What is the best way to determine the path to the ISV directory?

MSCRM 4.0 Problem: I'm currently storing xml files in the ISV directory along with my web applications. From a plugin (or potentially a seperate app), I need to find an easy way to navigate to the ISV directory to read these xml files. This routine will be called extremely often, so processing minimization should be a strong consideration. Potential solutions: Registry: There is a registry key called 'WebSitePath' with the data 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\CRM'. Could potentially use this to build the path. (Will this be the same on all systems/installations?) IIS directory data: Looping through the DirectoryEntries of path '"IIS://localhost/W3SVC"' I could obtain the the web application where description is equal to "Microsoft Dynamics CRM". (Will this be the same on all systems/installations?) Webservice: Create one to read and return the data contained in these xml files The webservice would have easy access to its executing directory. Database: Store the data of these files in the database. Help: Can anyone suggest a simpler solution to obtaining and reading a file from the ISV directory? If not, which of the above solutions would be the quickest to process? Thanks for any and all contributions.

jQuery RJS inserting string vs dom.

So I am trying to use jQuery to insert data from an ajax call. I actually use the jquery.form plugin, and have the ajax form submitted with a dataType: 'script'. The response is a jquery expression which contains a <%= javascript_escape(render ...) %> erb tag (similar to what the railscasts episode 136 instructs to do). However the end result is that the full text of the render is inserted as if that was the content to be inserted into the page, as text, not as dom elements. Could the fact that the render had some newlines at the beginning be the cause? Dom text: "\n \n <li>....</li>" I also tried having jQuery just read the response as a script and execute it, and used the prototype-based rjs stuff, same effect, the text is inserted into the dom. Are there any reasons why such a behavior would be experienced? A bit of clarification: My response.js.erb is jQuery("#content").append("<%= escape_javascript(render(:partial => "widgets")) %>"); jQuery("#information").text("Finally, something happened!"); The full text inside the append() call is inserted as text into #content.

Apache mod_deflate not compressing responses from Adobe BlazeDS

Hello, I have following setup Apache Box <=> Weblogic Box1 <=> Weblogic Box2 Apache Box : mod_weblogic(weblogic apache plugin), mod_deflate Weblogic Box1 : Weblogic 10.3 Weblogic Portal, Adobe BlazeDS Weblogic Box2 : Weblogic 10.3 SUN Jersey for REST API Apache forwards the request to Box1, where some of the REST requests get forwarded to Box 2 by Adobe BlazeDS. On Apache i have setup mod_deflate and mod_weblogic as follows: <IfModule mod_weblogic.c> WebLogicHost portalappeng.xxx.com WebLogicPort 7001 </IfModule> <Location /Portal> SetHandler weblogic-handler SetOutputFilter DEFLATE </Location> but when i look at the Apache deflate log i only see the jsp responses from Box1 being compressed, but the responses which BlazeDS forwarded to Box 2 are not compressed. Also the .js and .css files which are served from Box1 are not compressed Here are sample from log file, first response came directly from Box1 and got compressed, second and third also from Box1 but not compressed. Fourth one came from Box 2 to Box 1(BlazeDS) and then to Apache, not compressed. What am i missing? Django upload failing on request data read error

Hi All, I've got a Django app that accepts uploads from jQuery uploadify, a jQ plugin that uses flash to upload files and give a progress bar. Files under about 150k work, but bigger files always fail and almost always at around 192k (that's 3 chunks) completed, sometimes at around 160k. jQuery: Inserting li items one by one?

Doing this maybe adding the <li> items one by one theoretically but when I load the page, everything shows up instantaneously. Instead, is there an efficient way to make them appear one by one more slowly? I'll explain with a small example: If I have 3 items, this code is making all the 3 items appear instantaneously (at least to my eyes). I want something like 1 fades in, then 2 fades in, then 3 (something like a newsticker perhaps). Anyone has a suggestion?

Pros/Cons of MySQL vs Postgresql for production Ruby on Rails environment?

I will soon be switching from sqlite3 to either postgres or mysql. What should I consider when making this decision? Is mysql more suited for Rails than postgres in some areas and/or vice versa? Or, as I somewhat suspect, does it not really matter either way? Another factor that might play into my decision is the availability of tools to data pump my test data from the sqlite3 db to my new one. Is there anything that ActiveRecord provides natively to do this or any decent plugins/gems to help with this task? However, I need it to be formatted in M:S format. So, my two questions: 1) What can I use instead of animate to take care of the loop yet maintain the callback 2) How (where in the code should I) can I play with the time format? Thanks.

