  • Post High Score and Retrieve Position

    I'm not so savvy with MYSQL, so my apologies in advance is this is a dumb question. I've created a super basic PHP High Scores table. Upon inserting a new score into the DB Table, I'd like to retrieve the position of that score so that I can get 10 results with the persons score falling within that range. My INSERT Query looks something like: $stmt = $mysqli->prepare("INSERT INTO highscores (name, time, score) VALUES (?, ?, ?)"); $stmt->bind_param('sdi', $name, $time, $score); UPDATE - I'm looking for a way to do this with as few queries as possible. I recall reading something about getting an INSERT ID when making an insert, but I would then still have to make a second query to get those results.

    Hi, moved a rails app of mine onto a new server and had to install a few gem dependencies. However, after installing the mysql gem I get the error, uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes, whenever I try to run a rake command that involves the mysql database. It seems I only get this error when I require the mms2r gem. Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm running mysql 2.8.1 gem.

    I find myself working in an environment where all I have access to is Tomcat + MySQL. No Apache, no PHP. I'm looking for a web interface to MySQL that will run under Tomcat (can't be a desktop interface, as the mysql port is not accessible). I'm tried jMyAdmin and javaMyAdmin. I can't get either to work, and both lack documentation and community support. Can anyone make a recommendation please?

    I've got some data in the following format: -1,-1,-1,-1,701,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,304,390,403,435,438,439,442,455 I need to insert it into a temp table like this: CREATE TABLE #TEMP ( Node int ) So that I can use it in a comparison with data in another table. The data above represents separate rows of the "Node" column. Is there an easy way to insert this data, all in one command? Also, the data will actually being coming in as seen, as a string... so I need to be able to just concat it into the SQL query string. I can obviously modify it first if needed.

    I have an EditorGridPanel with toolbar button to add new records. Everything works fine except one scenario. When I try to insert a record which already exists in database, server sends back: {"success":false,"message":"already exists","data":{}} but grid creates a new row marked with red triangle. If after that I try to insert a new record (even if it doesn't exist in database), everything works fine on the server side, but i get an 'uncaught exception' in firebug. It says: 'uncaught exception: Ext.data.DataReader: #realize was called with invalid remote-data. Please see the docs for DataReader#realize and review your DataReader configuration.' why is that?

    I am about to run a massive data insert into my DB. I have managed to work out how to enable and rebuild non-clustered indexes on my tables but I also want to disable/enable primary keys. You can't disable the clustered index for the primary key as the table is inaccessible when that is done and my attempt to do a ALTER TABLE for constraints does not work as I think that is only for foreign keys. Do you know of a way to Disable the Primary Key and Re-Enable After SQL Bulk Insert. NOTE: This is over numerous tables and so I don't know the exact primary key specifications eg/name etc

    I m sry if the title is not clear. Here's my proble. I created a new table which will show total, average and maximum values. I have to insert the results into that table. That table will have only 4 rows. No Appointment, Appointment Early, Appointment Late and Appointment Punctual. So.. I have sth like.. insert into newTable select 'No Appointment' as 'Col1', avg statement, total statement, max statement from orgTable where (general conditions) and (unique condition to check NO APPOINTMENT); I have to do that same thing for another 3 rows.. where only the unique condition is different to check early, punctual or late.. So..the statement is super long. I wanna reduce the size.. How can I achieve that?

    Hello, I have a situation when there's a table and you can add a new row by clicking a button. The row is dynamically generated by a server and it is passed back in HTML. So basically what i need to do is prefix the new row to the old table. Something like this: tableelement.innerHTML = newHtml + tableelement.innerHTML; That surely works, but i have a table header and, obviously, i need to insert the new html after it. How would i do this? insertBefore or insertAfter can't help (afaik), because they're meant for inserting elements and not unparsed HTML. So how could i, having an object of the header's row, insert another row (in HTML) after it (or before) ? Thank you for your ideas

I would like to be able to manage my production schema beginning all design changes in the EER and propogating those out to my schema for created and altered tables.     I have a bunch of records I want to move to another database and I just want to create a bunch of inserts that I can copy and paste. I've seen someone do this before but I can't figure it out. I'm not getting the escapes right. It's something like this where 'Code', 'Description' and 'Absent' are the columns I want from the table. SELECT 'INSERT INTO AttendanceCodes (Code, Description, Absent) VALUES (' + Code + ',' + Description + ',' + Absent')' FROM AttendanceCodes The end result should be a slew of INSERTS with the correct values like this: INSERT INTO AttendanceCodes (Code, Description, Absent) VALUES ('A','Unverified Absence','UA')

    I have a 2d vector which represents a 2d grid; so grid[0][2] for example. I am needing to 'insert' -might not be the right word here. a vector at a specific location say grid[3][2] there will definitely be a grid[0][0] but when im needing to insert into grid[3][2] there may be nothing before it other than grid[0][0] and there needs to be the space in between for later on. Is there any way to do this? Thank you for your help. ps: I should note that the size of the vectors are not known (they will grow over time)

  • Issue changing innodb_log_file_size

    I haven't done much tweaking in the past so this might be relatively easy however I am running into issues. This is what I do: Stop MySQL Edit my.cnf (changing innodb_log_file_size) Remove ib_logfile0/1 Start MySQL Starts fine however all InnoDB tables have the .frm file is invalid error, the status shows InnoDB engine is disabled so I obviously go back, remove the change and everything works again. I was able to change every other variable I've tried but I can't seem to find out why InnoDB fails to start even after removing the log files. Am I missing something? Thanks. Edit: Pasting of the log below - looks like it still seems to find the log file even though they are not there? How can you do the same in if std::set is the sub-set of std::list my list i.e std::list<std::set <string>> mylist; if you can't then why not?

    I am new to postgresql (and databases in general) and was hoping to get some pointers on improving the efficiency of the following statement. I am inserting data from one table to another, and do not want to insert duplicate values. I have a rid (unique identifier in each table) that are indexed and are Primary Keys. I am currently using the following statement: Insert INTO table1 SELECT * FROM table2 WHERE rid NOT IN (SELECT rid FROM table1). As of now the table one is 200,000 records, table2 is 20,000 records. Table1 is going to keep growing (probably to around 2,000,000) and table2 will stay around 20,000 records. As of now the statement takes about 15 minutes to run. I am concerned that as Table1 grows this is going to take way to long. Any suggestions?
