  I am attempting to connect a new Orbeon XForm to an existing exist db. • HTTP Content-Type in ASP.Net SoapHttpClientProtocol

  Hi there, I have a problem with a Web Service Consumer written in ASP.NET. The error message is: System.InvalidOperationException: Client found response content type of 'application/xml; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'. The client is based on System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol. We can't change the Content-Type given by the provider, this has to be 'application/xml; charset=utf-8'. Is there any way to change what Content-Type the SoapHttpClientProtocol expects? Unfortunately, we are probably limited to .NET 1.1. Thanks! Update: We found a way to change the Content-Type sent by the provider, and this solved the problem. I'd still be curious to know how to change the expectations of the consumer though.

  I seem to be having an issue with Jax-WS and Jax-b playing nicely together. I need to consume a web-service, which has a predefined WSDL. When executing the generated client I am receiving the following error: javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: javax.xml.bind.MarshalException - with linked exception: [com.sun.istack.SAXException2: unable to marshal type "java.lang.String" as an element because it is missing an @XmlRootElement annotation] This started occurring when I used an external custom binding file to map needlessly complex types to java.lang.string. I was unable to successfully map between the objects without the custom binding. Finally, one other thing I tried was setting a globalBinding definition: <globalBindings generateValueClass="false"></globalBindings> This caused the server to through an argument mismatch exception since the Soap Message was using xs:string xml types instead of passing the defined complex types, so I abandoned that idea. Any insight into what is causing the MarshalException or how to go about solving the issue of calling the webservice and mapping these objects more easily, is greatly appreciated. I've been searching for days and I sadly think I am stumped.

• How to Get Current Weather via Web Services

  I am attempting to get the current weather given a zip code or a set of latitude/longitude coordinates. It appears that best practice to do this (and how NOAA does it) is to get the XML feed for a weather station. Example: http://www.weather.gov/xml/current_obs/KEDW.xml The only problem is that NOAA doesn't provide a good way to find the closest weather station given a zip code or coordinates and I did not see any hosted web services out there that will provide this mapping. Does anyone know of any web services to get the nearest weather station given a zip code or coordinate input? If not, does anyone have any great solutions to look into that provide similar information as NOAA does but takes in a zip code or coordinates?

• [android] Screen Orientation Landscape back to Portrait not working

  Hello, I've racked my brain for hours over this issue. I have created a main.xml and designed one for the res/layout-land (landscape) format and another one for portrait in res/layout. When I rotate the emulator (ctrl-F11), my app rotates properly to landscape using the correct main.xml, but a subsequent rotation back to portrait just keeps the landscape mail.xml. This was done in a 2.0 AVD.. Out of despiration I downloaded the new Sample Code for Multiple Resolutions and had to create a new 2.1 AVD, to my surprise rotation with this app works correctly as expected. So I then decided to try my app on the 2.1 AVD and it works perfectly. So, is this a Bug in a 2.0 AVD or is there something special I need to be doing for < 2.1 SDK versions? This is driving me crazy because no where did anyone mention this issue. Thanks in advance

  How should the configuration for an IoC container be organized? I know that registering by code should be placed at the highest level in an application, but what if an application had hundreds of dependencies that need to be registered? Same with XML configurations. I know that you can split up the XML configurations into multiple files, but that would seem like it would become a maintenance hassle if someone had to dig through multiple XML files. Are there any best practices for organizing the registration of dependencies? From all the videos and tutorials that I've seen, the code used in the demo were simple enough to place in a single location. I have yet to come across a sample application that utilizes a large number of dependencies.

• Why is C# winforms application not working without VS.NET installed?

  Hi folks, I have a winforms c# app that has an embedded webbrowser control inside it generated through VS.NET 2008. However it fails to cast the pEvtObj.srcElement when VS.NET is not installed. This immediately starts working when we install the most basic VS.NET with C# that you can. To note: The rest of the c# app works fine, and you can browser the web through the control fine as well, just that the events like the above 'onclick' can't be handled properly. • What is the simplest way to implement multithredding in c# to existing code

  I have already implemented a functionnal application that parses 26 pages of html all at once to produce an xml file with data contained on the web pages. I would need to implement a thread so that this method can work in the background without causing my app to seems unresponsive. Secondly, I have another function that is decoupled from the first one which compares two xml files to produce a third one and then transform this third xml file to produce an html page using XSLT. This would have to be on a thread, where I can click Cancel to stop the thread whithout crashing the app. What is the easiest best way to do this using WPF forms in VS 2010 ? Note: I cannot use the BackgroundWorker component as it is grayed out in the toolbox.