A few questions about a Rails model for a simple addressbook app

I have a Rails application that lists information about local services. My objectives for this model are as follows: 1. Require the name and tag_list fields. 2. Require one or more of the tollfreephone, phone, phone2, mobile, fax, email or website fields. 3. If the paddress field has a value, then encode it with the Geokit plugin. As for encoding with Geokit, in order to save a record with the model I have to enter an address. Which is not the behavior I want. I would like it to not require the paddress field, but if the paddress field does have a value, it should encode the geocode. As it stands, it always tries to geocode the incoming entry. The commented out "if paddress_changed?" was not working and I could not find something like "if paddress_exists?" that would work. Help with any of these issues would be greatly appreciated. I posted three questions pertaining to my model because I'm not sure if they are preventing each other from working. Thank you for reading my questions.

How to architect Rails site that can be edited while running?

Hi, I am writing a Rails app that "scrapes/navigates" some other websites and webservices for content. I am using Mechanize and Savon to do the heavylifting. But given the dynamic nature of the web, I'd like to make my calls to these editable by the admin users of the site - rather than requiring me to release a new version of the site. The actual scraping thread happens async to the website, using the daemons gem. My requirements are: Thinking that the scraping/webservice calling code is quite simple, the easiest route is to make the whole class editable by the admins. Keep a history of the scraping code - so that we can fairly easily revert if we introduce a problem. Initially use the code from the file system, but as soon as thats been edited and stored somewhere, to use that code instead. I am thinking my options are: Store the code in the db (with a history table for the old versions) Store the code in a private git repo somewhere and access that for the history/latest versions. I am thinking the git route might be easiest, given its raison d'etre is to track file history... But perhaps there is a gem/plugin that does all this for me, out of the box? Retrieve click() handler in jQuery for later use

I'm using the jQuery tablesorter plugin to sort a table, which assigns .click() handlers to the <th>s in the table. Since my table has alternating colors for each column, I've built a simple fix_table_colors(identifier) function that does as it should when I call it manually using Firebug. I would like, however, to have that automatically called after a sort. To do this, I decided to retrieve the .click() handler from the <th>s, and assign a new handler that simply calls the previous handler, followed by fix_table_colors(). (This SO question is similar, but uses standard onClick() attributes, which won't work here.) I get an 'e is undefined' error on line 2 of tablesorter.min.js when using that, though. Am I even going down the right path? I have a feeling that with what I've found so far, I can make this work, but it's going to be much uglier than I would expect it needs to be.

How to add XmlInclude attribute dynamically

I have the following classes [XmlRoot] public class AList { public List<B> ListOfBs {get; set;} } public class B { public string BaseProperty {get; set;} } public class C : B { public string SomeProperty {get; set;} } public class Main { public static void Main(string[] args) { var aList = new AList(); aList.ListOfBs = new List<B>(); var c = new C { BaseProperty = "Base", SomeProperty = "Some" }; aList.ListOfBs.Add(c); var type = typeof (AList); var serializer = new XmlSerializer(type); TextWriter w = new StringWriter(); serializer.Serialize(w, aList); } } Now when I try to run the code I got an InvalidOperationException at last line saying that The type XmlTest.C was not expected. Use the XmlInclude or SoapInclude attribute to specify types that are not known statically. I know that adding a [XmlInclude(typeof(C))] attribute with [XmlRoot] would solve the problem. But I want to achieve it dynamically. Because in my project class C is not known prior to loading. Class C is being loaded as a plugin, so it is not possible for me to add XmlInclude attribute there. I tried also with TypeDescriptor.AddAttributes(typeof(AList), new[] { new XmlIncludeAttribute(c.GetType()) }); before var type = typeof (AList); but no use. It is still giving the same exception. Does any one have any idea on how to achieve it?

fullcalendar : updating option function callbacks after init

Ok, so I have a problem with setting options whose values are callback functions when I try to set them after plugin initialization. I think this would be a common behavior, to dynamically set event callback after init'ing the calendar. Here is a snipit of code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#calendar').fullCalendar({ editable: false ,events:[{"title":"meeting.title","start":"2010-05-21 15:58:16 UTC"},{"title":"meeting.title","start":"2010-05-24 15:58:16", "url":"http://google.com"}] /* ,eventClick: function(event) { if (event.url) { window.open(event.url); return false; } } */ }); $('#calendar').fullCalendar('options', 'eventClick', function(event) { if (event.url) { window.open(event.url); return false; } }); }); You can see that I have setting the eventClick function as an init option commented out. If I do it that way, it works fine. However if I try to set it after the init, it doesn't work :( Is the some other way to do this? Or am I stuck with having to set the behavior upfront?

