Force encoding with IIS 7

I try to force encoding with IIS 7. When I add in the http response headers the key : Content-Type and value charset=utf-8 i got this key content-type : text/html,content-type=utf-8 it's there a way to remove the comma ? Using nginx to rewrite urls inside outgoing responses

We have a customer with a site running on Apache. Recently the site has been seeing increased load and as a stop gap we want to shift all the static content on the site to a cookieless domains, e.g. http://static.thedomain.com. The application is not well understood. So to give the developers time to amend the code to point their links to the static content server (http://static.thedomain.com) I thought about proxying the site through nginx and rewriting the outgoing responses such that links to /images/... are rewritten as http://static.thedomain.com/images/.... So for example, in the response from Apache to nginx there is a blob of Headers + HTML. In the HTML returned from Apache we have <img> tags that look like: <img src="/images/someimage.png" /> I want to transform this to: <img src="http://static.thedomain.com/images/someimage.png" /> So that the browser upon receiving the HTML page then requests the images directly from the static content server. Is this possible with nginx (or HAProxy)? I have had a cursory glance through the docs but nothing jumped out at me except rewriting inbound urls.

How to set up Windows 7 Professional as a NAS

I searched and didn't find any answers, so please forgive me if this is a repeat. Anyway, I have an older computer that I'm using as an HTPC, and I was hoping that I could use it as a NAS/multimedia server, as well. My primary uses would include accessing content on my PS3 (same LAN), accessing content from other computers on my home network and (if I can) accessing content from my Android phone over the internet. I have used SubSonic to stream music to my Android phone and other computers before, but I would really like to find a way to do this natively if possible. I know that I can buy external hard disk cases that can plug in the USB port of my router, that I can get a Drobo or other network storage solution, but I would really just rather not spend the money (especially considering that I already have a computer that I should be able to use). Hardware involved: Apple AirPort Extreme base station router (most recent revision) Home Theater Personal Computer: Core 2 Duo @ 2.4GHz, 8GB DDR2 RAM, ~3.5TB hard drive space Sony Playstaiton 3 Thin 120GB HTC Thunderbolt (I have 4G coverage) rooted and running Android 2.2.1 Various Apple laptops Various Windows 7 desktops/laptops Thanks in advance! Note- I have looked at open source NAS software but I would like to preserve the Windows Media Center functionality in Windows 7, so other NAS software is not an option for me currently. .

I'm trying to upload a file (which can be quite large) from the website of one server to the backend of another server using plupload. Origin http://www.websitedomain.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin. Does anyone know how to stop the browser from checking or how i can tell my server to just accept the POST?

Strange issue in header location redirect

I have three websites hosted (example1.com, example2.com, example3.com) on a server. There is a page (test.php) on example1.com with just code below inside it: <?php header('Location:http://example2.com/a.php'); ?> When I browse test.php it goes to http://example1.com/a.php . it doesn't understand it is another domain url, it tried to find the page on itself. but when I put http://google.com instead of example2.com/a.php it works correct. I really get confused. What is the problem ? Should I set some configuration on the server? ( I am administrator of the hosting server ). Ps. The server is behind a pound server. What is the name of the this DOS font? Where and how to add it? Why is there a 1 pixel gap?

So basically I somehow stepped into this webpage: www.braindamage.vg And the first thing that hit me hard was the lovely DOS fonts, so naturally I wanted to get them into my IDE badly. Opened the html source file and CSS file to find the font name: @font-face { font-family: 'Perfect DOS VGA 437'; src: url('http://www.braindamage.vg/wp-content/themes/braindamage/dosfont.eot'); } @font-face { font-family: 'Perfect DOS VGA 437'; src: url('http://www.braindamage.vg/wp-content/themes/braindamage/dosfont.svg#dos') format("svg"), url('http://www.braindamage.vg/wp-content/themes/braindamage/dosfont.ttf') format ('truetype'); } So I download the font, add it using Control Panel - Fonts. But once I start using it (notepad, MSVS 2008 & MSVS2010) I notice that it looks slightly off: It seems like there's 1 extra pixel between each character. How it should look: What is causing it and how to fix this? Is it the windows XP? (i have disabled font smoothing) Or is there something wrong with the font file?

Website latency and bad tcp packets

I have multiple websites hosted on a Linode VPS and I'm having an issue with one of them: every page that I try to load has about 10 seconds latency. Apache logs are clean and the other websites on the same machine are running well. At a first glance I tought it was a memory problem since the VPS has got only 512M, but from the linode dashboard CPU and Disk I/O are normal. Anyway here we have the ram status: $ free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 487 463 23 0 2 55 -/+ buffers/cache: 404 82 Swap: 255 155 100 Only 23M free, but if it was a memory problem why other websites are going as usual? I took a live capture with wireshark, and there are some duplicates SYN ACK packets just before the 10 seconds gap. I'm out of ideas, looking for some clues. Nginx and Wordpress side-by-side with static directory alias?

