 2008 Server. Error Code 0x80070643

    I'm having a problem adding the DNS server role to my Windows 2008 Server domain controller. Normally, when I use dcpromo to create a new domain, the DNS service gets installed automatically without error. However, I'm getting this fatal 0x80070643 error. It has nothing to do with my network adapters not having an IP address (as stated by Microsoft), since one of my NICs has a static IP. Has anyone else seen this issue before?

  • IIS6 all websites displays another site when using https

    I have the following websites set up in iis 6. site1.com site2.com site3.com Accessing site1 is via the address https://site1.com. Accessing site2 and site three should be through http. When I try to access https://site2.com it displays the website of https://site1.com. How can I stop this. I either want an error or rediericting to the http site. Any help would be great.

  • Apache2 name based virtual host always redirect 301

    I've got a server (runnging Debian Squeeze) with Apache 2.2, there are 4 site running there. I'm using namebased virtulhosts because I've got a single IP. Initial configuration has been made with Webmin and probably something has been messed up.. firstdomain.com is my default domain and is working correctly, seconddomain.com is another site that is working. Now I want to add lastdomain.tk as a new site, so I've made this config file: root@webamp:/etc/apache2# cat sites-available/lastdomain.tk.conf <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /home/server/Condivisione/RAID/lastdomain.tk ServerName www.alazanes.tk ServerAlias alazanes.tk </VirtualHost> I've added it to enabled-sites and restarted apache. The problem is that if I go to lastdomain.tk (or www.lastdomain.tk) I'm redirected to firstdomain.com with a 301 redirect. Both lastdomain.tk and www.lastdomain.tk are A DNS records pointing to my IP address.   • dhcp-snooping option 82 drops valid dhcp requests on 2610 series Procurve switches

    We are slowly starting to implement dhcp-snooping on our HP ProCurve 2610 series switches, all running the R.11.72 firmware. I'm seeing some strange behavior where dhcp-request or dhcp-renew packets are dropped when originating from "downstream" switches due "untrusted relay information from client". The full error: Received untrusted relay information from client <mac-address> on port <port-number> In more detail we have a 48 port HP2610 (Switch A) and a 24 port HP2610 (Switch B). Switch B is "downstream" of Switch A by virtue of a DSL connection to one of Switch A ports. The dhcp server is connected to Switch A. The relevant bits are as follows: Switch A dhcp-snooping dhcp-snooping authorized-server 192.168.0.254 dhcp-snooping vlan 1 168 interface 25 name "Server" dhcp-snooping trust exit Switch B dhcp-snooping dhcp-snooping authorized-server 192.168.0.254 dhcp-snooping vlan 1 interface Trk1 dhcp-snooping trust exit The switches are set to trust BOTH the port the authorized dhcp server is attached to and its IP address. This is all well and good for the clients attached to Switch A, but the clients attached to Switch B get denied due to the "untrusted relay information" error. This is odd for a few reasons 1) dhcp-relay is not configured on either switch, 2) the Layer-3 network here is flat, same subnet. DHCP packets should not have a modified option 82 attribute. dhcp-relay does appear to be enabled by default however: SWITCH A# show dhcp-relay DHCP Relay Agent : Enabled Option 82 : Disabled Response validation : Disabled Option 82 handle policy : append Remote ID : mac Client Requests Server Responses Valid Dropped Valid Dropped ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- 0 0 0 0 SWITCH B# show dhcp-relay DHCP Relay Agent : Enabled Option 82 : Disabled Response validation : Disabled Option 82 handle policy : append Remote ID : mac Client Requests Server Responses Valid Dropped Valid Dropped ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- 40156 0 0 0 And interestingly enough the dhcp-relay agent seems very busy on Switch B, but why? As far as I can tell there is no reason why dhcp requests need a relay with this topology. And furthermore I can't tell why the upstream switch is dropping legitimate dhcp requests for untrusted relay information when the relay agent in question (on Switch B) isn't modifying the option 82 attributes anyway. Adding the no dhcp-snooping option 82 on Switch A allows the dhcp traffic from Switch B to be approved by Switch A, by virtue of just turning off that feature. What are the repercussions of not validating option 82 modified dhcp traffic? If I disable option 82 on all my "upstream" switches - will they pass dhcp traffic from any downstream switch regardless of that traffic's legitimacy? This behavior is client operating system agnostic. I see it with both Windows and Linux clients. Our DHCP servers are either Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 R2 machines. I see this behavior regardless of the DHCP servers' operating system. Can anyone shed some light on what's happening here and give me some recommendations on how I should proceed with configuring the option 82 setting? I feel like i just haven't completely grokked dhcp-relaying and option 82 attributes.

