Something really similar to AirBnB, or any other map based app. Of course, I could just take Google Maps API and build what's around. But I guess a lot of people already did that, and may be I could use their work to make mine faster. • Plug-in or framework recommendation for showing content preview fly-over in CMS

  The requirement is to have either front end plug-in or back end processor that generates the preview of contents (such as images, videos, PDF files, HTML pages) in a preview popup when user mouse hovers the content. I did some research on this, seems that there are assorted jquery plugins for each type of files, but what we are looking for is a framework that handles all types of file previews. Ideally, we want to generate preview images on the backend, considering the cost of retrieving content on front end. I did find some open source or proprietary CMS that provides this feature, but usually they are shipped as one suite and the API for file preview might not be open. Is there any java or jquery framework that handles file preview? Thanks a lot

  I am curious about how global variables are handled by script engines. I am looking for a script engine that does not preserve the state of global variables upon invocation. Are there such engines out there? We are looking for a scripting language we can use under the script engine API for Java. When making multiple invocations of a script engine, top-level calls to eval() or evaluate() method preserves the state of global variables, meaning that consequent calls to eval() will use the global variables as they were left by the last invocation. Is there a script engine that does not preserve the state, or provides the ability to reset the state, so that global variables are at their initial state every time the script engine is invoked?

To do so I was setting up an system plugin with the following directory structure: languageroot/languageroot.php languageroot/form/form.xml As you can see in the posted code, that is all very basic to try out. Only after adding the following lines: <li <?php echo $this-form-getLabel( 'langroot-text', 'main' )? <?php echo $this-form-getInput('langroot-text', 'main' ); ? </li to: /admininstrator/components/com_menus/views/item/tmpl/edit.php a textfield shows up. Is it possible to inject the field without touching the edit.php? Is there anywhere a good tutorial about the JForm api? Is a system-plugin the right kind, or could it be a content plugin, or should it even be a component?

• How much C/C++ knowledge is needed for Objective-C/iPhone development?

  First, a little background. I'm a .Net developer (C#) and have over 5 years experience in both web development and desktop applications. I've been wanting to look into iPhone development for some time now, but for one reason or another always got side tracked. I finally have a potential project on the horizon, and I'm now going full steam ahead learning this stuff. My question is this: I haven't done any C/C++ programming since my schooling days, I've been living in managed land ever since. How much knowledge if any is needed to be successful as an iOS developer? Obviously memory management is something that I'll have to be conscious about (although with iOS 5 there seems to be something called ARC which should make my life easier), but what else? I'm not just talking about the C API (for example, in order to get the sin of a number, I call the sin() function), that's what Google is for. I'm talking about fundamental C/C++ idioms that the average C# developer is unaware of.

  What is the best way to implement this: 1.iphone/webBrowser user selects some products (a,b,c) to buy 2.the chosen products most appear on the iPad located in the Store. using a UITableView perhaps. 3.The store staff then decide if the products are available in 10, 20 or 30 minutes for pick up. 4.When the store staff chose the time(10,20,30 minutes) it must appear/communicate back to the users web browser or iPhone. 5.buyer comes to the store to pick up the products he buyed! Im not really good in this kind of communication stuff! I need help! what is the best way to implement this? are there external api/plugin I could use? I already have an ftp server.   I am working at a localization agency and we have been approached by a client about testing their games on iOS as well as Android. Testing on iOS seems fairly easy as we can just buy a couple of devices and we should be covered. For Android it seems to be completely different. From what i found, the emulator can cover all API levels, screen sizes and such, but i hear it's buggy and nothing could replace testing on real devices. With the vast amount of Android devices out there and the rate at which new devices are released it seems impossible to keep up. How can i test games (localization and functional) on Android covering all compatible devices?

  I need to run a few perl scripts from a Java GUI application. I am using Runtime API to do that. However, few of the perl scripts need to run under a specific user account to have special credentials to access specialized resources (e.g. Database, Files). I have heard of alleviating user access using UAC. But till now I am not able to find the solution. Please help me on how to run a process under a different user login. Is there anything similar to c# impersonization in Java?

  I'm very new to programming. I started learning PHP about half a year ago, so I do know something. I can write small functions, I can export and import information from a database and I can make a website. I don't know OOP principles and I don't know about objects and classes. Should I move to OOP principles and learn about classes, methods and objects? If not, what should I do? Continue writing simple code? How can a programmer write his/her own API? Is OOP necessary to do this? So how can i improve my skills? I love programming. I spend my 24/7 on it, so any help will be appreciated.

  I have some usage queries for my web app's database, the results of which I want to display graphically. Is there an easy-to-use api that exists for this purpose? I want to show things like average query-time per user (a small user-base), average query time per day, and things like that. I think it would be cool to show these on a two-axis graph. I am displaying this data on my site, so a jQuery/javascript/html solution for rendering information into graphs would be ideal. Thank you :) P.S. I wasn't sure if I should ask this on SO, but I am looking more for which product to use, not how to program with it.

This is scheduled for inclusion into the upcoming GlassFish 3.1.1 release. In fact it's already integrated in the latest promoted build (#8) which also includes woodstox 4.1.1. Weld 1.1.1.Final has already been integrated a few builds ago.   I've searched around here but could not find any booking system that would suit my need. I hope maybe you can help me out. I've already seen question #11379 over here. Solutions provided there are not helping and scripts not interesting. I'm looking for a booking system that support infinite number of hotels/rooms/pricingschemes. There should be unlimited number of hotel owner/users, who can access control panel and set availability for their hotel. Or create seasonal prices and adjust them. I should be able to have 15% booking fee paid through credit cart. I can work on integration with my system, it just needs to have correct APi/functionality to support this. I love wordpress so if there are some nice plugins for that, I'm open for suggestions. But this is not a must. It should be php/mysql based as I'm not good at anything else :)

Specifically, what I want it to wrap in a C++ API: Simple GUI system 2D Graphics User touch input and accelerometer Networking (UDP sockets) What I'm trying to do is port a multiplayer game to the iOS. I've seen cocos2d-x, but I don't know how stable it is and I don't think it supports networking. Oh, and I want it to be free and open source if possible. Android support is a plus but definitely not required.

  Before patching scuttle or semanticscuttle I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of a lighter-weight/faster system to tag bookmarks and vote on them? LAMP is fine. Ideally, I should be allowed to interfere with the database directly. My actual problem is I want to administer roughly 80m bookmarks, tag them, vote on them (it's just 10 users accessing the system), but here's the thing: All of those bookmarks will change their descriptions (and title lines) at least once a day. Both systems support the del.icio.us API but my LAMP stack is unable to cope with the load.

  Recently I've learned that using a regex to parse the HTML of a website to get the data you need isn't the best course of action. So my question is simple: What then, is the best / most efficient and a generally stable way to get this data? I should note that: There are no API's There is no other source where I can get the data from (no databases, feeds and such) There is no access to the source files. (Data from public websites) Let's say the data is normal text, displayed in a table in a html page I'm currently using python for my project but a language independent solution/tips would be nice. As a side question: How would you go about it when the webpage is constructed by Ajax calls?