I'm a Nginx novice, but I have it set up with Wordpress Multisite (subdirectories) and php-fpm, and it's working great as is. This lets me set up Wordpress sites off the web root: domain.com/site1 - a Wordpress network single site, which renders as expected. domain.com/site2 - ditto etc. Concurrently, I can easily create static files in the web root that don't conflict or interact with Wordpress, and they are also rendered normally. domain.com/hello.html - rendered normally domain.com/hello.php - rendered normally, including php processing domain.com/static/hello.php - rendered normally (along as "static" isn't a WP single site name) What I'd like to do, and this is where I'm out of my depth with nginx.conf, is create a root directory domain.com/static and put static sites in there domain.com/static/site3 domain.com/static/site4 and have Nginx check the request that comes into the root request comes in for: domain.com/site3 and before handing off to Wordpress, check to see if it exists in the /static folder checks: domain.com/static/site3 - static content exists there and if so, serves that content while maintaining the root URI. serves: domain.com/site3 (with content from domain.com/static/site3) if not, it lets Wordpress check if /site3 is a Wordpress single network site as it does now, and the process continues normally. In nginx.conf, in the server section, I start with this try_files rule: location / { try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?q=$uri&$args; } I then include a bunch of Wordpress specific rules as identified at http://codex.wordpress.org/Nginx under the subdirectory section. I can see that rewrite rules might take care of it easily, but in my experimentation I've only achieved a bunch of looping (/static/static/static, etc.) and managed to bypass Wordpress if the looping stopped. Sorry if this is a very long-winded way of asking a simple question, but I'm definitely learning some of this stuff for the first time. Thanks!

Random HTTP 413 error on apach2/php/joomla site

I have a Joomla site, and every once in a while when I submit something via a form, I get a HTTP 413 error: Request Entity Too Large The requested resource /index.php does not allow request data with POST requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. In the error.log file I get: Invalid Content-Length, referer: [site]/index.php It doesn't seem this has anything to do with the actual size of the request, for the following reasons: a) I tinkered with the configuration of both Apache, and PHP. In Apache I tried increasing LimitRequestBody, and in PHP post_max_size, max_input_vars, memory_limit, and even upload_max_filesize. Every value is far beyond what is sent in a typical request that generates an error. b) The error pops up quite randomly, and often just hitting refresh allows me to get through. c) I checked the request in Fiddler to make sure everything is right with the content-length stated in the header, and the content of the request itself. Everything appears to be in order. A curious thing is that when I resent the exact same request via Fiddler, I never got the error. It seems I can only recreate it through a browser. So I'm at my wit's end here. I don't even know where to look for the problem anymore. I don't know if it's Apache or PHP (though I can't find anything in PHP error logs, so maybe that means Apache is the more likely culprit?), or PHP in general, or my Joomla site in particular (my bets were on Joomla until a recreated the error on a test script, with a very basic post form, though it does pop up much more often on the Joomla site). If anyone can give any advice on where to even begin with this, I'll be very grateful!

NGINX + PHP-FPM - Strange issue when trying to display images via php-gd / readfile - Connection wont terminate

Ok, to get the details out of the way: The php script can be anything as simple as: <? header('Content-Type: image/jpeg'); readfile('/local/image.jpg'); ?> When I try to execute this via nginx + php-fpm what happens is the image shows up in the browser, here is what happens: IE - The page stays blank for a long period of time, and eventually the image is shown. Chrome - The image shows, but the loading spinner spins and spins for a long period of time. Eventually the debugger will show the image in red as in error, but the image shows up fine. Everything else on the server works great. Its pushing out about 100mbit steady serving static content. So this is definatly a php-fpm related issue. I THINK this may have something to do with the chunked encoding being sent back wrong? Also, I threw in a pause before the image was read, and got the pid of the fpm process, and it looks as tho its terminatly correctly (from strace): shutdown(3, 1 /* send */) = 0 recvfrom(3, "\1\5\0\1\0\0\0\0", 8, 0, NULL, NULL) = 8 recvfrom(3, "", 8, 0, NULL, NULL) = 0 close(3) = 0 The above was dumped long before ie/chrome decided to give up (even tho the image was shown) loading the image. Displaying HTML / text content is fine. Big bodies etc all load nice and fast and terminate right away (as they should). Doing something like: THIS IS THE IMAGE ---BINARY DUMP OF IMAGE--- Works fine too. Any ideas?

