    Im uploading a file, and then attempting to use fgetcsv to do things to it. This is my script below. Everything was working fine before i added the file upload portions. Now its not showing any errors, its just not displaying the uploaded data.     Hi everybody, I want to create a function that returns the full path from a set node, back to the root value. I tried to make a recursive function, but ran out of luck totally. What would be an appropriate way to do this? I assume that a recursive function is the only way?     Is it possible to get all keys in a column family using SimpleCassie? I looked at SimpleCassie's google code, but do not figure out. Another issue is that I used following code to access column value. $price = $cassie-keyspace('ToyStore')-cf('Toys')-key('Transformer')-column('Price')-get(); echo $price; It always complains "object of cassandra columnorsupercolumn cannot be converted to string".   • What are the drawbacks of using PHP to create variables in my CSS stylesheet?

    One significant drawback of CSS is that one can't use variables. For example, I'd like to use variables to control the location of imported CSS, and it would be awesome to create variables for colors that are used repeatedly in a design. One approach is to use a PHP file for the CSS stylesheet. In other words, create a "style.php" with... <?php header("Content-type: text/css"); ?> ...at the top of the file, and then link to it using... <link href="style.php" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> ...in any file that uses these styles. So what's the catch? I think it might be performance -- I did a few quick experiments in Firefox/Firebug and as one would expect, the CSS stylesheet is cached, but the PHP stylesheet isn't. So we're paying the price of an additional GET. The other annoying thing is that TextMate does not syntax highlight properly for CSS in a .php file. Are there other drawbacks? Have you used this approach, and if so, would you recommend it?

    Hi guys, The characters I am getting from the URL, for example www.mydomain.com/?name=john , were fine, as longs as they were not in Russian. If they were are in Russian, I was getting '????'. So I added $name= iconv("cp1251","utf-8" ,$name); and now it works fine for Russian and English characters, but screws up other languages. :))) For example 'Janis' ( Latvian ) that worked fine before iconv, now turns into 'j??nis'. Any idea if there's some universal encoder that would work with both the Cyrillic languages and not screw up other languages?

    I would like to write a (HTML) parser based on state machine but I have doubts how to acctually read/use an input. I decided to load the whole input into one string and then work with it as with an array and hold its index as current parsing position. There would be no problems with single-byte encoding, but in multi-byte encoding each value does not represent a character, but a byte of a character. Example: $mb_string = 'žšcr'; //4 multi-byte characters in UTF-8 for($i=0; $i < 4; $i++) { echo $mb_string[$i], PHP_EOL; } Outputs: L ž L A This means I cannot iterate through the string in a loop to check single characters, because I never know if I am in the middle of an character or not. So the questions are: How do I multi-byte safe read a single character from a string in a performance friendly way? Is it good idea to work with the string as it was an array in this case? How would you read the input?

  • PHP is unable to open a file for writing - but it does exist

    I am trying to write to a file. I do a file_exists check on it before i do fopen and it comes up true: the file does exist. However, the file fails this code and gives me the error every time: $handle = fopen($filename, 'w'); if($handle) { flock($handle, LOCK_EX); fwrite($handle, $contents); } else { echo 'ERROR: Unable to open the file for writing.',PHP_EOL; exit(); } flock($handle, LOCK_UN); fclose($handle); Is there a way I can get more specific error details as to why this file does not let me open it for writing? I know that the filename is legit, but for some reason it just wont let me write to it. I do have write permissions, I was able to write and write over another file.

  • PHP won't let page update automatically every day/6 hours

    A friend build a ranking system on his site and I am trying to host in on mine via wordpress and godaddy. It updates for him but when I load it to my site, it works for 6 hours, but as soon as the reload is supposed to occur, it errors and I get a 500 timeout error. His page is at: http://www.jeremynoeljohnson.com/yakezieclub My page is currently at http://sweatingthebigstuff.com/yakezieclub but when you ?reload=1 it will give the error. Any idea why this might be happening? Any settings that I might need to change?