    My setup is Ubuntu 10.04 on AWS Autossh to create a tunnel for MySQL The tunnel is automatically created using Upstart (/etc/init/autossh.conf): respawn console none start on (local-filesystems and net-device-up IFACE=eth0) stop on [!12345] script #user/IP Address redacted exec autossh -M 20000 -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -L 3306:127.0.0.1:3306 [email protected] end script On boot the tunnel is created, works great. After some random idle time it dies. Any thoughts on how to keep it alive? I don't know what's killing autossh.

  • Problems with DNS propagation 10 days after a change was made

    The engineering team I work with has been in the process of moving equipment from one datacenter to another. Ten days ago we moved one of our name servers authoritative for our client's domains (ns1.faithhiway.com) and updated its IP address with its respective DNS provider (register.com) to point to the new datacenter. All tests done show that this name server is correctly running at its new location and when queried, returning the correct response for any domains it is responsible for. The problem is that well after 72 hours had gone by we were still seeing more DNS activity at its old IP address than at the new. The good news is that we kept a name server responding on the old IP address for the time being so we are not seeing any issues with the domains our nameserver is responsible for but the goal is to retire that as soon as possible. As you can see from WhatsMyDNS.net, a decent amount of propagation has occurred over the last 10 days since we made this change, but still there are some locations reporting our original IP. Considering that the TTL is only 3600 with the name servers responsible for this domain, it does not make any sense to myself or the other engineers working with me that we are having this issue. But a few (OpenDNS and SpeakEasy in the examples above) are still showing the old IP address. Considering the length of time that has gone by, it seems obvious to me that either we have made a mistake and not thoroughly handled the DNS changes on our end (likely) or there is a problem with either the DNS provider for this domain (Register) or with some of the DNS servers out in the wild (rather unlikely). Any advice on how I can proceed with this? UPDATE (January 31, 2011): First of all, I apologize for the length of both the original question and this update. I contemplated removing some of the excess from the original post but just in case this problem and its solution are helpful to someone else in the future I'm just going to leave everything as it is. Anyway, I've been doing some more research into this problem, and have discovered the following interesting occurrence. While running a check on the glue records for faithhiway.com always resolve correctly, if I go and check a client domain (where ns1.faithhiway.com is authoritative), I get a strange response. It looks like the root servers are returning nsX.faithhiway.com as their old IP addresses still (under Additional Section). Because we have a server still there responding to DNS queries, the trace finishes and returns the correct IP addresses as the final step (again, under Additional Section). But, I can only ping the guest machine using IP address from host and network machines. I have avahi-daemon running on Guest OS. I want to be able to ping/ssh the guest machine from host and other machines on network using hostname of the guest machine. Please help.

    I tried everything but keep getting the following error: "Duplicated MAC address". Nothing is duplicated. I disconnected the PC that I would like to assign the IP. Basically this is important as I will configure some port forwarding and my notebook must always get the same IP from DHCP. This is called DHCP reservation but apparently is not working on this router. Has anyone being luck to have this working? The model is CG814WG and you have to click on LAN IP under web administration, -Sergio

  • Is it possible to correct my GeoIP location

    Numerous services and advertising do GeoIP lookups. They get the country correct, but often the city is wrong. Are there places where I can go and correct this, letting people know the actual location of my IP address. I have a static IP, so it's not going to go to another user in a different location.