Connection reset to some websites

I'm using a 2wire 3600HGV modem/router. Starting around this afternoon, any time I try to access anything from i.imgur.com I get The connection to i.imgur.com was interrupted in chrome, and the actual error is Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET). It's network wide (tested multiple browsers on multiple computers and phones). I can access imgur.com just fine, but nothing from its content server i.imgur.com. If I disable wifi on my phone and use its 4G connection, I can access it just fine, so obviously imgur isn't down. I haven't changed any configuration on the router, and I have tried changing DNS servers (I tried google and OpenDNS). It also seems that imgur is not the only site; howtogeek and a couple of others seem to have the same problem. It looks like they are all edgecast cdn content servers, but not all edgecast cdn servers fail. Tumblr, for instance, works just fine. Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this? EDIT: Related to the edgecast remark, it would appear that this is a specific edgecast server: gs1.wpc.edgecastcdn.net. Tumbler's content is on gs1.wac.edgecastcdn.net, so it might be on a different server. Edit #2: These sites all respond to ping just fine as well.

Huge discrepancy in Inkscape file size

When using Inkscape to create many pictures with common elements across them, I tend to copy the first SVG file I have created as many times as I need pictures, and then edit the copies. If I reuse files across projects, it can result in a file being copied and modified tens to hundreds of files. I have recently realized that the latest copies have a size between 29 and 60 MB, slowing my computer down significatively. My pictures are very simple, nothing that would normally go over 1 MB in size. As an experiment, I copied the entire content of one of the latest files into a new Inkscape file. I am certain that I have copied the content of the file entirely (I have only one layer and I used the "Select All" option). The new file has a size of 102,2 KB. This would indicate that about 30 MB of data per file is irrelevant to me. What could be the cause of this size difference ? Is there a way to reduce the size of a file without having to copy the content into a new file ? I am using Inkscape 0.48.4 on Debian Unstable. Thanks for any input you might be able to provide !

Why is my Internet connection randomly dropping?

Ever since I have installed 12.04 (clean install not an upgrade), i have been having a drop in the Internet connection. The drop in the connection can be anything from 15 seconds to about 3 mins, and then the connection comes back. This behaviour happens while I am actively browsing the Internet, or if I wake up the computer and open Firefox (sometimes I have connection and sometimes I don't) . Please note that when the internet connection is on, it is not slow (as speedtest.net results show) In the beginning, I thought it was a problem with the driver r8169 for my RTL8111/8168B Ethernet card, so I downloaded the r8168 from Realtek website, followed the detailed instructions (blacklisted r8169, changed the file to '.bsh' ...), but still the same problem persisted. So I switched to a wireless connection, and I got the same problem with internet connection dropping randomly. Any ideas? The feature-complete 5.6 release candidate was announced at MySQL Connect in late September and the production-ready, generally available ("GA") product should be available in early 2013. While the message around 5.6 has been focused mainly on mass appeal, advanced topics like performance/scale, high availability, and self-healing replication clusters, MySQL 5.6 also provides many developer-friendly nuggets that are designed to enable those who are building the next generation of web-based and embedded applications and services. Boiling down the 5.6 feature set into a smaller set, of simple, easy to use goodies designed with developer agility in mind, these things deserve a quick look:Subquery Optimizations Using semi-JOINs and late materialization, the MySQL 5.6 Optimizer delivers greatly improved subquery performance. Specifically, the optimizer is now more efficient in handling subqueries in the FROM clause; materialization of subqueries in the FROM clause is now postponed until their contents are needed during execution. Additionally, the optimizer may add an index to derived tables during execution to speed up row retrieval. I first thought that Visual C++ performs some kind of vectorization (may be I am mistaken here), but as far as I can see assembly does not look the way it uses vectorization. Why is STL loop faster? Hand-crafted loop is identical to the loop from the STL-find body. I was asked to post program's output. Without shuffle: value generation required: 0.078 first search required: 0.008 first search found value: no second search required: 0.098 second search found value: no With shuffle (caching effects): value generation required: 1.454 first search required: 0.009 first search found value: no second search required: 0.044 second search found value: no Many thanks, dusha. P.S. I return the iterator and write out the result (found or not), because I would like to prevent compiler optimization, that it thinks the loop is not required at all. The searched value is obviously not in the vector.

