What is the most serious limitation of Unity?

Having read this heated question about Unity vs. UDK vs. ID something, I'm curious to know: what the repeatedly-hit, most crippling limitation(s) of Unity? In order to keep this question non-subjective, again, I'm talking about the top repeated offender(s) of Unity are. This is something that, as a Unity user, you really wish someone had told you about before you started using it. I have heard from someone that Unity does not deal well with version control, since it generates a lot of binary files (which are un-diffable). This, to me, is not really crippling as I work alone. Thoughts?

Chinese bots in my forum

I have a small community forum that doesn't really get posts or any real traffic. The only thing that happens on the regular is bots with Chinese IPs signing up gibberish usernames. Most bots don't make it past the captcha but some do. I try to stay on top of this by banning IPs and ranges of IPs but it doesn't really seem to help. The bots never post anything so what are they doing? Should I be worried? Should I keep banning IPs or is it futile?

Since Unity on my old MBP is not that snappy, I really want to change my GUI to Gnome Shell. However, I've really been struggeling with the customization of Gnome Shell. Can you help me with the following: Is is possible to have the dock on the screen all the time? Can I enable 'hot corners' for features like 'scaling' in compiz? Is there a ccsm-like GUI configuration tool? Can I enable wobbly windows in Gnome Shell? How do I change the shortcut for the WIN-KEY to start this 'Gnome-Mission-Control' (by that I mean this thing u see when going to the top left corner). Thank you.

Cloudflare displaying cached CSS in-line?

I recently enabled CloudFlare on my domain, and when I make HTML statements like this: <link href="css/main.css" rel="stylesheet" /> The CSS gets displayed in-line, like this: <style>body{padding-top:40px}span.light{font-weight:lighter!important}span.title{font-size:60px;line-height:1;letter-spacing:-1px;color:inherit}</style> When I update the file via FTP, the changes are not reflected, which leads me to believe that this is a caching issue. Is this due to CloudFlare? If so, how do I disable the behavior? EDIT I also came to the conclusion that caching is behind the behavior after being able to see changes in the page after re-naming the CSS file.

I am writing a utility that runs on RHEL5 command line. I need my command line options to be simple but powerful. I looked at the various UNIX utilities to get an idea of how simple command line utilities have to be. Do you guys suggest any documents/links that talk about command line etiquette? I am modelling my utility on top of LVM (that's all the info I can give for now). I know it's a software engineering question, but I thought it would be appropriate to post here. Please advise.... PS: I am not asking for details about getopt or command line utility parsers.....

TGA loader: reverse y-axis

I've written a TGA image loader in Java which is working perfectly for files created with GIMP as long as they are saved with the option origin set to Top Left (Note: Actually TGA files are meant to be stored upside down - Bottom Left in GIMP). My problem is that I want my image loader to be capable of reading all different kinds of TGA, so my question is: How do I flip the image upside down? Note that I store all image data inside a one-dimensional byte array, because OpenGL (glTexImage2D to be specific) requires it that way. Thanks in advance.

What is an "integration script" and why would I want one?

When I navigate to Launchpad in Firefox, a pop-up appears: I think, despite its failure to form a coherent question, it's trying to ask me if I want to install an "integration script" called "unity-webapps-launchpad". Sadly, it does not provide me with enough information to make an informed decision, nor does it refer me to a source where I can learn more about it. The top result in my web searches on the topic is my own bug report. While this cyclical phenomenon provides a brief source of amusement, it is ultimately unhelpful. Best way to trigger editing and dynamically show editing features? [on hold]

This actions drop down I would like to have an action to 'Enable Editing'. Upon clicking to enable editing, I would like a PHP variable modified from 'EnableEditing = false' to 'EnableEditing = true'. Why I would like to use PHP maybe questionable, here is why I would like to use PHP under my understanding to clarify; Sections on my page will show to different administrators depending on their level. Upon enabling editing mode, certain contents will then dynamically. <?php if ($_SESSION['user_level_status'] < 2) { if ($editing = enabled) { show this } else { show this } } ?> Something similar to this, I'm new at PHP so this may look incorrect. Can we 301 redirect to a new page, but still publish the old content somewhere else?

We have a page on the site which ranks well for an SEO term (top 5) but contains old information. We have added a new page but Google doesn't rank it that well. Information on these pages is time sensitive. Old: example.com/2013-related-information.html New: example.com/2014-related-information.html Obvious solution is to delete old page and do a 301 redirect to the new page. Now, can we still keep the old page by giving it a new URL. example.com/2013-related-information.html is redirected to example.com/2014-related-information.html example.com/2014-related-information.html is recreated with a new address such as example.com/new-2013-related-information.html What we are trying to do is to send the user to the fresh page but still not destroying the record copy if someone wants to go and dig up the old information.

box2d and constant movement

i'm developing a game with a top down view, the players body is a circle. To move the character you need to tap on the screen and it moves to the spot. To achieve this i'm saving the coordinate of the touch and call a method every frame which applies linear velocity to the body with a vector of the direction the body should go _body->SetLinearVelocity(b2Vec2((a.x - currPos.x)/SPEED_RATIO,(size.height - a.y - currPos.y)/SPEED_RATIO)); //click position - current position, screen height - click position (since the y axis is flipped, (0,0) is in the bottom left ) - current position = vector of the direction we want to go now the problem with this is that the body slows down until it finally stops when getting closer to the point we want it to go, since the closer we are to that point the lenght of the vector gets smaller. Besides that i've read that it's bad practice to set linear velocity in box2d and i should use apply force instead, but that way the forces would add up and overshoot the target where it's supposed to stop. So what i'm asking is how to move a box2d body to a coordinate in constant speed.
