  • Problem Converting Web To Web Project In VS2008

    I have converted my old VS2008 Website to Web Application, now everything was working before I tried to convert it. But now I don't seem to be able to reference my Classes? For example I have a BasePage class that every .aspx page inherits like so public partial class SomePageName : BasePage { } But now I get this message? And the same for all the other classes? The type or namespace name 'BasePage' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) How do I find out which 'using' directive I am missing and whats an assembly reference?

    I asked this question on SO. However, I wish to extend it further. I would like to find the max value of the 'Reading' column only where the 'state' is of value 'XX' for example. So if I join the two tables, how do I get the row with max(Reading) value from the result set. Eg.   • How can one use the "Add view" dialog in Visual Studio efficiently when working with ASP.NET MVC?

    Does anyone else think that the add view dialog in VS is useless or is it just me? Why is there no search/filtering in there? I can not even paste the type name (without namespace) there to speed up the view creation. Plus, there are a lot of irrelevant classes there, including classes from all referenced libraries. Am I missing something or Microsoft never did any usability testing with that?? Is it possible to filter out types/assemblies in the dialog and/or better navigation compared to manually scrolling the combobox with all the types listed? Is it possible to include only types from a particular directory/assembly/namespace?   • Suggestions on documentation of a DB model when using Entity Framework 4

    Any experiences on how to document Entity Framework 4 based Database projects? There is the Document and Summary properties on the Entities, but if we want to regenerate the model from the database at some point, it will be lost! Is there some way to map documentation data inside SQL to the Entities in the EDMX file so it is safe. Suggestions of other best practices? Ideally I want to be able to augo generate html/helpfile documentation from the DB when we deploy.

  • Specify ApplicationName when using ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool

    This tool is supposed to configure users and roles etc., but when I use it on a new web site, with a new aspnetdb database, it adds a record to the aspnet_Applications table with the ApplicationName and the LoweredApplicationName fields set to /. I think it would make more sense if it actually used the application name, i.e. the web site name. Can I safely just change the application name? Is there a better way of configuring these things?

  • CLR Function not working in restored database

    So I've restore a database with CLR assemblies in it from one physical server to another. One of the functions in the CLR assembly essentially does an uncompress of some compressed data. When I run this function against data in the restored database it returns the compressed data (rather than the uncompressed data). No error is thrown in SSMS or in the SQL server error logs. At the suggestion of others, I've checked differences in the database ownership (both owned by sa), trustworthiness (both set to not trustworthy). I also checked differences in the .NET framework installs on both machines but found only that the target machine had a 1.1 version installed that the source didn't. I don't know what else to try.     I have a C# .NET 2.0 project A that has a form (TreeForm) that uses Tree objects. I have a project B that has a class Oak that inherits Tree. When I try to reference and use the TreeForm in project B with my Oak objects, it's looking for objects of type Tree. I've tried casting the Oak objects to Tree, but I get the error "Cannot convert type Oak to Tree". How can I use my Oak objects in the TreeForm from project A?

  • Multiple queries using same datacontext throws SqlException

    I've search control with which I'm trying to implement search as user types something. I'm using Linq to SQL to fire queries against the database. Though it works fine usually, when user types the queries really fast some random SqlException is thrown. These are the two different error message I stumbled across recently: A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.     Hi, I want to display the Access Rights given to the Users for the particular module. I have Seven Tables such as RoleAccess, Roles, Functions, Module, SubModule, Company and Unit. RoleAccess is the Main Table. The AccessRights given will be stored in the RoleAccess Table only. RoleAccess Table has the following columns such as RoleID, CompanyID, UnitID, FunctionID, ModuleID, SubModuleID, Create, Update, Delete, Read, Approve. Here Create_f, Update_f, Delete_f, Read_f and Approve_f are flags. Company Table has two columns such as CompanyID and CompanyName. Unit Table has three columns such as UnitID, UnitName and CompanyID. Roles Table has four columns such as RoleID, RoleName, CompanyID and UnitID. Module Table has two columns such as ModuleID and ModuleName. SubModule Table has three columns such as ModuleID, SubModuleID, SubModuleName. Functions Table has five columns such as FunctionID, FunctionName, ModuleID and SubModuleID. At First, The RoleAccess Table does not contain any records. So I want to display the ModuleName, SubModuleName, FunctionName, CompanyID, RoleID, UnitID, FunctionID, ModuleID, SubModuleID, Create_f, Update_f, Delete_f, Read_f and Approve_f. If the AccessRights is assigned to the Particular RoleID means the flags in the search results will be 1 else it will be 0. I have witten one stored procedure but it displays the records based on the RoleID stored in the RoleAccess table. But I also want to display the Flags as 0 for the Roles not stored in the RoleAccess Table. I want the Stored Procedure for this. Any one please help me.