git pull crashes after other member push something

Here it's the story... we have a Github account. I clone the repository ... then I can work with it, commit things, push things, etc ... I use Linux with command line and git version 1.7.7.3 Then other user, using Eclipse and git plugin for eclipse eGit 1.1.0 pushes something, and it appears in the github web pages as the last commit, but when I try to pull: $ git pull remote: Counting objects: 13, done. remote: Compressing objects: 100% (6/6), done. remote: Total 9 (delta 2), reused 7 (delta 0) Unpacking objects: 100% (9/9), done. error: unable to find 3e6c5386cab0c605877f296642d5183f582964b6 fatal: object 3e6c5386cab0c605877f296642d5183f582964b6 not found "3e6c5386cab0c605877f296642d5183f582964b6" is the commit hash of the last commit, done by the other user ... there's no problem at all to browse it through web page ... but for me it's impossible to pull it. It's strange, because my command line output tells about that commit hash, so it knows that one is the last one commit in the github system, but my git can not pull it ! Maybe the git protocol used in eGit is incompatible with the console git 1.7.7.3...

Efficient AutoSuggest with jQuery?

I'm working to build a jQuery AutoSuggest plugin, inspired by Apple's spotlight. Right now the code above hits the server every time you type a key and does not wait for you to essentially finish typing. What's the best way to solve this? A. Kill previous AJAX request? B. Some type of AJAX caching? C. Adding some type of delay to only submit .AJAX() when the person has stopped typing for 300ms or so?

Jquery Cluetip - clean up between ajax loaded content

Hi, I'm using the jquery cluetip plugin and trying to figure out how to remove any open cluetip dialogs once i load new content via ajax. I am either stuck with the dialog boxes still showing on top of new content, or the ways i've tried to fix this actually remove all future cluetip dialogs from showing at all. Here's my code, thanks for any help. On dom ready i instantiate cluetip as below. //activate cluetip $('a.jTip').cluetip({ attribute: 'href', cluetipClass: 'jtip', arrows: true, activation: 'click', ajaxCache: false, dropShadow: true, sticky: true, mouseOutClose: false, closePosition: 'title' }); When i'm loading new content, I have the following code. tabs on web page and seo

I know there is a lot of js plugins to do "tabs", but also i can do it my self. Just have some elements with display:none and when you click some other element display changes to block, or something like that. Now, i have a one site i am developing, where i am giving specific users(all within one usergroup) access to edit only one page which i have created. That part is done. Now i have a request to give those users ability to edit 2 more sub pages, but since its all gonna be the same, like text with some pictures, i was thinking to put 3 textarea's so they will have 1 page where they can edit content of all those 3 pages. What i also thought was to only have one page and on it to have 3 tabs. Each tab for each possible page. When i started thinking about that the only concern was seo. How does seo works regarding elements with display:none? What jquery tabs plugin do you recommend that has the ability to access tabs via id of the element in url? I was looking at jquery ui demo but there when you get the url of one of those tabs and try to open it in new window, that tab is not opened. javascript table sorting/paging (client-side). How big is too big?

I'm using a jQuery plugin called Tablesorter to do client-side sorting of a log table in one of my applications. I am also making use of the tablepager add-in. I really like the responsiveness that client-side sorting and paging brings to the party. I also like how you don't have to hit the web server or database repeatedly. However I can see that, in time, the log I'm displaying could grow quite large. I'm sure there comes a point where client-side paging and sorting is going to be impractical. What point will this technique begin to collapse under it's own weight? 500 records? 2000 records? 10,000 records? EDIT: In nutshell, what criteria would you use to determine if you are going to use client-side sorting/paging as opposed to server-side paging? Does the size of expected result set factor into your decision? Where is the tipping point?

jQuery: Using autocomplete to add values to two fields instead of one

I want to use the autocomplete plugin for jQuery to populate not one, but two fields when selecting one of the autocomplete values - the name of a band is entered in the #band input field, but the band url (if exists) should also automatically be added to the #url input field when selecting the band name. alternative to JQuery form.submit() to do ajax post

