    I know the .NET framework and WPF pretty well, but I think the whole thing has gotten too blown up, especially for small apps as the whole .NET framework 3.5 weighs 197 MB by now. I am looking for a language/framework/library that provides functionality similar to that of WPF (animations, gradients, a.s.o.) and the .NET framework (of course not everything, but the basic features) and which is faster and more lightweight than the .NET framework and creates smaller and faster applications than the ones using .NET. Do you have any suggestions?

    Where to get streaming (live) video and audio from camera example for Nokia (5800 for ex)? Suppose I want to create some live video streaming service app so I'll have some cool server at the back end. And I know how to do that part. Suppose I have some stand alone app for PCs now I want to go on to mobile devices. So I decided to start from Nokia because I have it and can do with it what I want (Nokia 5800 XpressMusic). So I want to see some sample app grabing audio and video streams from Phone, Synchronizing them, and sending LIVE stream to server. I need any OpenSource sample (JAVA or C or C++) that ll do this or something like this. Where can I get one?

Probably one of you knows one. The program should be open source, written in C with very little user library usage (only file IO, pthreads, stdio, stdlib preferred) and must have a binary size of at least 2MB.     I know this same question was asked for Entity Framework 1, but now that Entity Framework 4 has come out, and Microsoft claims that it provides all of the features of Linq to Sql + more, does Entity Framework now support lazy loading expensive properties? In Linq to Sql, this is extremely easy. There's a Delay Loaded option on any property (accessible through the Designer) that can simply be toggled on or off. Is there something similar in Entity Framework? Thanks

    I thought it would be a cool experiment to have a for loop and create a file hello.txt and then delete it with unlink. I figured that if fs.unlink is the delete file procedure in Node, then fs.link must be the create file. However, my code will only delete, and it will not create, not even once. Even if I separate the fs.link code into a separate file, it still will not create my file hello.txt.     Hi Guys, I'd like to use the built in directory security features built into the web.config to restrict access to child pages of a parent page. My structure is as follows: Members Members/News Members/Press Members/Movies Users should be able to have access to the members parent page, but not child pages. My problem is, because I am using extensionless URLs, the web.config thinks this is a directory and so access is blocked. Is there a way to say only restrict access for sub pages?

    Sup guys, heres my view: CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW SISTEMA.VWTELA AS SELECT TEL_DLTELA AS Tela, TEL_DLDESCRICAO As Descricao, TEL_DLTABELA As Tabela, CASE WHEN to_char(TEL_STATIVO) = to_char(1) THEN to_char('Yes') ELSE to_char('No') END as Ativo, TEL_IDTELA AS IDTEL FROM SISTEMA.TEL_TELA; When i do a SELECT * FROM SISTEMA.VWTELA it works fine from PL/SQL Developer but when i launch the query from my VB.NET application it throws me a super annoying error ORA-01722. Any ideas? The Application code works perfecty with any query so its not application code error but prolly some "super cool feature" from ODP.NET. Already tried to_number, to_whatever and same error always happens.

  • Algorithm for calculating definite integrals with bounds at infinity

    Suppose I have an integral that's bounded on one (or both) end by (-)infinity. AFAICT, I can't analytically solve this problem, it takes brute force (e.g. using a Left Riemann Sum). I'm having trouble generalizing the algorithm so that it sets the proper subdivisions; I'll either do far too much work to calculate something trivial, or not do nearly enough and have huge aliasing errors. Answering in any language is cool, but maybe someone with better google-fu can end this quickly. :) Is what I'm looking for as impossible as trying to measure the British coastline?

    Hi, I'm using jQuery UI, sortable on an ul element. All good, except over time the data in my li elements has become table like, in the sense there are multiple columns of data. They aren't aligning correctly because this seems to be hard to do in ul, and indeed not what ul's are designed for. I have 2 choices the way I see Work out some really cool css to make my ul / li format nicely Work out how to convert this to a sortable table With option 2., looking at a few plugins that exist (tablednd for example), they seem very old. I don't believe the jQuery UI Anyone got any recommendations as far as a direction I should head?

  • Can I package my Eclipse extension so the right version is automatically installed?

    Is there a way to build an Eclipse Update Site so that Eclipse 3.3 will install one version of my plug-in while Eclipse 3.4 will install another version? Background: I've become responsible for an Eclipse extension that has half a dozen plug-ins which depend on a "support" plug-in, and the support plug-in needs to be one version for Eclipse 3.3 and a different version for Eclipse 3.4/3.5. I currently have two separate features, "extension for 3.3" and "extension for 3.4+" but I'd like to not bother my users with this detail.

    I have developed a simple mechanism for my mvc website to pull in html via jquery which then populates a specified div. All is well and it looks cool. My problem is that i'm now creating html markup inside of my controller (Which is very easy to do in VB.net btw) I'd rather not mix up the sepparation of concerns. Is it possible to use a custom 'MVC View User Control' to suit this need? Can I create an instance of a control, pass in the model data and render to html? It would then be a simple matter of rendering and passing back to the calling browser.

  • JSObject-like stuff in ActionScript 3?

    I would like to ask if there is a liveconnect equivalent for ActionScript 3. I understand that there is the ExternalInterface class inside AS3 but it only supports calling a method by name. The really cool thing about Java and LiveConnect is that you can do something like function jsFunc(name) = { this.name = name; this.talk = function(){ alert('hello world my name is ' + this.name); } } javaapplet.function(new jsFunc("bob")); The above approaches pseudo code since I never tested it but I've seen it in action. In AS3, while I am able to pass in an instance of JavaScript "object" into AS, it is often converted into an ActionScript Object instance which does away with all the functions as far as I'm aware. I saw an implementation of JSInterface but I don't think it does specifically that. Is there any way to make OO like javascript work with ActionScript 3?

  • Is it possible to disable Symfony framework support in NetBeans 6.8?

    Put simply: it causes a massive memory leak within an hour if I work on a Symfony project, and I don't use any of the features that it provides. I've looked through all of the menus and can't seem to see an option to disable support for it. Has anyone attempted or managed to remove this module from the IDE? I quite like NetBeans, but on the rare occasions when I need to work with a Symfony project it's causing me quite a headache.