  • How can I get "Copy to Output Directory" to work with Unit Tests?

    When I build a unit test project before the tests are executed the test output is copied to a TestResults folder and then the tests are executed. The issue I'm having is that not all the files in the Debug/bin directory are copied to the TestResults project. How can I get a file that is copied to the Debug/bin directory to also be copied to the TestResults folder?   • Which SQL query is faster? Filter on Join criteria or Where clause?

    Compare these 2 queries. Is it faster to put the filter on the join criteria or in the were clause. I have always felt that it is faster on the join criteria because it reduces the result set at the soonest possible moment, but I don't know for sure. I'm going to build some tests to see, but I also wanted to get opinions on which would is clearer to read as well.   • Constant CMS Session Expiry On 1&1 Cloud Server?

    I have a couple of 1&1's 'Dynamic Cloud Servers' and running Win2008R2 and they are setup as web servers, I have a number of Umbraco CMS installs on them and they have been running fine for over a year. On Saturday on BOTH servers, a very strange thing happened - As soon as I login to the CMS/Umbraco admin I am logged out with about 5 seconds? It's as if my session expires the moment I login? I have checked everything I can as I'm not really a server admin, and everything seems to be exactly as it was last week? Like I say this has happened EXACTLY the same time (Saturday) on TWO different servers? I'm just looking for ideas of what I should be looking for? Also the front end of the sites seem fine... Its only the backend when I login. I have gone to 1&1 about this, and as usual they have washed their hands saying its nothing to do with them - When I am certain it is. How can this happen on two different servers, and affect the same sites in exactly the same way? Any help, tips, things to try would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to call this procedure from another database, and in order to pass the parameter, I need to reference this defined type. But when I do DECLARE @table dbOtherDatabase.dbo.TypeName , it tells me that The type name 'dbOtherDatabase.dbo.TypeName' contains more than the maximum number of prefixes. The maximum is 1. How could I reference this table type?

  • how do I zoom to normal text size in vs2008?

    I can not find any help on this issue in vs2008 help, Google, or SO. Scenario: I'm looking at a source file in vs2008 SP1; Windows 2003 Server SP2 Standard Edition, 1280x1024. The irrelevant name of this file is index.aspx. What is relevant is that the file has only 65 lines of code. The print is unreadably small--less than 4 point. It uses less than a third of the vs2008 text window vertically and less that a quarter of the vs2008 text window horizontally. It's not just index.aspx; e.g. another file with 142 lines only fills about 3/4 of the vs2008 text window vertically and less that a quarter of the vs2008 text window horizontally. Possible cause: Probably, but not certainly, I found the equivalent of zoom in/zoom out such as one finds in products like Microsoft Word. However, I've explored many vs2008 toolbars and other customization options and unfortunately I can not find out how to get myself out of this mess. Window, Reset Window Layout has no effect on the text size; my tiny text size did not change. QUESTION: how do I zoom vs2008 text size in and out and back to normal size? Thank you.   • Expression Blend doesn't recognize command objects declared in code behind file

    I have a WPF UserControl. The code behind file declares some RoutedUICommand objects which are referenced in the XAML. The application builds and runs just fine. However Expression Blend 3 cannot load the XAML in the designer and gives errors like this one: The member "ResetCameraCommand" is not recognized or accessible. The class and the member are both public. Building and rebuilding the project in Blend and restarting Blend hasn't helped. Any ideas what the problem is?   • MVC Entity Model not showing my table

    I have a database with multiple tables, and some basic relationships. Here is an example of the problem I am having: My Database: **Org** ID Name etc **Detail1** ID D1name **Org_Detail1** Org_ID Detail1_ID **Detail2** ID D2Name **Org_Detail2** Org_ID Detial1_ID BooleanField My problem is, the Org_detail1 table is not showing up in the entity model, but the Org_Details2 table does. I thought it may have been because the Org_Detail1 table only contains two ID fields that are both primary keys, while the Org_Details2 table contains 2 primary key ID fields as well as a boolean field. If I add a dummy field to Org_detail1 and update it, it still won't show up and wont allow me to add a new entity relating to the Org_Detail1 table. The table won't even show up in the list, but it is listed under the tables. Is there any solution to get this table to appear in my model?