java ioexception error=24 too many files open

I'm writing a genetic algorithm that needs to read/write lots of files. The fitness test for the GA is invoking a program called gradif, which takes a file as input and produces a file as output. Everything is working except when I make the population size and/or the total number of generations of the genetic algorithm too large. Then, after so many generations, I start getting this: java.io.FileNotFoundException: testfiles/GradifOut29 (Too many open files). (I get it repeatedly for many different files, the index 29 was just the one that came up first last time I ran it). It's strange because I'm not getting the error after the first or second generation, but after a significant amount of generations, which would suggest that each generation opens up more files that it doesn't close. But as far as I can tell I'm closing all of the files. The way the code is set up is the main() function is in the Population class, and the Population class contains an array of Individuals. Here's my code: Initial creation of input files (they're random access so that I could reuse the same file across multiple generations) files = new RandomAccessFile[popSize]; for(int i=0; i<popSize; i++){ files[i] = new RandomAccessFile("testfiles/GradifIn"+i, "rw"); } At the end of the entire program: for(int i=0; i<individuals.length; i++){ files[i].close(); } Inside the Individual's fitness test: FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream("testfiles/GradifIn"+index); FileOutputStream fout = new FileOutputStream("testfiles/GradifOut"+index); Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec ("./gradif"); OutputStream stdin = process.getOutputStream(); InputStream stdout = process.getInputStream(); Then, later.... try{ fin.close(); fout.close(); stdin.close(); stdout.close(); process.getErrorStream().close(); }catch (IOException ioe){ ioe.printStackTrace(); } Then, afterwards, I append an 'END' to the files to make parsing them easier. I tried using the try{close()}catch{} syntax to see if there was a problem with closing any of the files (there wasn't), and I got that from this answer. It should also be noted that the Individuals' fitness tests run concurrently. UPDATE: I've actually been able to narrow it down to the exec() call. In my most recent run, I first ran in to trouble at generation 733 (with a population size of 100). Why are the earlier generations fine? I don't understand why, if there's no leaking, the algorithm should be able to pass earlier generations but fail on later generations. And if there is leaking, then where is it coming from? UPDATE2: In trying to figure out what's going on here, I would like to be able to see (preferably in real-time) how many files the JVM has open at any given point. Is there an easy way to do that?

Android - How do I load a contact Photo?

I'm having trouble loading a photo for a contact in Android. I've googled for an answer, but so far have come up empty. Does anyone have an example of querying for a Contact, then loading the Photo? So, given a contactUri which comes from an Activity result called using startActivityForResult(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK,ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_URI),PICK_CONTACT_REQUEST) is: content://com.android.contacts/data/1557 The loadContact(..) works fine. However when I call the getPhoto(...) method, I get a null value for the photo InputStream. It is also confusing because the URI values are different. I'd like to verify the text content of a pseudo-element. The promise returned from using ptor.executeScript("window.getComputedStyle(jQuery('.my-class')[0], ':after').content").then(function(data){ console.log(arguments) // {'0':null} }); I've also tried dropping that in the expectation, but I'd guess that fails for the same reason. Since the CSS Declaration for this is pointing at one of the element's attributes anyway, should I just try to read that attribute?

Objective-C NSMutableArray Count Causes EXC_BAD_ACCESS

I've been stuck on this for days and each time I come back to it I keep making my code more and more confusing to myself, lol. Here's what I'm trying to do. I have table list of charges, I tap on one and brings up a model view with charge details. Now when the model is presented a object is created to fetch a XML list of users and parses it and returns a NSMutableArray via a custom delegate. I then have a button that presents a picker popover, when the popover view is called the user array is used in an initWithArray call to the popover view. I know the data in the array is right, but when [pickerUsers count] is called I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I assume it's a memory/ownership issue but nothing seems to help. Any help would be appreciated. MVVM pattern and nested view models - communication and lookup lists

I am using Prism for a new application that I am creating. There are several lookup lists that will be used in several places in the application. Therefore it makes sense to define it once and use that everywhere I need that functionality. My current solution is to use typed data templates to render the controls inside a content control. <DataTemplate DataType={x:Type ListOfCountriesViewModel}> <ComboBox ItemsSource={Binding Countries} SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedCountry"/> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType={x:Type ListOfRegionsViewModel}> <ComboBox ItemsSource={Binding Countries} SelectedItem={Binding SelectedRegion} /> </DataTemplate> public class ParentViewModel { SelectedCountry get; set; SelectedRegion get; set; ListOfCountriesViewModel CountriesVM; ListOfRegionsViewModel RgnsVM; } Then in my window I have 2 content controls and the rest of the controls <ContentControl Content="{Binding CountriesVM}"></ContentControl> <ContentControl Content="{Binding RgnsVM}"></ContentControl> <Rest of controls on view> At the moment I have this working and the SelectedItems for the combo boxes are publising events via EventAggregator from the child view models which are then subscribed to in the parent view model. I am not sure that this is the best way to go as I can imagine I would end up with a lot of events very quickly and it will become unwieldy. Also if I was to use the same view model on another window it will publish the event and this parent viewmodel is subscribed to it which could have unintended consequences. My questions are :- Is this the best way to put lookup lists in a view which can be re-used across screens? How do I make it so that the combobox which is bound to the child viewmodel sets the relevant property on the parent viewmodel without using events / mediator. e.g in this case SelectedCountry for example? Any alternative implementation proposals for what I am trying to do? I have a feeling I am missing something obvious and there is so much info it is hard to know what is right so any help would be most gratefully received.
