    Are there any Source Code Management (SCM) tools made specifically for solo programmers or small groups of programmers that tracks every small change made to source code in real time? This would require all key strokes to be tracked, and any other small changes like GUI UI editing. This seems like it would be a very useful tool for a programmer trying to remember a fix he did an hour ago that they didn't manually commit.

  • C#: BackgroundWorker cloning resources?

    The problem I've been struggling with this partiular problem for two days now and just run out of ideas. A little... background: we have a WinForms app that needs to access a database, construct a list of related in-memory objects from that data, and then display on a DataGridView. Important point is that we first populate an app-wide cache (List), and then create a mirror of the cache local to the form on which the DGV lives (using List constructor param). Because fetching the data takes a good few seconds (DB sits on a LAN server) to load, we decided to use a BackgroundWorker, and only refresh the DGV once the data is loaded. However, it seems that doing the loading via a BGW results in some memory leak... or an error on my part. When loaded using a blocking method call, the app consumes about 30MB of RAM; with a BGW this jumps to 80MB! While it may not seem as much anyway, our clients are not too happy about it.     One of the most appealing features of Ext-JS is the Grid control in my opinion. I was searching for something free that does something close and have set my hopes on jQuery. I haven't found a jQuery (or other LGPL compatible) Table / Grid plugin that allows to: Reorder columns by dragging Resize columns by dragging Add or Remove columns on the fly Have a default good looking UI (subjective, but Ext-JS look I think is a concensus) In addition to the rest most grid controls have (Sort, Paging etc) Is there a free (LGPL) jQuery plugin that does the above?

My question is, how do you develop BlackBerry applications: do you use the simulators - can you relay on them. If an application works on the simulator, does it works 1:1 on the phone?   • ListActivity problem when using with RelativeLayout

    Newb alert, I'm sure I'm doing something dumb here. I've been progressively expanding my UI, and I want to add a ListView in the middle of my UI. When I add it and change the activity to extend a ListActivity instead of just an Activity, I'm getting a Force Close. Using 1.5. Does a ListView not work embedded in a RelativeLayout? In Selenium IDE, I have 3 text fields for each command: the command name (I assume "waitForCondition"), the target, and the value. Where and how should I put the two arguments in this UI?

    Can you help me make sense of all the different ways to communicate from browser to client in ASP.NET? I have made this a community wiki so feel free to edit my post to improve it. Specifically, I'm trying to understand in which scenario to use each one by listing how each works. I'm a little fuzzy on UpdatePanel vs CallBack (with ViewState): I know UpdatePanel always returns HTML while CallBack can return JSON. Any other major differences? ...and CallBack (without ViewState) vs WebMethod. CallBack goes through most of the Page lifecycle, WebMethod doesn't. Any other major differences?     I'm using the following Google Maps autload (asynchronous) to load asynchronous both Google Maps v3 and JQuery, like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi?autoload={ "modules":[ {name:"maps",version:3,other_params:"sensor=false"},{"name":"jquery","version":"1.4.2"},{"name":"jqueryui","version":"1.8.1"} ]}"></script> However, looking at the network traffic, it appears that it is not downloading asynchronously. Question: Does anyone understand why the %7Bcommon (google-maps) file is being delayed from download until the jquery-ui.min file completes download first?