Hello, I have a mvc2 application with a view like this <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("UserApprove", new { id = Model.id }, new AjaxOptions() { UpdateTargetId = "statusLights", OnSuccess = "HideButtons" }, new { id = "UserApprove" })) {%> <input type="button" value="Approve" onclick="$('#dialogApprove').dialog('open')" /> <div id="dialogApprove" title="Confirm"> <p> Are you sure you want to approve this request? </p> </div> <% } %> FYI, the controller returns a partial view back. I used to not have the jquery dialog and just simple a <input type="Submit" value="Approve" /> that used to work fine I added the jquery dialog and I have something like this to initialize the dialog. $("#dialogApprove").dialog({ autoOpen: false, draggable: true, resizable: false, buttons: { "Cancel": function() { $(this).dialog("close") }, "Approve": function() { $("#UserApprove").submit(); $(this).dialog("close"); } } }); The $("#UserApprove").submit(); does not seem to be doing an ajax post. It comes back with just the text from the partial view returned in a new page. I dont want to use the jquery form plugin which has .ajaxSubmit(). Is there any other way to force an ajax post from the jquery dialog "approve" button?

Applet to Object tags

im trying to get from applet to object so i can resolve z-index issues. The first applet tag works...my conversion to object doesn't. Can anyone point me in the right direction? What is your workflow when designing HTML/CSS layouts?

I have been working with PHP/MySQL as a hobby for close to a couple of years now, I have been working with photoshop for a very long time, I know CSS & HTML well enough to write without any reference, so, I would not consider myself someone who's very new at this. I have recently started developing websites professionally - (only person working on the project). I have seen the power of Joomla and how you can make a website ready for your customer in a matter of hours(if not minutes). I find it very hard to make layouts that remotely look like the themes on joomla. I find making even simple layouts a very cumbersome process and takes a lot of time to get a good enough output. I have a feeling I may not be using the right tools or workflow for the job. What I wanted to findout was, as part of the industry : How do, you, make your website when you do it from scratch? What are the tools that you use? What is your workflow? Just noted a few things I know already, for your reference(You can skip this if you like) I have seen the export for web for Photoshop that exports CSS - but (as far as I know) exports only absolutely positioned webpages so they need to be beaten and fixed if you want to use them for example for joomla. I have used the SiteGrinder plugin for Photoshop that exports HTML/CSS. It looks promising but haven't tried it extensively. One of the tools that save loads of time is FireBug. This makes it easy to edit html and css on the fly and get the page looking exactly as you want it. Recently stumbled upon fireworks. But haven't explored it much. Thanks! :)

Why are mercurial subrepos behaving as unversioned files in eclipse AND torotoiseHG

I am trying to use the subrepo feature of mercurial, using the mercurial eclipse plugin\tortoiseHG. These are the steps I took: Created an empty dir /root cloned all repos that I want to be subrepos inside this folder (/root/sub1, /root/sub2) Created and added the .hgsub file in the root repo /root/.hgsub and put all the mappings of the sub repos in it using tortoiseHG, right clicked on /root and selected create repository here again with tortoise, selected all the files inside /root and added them to to the root repo commited the root repo pushed the local root repo into an empty repo I have set up on kiln Then, I pulled the root repo in eclipse, using import-mercurial. Now I see that all the subrepos appear as though they are unversioned (no "orange cylinder" icon next to their corresponding folders in the eclipse file explorer). Furthermore, when I right click on one of the subrepos, I don't get all the hg commands in the "team" menu as I usually get, with root projects - no "pull", "push" etc. Also, when I made a change to a file in a subrepo, and then "committed" the root project, it told me there were no changes found. I see the same behavior also in tortoiseHG - When I am browsing files under /root, the files belonging directly to the root repo have an small icon (a V sign) on them marking they are version controlled, while the subrepos' folders aren't marked as such. Am I doing something wrong, or is it a bug?

Hello i'm using a plugin of hibernate2 in my webproject with jsp ,in my project i have a register page. Can i use javabeans to send information from a html <form> using hibernate class's ? with out hibernate i creat class with get and set like that package com.java2s; public class Lang { private String choix; private String comm; public String getChoix() { return choix; } public void setChoix(String choix) { this.choix = choix; //System.out.println(choix); } public String getComm() { return comm; } public void setComm(String comm) { this.comm = comm; // System.out.println(comm); } } but i know that hibernate generate a get and set class ! and recive it with that : <jsp:useBean id='user' class='com.java2s.Lang' type='com.java2s.Lang' scope='session' /> <jsp:setProperty name='user' property='*'/> any idea how to do that ?
