  • Stored procedure called from C# executes 6 times longer than from SQL Management studio

    I have search stored procedure which is my performance bottleneck. In order to get control about what is happened, I added logging for all parameters and also execution time in SP. I noticed, that when I call SP from MIcrosoft SQL server management Studio execution time is 1.3-1.6 seconds, but when i call it from C#, it takes 6-8 secods (!!!) Parameters | Time (ms) "tb *"TreeType:259Parents:212fL:13;14fV:0;lcid:2057min:0max:10sort:-1 | 6406 "tb *"TreeType:259Parents:212fL:13;14fV:0;lcid:2057min:0max:10sort:-1 | 1346 SP is called with LINQ. Login settings are same. SP uses full text search What could cause this?

  • Object viewer control needed (like QuickWatch in VS)

    Anyone know of any controls that you can add to your application to allow the user to check out the content of an object? I'm thinking of something like QuickWatch in Visual Studio, just list all properties of an object and its values and allow the user to drill down. I started writing one using reflection but it turned out be a lot of work to handle different kind of collections. This functionality would be used for debugging purposes mostly and not by regular users. I prefer WPF but Winforms would work as well.

    I'm looking into creating a GUI program for Windows in C++, I have a good knowledge of C++ in the command line and also in game creation. But I'm not sure where to start with GUI application development. I have Visual Studio 2010 and have created new projects with a GUI but these templates are complex and leaves me not understanding whats happening and how to modify it. So I'm asking where do I start? Preferably good websites that you can recommend or tutorials, rather than books being a poor student :)

The problem is, the asp:button uses Visual Basic and the search results from Google require Javascript. Is there a way to take the data from an asp: textbox in VB and then send it to another page that uses Javascript and use the data?

  • ReSharper: Rename namespace not available?

    I'm trying to rename a namespace. For some reason, ReSharper isn't giving me the option to do so. I right click on it and choose Refactor, but everything except "Convert" is greyed out. I try the key combination CTRL R + R, and it says the command is unavailable. What am I doing wrong?   • Development Applications on big devices vs mobile phones: Similarities/Disimilarities

    Hello, I saw a news document on applications running in mobile devices. And, I believe that might be interesting for people where I live (Internet is not developed - but the cellphone networks are much better). So here are my questions: Where can I find documentation for beginners on that matter (And most importantly) Am I gonna be able to take advantage of acquired knowledge in .NET framework (C#, MVC, JQuery, XHTML, ...)? Am I gonna need my laptop or a special device to develop applications? Am I gonna need Visual Studio? And so on... Bref, What are similarities/dissimilarities between developments for applications running in big machines and those running on mobile phones? Thanks for helping

    I recently installed the release version of Visual Studio 2010. So far I'm less than impressed with the rewrite and was wondering if I'm the only one. The thing I dislike the most is the inability to use the old-school MDI windows instead of the dreaded tabbed documents. For the other side the usage generator seems like it may prove useful in time.   • Cross-referencing UML models in VS 2010

    I am just starting to explore/use the UML modeling support in Visual Studio 2010 Umltimate. I have created two model projects within a single solution. Let's call them Model A and Model B. I have some data types (classes) defined in Model B. I want to use them as return types for operations in Model A. However, I cannot figure out how to make the types defined in Model B show up in Model A when attempting to set return type on an operation. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Now I would like to access the m_Browser (CWebBrowser class instance) defined inside the protected CMyBrowserView class into a different class. (for example CMyBrowserApp in the code sample) and use .Navigate and other functions. How can I do this? (im using visual studio 6 c++)

For example, I need a column called Frequency (varchar) that only accepts 'Daily', 'Weekly', 'Monthly', 'Yearly' as possible values Is this possible to set within the SQL Server Management Studio when creating the table?
