  • iPhone SDK: How do I create an overlay drop-down menu?

    Hi, I have a UIViewController containing its UIView which occupies the available screen (inbetween the tabbar and nav bar). I'd now like to add a simple toolbar which is situated at the top of the UIView which will contain some buttons. One of the buttons should display a drop down menu which is displayed as an overlay over the UIView. I'd quite like this menu to be a UITable as it could contain many items. The problem I'm having is I can't see the best way to go about this. I'm wondering whether there's a simple strategy. Here's an example of the type of feature I'm looking for...     Hi, This is the code that I have in my AppDelegate Class - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { CLLocationManager *locationManager = [[CLLocationManager alloc] init]; locationManager.delegate = self; locationManager.distanceFilter = 1000; // 1 Km locationManager.desiredAccuracy = kCLLocationAccuracyKilometer; [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]; } And this is the delegate method i have in my AppDelegate Class //This is the delegate method for CoreLocation - (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { //printf("AppDelegate latitude %+.6f, longitude %+.6f\n", newLocation.coordinate.latitude, newLocation.coordinate.longitude); } Its working in 3.0, 3.1, 3.1.3 , but its not working in 4.0 simulator and device both.   • How to save image to iphone's AddressBook using SDK API ?

    My purpose is to process one image from image library, and save this image directly to one person record (i,e, "Tom" ), which is selected from AddressBook, I can see the new image replace Tom's previous image, but I can not save it to AddressBook. I implemented delegate ABPeoplePickerNavigationControllerDelegate, and using following logics, but whatever I tried, modified records can not be saved to address books. Any clues or suggest ?     I create a c# class library project named: testVcBuild, then use vcbuild.exe to build the project in the command line like: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\vcpackages>vcbuild testVcBuild.csproj "Debug|Win32" the out put shows: Microsoft (R) Visual C++ Project Builder - Command Line Version 9.00.21022 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Microsoft (R) Build Engine Version 2.0.50727.4927 [Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0.50727.4927] Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 2005. All rights reserved. I found that the vcbuild.exe always call the "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Csc.exe /noconfig .." the problem is how can I change the Framework version to v3.5? I found my project works fine with the v3.5 but it's broken in the v2.0.50727. I try to use msbuild.exe instead of vcbuild.exe, everything goes well, I just don't understand how can I make it with the vcbuild.exe? win7+vs2005+vs2008 installed.

I want to do something very very similar for a site I'm building. ShareThis offers a widget that does the same thing but it's branded and external. I'm looking for a pure Ruby solution. A gem containing a module that could be included in a Rails ApplicationHelper class would be perfect. Suggestions appreciated before I go reinventing the wheel!

I've tried this but it doesn't work [[cell topLabel] setText:(NSString *)anObject.aProp]; Putting a breakpoint on the above line and inspecting it, the debugger says "variable is not a CFString Casting the property to a CFString doesnt work Modifying the class and declaring the property as a CFStringRef doesnt work either

I have an array of these objects and I'm trying to figure out when I touch the screen if I'm touching an object on the screen. (FFmpeg is a popular command line tool for video operations) My project is working well on Linux & windows but I cannot invoke FFmpeg on Mac! I have compiled it from svn source on Mac & I have ensured that it is working properly by running it in Mac terminal. In my project, I have created a widget that shows FFmpeg output during conversion, but on mac, It always stays blank. Need help!

    I have a login form for my website. This login form have two text fields, username and password. Currently I am placing labels(username, password) just before textfields. But now I want to removed these two labels and want to show text(username, password) inside textfield. When user focuses on these textfields then texts should be removed and user can enter his desired username and password. I have also noticed that when user open a login form then font color of text(username, password) populated in textfield(username, password) is of diffent color and when user start typing in that field then previous text is removed and new font color is black. How is it possible?

    I used core data to do this: NSManagedObjectContext *m = [self managedObjectContext]; Foo *f = (Foo *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Foo" inManagedObjectContext:m]; f.created_at = [NSDate date]; [m insertObject:f]; NSError *error; [m save:&error]; Where the created_at field is defined as type "Date" in the xcdatamodel. When I export the sql from the sqlite database it created, created_at is defined as type "timestamp" and the values look like: 290902422.72624 Nine digits before the . and then some fraction. What is this format? It's not epoch time and it's not julianday format. Epoch would be: 1269280338.81213 julianday would be: 2455278.236746875 (notice only 7 digits before the . not 9 like I have) How can I convert a number like 290902422.72624 to epoch time? Thanks!
