• Windows Phone 7 emulator on a VM?

  It seems that the Windows Phone 7 SDK doesn't support running inside a VM. On Parallels, the entire VM simply crashes when the emulator is starting up. Around the web, though, a few people have reported that they were able to use it by changing a lot of the VM settings. What do I have to change to be able to run it? I'm specially interested in Parallels, but VMWare or any other simulator that run on OSX if fine for me!

• C# Printing and Zebra Printer

  I wrote a library which creates a bitmap image from some user input. This bitmap is then printed using a zebra printer. The problem I am running into is everything is very faint and blurry on the image printed by the zebra printer but if I print the bitmap to a laser printer it looks perfectly normal. Has anyone run into this before and if so how did they fix it? I have tried nearly everything I can think of printer settings wise.

• Showing Master/Detail UITableView inside UIPopOverController

  I have a UIPopOverController that shows a UIViewController with a UITableview in its view. The cells in the table have a detailedView, but whenever that view gets pushed, the PopOverController increases in size, and I am left with all this white space inside it. Question is this: Can anyone show me how I can have a Master/Detail UITableview show inside a PopOverController whilst preserving its dimensions? • Objective-C++ compiles for iPhone, but not simulator

  I have a C++ library I want to add to my iphone project. In one header file I declare @class a { cppvirtualclass V; } This compiles fine for the iPhone device with Release settings. However it refuses to compile for the Simulator with or without debug info. It give the error error: type 'V' has virtual member functions. Is there a way out of this or do I have to define only concrete C++ classes?

• Parsing RSS2.0 feeds using Pull Parser on Android

  I am trying to parse a RSS2.0 feed, obtained from a remote server, on my Android device using XML Pull Parser. // get a parser instance and set input,encoding XmlPullParser parser = Xml.newPullParser(); parser.setInput(getInputStream(), null); I am getting invalid token exceptions: Error parsing document. (position:line -1, column -1) caused by: org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser$ParseException: At line 158, column 25: not well-formed (invalid token) Strangely, when I download the feed XML on the device, bundle it inside the raw folder and then run the same code. Everything works fine. What could be the problem here? How do I validate the XML before I parse it on device? Thanks.

  I created a custom ComboBox as follows: (note, code is not correct but you should get the general idea.) I created a class called Setting which inherits from DependencyObject to create usable items, I created a DataTemplate to bind the contents of this Settings object to my ComboBox and created a UserControl which contains an ItemControl which has as a template my previously mentioned DataTemplate. One way I managed to achieve this was replacing my ItemsControl by a ListBox but this caused several issues: it always showed a scrollbar even though I disabled it, it wouldn't catch focus when my popup was open but only when I explicitly selected the item in my ListBox, when I enabled the OverridesDefaultStyle property the contents of the ListBox wouldn't show up at all, I had to re-theme the ListBox control to match my UserControl layout... What's the best and easiest way to get my DescriptionText to show up without using a ListBox or creating a custom Selector control (as that had the same effect as a ListBox)? The goal at the end is to loop through all the items (maybe get them into an ObservableCollection or some sort and to save them into my settings file.

The data is populating from the cursor correctly (I see the list filling with text rows), but I'm not able to see the actual text in the rows - all I see are empty rows.   I've posted a bigger chunk of the code below. You can see that initially QUOTE was procedural- coded in place. I'm trying to learn how to use declarative design so I want to do the same thing but by using resources. It seems like I need to access the string.xml thru the @R.id tag and identify QUOTE with that string value. But I don't know enough to negotiate this. Any tips? • ASP.Net Session_Start event not firing

  I have an ASP.Net 2.0 application in which the Session_Start event is not firing in my Global.asax file. Can anyone tell why this is happening and how I can get it working? The application worked fine on my Windows XP development machine, but stopped working when deployed to the server (Win Server 2003/IIS 6/ASP.Net 2.0). I'm not sure if this is relevant, but the server also hosts a SharePoint installation (WSS 3.0) which I know does change some settings at the default web site level.

I've created a handful of modules before, one on the admin page at the dashboard that is on the right side that you click to expand/collapse. PS: Kinetic scrolling: A scrolling mechanism where you don't use a scrollbar to scroll the content, but you touch the list itself, and pull and push it. The "physics engine" then counts out the speed, and stops based on the given settings.

(english, russian) work perfectly. I know it's something with character-set, but I tried all kind of settings and it didn't work. For now it's latin-1. LIKE works I'm pretty much sure that any weird language like arabic etc won't work...

  I'm trying to parse Rss2, Atom feeds using SyndicationFeedFormatter and SyndicationFeed objects. But I'm getting XmlExceptions while parsing DateTime field like pubDate and/or lastBuildDate. Wed, 24 Feb 2010 18:56:04 GMT+00:00 does not work Wed, 24 Feb 2010 18:56:04 GMT works So, it's throwing due to the timezone field. As a workaround, for familiar feeds I would manually fix those DateTime nodes - by catching the XmlException, loading the Rss into an XmlDocument, fixing those nodes' value, creating a new XmlReader and then returning the formatter from this new XmlReader object (code not shown). But for this approach to work, I need to know beforehand which nodes cause exception. • Droid's mediaserver dies on camera.takePicture()

  On Motorola Droid, Firmware 2.1-update1, Kernel 2.9.29-omap1, Build # ESE81 When attempting to take a picture, mediaserver dies with a segmentation fault. I've tried putting takePicture in a timer and running it a few seconds after camera initialization to check for race conditions, but no change. Just calling Camera.open() doesn't cause the crash. Also, calling Camera.open() causes what I think is the autofocus motor to make a sort of ticking sound. • Embedding an offline Dashcode application in a UIWebView in an iPhone application

  In order words, can anyone tell me the basics of how to create a "hybrid" iPhone application? I want to load the web content (the Dashcode app itself) from the native application's application bundle. I've gotten this to partially work, but some content won't display and it otherwise seems like Dashcode is assuming a certain Safari environment or something that I don't seem to have in my UIWebView. Can anyone provide a link to some sample code that embeds a Dashcode project into a cocoa touch Xcode project? (I did search around Google for a bit trying to find something and I failed to come up with anything worthwhile, except for some books that I might eventually buy if the approach seems worthwhile.)
