• administering new website - Found really tiny keywords inside page

  I'm administering this new website. The previous web admin included a large amount of tiny keywords on top of some of its pages. I've removed them already. I need to know if I have to rest the domain with google webmaster or will google notice the change and take action? thanks in advance. edit: They are not meta keyword. They are literally text so small that it looks like a fine line of gibberish on the page itself. This clearly violates google guidelines. My point was more: Do I need to tell google that we are not bad pupils anymore.

• How to get working cups command line tools on Server 14.04

  It looks like some of the commands like lpr and lprm have broken versions that don't work with cups. These commands worked properly on 10.04. lpr for cups has an -o option, but no lpr is intalled when cups is installed, and the lpr installed with apt-get install lpr does not have the -o option and does not appear to be the cups version of lpr. man lpr shows BSD General Commands Manual at the top, where man lpr on the Ubuntu 10.04 server said Apple, inc in the same spot. which leads me to believe the "wrong" lpr is in the "lpr" package or package names got moved around. There is also a lprng package, but trying to install it wants to remove cups and cups-client. lprm also returns lprm: PrinterName: unknown printer when PrinterName is in fact a valid printer installed with cups and does appear in lpstat -t. How do I get the proper cups versions of lpr working on Server 14.04?

  Lets say i currently have mycompanyname.com domain. and after several time i found that its very hard to hit top of serp. after searching i find there is domain that match with one of my keyword. i build website with 2 language. and im able to assign both of url with different language. my question, impact with SEO? it will have a load of duplicated content between those domain (image video etc). im afraid one of my website will have marked as plagiarist because many of content will be same. anyone experience the same condition? • Why doesn't LightDM always doesn't start under XEN

  When I use XEN on Ubuntu (12.10), I have a problem that lightdm sometimes doesn't start when I boot up, I have to log in on the TTY and use sudo service lightdm restart, sometimes several times. Some of the time I get a mouse cursor and a blinking underscore in the top left of the (otherwise black) screen, but after restarting lightdm a few times it eventually comes up properly. I've tried this with XEN from the repos (version 4.1), XEN 4.2 built from source, an NVIDIA card and a radeon card (not using fglrx, which I can't seem to make work under XEN), the results are more or less the same. I can't see anything obvious in my Xorg.log, but I'm not really sure what to look for. Anyone had similar problems or luck getting xen working? Thanks in advance.

• 12.10 does not boot sometimes from the hard drive, but it does consistently from the CD

  I have recently switched from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 12.10. I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 and I cleared everything from my computer, but it randomly stops at different screens. Only a purple screen comes up. I can choose Ubuntu from a list and a blinking white dot appears in the top left corner. The previous things happen and the Ubuntu login screen appears an I can log in. It is random. and I have not changed anything. I can always insert the bootable CD and it will work every time.

• Software Productivity Tools-&gt; The Missing Link?

  In an op-ed piece in this months SD Times, I make the argument that software development productivity tools have evolved over the years to become more mainstream. I make the case that while some developers shun tools, in reality they take for granted the tools they are using today that were not available 10 years or so ago, or were not that mature. For example today we use some tools without even thinking such as: SCM, build management, standards enforcement, ORM and UI components. Tools today save a team a tremendous amount of time and are the missing link in the software development process. • Expanding on requestaudit - Tracing who is doing what...and for how long

  One of the most helpful tracing sections in WebCenter Content (and one that is on by default) is the requestaudit tracing.  This tracing section summarizes the top service requests happening in the server along with how they are performing.  By default, it has 2 different rotations.  One happens every 2 minutes (listing up to 5 services) and another happens every 60 minutes (listing up to 20 services).  These traces provide the total time for all the requests against that service along with the number of requests and its average request time.  This information can provide a good start in possibly troubleshooting performance issues or tracking a particular issue.   [Read More]

"Where is my favorite subject, the one I happen to also be an expert on?" Well, there's good news for you, too: The Suggest-A-Session project has returned. It works thus: Submit a session idea via Oracle Mix and ask your colleagues, Oracle Mix community, friends and anyone else you know to vote for your session. (You must be an Oracle Mix member to vote.) Voting is open through June 20. For the most part, the top voted sessions will be selected for the Oracle Develop Conf (or Oracle OpenWorld) official agenda.   A recent TechTarget article features an interview with Business Architecture expert William Ulrich (Take a business-driven approach to application modernization ). In that article Ulrich offers this advice: "Moving from one technical architecture might be perfectly viable on a project by project basis, but when you're looking at the big picture and you want to really understand how to drive business value so that the business is pushing money into IT instead of IT pulling money back, you have to understand the business architecture. When we do that we're going to really be able to start bringing value to the table." In many respects that big picture view is what software architecture is all about. As an architect, your technical skills must be top-notch. But if you don't apply that technical knowledge within the larger context of moving the business forward, what are you accomplishing? • Node.js Or servlets?

  I have heard a lot and read about the Javascript server side language i.e Node.js, and saw many comparisons in favor of Node. I don't understand what makes it better or faster, or how it even relates to something as mature as Java Servlets. But Servlets are built on top of a multithreaded programming language as opposed to Node.js. Then how can node.js be faster? If suppose 1000K users query for a database records, then shouldn't Node.js be slower than Servlets. Also Don't servlets have better security compared to Node.js?

• Making a Background Scrolling in Stacking Game

  Hmmm...Is it a good idea to use a LibGDX parallax background for making a stacking game (i.e. PAPA STACKer Lite)? For example, I'm starting to use the blocks to drag-n-drop it. Next, when the next piece reaches the top of the screen, it automatically scrolls to the next one where the available space left. Aside from that, is it also involved with the camera code (Orthographic Camera) that the screen size appeared like 720x1280 but actually it's 1440x2560 for example? And another thing, does the background scrolling have the option to scroll from start to finish and infinite?
