  • Objective-C: properties not being saved or passed

    - by Gerald Yeo
Hi, i'm a newbie to iphone development. I'm doing a navigation-based app, and I'm having trouble passing values to a new view. @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController { NSString *imgurl; NSMutableArray *galleryArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *imgurl; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *galleryArray; - (void)showAll; @end #import "RootViewController.h" #import "ScrollView.h" #import "Model.h" #import "JSON/JSON.h" @implementation RootViewController @synthesize galleryArray, imgurl; - (void)viewDidLoad { UIBarButtonItem *showButton = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Show All", @"") style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(showAll)] autorelease]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = showButton; NSString *jsonString = [[Model sharedInstance] jsonFromURLString:@"http://www.ddbstaging.com/gerald/gallery.php"]; NSDictionary *resultDictionary = [jsonString JSONValue]; if (resultDictionary == nil) { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Webservice Down" message:@"The webservice you are accessing is currently down. Please try again later." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; } else { galleryArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; galleryArray = [resultDictionary valueForKey:@"gallery"]; imgurl = (NSString *)[galleryArray objectAtIndex:0]; NSLog(@" -> %@", galleryArray); NSLog(imgurl); } } - (void)showAll { NSLog(@" -> %@", galleryArray); NSLog(imgurl); ScrollView *controller = [[ScrollView alloc] initWithJSON:galleryArray]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; } The RootViewController startup and the json data loads up fine. I can see it from the first console trace. However, once I click on the Show All button, the app crashes. It doesn't even trace the galleryArray and imgurl properyly. Maybe additional pairs of eyes can spot my mistakes. Any help is greatly appreciated! • Sphinx search distributed index tuning

    - by Andriy Bohdan
    I'm deciding how to split 3 large sphinx indexes between 3 servers. Each of the 3 indexes is searched separately. What's more effective: to host each index on separate machine Example machine1 - index1 machine2 - index2 machine3 - index3 or to split each index into 3 parts and host each part of the same index on separate machine. Example machine1 - index1_chunk1, index2_chunk1, index3_chunk1 machine2 - index1_chunk2, index2_chunk2, index3_chunk2 machine3 - index1_chunk3, index2_chunk3, index3_chunk3 ?

  • How can I position some divs inside an unordered list so they line up with the root element of the l

    - by Ronedog
    I want to position all the divs to line up to the left on the same x coordinate so it looks nice. Notice the picture below, how based on the number of nested categories the div (and its contents) show up at slightly different x coordinates. I need to have the div's line up at exactly the same x coordinate no matter how deeply nested. Note, the bottom most category always has a div for the content, but that div has to be situated inside the last < li . I am using an unordered list to display the menu and thought the best solution would be to grab the root category (Cat 2, and mCat1) and obtain their left offset using jquery, then simply use that value to update the positioning of the div...but I couldn't seem to get it to work just right. I would appreciate any advice or help that you are willing to give. Heres the HTML <ul id="nav> <li>Cat 2 <ul> <li>sub cat2</li> </ul> </li> <li>mCat1 <ul> <li>Subcat A <ul> <li>Subcat A.1 <ul> <li>Annie</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> Heres some jquery I tried (I have do insert the div inside this .each() loop in order to retrieve some values, but basically, this selector is grabbing the last < li in the menu tree and placing a div after it and that is the div that I want to position. the 245 value was something I was playing around with to see how I could get things to line up, and I know its out of wack, but the problem is still the same no matter what I do: $("#nav li:not(:has(li))").each(function () { var self = $(this); var position = self.offset(); var xLeft = Math.round(position.left)- 245; console.log("xLeft:", xLeft ); self.after( '<div id="' + self.attr('p_node') + '_p_cont_div" class="property_position" style="display:none; left:' + xLeft + 'px;" /> ' ); }); Heres the css: .property_position{ float:left; position: relative; top: 0px; padding-top:5px; padding-bottom:10px; }

I understand that you can configure the Git service in Linux with: git daemon Is there a native Windows option, short of sharing folders, to host a Git service? EDIT: I am currently using the cygwin install of git to store and work with git repositories in Windows, but I would like to take the next step of hosting a repository with a service that can provide access to others.

  • WCF service with 2 Bindings and 2 Base Addresses

    - by Sean
    I have written a WCF service (I am a newb) that I want to provide 2 endpoints for (net.tcp & basicHttp) The problem comes when I try to configure the endpoints. If I configure them as seperate services, then my service names are the same which causes a problem. I have seen recomended creating shim classes (classA : MyService, and ClassB : MyService) but that seems smelly. <services> <service name="MyWcfService.MyService" behaviorConfiguration="MyWcfService.HttpBehavior"> <endpoint name="ApplicationHttp" address="Application" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="HttpBinding" contract="MyWcfService.Interfaces.IMyService" /> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="http://localhost:8731/MyWcfService/" /> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> <service name="MyWcfService.MyService" behaviorConfiguration="MyWcfService.MyBehavior"> <endpoint name="Application" address="Application" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="SecuredByWindows" contract="EmsHistorianService.Interfaces.IApplicationHistorianService" /> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexTcpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:49153/MyWcfService" /> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> </services> I have tried using a single service with the base address integrated into the address, but that gives me errors as well <services> <service name="MyWcfService.MyService" behaviorConfiguration="MyWcfService.HttpBehavior"> <endpoint name="ApplicationHttp" address="http://localhost:8731/MyWcfService/Application" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="HttpBinding" contract="MyWcfService.Interfaces.IMyService" /> <endpoint address="http://localhost:8731/MyWcfService/mex" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> <endpoint name="Application" address="net.tcp://localhost:49153/MyWcfService/Application" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="SecuredByWindows" contract="EmsHistorianService.Interfaces.IApplicationHistorianService" /> <endpoint address="net.tcp://localhost:49153/MyWcfService/mex" binding="mexTcpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> </service> </services> Any ideas?