  I am attempting to resolve timestamped SNAPSHOT dependencies with Ivy. The environment is Ant + Ivy 1.2.0 + Archiva. Archiva itself is populated from Maven2 builds. Ivy is only used to resolve dependencies (from a single, non Maven2 project). How can Ivy be configured to correctly resolve timestamped artifacts from an Archiva or m2 repository? • Specifying culture for http request/reponse

  I have a ReSTful web service which needs to parse culture-sensitive data from the request. This data could either be in an XML body or part of the query string. Is there any acepted way of determining which culture the data is being sent in (and by extension the culture in which the response should be sent)? One option is simply to specify to the clients the culture in which all requests should be sent. A friendlier option seems to be to allow the client to specify the culture. I've considered: a) using the accept-language http header to encode this information. b) using the xml:lang attribute for XML POSTs, and an extra field for query strings (e.g. ...&culture=en-GB) http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-accept-lang-locales warns of limitations in using the accept-language header, but most of the warnings seem to center around requests originating from browsers. In my case the requests will come from other applications. All advice greatly appreciated!

What am I doing wrong here? So how can be it in use?

The formatted xml that I get is as below: node1, node2, node 3 are attributes of pojo,DetailDollars 100 25 10 I have requirement where in I have to calucluate a percentage, for example 100/ 25 and add the new node to the existing ones. So, the final output should be : 100 25 10 4 I wrote a custom converter and registered to my xstream object. public void marshal(..){ writer.startNode("node4"); writer.setValue(getNode1()/ getnode2() ); writer.endNode(); } But, the xml stream I get has only the new node: 4 I am not sure which xstream api would get me the desired format. could you please help me with this . My XML string happens to be very long so I do not want to pass it as a @QueryParam or @PathParam. Say If I write that XML string into a file, How do I go about writing a RESTful service that takes in this file, extracts whatever I want and return the results. I am actually trying to extract some number of strings, so my output should probably be an ArrayList having all these strings.   I'm having an issue opening files that have recently been closed by the .Net framework. Basically, what happens is the following: -Read in an XML file using DataSet.ReadXml() -Make some changes to the data -Write out the XML file using DataSet.WriteXml() -Copy the XML file to a new location using File.Copy -FTP the file using a custom control This sequence can intermittently fail either after the WriteXML or the File.Copy with a file in use exception. I'm guessing it could be the Windows write cache not flushing right away. Can anyone confirm that this could be causing my issue? Any solutions to suggest? Thanks, Dan

• Is there a way to export an XSD schema from a DataContract

  I'm using DataContractSerializer to serialize/deserialize my classes to/from XML. Everything works fine, but at some point I'd like to establish a standard schema for the format of these XML files independent of the actual code. That way if something breaks in the serialization process I can always go back and check what the standard schema should be. Or if I do need to modify the schema the modification is an explicit decision rather then just a later affect of modifying my code. In addition, other people may be writing other software that may not be .NET based that would need to read from these XML files. I'd like to be able to provide them with some kind of documentation of the schema. Is there some relationship between a DataContract and an XSD schema. Is there a way to export the DataContract attributes in classes as an XSD schema?

  I'm just starting to get into Rails caching and am wondering how to test whether or not caching is working in my development environment. I have set these two config variables for both the development (temporarily) and production environments: config.action_controller.perform_caching = true config.action_controller.page_cache_directory = File.join(RAILS_ROOT, 'public', 'cache') And my controller basically looks like this (using the resource_controller gem): class EventsController < Spree::BaseController resource_controller caches_page :index index.response do |format| format.html format.xml { render :xml => @collection.to_xml } end # ... end If I do that, I get these files: public/cache/events.html public/cache/events.xml But when I change caches_page to caches_action, I don't see any generated files and am not sure how to tell if the response has been cached. What do I need to know to know that this is working? I've read the docs and related, the rails caching guides, the railscast, and a few other docs, but I'm still wondering where everything is stored.   I have created an account type using the AccountAuthenticator stuff as done in the SampleSyncAdapter tutorial. I am now trying to get account preferences working.
