  • Backup drivers for a device in Windows 7

    If I can't find a driver on the internet when I prep for a reinstall of Windows 7, I figure if the driver is already installed, why not back it up and reinstall later? The only method I know of is going through Device Manager Device Properties Driver Details. This gives me a nice list of all the files, but then I need to go manually retrieve all of them. For devices with a lot of driver files, this is inefficient. Is there a better way to accomplish this?

    I'm using imagebuttons that play sounds using SoundPool. Here is example code of one of the imagebuttons: ImageButton Button1 = (ImageButton)findViewById(R.id.sound); Button1.setOnTouchListener(new OnTouchListener() { public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { if (event.getAction() == MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN ) { mSoundManager.playSound(1); return false; } return false; } }); For some reason, it doesn't allow you to click multiple buttons at the same time. Is it because I'm building for 1.6 SDK? Thanks!

    As i understoond, if we have local service of some application, as soon as the application goes down, the service goes down as well - is that true? and if it is, how can we make an application to run all the time without go down?     After capturing a layout screenshot, Containing ImageViews pixels is semi-transparent ( it's abnormal ). Also widget that has transparent color is transparent ( it's normal ). Solid widget is not transparent ( it's normal ). Source of imageviews is JPG files ( so no transparent pixels in the bitmap ).   • How can I get unfiltered position in filtered ListView?

    I am using ListView with ArrayAdapter to filter items in list. I have implemented onListItemClick() method to get clicked item position and call second activity using that value. For example I have countries in my list: Australia Belgium Botswana Belize ... Belgium has position 1 here. However, if i type "Be" to filter items, I get one item as a result: Belgium Now if I click on this item, I get position 0 in onListItemClick(). But this behavior does not fit my needs. How can I get this item's unfiltered position (eg. 1 instead of 0)?

  • Don't launch application from widget

    Hi all, I'm trying to make an appwidget where I have a dialog pop up on top of the home screen. (Ex the Facebook widget). I have button on the widget and an activity that I run when the button is clicked. I have the activity set to the Theme.Translucent.NoTitleBar theme so that the dialog and/or toast I have should pop up over the home screen. Anyways, whenever I have the transparent activity open, it opens the application instead of staying on the home screen. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    well, i hope this doesn't get categorized as a boating question, but it really is related to programming. I have windows XP, and i am going to have to have a VM running: Windows 7 Visual Studio 2008 Sql Server 2008 IIS 7 (8 in a little while) Wamp Photoshop CS5 etc... so i was wondering what should i use to be easier to install and configure, and best performance: Virtual Box or Microsoft's Virtual Machine? Thank you Well i tried Virtual Box, it's always crashing for some reason. I think i'm going to try Virtual PC, just to stick to an all Microsoft Solution.

    I have a full system image using Acronis True Image Home 10 and want to run it as a virtual machine on Windows 7 Professional. I have created a virtual machine but Windows Virtual PC doesn't allow access to a USB external hard disk when booting from the Acronis Recovery CD. I've copied the backup onto the host machine and I can access it via the network using the Acronis boot CD but I'm wondering if there is an easier way? Does any other free Virtual Machine software support USB devices during boot (i.e. I can restore a backup image from the USB hard disk directly)

But how can I make one of these to be audio output device. Its always going for the default audio device. I want to be able to output audio on my choice of device.     Hi, Iam planning to create an app, and not to publish it at the google market. i want the users to update thire app once in a while when an updates will be rlsd via server(let's not get into the idea how i gonna do this)... so for this i need to give to each app some ID, so i know that that user gotta update his app, and not new installation (i wanna avoid the case the user will have two versions of the app).. and ofcourse install the app to new users. how could i sign those apps with version when i rls an update manually? mybe some other idea? thanks, ray.

    Is there any file system that can be mounted multiple times and supports concurrent file access for Linux? Basically I want something like a cluster file system but without the need to have a running network for a distributed lock manager. That can be very handy in connection with virtual machines that can share data with the host or another VM without the need to create a network link. This I want to avoid to keep the network architecture secure (virtual machine in DMZ) but share large files. No need to scale it up, just two machines that mount the same block device. Shouldn't it be possible to have file locking information right on the disk?

    Hi, I'm programming for Windows CE and I need to connect to a scanner. There is no problem - I know that it is on port COM0, but if I plug in another device earlier it gets another COM port... to get all com ports the easy way is: SerialPort.GetPortNames() But I don't know how to identify a device? Is there any standard way? I can't 'ping' it since there is one device that only sends data... it spams data all the time... and I don't know how to 'ping' a device...

Basically I wanted to make an SMS messaging app, but it would only be useful if I could see past threads etc. It seems like there's a content provider for this, but I can't find documentation for it - anyone know where that is?   • Impossible to stop raid device

    I'm trying to stop a RAID disk in order to replace it by a new one, as this one is not working properly. I'm typing mdadm --stop /dev/md1, and I'm getting an error message: mdadm: fail to stop array /dev/md1: Device or resource busy I'm getting this message even if I reboot the server, and I can't see a process that could cause this. The server is working under a Debian with a 2.6.18-4-amd64 kernel. Could you help? Edit: Mote details about what my colleague tried out. After unmounting sda1, the command mdadm --remove /dev/md0 /dev/sda1 worked. But now, we still have an error message after mdadm --remove /dev/md1 /dev/sda5: mdadm: hot remove failed for /dev/sda5: Device or resource busy I still don't understand completly how the different partitions are mounted, so I suppose there is something I don't understand in the currenct situation...

  • Error when starting an activity

    I'm starting an activity when a button is pressed, and normally (in other apps) haven't had an issue. But when I press the button in this app, I get an "unable to marshal value" error. Exact(ish) error from LogCat: 03-22 02:49:02.883: WARN/System.err(252): java.lang.RuntimeException: Parcel: unable to marshal value {CLASSNAME}@44dcf1b8 I feel that this might be related to the extra that I'm passing to the intent. I'm passing an ArrayList as a serializable to this new intent. My concern is that the data structure that the ArrayList contains isn't being serialized (as it's a personal data structure). Is the array list content data structure causing this? Something else that I'm missing?