  • Strange iPhone memory leak in xml parser

    - by Chris
Update: I edited the code, but the problem persists... Hi everyone, this is my first post here - I found this place a great ressource for solving many of my questions. Normally I try my best to fix anything on my own but this time I really have no idea what goes wrong, so I hope someone can help me out. I am building an iPhone app that parses a couple of xml files using TouchXML. I have a class XMLParser, which takes care of downloading and parsing the results. I am getting memory leaks when I parse an xml file more than once with the same instance of XMLParser. Here is one of the parsing snippets (just the relevant part): for(int counter = 0; counter < [item childCount]; counter++) { CXMLNode *child = [item childAtIndex:counter]; if([[child name] isEqualToString:@"PRODUCT"]) { NSMutableDictionary *product = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; for(int j = 0; j < [child childCount]; j++) { CXMLNode *grandchild = [child childAtIndex:j]; if([[grandchild stringValue] length] > 1) { NSString *trimmedString = [[grandchild stringValue] stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]; [product setObject:trimmedString forKey:[grandchild name]]; } } // Add product to current category array switch (categoryId) { case 0: [self.mobil addObject: product]; break; case 1: [self.allgemein addObject: product]; break; case 2: [self.besitzeIch addObject: product]; break; case 3: [self.willIch addObject: product]; break; default: break; } [product release]; } } The first time, I parse the xml no leak shows up in instruments, the next time I do so, I got a lot of leaks (NSCFString / NSCFDictionary). Instruments points me to this part inside CXMLNode.m, when I dig into a leaked object: theStringValue = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(const char *)theXMLString]; if ( _node->type != CXMLTextKind ) xmlFree(theXMLString); } return(theStringValue); I really spent a long time and tried multiple approaches to fix this, but to no avail so far, maybe I am missing something essential? Any help is highly appreciated, thank you!

  • Object allocate and init in Objective C

    - by Ronnie Liew
What is the difference between the following 2 ways to allocate and init an object? AController *tempAController = [[AController alloc] init]; self.aController = tempAController; [tempAController release]; and self.aController= [[AController alloc] init]; Most of the apple example use the first method. Why would you allocate, init and object and then release immediately?

  • How to set username and password for SmtpClient object in .NET?

    - by Ryan
I see different versions of the constructor, one uses info from web.config, one specifies the host, and one the host and port. But how do I set the username and password to something different from the web.config? We have the issue where our internal smtp is blocked by some high security clients and we want to use their smtp server, is there a way to do this from the code instead of web.config?

  • Django - Better evaluation of relationship at the model level

    - by Brant
Here's a simple relational pair of models. class Shelf(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=100) def has_books(self): if Book.objects.filter(shelf=self): return True else: return False class Book(models.Model): shelf = models.ForeignKey(Shelf) name = models.CharField(max_length=100) Is there a better (or alternative) way to write the "has_book" method? I'm not a fan of the double database hit but I want to do this at the model level.

  • Help with infrequent segmentation fault in accessing struct

    - by Sarah
I'm having trouble debugging a segmentation fault. I'd appreciate tips on how to go about narrowing in on the problem. The error appears when an iterator tries to access an element of a struct Infection, defined as: struct Infection { public: explicit Infection( double it, double rt ) : infT( it ), recT( rt ) {} double infT; // infection start time double recT; // scheduled recovery time }; These structs are kept in a special structure, InfectionMap: typedef boost::unordered_multimap< int, Infection > InfectionMap; Every member of class Host has an InfectionMap carriage. Recovery times and associated host identifiers are kept in a priority queue. When a scheduled recovery event arises in the simulation for a particular strain s in a particular host, the program searches through carriage of that host to find the Infection whose recT matches the recovery time (double recoverTime). (For reasons that aren't worth going into, it's not as expedient for me to use recT as the key to InfectionMap; the strain s is more useful, and coinfections with the same strain are possible.) assert( carriage.size() > 0 ); pair<InfectionMap::iterator,InfectionMap::iterator> ret = carriage.equal_range( s ); InfectionMap::iterator it; for ( it = ret.first; it != ret.second; it++ ) { if ( ((*it).second).recT == recoverTime ) { // produces seg fault carriage.erase( it ); } } I get a "Program received signal EXC_BAD_ACCESS, Could not access memory. Reason: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at address..." on the line specified above. The recoverTime is fine, and the assert(...) in the code is not tripped. As I said, this seg fault appears 'randomly' after thousands of successful recovery events. How would you go about figuring out what's going on? I'd love ideas about what could be wrong and how I can further investigate the problem.
