  Hi, I'm just wondering how I can have javascript simulate a click on a element. • Wrapping 3 objects or less inside a while / foreach in PHP

  Simple question. I have an array of 21 elements, and show every three of them inside a <div> block. The code is something like this: <?php $faces= array( 1 => 'happy', 2 => 'sad', (sic) 21 => 'angry' ); $i = 1; foreach ($faces as $face) { echo $face; $i++; } ?> The problem lies when this array doesn't have 21 elements, sometimes it gets 24, an other times 17. How I wrap every three of them, and wrap alone the rest? I came up with using switch and case, but that works only when there are 21 elements only. I think I could count them beforehand and put a closing in the last one (even if it is a group of one element).

• Small line-height cross-browser difference

  So basicly my problem is that the line-heights in Firefox are a little bittle "larger" than in other browsers even though they're all fixed line-heights. For example, you have a block element which has a height from 100px and the line-height is set to 102px. Now, in Firefox the vertical alignment of text is perfect. But in the latest Chrome and Safari 4, the text stands 2px or so higher. Isn't there any way to fix this? Thanks.

• How Android 2.2 interacting with Flash 10.1 (how to use flash from my app)?

  Hi! I'm searched adobe and android developers sites, but can't find any details on this. Is it possible to use Flash as a part of my app? E.g. like a widget/GUI element? Or it's integrated in browser only and can't be simple accessible? I know, Adobe AIR apps are supported as standalone .apk. So it must be some API/SDK (from Google) to connect with Flash player. Is there any details, how to program it (more clear: launch swf from my app and interact with it)? Thank you!

• step attribute not working with HTML5 <input type="range"> on Safari

  Are there known issues with range inputs not working fully on Safari? I have the following input element: <input type=?"range" min=?"0" max=?"360" step=?"0.0001" value=?"0">? On Chrome, the input goes according to the step variable. On Safari, it only goes by integer values. Even setting the step to 10 still makes it go by increments of 1. I'm confused because I thought Chrome and Safari both used WebKit.

• Can't remove first node in linked list

  I'm trying to make a linked list class in python (pointless I know, but it's a learning exercise), and the method I have written to remove a node doesn't work if I try to remove the first element of the linked list. If the node to be removed is anywhere else in the linked list the method works fine. Can someone give me some insight as to where I've gone wrong?   If I have Map setup like: map.put("foo", "123"); map.put("bar", "456"); map.put("baz", "789"); then I want to do something like: for (String key : map.keySet().toArray(new String[0])) { // marshall out to .xml a tag with the name key and the // value map.get(key) } So what it will marshal out is something like: <map> <foo>123</foo> <bar>456</bar> <baz>789</baz> </map> Can I do this with some fancy JAXB annotations or is there something else that lends it self to dynamic element names? • XUL: create menu items dynamically and set "selected" attr

  I have a firefox extension Options pref panel, where I should dynamically create menu items and select particular item to be current. here is the XUL file part <menulist id="rss_service_combo"> <menupopup id="rss_service_menu"/> </menulist> Then in load event of the pref panel, using js I append menuitem elements into menupop. This is working fine. The only problem is that even if I set the selected element the item is not selected and combo box is initially empty. The only way is working at the moment is if I manually add those menuitems into XUL file and set selected attribute, but I need to do it dynamically.

  Hi, I'm looking for a way to display a message to the user if he leaves my site after only viewing one page. I'm no javascript master :) My intention is to add the code on very specific landing pages only, and display the message when people leave the page without downloading my trial software or reading other pages on my site.

  Today I hit something very annoying while working with one of my colleagues. It seems there are two Point classes in .NET and by mistake we were trying for a good few minutes to figure out why our "Point(x,y)" wouldn’t take double, but only Int. Turns out we were using the wrong one since the XAML element in question needed the version with Double. So, based on what you actually want to do, make sure you’re using the right namespace. I can't write $('.outer > .inner', a) because I don't want to do full-depth search against a — I know that the .outer elements are immediate children of a. It's partly a matter of "elegance", but partly because I'm trying to avoid "throwaway" element sets. Yes, jQuery may in effect do the same thing, but it has a better chance of optimizing (at least in theory), when it knows the full query's intent.

• RSS feed without items

  I have webpage where I have a search page. I provide a "dynamic" RSS feed for search so that a user can subscribe to search results for any search term he likes. So I was wondering what is the standard (or best practise) way to do if that search term returns 0 results which means I have no "items" to put in the feed. Do I just return an empty feed (only including the meta data and no item elements). Or should I put some special item element in the feed with some "no results" text? edit: YouTube returns a feed without any item elements. If no-one can answer me I'll take it that this is the right way of doing it since I can't find any info elsewhere :)

• Creating triangles using borders

  I recently needed to create speech bubbles. To create the little tip at the end of the speech bubble, i used a css technique where the element is given a 0 width and 0 height and given borders. Making certain borders transparent would create diagonals. This works great, and i am able to manipulate different borders to create triangles/shapes to my liking. The problem is, i don't fully understand why this works. I understand that it all starts out with a rectangle and as you set one or more of the borders to transparent it creates a diagonal. My question is how does this work ? And why does it create a diagonal in the first place ? EDIT: To clarify, i would like to know the theory behind why this technique works.

  I have a classic table / thead / tbody structure, which I add a line at the end of the tbody. The line contains only an input element. The code works in Firefox 3.6 but not in Chrome v5 or IE8. I'm using jQuery 1.4.1. Does not work: $("#" + AJAX_ID).parent().find('tr:last > td:nth-child(2) > input').focus(); Does work: $("#" + AJAX_ID).parent().find('tr:last > td:nth-child(2) > input').css('background-color', 'red'); even setting an ID on the input, and using document.getElementBuId('id').focus() doesn't work. • errorPage directive works, but error-page in web.xml doesn't?

  I get jsp exceptions causing a forward to my error page when I put this at the top of my JSPs... <%@ page errorPage="/error.page" %> but when I try to do it globally with web.xml like so: <error-page> <exception-type>java.lang.Throwable</exception-type> <location>/error.page</location> </error-page> I just get a blank page... I've also tried putting /error.jsp in the location element.. but no love with that either.. I am triggering an exception with a jsp that just contains this: <%if(true)throw new RuntimeException("test exception");%> I do see the exception in the console from tomcat but I just can't get that error page to show without a directive on every jsp... am I missing something simple here?
